Tangrowth help!

Double battle Tangrowth. Is this EV spread any good?

[email protected] Rock
Trait: Chlorophyll
Nature: Timid/Modest
EVs: 252 SP. ATK/ 252 SP. DEF/ 4 SPEED

Sunny Day
Solarbeam
Toxic/Ancientpower/Sludgebomb
Focus Blast

Its paired up with a fire type, RMT(Rate My Tangrowth:))?

Lord Mike August 1st, 2007 3:18 PM

Tangrowth @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
EVs: 240 HP / 132 Def / 136 SAtk
-Energy Ball / Giga Drain
-Leech Seed
-Reflect / Sleep Powder / Toxic
-Focus Blast

Hope that helps. Bold for physical wall mainly. Too high of a Defense to be put to waste...

If you want a REAL Tangrowth set, try these:

Tangrowth @Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 6 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
-Power Whip
-Leech Seed
-Sleep Powder
-Knock Off

One of the most recommended Tangrowth sets. This guy can survive so many physical hits, even supereffective ones. Plus, it's got an array of annoying support moves to help you out. Leech Seed and Sleep Powder are very annoying together and with Knock Off, you can ruin so many Pokemon that rely on their item.

Tangrowth @Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Spd
Adamant Nature
-Power Whip
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide
-Swords Dance

Tangrowth has a nice physical movepool and can be a formidable sweeper. Power Whip is your key attack of course. Earthquake and Rock Slide provide coverage against Pokemon that are resistant to Grass - Flying, Fire, and Steel types.

Tangrowth @Heat Rock/Lum Berry
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
Ability: Chlorophyll
-Solarbeam
-Hidden Power [Fire]
-Sunny Day
-Sleep Powder

This revolves around Tangrowth's Chlorophyll ability. It just like any other Sunny Day sets you may have seen. HP Fire gets a boost in the Sun and helps against Steel and enemy Grass types. Sleep Powder knocks out anything else that tries to counter you.

Togekiss @Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 172 SAtk / 84 SDef
Modest Nature
Ability: Serene Grace
-Air Slash
-Thunder Wave
-Aura Sphere
-Wish/Roost

Paraflinch Togekiss is very annoying. It can drive you mad by paralyzing your Pokemon, flinching them 60% of the time with a Serene Grace boosted Air Slash, and simply recovering off any damage when it gets hit.

Togekiss @Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 28 SDef
Calm Nature
Ability: Serene Grace
-Air Slash
-Wish/Roost
-Nasty Plot
-Baton Pass

Togekiss is one of those few Pokemon that learns both Nasty Plot and Baton Pass. The special sweepers on your team will love you when you pass them a doubled Sp. Attack boost.

Togekiss @Choice Specs/Choice Scarf
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
Ability: Serene Grace
-Tri-Attack
-Air Slash
-Aura Sphere
-Grass Knot

Like any Pokemon with good Sp. Attack and a diverse special movepool, Togekiss works great as a Choice sweeper. This gives Togekiss an oppurtunity to use Tri-Attack and Grass Knot helps against hefty opponents that can be harder to take down, like Rhyperior or Milotic.

Courtesy of aragornbird. Im using the first moveset he wrote, its very useful as I have a weakness to outraging garchomps..

Anti August 1st, 2007 5:38 PM

Yeah, those are some good sets. Use one of those.

Akuchiki Byakuya August 1st, 2007 5:40 PM

I use this

[email protected]
Impish 252 hp/252 def
power whip
leech seed
knock off
sleep powder

Anti August 1st, 2007 5:45 PM

I think that was the first set on tha long list. That one is really good.

Azonic August 1st, 2007 5:45 PM

The first one is a single battle one.

I wanted mine to be a Special Attacker. I guess I put sunnybeamer for speed and to help the fire type.

OK, I'm debating, Stun Spore, Sleep Powder, or Toxic?

Stun Spore - May have a chance of attacking, but the effect lasts forever.

Sleep Powder - Foe is unable to attack momentarily

Toxic - Foe is able to attack, poison damage gradually worsens.

Hmmm... Any suggestions? Oh yes, and Leech Seed is down right switching out.

Akuchiki Byakuya August 1st, 2007 5:46 PM

I know, I didn't really read the list because I already kinda had the moveset picked out.

Azonic August 1st, 2007 5:48 PM

Yeah, yours is single battle too, I really dislike Knock Off, you can only use it one time :(.

Any suggestions for the Powders(and Toxic)?

Akuchiki Byakuya August 1st, 2007 5:50 PM

Well if there is a sleep clause I suggest toxic but if not then definatly sleep powder so that you don't have to worry about two pokemon attacking you, only one.

Anti August 1st, 2007 5:55 PM

Forgot about sleep clause. Toxic is a good alternative. Or a stat move or something.

Azonic August 1st, 2007 5:55 PM

OK, any suggestions for the EV spread, SP .ATKer?

Akuchiki Byakuya August 1st, 2007 5:57 PM

Nope, even in a double battle you should at least go 252 defense/100 attack or special attack/152 hp

Azonic August 1st, 2007 6:01 PM

So I shouln't max out Sp. DEF, only way to at least tank it?

Akuchiki Byakuya August 1st, 2007 6:02 PM

I guess if you wanted you could go with careful and max special defense but it probably still won't be able to take an ice beam or flamethrower.

Azonic August 1st, 2007 6:52 PM

OK I'd rather stick with DEF. I already maxed out SP .ATK, this is what I'm planning for:

252 SP. ATK/ 100 DEF/156 HP

this OK?

Akuchiki Byakuya August 1st, 2007 6:59 PM

It can take hits and it's definatly now tank material so go for it but you'd better have chlorophyll if you are using it as a tank.

Azonic August 1st, 2007 7:05 PM

OK here's what I got

[email protected] Rock
Trait: Chlorophyll
Nature: Modest/Calm/Bold
EVs: 252 SP. ATK/ 100 DEF/ 156 HP

Sunnyday
Solarbeam
Sleep Powder/Toxic
Focus Blast

I think we should have another attacking move because Chlorophyll heightens speed, and it is good to use an attack type move with high speed.

Anti August 1st, 2007 7:13 PM

Synthesis heals to full health in the sun. I recommend that.

Azonic August 2nd, 2007 5:30 AM

Tangrowth can't learn Synthesis!!!

Should I stick with Sleepowder or switch into an attacking move?

Shiraishi August 2nd, 2007 5:37 AM

Yea..tangrowth with synthesis would be amazing :o I might go with meganium :(

Lord Mike August 2nd, 2007 5:49 AM

Meganium @ Leftovers
Trait: Overgrow
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Def / 16 SDef
-Aromathreapy
-Reflect
-Leaf Storm
-Toxic

My Meganium walls pretty well if you ask me.

And Leech Seed-Sleep Powder Tangrowth is the best one...

Azonic August 2nd, 2007 6:11 AM

Leech Powder Tangrowth is standard for single battles, the only way for Tangrowth to be good is sweeping.

I'm sticking with Tangrowth.
