Questions on Natures

Ok so I plan on making a EV trained Dragonite (Attack & Speed), but I don't know what nature my Dratini should have, any tips?

And another thing is, to spread pokerus does the pokemon with pokerus have to be in the first slot when I battle to spread it to other members?

Hmm, so far all your opinons are good, I might go with the Jolly & Dragon Dance, but I still need to make a moveset for him. And If I do go with the Jolly how should I EV train him, Attack & Speed?

Does this moveset sound good so far, Dragon Claw, Dragon Dance, Flamethrower/FirePunch. I'm not sure about the 4th attack and if he should learn Flamethrower(Special Attack), or FirePunch(Attack) because with Jolly his Speical Attack is going to be lower then his Attack.

Shift July 30th, 2007 9:14 PM

You should breed for Jolly. - Special Attack for Speed. And Dragonite already has high attack.

Cross July 30th, 2007 9:47 PM

There's ways to do it. It depends.

You could sort out both and give it Dragon Dance.
You could give it Jolly nature with EVs and Dragon dance.
Or you could give it Adamant with Dragon Dance also.

I'd go with Jolly DDer, but hey, it's your Dragonite.

Can someone post a list of what each nature adds to EVs? It would help me out a lot :).

Exokriz July 31st, 2007 11:51 AM

They dont really add to Evs they just boost the base stat higher.

Ok, so I'm going to go with that but which stats should I train?

I don't think so. The only thing is though you can't have a pokemon that has been cured of pokerus in the party, or else it won't spread.

Uhh I know how to EV but when you say "252 Atk, 252 spd, 4 def" I have no clue what that means, and I know atk means attack ect., I just don't know what those numbers mean :(.

Ev's, or Effort Values. here is a list of Common pokemon to train for in that stats,
Attack

Bibariel
Krickutune
Shinx
Snover

Speed
Starly
Staravia
Combee
Pachirisu
Buizel
Floatzel
Buneary

Bronzor
Bronzong
Bonsly ( Trophy Garden i think).
Drapion (keep fighting the First Elite Four Member). go look up Serebii Dp Pokedex, or Serebii.Net, and keep scrolling down once you click on and you'll see a list of Stats. Hp, Attack, Defense, Speed, Special.Att Sp.Def, Pokedex. note that this isn't the part in the Grey. otherwise, it would replace Pokedex with "Total". some other things to note are, The door to the Route that Leads to the Trophy Garden is right by the Entrace to Heartrome city. and once you enter the "Trophy Garden". you go to the Door to the Right, and you will see that the Guy in Front of you is the Trophy Garden owner, and he will say a Pokemon is in the Garden Each Day. Also, the Verses Seeker (sp?) obtained by Dawn or Lucas, will allow you to rechallennge the Trainers with the Not so Common Found probably nowhere else. and the common pokemon are found in the wild. btw, this is the Ev Training Part. btw again. lucas is if you chose the Female Charactar, and Dawn if you chose the Male Charactar

So what you mean is, say a Pokemon gives 1 Attack EV, I'd have to beat 252 of those, thats what you mean by "252 Attack"?

Yep, that's exactly what i mean. But there is a Way to shorten the Process you know the items like Carbos, Hp, Protein, Iron, and Calcium. these raise Ev's to a Total of 100. But that's not all, there is another Way to Shorten the Process. Pokerus, and the Item "Macho Brace". Double Ev's. in addition to those, there is the dp Power Items. these consist of, Power Bracer (redueces the attack stats), Power Belt (reduces the Defense Stats), Power Lens (Special Atk), Power Band (special defense), power Anklet (Both Promotes Speed, but lowers Speed in Battle), Power Weight (Hp) these all Promote the Corrosponding Stats after each Battle, but lowers the speed stats while you're still battling. so therfore, the power Anklet would promote the speed after the battle, not Incresing and Reducing it while you're still battling. Btw, there are the Ev Reducing Berries as well. so if you lost track of them, you can start from the Beggning
Pomeg Berry (Lowers Speed), Kelpsy Berry (Lowers Attack), Qualot Berry (lowers base Defense Stats, Hondew Berry (Lowers Special Attack, Grepa Berry (lowers Special Defense Stats, Tamato Berry (Lowers Speed). so you see, Nintendo has provided us with a Supply of Ev Items we will Never Forgot.

Roost/Aerial/Stone Edge/Dragon Pulse/Outrage. Dragon Pulse/ice Beam/Outrage can be used to take down other dragons such as Garchomp/Salamence. (yes i Added Ice Beam). btw, don't use Safeguard with this set. besides, he's bulky enough to take hit's while he's confused. unless the oppponent switches out. is this for Competitive? btw, what what is the Ev thing 1, 2, or 3? and is the power item you're using? and the Ev (not the number one) is it Hp, Attack, Defense, Special Defense, or Special Attack? the power Item you'll know but looking, but you'll know go look up Serebii Dp Pokedex, or Serebii.Net, and keep scrolling down once you click on and you'll see a list of Stats. Hp, Attack, Defense, Speed, Special.Att Sp.Def, Pokedex. by this. copied and pasted from one of my above posts. Edit: http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/

I might go with Roost, so that means the moveset would be,
DragonClaw, DragonDance, FirePunch, Roost/IceBeam

And say if the pokemon gives 2 Attack EVs and my dratini has pokerus and is holding a power anklet, how many EV's would I get?

Richard Lynch August 1st, 2007 3:45 PM

Actually, Dragonite is really very bulky... he won't be crumbling to anything but Dragon or Ice attacks, so I'd suggest going with Adamant. After a few Dragon Dances, his threats will be outrun and massacred.

Just my 2cents.

Yep, Adamant/Jolly Nature. Lonely/Brave can be Considered as well. i posted a link to the site above if you didn't see it, (Serebii). Edit: a Useful site as well, http://m2a.wikispaces.com/analyses Btw, Dragonite would be One/Two Hit KO'ed Right? (by Draco Meteor). Edit; Good News, Lord Mike has just made A Q&A Thread http://http://pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=97470

Well Adamant has more HP but less attack right? And Jolly is going to make him fast with high attack and he's going to have Dragon Claw & Fire Punch so if he's fast and strong he can 1 hit some of those dragon & ice types before they hit him.

Oh boy. There are no nature that increase or decrease HP growth. Adamant is +Att/-Sp. Att. Since you're not using special attacks, adamant is the best choice. Think about it this way. People say dragonite is slow, when actually his speed is just below average with 80 base speed. His base attack is 135 I believe. Two dragon dances and speed is doubled and same goes for attack. So it would be like having 270 base attack and 160 base speed. You'd be almost unstopable.

Trust me, we would be having the Hp increasing Nature on Blissey almost always if there was one. it would be basiacally a replacement for Bold.

Anti August 1st, 2007 4:49 PM

Yeah, then blissey would be on EVERY team. Yeah jolly is also very good on dragonite. Adamant rules though.

*sniff* I hope they make that in the next generation.

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
EVs: 188 HP / 200 Atk / 68 Def / 52 SDef
-Aerial Ace / Outrage
-Earthquake
-Dragon Dance
-Brick Break / Fire Punch / Stone Edge / Thunderpunch

Best one up to date IMO.

Yea I think Im'a go with that but now I need to get an adamant dratini and it was hard enough hatching a jolly, but thanks for the info. :)

Anti August 1st, 2007 5:03 PM

The everstone trick takes a lot of time off your hands. Speeds the process up so quickly. Check the Q&A thread if you don't know the everstone trick. I explained it there.

If you have an Adamant Nature Female/Ditto you can breed it off by giving those two, which ever one you have everstone. read http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=97470
