Getting pokemon from previous versions
Also known as the Dongle Method *hehe* I was trying to get a Zangoose on Route 208 with the ruby version plugged in, as it said I could. I searched for an hour with no avail, is there something Im not doing? Do i need the National Dex first or something? Is there something I need to activate on my DS? Please help! Thanks in Advance!

Do you have the National Dex because you need it,or you're looking in the wrong place.Make sure you put it in so it could read it.Because you have to put it in before you turn on the DS.
|
Well i did have it in before i turned it on and I saw the option to play it. But I dont think I would need the national dex, after all I think thats just for Pal Park and you can catch pokies from prev gens like Geodude and Zubat anyway. Do you know if you do for sure?

One of these is your problem:
a)You don't have the National Dex. b)You're looking in the wrong place. c)Your Ruby isn't plugged in properly. You need to do it before you turn on your DS or it won't work. d)Zangoose is in the fast-moving patches and you're looking in a normal one. e)God just don't want you to have a Zangoose, XD. |
Geeze. I cant beleive that I need the freaking national dex just to get like a level 16 or so Zangoose. That is so much crap dude. Well, thanks for all of your help guys because I was looking for one to help me through the game and I havent beaten the elite 4 yet. I havent even beaten the 3rd gym yet. Man its always something eh? Thanks alot guys. I guess Ill have to find a different Physical Sweeper.

What did you mean by fast moving patches? Pokeradar? What is all of this stuff?
|
yea you need national dex
|
Ok, here's the situation. Until you get the National Dex, you can only catch Sinnoh Pokemon, and Zangoose is not a Sinnoh Pokemon. You earn the National Dex by having a Pokedex entry for every Sinnoh Pokemon (other than Manaphy). One of these Pokemon can only be seen by facing the Champion (outside trading).
When you get the Natty Dex, you also get the Pokeradar and access to Pal Park. The Pokeradar lets you find rare and National-dex-only Pokemon, and the Pal Park lets you import Pokes from 3rd gen carts. Until then, you can't catch non-Sinnoh Pokes. At all. |
Oh I see. But dont you get the National Dex by defeating the elite 4? I dont think you would need to capture all Sinnoh Pokemon to get it. I would really hate that. I dont like to capture lots of pokes, just the ones that might be useful.

And if you would like Zangoose that badly, you can always ask the people in the Wireless Trade Corner forum for one, as you don't need to wait for the National Dex to trade for non-Sinnoh Pokémon, just need it to catch it yourself. |
