Pearl Team Goal

Okay, so I'm currently playing Pearl and am training some Pokemon to be my "best Pokemon team". But, I am also working on a plan for that best Pokemon team--a plan I might need help with...

I currently have all of the Pokemon for this future team--except Purugly. So that's why I won't take suggestions for natures on anyone but Purugly.

*If you see two or more attacks listed on one line, that means I can't decide between those 2+ attacks.

Roserade
Worry Seed/Water Sport
Leech Seed
Toxic Spikes
Petal Dance/Energy Ball
(holding Persim Berry or Leftovers)
(Poison Point ability)
(Sassy nature)
*As I already have a special sweeper on my team, and as Roselia learns all these neat effect-based attacks...

Luxray
Spark/Thunder Fang
Charge
Crunch
(Suggestions for fourth move?)
(Rivalry ability)
(holding Shuca Berry)
(Naughty nature)
*Initially would have been my physical sweeper, but doesn't learn many types of physical attacks...

Vespiquen
Attack Order
Heal Order
Toxic/Confuse Ray
Power Gem/Sludge Bomb
(Pressure ability)
(holding Lum Berry)
(Rash nature)
*Hmm... Power Gem, which is super-effective to more types, or Sludge Bomb, which does more damage and may poison?

Purugly
Body Slam
Aerial Ace
Shadow Claw/Dig/Faint Attack
Hypnosis
(Thick Fat or Own Tempo ability?)
(Will go for Adamant nature)
(holding Chople Berry)
*Currently I have a Drifblim on my team with Gust and the Stockpile trio--is this Purugly a good replacement?

Mismagius
Shadow Ball
Perish Song/Lucky Chant
Pain Split/Dark Pulse/Psychic
Confuse Ray/Mean Look
(Levitate ability)
(holding Focus Band or Colbur Berry)
(Bold nature)
*I'm tempted to teach her Magical Leaf, but as I already have a Roselia...

Empoleon
Surf
Flash Cannon
Swords Dance/Mist/Protect/Stealth Rock
Earthquake/Drill Peck/Ice Beam
(Torrent ability)
(holding Liechi or Petaya Berry)
(Lonely nature)
*Initially my special sweeper, but only learns three types of special attacks (unless you count Hyper Beam). Could he possibly become a mixed sweeper instead with his Lonely nature?

Is this supposed to be a competitive or in-game team?

Ninetales1 August 4th, 2007 1:22 AM

If I say competitive, I'll probably never get around to any competitions... so it's most likely an in-game team.

Jimmyray August 4th, 2007 1:24 AM

Go with Thunder fang on Luxray because he has better Attack than Special attack. Discharge for Luxray's last move because it will be twice as powerful when using Charge.

Ninetales1 August 4th, 2007 1:46 AM

...Spark is physical, not special. Yes, I thought about Discharge for the last move... but would it be okay to have two attacks of the same type--even if one's physical and one's special?

Jimmyray August 4th, 2007 1:56 AM

Yeah, and sorry, I didn't realize that Spark was physical ¬_¬ It would be okay to have two same type attacks on one pokemon.

Meh... doing the ones I know about. ;)

Spark > Thunder Fang. Same amount of Power, less accuracy on Thunder Fang. Charge = useless. Fire Fang for those steel types like Bronzong. Try Choice Band or Choice Scarf > Shuca Berry as no doubt, you'll probably KO from a Ground type attack anyway.

Empoleon
Surf
Grass Knot
Stealth Rock
Ice Beam
(Torrent ability)
(holding Leftovers)
(Modest nature)

Don't go for a mixed sweeper Empoleon, its Attack is far too low for it. Lonely nature won't do... that'll be a waste. Breed for a new one, preferably Modest would be good.

Erm... just a suggestion: the next time you rate a team, please read the rest of the person's post...

Besides, the only way I can breed my Prinplup is to wait until I beat the Elite Four, then get a Ditto--or perhaps just restart my game.

But at least now I'm completely sure of keeping Spark instead of Thunder Fang! Thanks!

I'm just saying that the natures would be better suited than what you have ATM. Anyway, with the two I was looking at, Luxray is easy to catch in the wild and if you ever feel like breeding, Ditto's always an option for a new one.

I found that problem too, so I just soft resetted for a female starter so breeding can happen later on without too much trouble.

I'm going to turn this team into a combat team.

And that's what I'm here for =)

If you don't want to take nature suggestions, your call...
But if you change your mind, breeding always helps.

*If you see two or more attacks listed on one line, that means I can't decide between those 2+ attacks.
And btw changes are in bold

Roserade
Sleep Powder
Leech Seed
Toxic Spikes
Energy Ball
Item: Black Sludge
Ability: Natural Cure
(Timid nature)
*As I already have a special sweeper on my team, and as Roselia learns all these neat effect-based attacks...
You don't need Poison Point as an ability, when you already have Toxic Spikes.

Luxray
Thunderbolt
Ice Fang
Crunch
Fire Fang
(Rivalry ability)
Item: Life Orb / Choice Band
(Naive nature)
*Initially would have been my physical sweeper, but doesn't learn many types of physical attacks...
Thunderbolt is better than a weak Thunder Fang by a long shot as it kills a lot of bird-brained Flying Types with little to no effort at all.

Vespiquen
Attack Order
Heal Order
Toxic / Sludge Bomb
Power Gem
(Pressure ability)
Item: Leftovers
(Relaxed nature)
*Hmm... Power Gem, which is super-effective to more types, or Sludge Bomb, which does more damage and may poison?
Not a strong need for Confuse Ray if you ask me.

Purugly
Body Slam
Substitute
Shadow Claw
Hypnosis
(Thick Fat ability)
(Will go for Jolly nature)
Item: Leftovers
*Currently I have a Drifblim on my team with Gust and the Stockpile trio--is this Purugly a good replacement?
EWW STOCKPILE =(
This makes a much better replacement.

Mismagius
Shadow Ball
Will-O-Wisp / Protect
Perish Song
Mean Look
(Levitate ability)
(holding Leftovers)
(Bold nature)
*I'm tempted to teach her Magical Leaf, but as I already have a Roselia...

Empoleon
Surf
Grass Knot
Agility
Ice Beam
(Torrent ability)
(holding Life Orb / Leftovers)
(Modest nature)
*Initially my special sweeper, but only learns three types of special attacks (unless you count Hyper Beam). Could he possibly become a mixed sweeper instead with his Lonely nature?
nonotrly

And alas, I have created... IN-GAME COMBAT TEAM.
This team probably won't do good on Wi-Fi even with my lazy tinkerings.

If I were in a less tired mood, I'd replace pretty much everything.
