7/13 - COTD - Blastoise (DP3)
http://pokebeach.com/sets/dp3/blastoise.jpg
Blastoise L.52 – Water – HP120 Stage 2 – Evolves from Wartortle Poke-Power: Water Dip You can use this Power once during your turn; using this Power ends your turn. Choose any number of Basic Water Energy in your hand and attach them to your Pokemon in any way you like. This Power can’t be used if this Pokemon is affected by a Special Condition. [W][W][C] Hydro Pump: 50 damage. This attack does an additional 20 damage for each Water Energy attached to Blastoise that isn’t used to pay for the attack’s cost. Extra energy after the second doesn’t count. Weakness: Lightning (+30) Resistance: none Retreat: 2 Rate & Review. Thanks to Water Pokemon Master from www.pokebeach.com for the scan. |
Rain Dance Blastoise, but without damage this go-around. But, at least giving the opponent a final stall/turn first.
8/10 - Could be more painful. |
They really just like to remake this power over and over again everytime with minor changes, do they... Still, even though it can't attack the turn, it's still brutally powerful for the bench and maybe Blastoise itself to suddenly be filled with energy. +30 electric is not overly horrible (at least from DP and onward, even though I know that the banlist includes a few EX too and some EX electric types can be painful.) and water is always good to do the bonus damage against Infernape. Certainly it can be a bit more painful as mentioned...
7+/10 It'll score a higher mark depending on what other water types are released in the same pack... by itself, I'll still give it a 7. |
the original blastiose was better hehe

Care to rate the card like the rules state?
All I can say is, it's a damn shame that Holon Lass is being rotated out, because that card and this power would work extremely well together. The attack itself, however, is very generic, unless you do actually have five Water Energy on Blastoise. Even then, 5 for 90? There's much better out there. 120HP is, again, generic for Pokémon Card Game DP. The 30+ weakness hurts something bad, and no resistance doesn't help either. Though, to be fair, a 2 Retreat Cost on a Blastoise is pretty good. 6/10 for Modified HP-on. If you can get it out in the prerelease, though, this thing will hurt. |
