Noob Question...
Alright, so I'm browsing through this place, right, and I see a lot of topics about shinies. Now I know what the dillio is on the shiny odds, but I see a lot of people talk about chaining pokemon. So..... What is chaining?! I mean, I like pokemon and all, but this is a technique I've never heard of before. Can someone please fill me in?!

Chaining, with regards to the Pokeradar, is where the Pokeradar is used only
once to initiate a chain of the same Pokemon. This means that if the Pokeradar was used and a Bidoof was found, then a chain of Bidoofs would be able to follow. Why anyone would want to chain Bidoofs though, I do not know. i copied and pasted this from gamespot. |
Basically, you can use the Pokeradar to ensure a wild Pokemon encounter, then depending on how the grass shakes and how far away it is, you can try to make sure you keep running into (and must defeat or catch to keep the chain going) the same species. As you chain more pokemon, I think most people suggest at least 40 or so, your odds of finding a shiny Pokemon are much better- the grass will sparkle a lot when a shiny Pokemon's there. If you try a search I think you could find much more detailed guides on how to keep your chain going and stuff

Its when u use the "pokeradar" and a max. repel. Then u look in the grass for sparkling patches and chain your pokemon u want to catch.
I once chained approx.40-50 roselias and then a stupid staravia appears out of no where...-.-' so be careful and only go to the sparkling patch thats nearest to u. Hope tht helps. |
look for chaining techniques on youtube, have some common sense about u though, as there are those that take great pleasure in making fake videos to trick people into stuff!!

There is a faq on Gamespot for this.
