need a good moveset and nature for Metagross

If I'm right Metagross is the final evolution. Ok but I need a good EV spread, moveset, and nature. I was guessing Modest nature with 252 sp. atk , 252 speed and 4 HP. Am I right?

Angelic Diablo July 26th, 2007 4:52 PM

Hmm not quite, Metagross isn't designed for a special sweep

[email protected]/Life Orb
Adament Nature
EVs: 252 Atk, 104 Spd, 152 HP
-Meteor Mash
-Earthquake
-Agility
-Thunderpunch/Zen Headbutt/Explosion

pooptarts92 July 26th, 2007 4:53 PM

thanks dude. i really thought since he was pychic he'd be a good special sweep...

EW!!It's way better a physical sweeper, with:

Metagross
EV's:Attk 252/Spd 252/HP 6
Adamant/Jolly
-Zen Headbutt
-Ice Punch/Thunder Punch/Fire Punch
-Earthquake
-Magnet Rise/Meteor Mash

As for item, IDK

Eos Aduro July 26th, 2007 4:59 PM

Uuuh, Metagross's base attack is almost 100 better than Special Attack. So, Natures, if you're going for a sweeper, do Adamant. And if you're EV training, speed wont be a big priority. Its already low. Full on attack first. Id pump up HP to have more endurance. Im a big endurance guy myself though. Maybe max out defense for a boost. And moves...

Meteor Mash
Hammer Arm
Explosion
Giga Impact

Well thats what I would do, Ive never really used Metagross.

MegaDitto July 26th, 2007 5:16 PM

Metagross @ Choice Band

-Zen Headbutt
-Hammer Arm
-Earthquake
-Meteor Mash

*leaves*

Eos Aduro July 26th, 2007 5:24 PM

Oh, and everyone who said thunder/fire/ice punches, I just checked serebii, it cant learn them. And I have a new one

Metoer MAsh
Brick Break
Earthquake
Zen Headbutt

MegaDitto July 26th, 2007 5:26 PM

You just replaced Hammer Arm with Brick Break.

In D/P no, its true but, the emerald Move Tutors in the Battle Frontier will teach it the puches. You would have to transfer to have one though. It can't learn Fire Punch it seems but the other two can be aquired.

I'd go with.

Thunder Punch/Ice Punch if its available if not, Zenn HeadBut
Meteor Mash
Earthquake
Explosion.

Nooooo! *slaps you* Only ever even consider Jolly on Metagross if you're going to give him Choice Scarf. Metagross has the Defenses to be able to take a few hits when he needs to, and Agility solves all of his problems. But he will usually never be able to outrun most of his primary threats. Also, Magnet Rise on Metagross is more of a novelty... a levitating Metagross is so much harder to take down, but since it only lasts for 5 turns, or until you switch, the slot could be used better.

As always, the usual Metagross tends to be the best:

Metagross @ Leftovers/Life Orb
Adamant Nature
EVs: 152 HP, 252 Atk, 106 Speed
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Agility
- Thunderpunch/Explosion

Hammer Arm could work on a Choice Band Metagross (or if you don't have access to Thunderpunch; Zen Headbutt could work too, but really only to take out Heracross), to take out Blissey. But someone would be crazy to send Blissey into Metagross. Thunderpunch is preferred by a long shot, since it OHKOs Gyarados, specifically Dragon Dance Gyarados. Plan: switch in as soon as Gyara switches in and DD's up, Agility, survive an Earthquake, and OHKO with Thunderpunch (Metagross can survive an Earthquake from a Gyarados after ONE Dragon Dance... so you gotta do it quick. And he survives by an inch, so be prepared to lose Metagross sometime soon).

I would only consider using Explosion if you give Metagross a Life Orb.It really does work perfectly... you Agility up, pwn until his health is down, and Explode for a final OHKO on anything that doesn't resist it... and even then, Skarmory takes HEAVY damage from it.

Anti July 26th, 2007 7:28 PM

Metagross is effective using ice punch on the nasty ground types and EQ on fire types. Those two attacks cover his weaknesses.

Basically, use agility and three physical moves.

Yes, Explosion isn't really needed, and we have AgilityGross to replace that. and use T-Punch for the lat slot.
