Macho Brace VS other items

Well, there are those new items that you can get as prizes in the Battle Tower...the like...Power Brace, Sash...ect. And I was wondering what the difference is between them. I mean, the Macho Brace doubles the EVs gained, and from what I understand you get +4 EVs every time you level up with the Power items right? Or do you get +4 for each battle? I'm confused! Could someone help me out?

I've been wondering the same thing...I'm not sure. Anyone else have a clue? :/

It's after every battle. So if you battle a Magikarp with Macho Brace, you'll get two Spd. EVs (1 spd. from the magikarp x 2 from Macho Brace). You'll get 5 Spd. EVs altogether if you have Power Anklets on (1 spd. from the magikarp + 4 from the Power Anklet).

Macho Brace: # of EVs x2 for any EVs
Power _____: # of EVs +4 for a specific EV stat, depending on which item you use.

Of course, I don't know how Pokerus factors into the Power items. Does it double, then +4, or is it +4 then doubled?

The Pokerus doubles afterwards. I've tried it.

I got this out of some forum in nintendo I forgot.

Equation goes like this:

x + y = t

x = EV's from pokemon
y = EVs boosted from Power Items (+4)
t = Total EVs

Now with Pokerus we multiply the whole left side of the equation by 2 so...

2(x + y) = t

Now assume we have a pokemon that grants 2 points per battle...

2(2 + 4) = 12

You're math is a bit off. Pokerus doesn't effect the items, only EVs. So it would be like this.

x = EV's from pokemon
y = EVs boosted from Power Items (+4)
t = Total EVs

(2 * x) + y= t

For example, we get 2 evs in a battle against Gastrodon

(2 * 2) + 4= 8

i read somewhere pokerus also affects the item though. hmmm, i wouldn't know because i always trained the hard way(well, i use vitamins so that gets me half way there). none of my pokemon has pokerus.

I can hand over a pokerus poke, if you need. But I did experiments (involving a LOT of berries) and it seems that I'm right, though it might be inconclusive.

Power Items > Macho Brace

sims796 July 30th, 2007 4:55 PM

Ah, but with pokerus, the most you can get with a power item is 10 EVs

Lets use Gengar. After beating him, you get three sp.atk EVs.

so, with power items AND pokerus
(3 * 2) + 4=10

3 EVs, doubled by pokerus, added with power item

With Macho Brace
(3 * 2) * 2= 12

3 EVs, doubled by pokerus, doubled again by Macho Brace
