I just had a thought

In some areas where you have to fight wild 2-on-2 battles, if you want to catch one of the pokemon you have to defeat the other one first. So, what if both of the pokemon were shiny. How would you react to that?

Extric August 3rd, 2007 5:31 PM

Most of the time when I fight double wild battles they are the same Pokémon, so if I got two shinies in one battle (though I doubt I ever will) I would just finish off the other Pokémon and catch the last shiny.

Well, if they were different pokemon, I would find out which was a more common pokemon and which was the rarer pokemon. I'd obviously go for the rarer one.

Ayano Katagiri August 3rd, 2007 5:53 PM

I'd just go for the one that I like better... or has the better colouring effect. It kinda does suck that you can't catch more than one in a double battle.

but i bet u anything the person you're battling with would faint the pokemon

So the first thing to do would be to faint your partner. XD Though I would feel rather guilty about doing that, even to an NPC...so I hope it never comes to that. >.>

An NPC tried to kill my pokemon, the jerk D:< Because of that, my pokemon fainted during the next turn before it could attack. It was during the battle with the two commanders at Mt.Cornet before you battle Cyrus. I was so ticked. I had to turn off my game and re-start the battle. I'll never forget that.

Well i always laugh at my partner, when i always use earthquake, to kill everything in path(literally), i've done that so many times, i lose sympathy for my partner's pokemon, cause its so weak, and it gets in the way.

The chance of finding a shiny is around 0.01%. The chance of finding two shinies in the same battle is half of that. A million zeny to whomever legally makes that encounter. :P

So basically you mean its 1/16384 chance to run into 2 shines at once, xD lol. Thats the odds to winning that million.

Wait a sec.. shouldn't it be smaller than half the normal chance? As the chances of one is 1/8192 and probablity-wise you multiply to get the outcome.

=> 1/8192 * 1/8192 = 1/
67 108 864

Anyway... it's a small and very unlikely chance... xD

Lord Mike August 4th, 2007 6:54 AM

Yup, that's the right math.

This is thread shouldn't be here IMO. Its pointless because it's probably never going to happen, and besides, what do you think you should do. Would you go for the Shiny Starly over the Shiny Scyther? Try using a little common sense.

Michiru552 August 4th, 2007 8:13 AM

As annoying as it would be I'd just finish one off and catch last 1

baseballdude August 4th, 2007 8:33 AM

i would probably go crazy choosing which one unless it was like a bidoof and a rare pokemon

BrainDamage August 4th, 2007 7:56 PM

or in some derranged hack version of pokemon, you fight lugia and ho-oh at the same time: they somehow both managed to be shiny. choose wisely

then again the odds also get smaller, depending out of both of those shinys you run into, is the one your want, at this case multiply by another fraction by the number of pokemon existing in that area.
