It was about (1)7685 or something.I'm not sure.

Simon May 22nd, 2004 12:21 PM

I think it's 1 out of 8625.

MeganiumFan May 22nd, 2004 12:58 PM

I think it's 1 outta 8624

awkwardsilencer May 22nd, 2004 1:36 PM

no its like 65378......................................

Red Storm May 22nd, 2004 8:46 PM

That high? Guess I've been pretty lucky. I've caught a shiny numel, pelipper, and a swablu(modest personality) in the past few days. I've been ev training my pokemon in same areas. I've been wanting a shiny absol but I haven't been lucky on that one yet. :(

Pikachu Fan38 May 30th, 2004 10:37 AM

I wish I could find at least one shiny Pokemon

Aiya Quackform May 30th, 2004 3:28 PM

You should know that starters and legendaries have a far higher chance of being shiney. I believe it's around 1 in 356.

RAziken May 30th, 2004 3:35 PM

In RuSa its random. Therefore no formula has been calculated thus far.

For starters legnedarys, according to my latest sorces its 1/256. But yours may be more accurate.

ryan May 30th, 2004 3:59 PM

i'm gonna start my firered over until i get a female shiny charmander

Frostweaver May 30th, 2004 4:33 PM

the reason why shiny is easier to get for those legendaries/starters it's because the fact that it's harder to get a female AND a good personality makes up for all the decrease in difficulty for shiny...

Jirachi3 May 30th, 2004 7:00 PM

how did you get a firered they havent been released yet? Also I think in g/s/c it's 1 to 6795 it said so in the guide book I baught so I'm 99% sure.

Simon May 30th, 2004 8:09 PM

He went to some other country and he saw a '100% English' version on it a while ago and he bought it. I remember him talking about it in the FRLG forums.

I tried Kyogre 1000 times and no shiny

Jirachi3 May 31st, 2004 11:18 AM

I'm pretty sure in rusa it's random so you could take hours and never get a shiny legendary.

Simon May 31st, 2004 11:24 AM

It has to be based on some sort of chance. Like if you wanted to catch a Surskit (without the TV outbreak event), it would be extremely rare to run into one and you would need to know the chances of finding one.

Frostweaver May 31st, 2004 2:22 PM

On average, to get a shiny of a "once only" Pokemon such as starters, Kyogre/Groudon or Metagross, it takes 83 hours of non stop trying on average. So perhaps that's a better way to look at it compare to percentages. ^_^;

TriZon May 31st, 2004 10:58 PM

As far as I've figured out from hacking around in the SRAM/RAM....for a Pokemon to be shiny in R/S/LG/FR, the game draws 2 random numbers (words [or 1 dword...not sure], each can be 0 to 65,535 err...the low byte of the first word is used for the gender I think) and then if the first word equals your secret Trainer ID and the second word equals your Trainer ID then, the Pokemon is shiny. So if I'm right...the chances of a shiny Pokemon are 1 in 4,294,967,296 O.O and a player that catches for example, a shiny male Rattata, can never catch a shiny female Rattata. Unless there's something I didn't figure out >.< that kind of number seems a little too large though...

Anyone out there know more about the byte structure of a Pokemon, I know most the stuff related (like changing the gene, effort points, contest stats, experience, item held, markings, Pokemon ID, Pokemon Name etc...), but currently there's a few words in it that I don't quite know the most about (like the gender part and it's relation to shiny Pokemon and changing the grouping of the encrypted dwords)? Any info is greatly appreciated ^-^

Kairi June 1st, 2004 7:58 AM

I’m pretty sure it was lowered to 1/8172, give or take twenty or so. It was 1/32767 I believe in GSC.

Jirachi3 June 1st, 2004 8:30 AM

That sounds about right.(message in parren. is so I can post a big enough message)

Gardy June 1st, 2004 5:17 PM

The rareness of a shiny is really low ( you'd have to be lucky) but getting a female starter is hard too so if u get one of them then you should be proud in my opinion.

Simon June 1st, 2004 9:06 PM

Can we just all agree that getting shinys are hard and getting shiny starters are even harder?...etc?

Gardy June 2nd, 2004 1:09 PM

I suppose I mean the chances of a starter seems just like the encountar of one so I guess I agree with you. ^_^

The chance is 1 out of 1,000,000.

Note: if you keep restarting your game the chances are re rolled (restarting not saving and trning of GBA)

Note: Its just like rolling a dice you can keep rolling it but never land on a six,

My cousin, and I am serious, has a shiney torchic he didnt use cheats or not. 'Casue I was right there with hi mwhen he started to help him out. And when he chsoe his pokemon it sparkled and he was like "what does that mean?" and I looekd at him and was like "Dude...you got a shiney starter." and I told hi mhow rare that was.. so yea. I am jealous.

katty June 2nd, 2004 4:50 PM

no, you guys are all wrong..stop guessing.
i really forgot, but i tried atleast.
65** somewhere around that. its the number in your game, when two numbers match you get a shiny.

Jirachi3 June 4th, 2004 4:18 AM

it happens when your secret ID and the pokemon's secret ID match.

Gardy June 4th, 2004 2:13 PM

Wow u people r genius (compliment) I never thought it waz that way! So it is sorta like the highest id is 99999 (maybe to many #) so the chance is 1 outa 9999? *confused*

IceKitten June 5th, 2004 10:22 AM

That sounds about right as supposed to what Jirachi3 said

Gardy June 5th, 2004 10:35 AM

Wow I guess people r born lucky $ (I feel smart for once) J/k but then again I heard 2 #'s r drawn or something lik that and if the pokemon's matches your number u drew then it's shiny. But which one is correct???
