Castform and gang

Does ne1 take da time 2 raise Castform? I think he's kinda cool, but starts out with a pretty weak moveset. What is a good moveset for him? Would u reccomened him or Rayquaza in my party? I'm considering Battle Tower, too. Yeah, i no my Rayquaza is hacked, but he is a reflection of the shiny Rayquaza i took 51 tries to make shiny in my friends game just so i could trade him over only 2 hav him b deleated. Still, Latias is the leader of my party, speaking of which does ne1 hav a decent moveset for her? And sorry Frostweaver, but i'm not in2 stallers, hazers, psuedohazers yet. This is my 1st file, and i'm goin through the game my style. So i need a POWERFUL moveset with good ATTACKS dat do DAMAGE! Thanz a million, guys. In case u want 2 go all out, i also have Blazikin, Oddish (i hate his evolved stages), Aggron, and Mew (but he is GREAT w/ Psychic, Flamethrower, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt). Yes i took ur advice there Frostweaver, w/ accuracy ova power. Thanz guys.

PS. Does Castform have brests (excuse my language) or r those just bumps for movement? Mayb he has swollen feet?

PPS. CAN NE1 C MY BUDDY ICON (MEW) CAUSE I CAN'T, YET WHEN I GO 2 EDIT 1 IT SAYS I HAV 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frostweaver June 1st, 2004 2:59 PM

Castform is a cloud so of course it got "bumps"... real clouds in the sky do too.

Castform can't stall/haze/pseudohaze/"advanced stuff" anyway... it has to sweep as that's the only thing it can do ;p Ignore all of the EV stuff or whatever you don't understand, but I'm used to typing them out as well so others who are also interested in Castforms and are already in their 4th+ files can try it out.

Castform -[sp.atk + / atk -] @ leftovers/quick claw
EV: Sp.atk adn Speed
-Solarbeam
-sunny day
-weather ball
-ice beam/thunderbolt

Sunny day setup to change to a fire type, and weatherball for a STAB powerful fire attack. Solarbeam to counter water weakness, and the other stuff can be used against other types too.

Mew9 June 2nd, 2004 12:15 PM

Thanz for da advice, Frosty. I appreciate u puittin it my my non-advanced level. Also, thanz for clearin up da cloud/bump bit. Dats a relief. However, I have a Mew w/ Psychic, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, and Flamethrower and an Oddish with Soolarbeam, Leaf Blade, Toxic, and Earthquake. So wat moves should I give Casty?

Frostweaver June 2nd, 2004 2:13 PM

I really don't do gamesharked Pokemon will illegal moves. I'm all fine with cheating devices as long as the final result is legal as well (I don't care if you train using cheating devices, but the final resutls of the trained Pokemon can't be something with like 999 all stats)

Mew as a special sweeper should have...

Mew- [sp.att + / atk -] @ leftovers/petaya berry
EV: sp.att + anything but attack
-substitute/softboil
-psychic
-2 elemental move/calm mind

the point is: Mew needs to know softboil either to heal, or substitute abuse to activate petaya. Calm mind can also be used to boost stats. However, it is strongly recommanded that Mew go physical attack, or mix sweep as Alakazam > Mew if you're only special sweeping.

A "real" Oddish/Vileplume should have...

Vileplume- [sp.atk/attack + / attack/sp.attack -] @ quick claw
-aromatherapy
-sleep powder/HP Fire/sludge bomb
-sunny day/swords dance
-solarbeam/giga drain

I personally value aromatherapy too much to delete it, but you can if you want to in order to free up some slots.

Xilion_Sword90 June 2nd, 2004 4:25 PM

Cas[email protected] Berry?
-Sunny Day
-Solarbeam
-Flamethrower
-Weather Ball

[email protected]
-Aromatherapy
-Sunny Day
-Solarbeam
-HP Fire/Synthesis

[email protected] Berry
-Shadow Ball
-Swords Dance
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide

Frostweaver June 2nd, 2004 4:28 PM

weather ball and flamethrower are duplicated in this case due to sunny day making weather ball a super flamethrower ^_^;

Xilion_Sword90 June 2nd, 2004 4:54 PM

I just like Flamethrower's Animation too much...

Mew9 June 2nd, 2004 5:46 PM

i c where ur comin from, Frosty. But howabout if i go da opposite end of da spectrum w/ Rain Dance, Surf (or Hydro Pump???), Thunder, and Weather Ball? Dat way i'm not repeating two moves (Flamethrower and Solarbeam). But wait, i already deleted Rain Dance..........wait!!!! The Move Tutor!!!!!!!! But he wants a heart piece or sometin............ WHERE CAN I GET ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frostweaver June 2nd, 2004 6:31 PM

weather ball becomes the type of move that the weather is, so weather ball > surf if it's rain dance.

Tons of Pokemon can thunder/water attack/Rain dance/ice beam (no way you're flamethrowering under the rain as that's just stupid), but NO ONE can use flamethrower [weather ball]/solarbeam/sunnyday/ice beam or tbolt all at the same time except Mew, so it's a very nice movepool that's unique everywhere else.

Mew9 June 4th, 2004 6:33 PM

If u don't hav a water, and hav Flamethrower and Solar Beam, Water Castform is pretty useful. Wat about Rayquaza vs. Latias? Can either be used in Battle Tower?

Frostweaver June 4th, 2004 6:49 PM

yes, and both of them are ubar and can learn anything too... o.o; Plus with such a high stats (and soul dew for latias), they'll put too much moves into good use...

Water Castform isn't as useful really... because whatever water castform can do, a Starmie does the exact same moves except with stronger stats. Fire castform can be considered because of its very unique movepool.

Mew9 June 4th, 2004 6:56 PM

Does uber mean they r unusable in Battle Tower? And water Castform can be good cause he's normal, so he only has a weakness 2 fighting and rock and steel, not common types like Electric and Grass. Plus i hate water Pokemon.
By da way, wat does soul dew do and wat is a good Latias moveset?

I'm also thinkin of replacing Mew (gasp!!!) w/ Absol. Is that a good choice? Since i already hav Thunderbolt (well, Thunder w/ Castform), Flamethrower (well, blaze kick and fire blast w/ Blazikin), Ice Beam (either dat or Blizzard w/ Castform), and Psychic (w/ Latias, or should Latias know mist ball instead?)

Frostweaver June 7th, 2004 3:06 PM

Anything is usable in the battle tower in the lvl 100 division I'm sure. Not sure about the other lvl though. Ubars are not... appreciated by human players though, but I think that I'll rather go up against Rayqy than Skarmory.

Water Castform is... water type. Weak to electric and grass at the same time. Castform's type changes depending on the weather. But there is no rock Castform though even though sandstorm is a weather move.

Soul dew multiplies Latios/Latias special attack and defense by 1.5 automatically, which equates to a free Calm Mind. However, bonus from soul dew cannot be hazed out or psych uped.

Latias is completely flexible and can do too much stuff (wish and recover for healing, almost every move in the special category blah). It depends on your entire team what she should know. Only very few Pokemon like Dodrio or Magneton has a fixed moveset that "they must know THIS moveset and ONLY THIS." (or close to no flexibility)

Theren's nothing wrong with replacing a Pokemon with another. It all depends on its influence on the rest of your team. It's the entire team that counts, not like "whoever has ________ will always win." NO no... Mewtwo's super amnesia is gone long time ago...

and ONCE AGAIN, please do not double post. You can use the edit button in your precious post to add in the extra message.

Mew9 June 8th, 2004 4:17 PM

I don't c wats wrong w/ double posting. but now i'm stuck. Absol just isn't working for me, and i need 1 more 'mon in my party. I beat all da gym leaders and am preparing for da E4, so i can catch almost ne1. I can also hack em. But i'm trying, like Frosty said, 2 stay away from ne more ubers. Don't critique my movesets 2 much (unless u believe in brute force like me) just when i hav 2 moves in 1 slot listed or ask for help. And give a few suggestions for my 6th 'mon, cause i can be picky. My party is:
Latais
Fly
Dragon Claw
Psychic
Hyper Beam

Blaziken (still workin on)
Fire Blast
Brick Break
Blaze Kick
Sand Attack

Oddish
Leaf Blade
Toxic
Solarbeam
Earthquake

Castform
Rain Dance
Weather Ball
Ice Beam (or Hydro Pump?)
Thunder

Aggron
Iron Tail
Iron Defense
Need help w/ his moves badly

Thanz u guys.

Frostweaver June 8th, 2004 9:17 PM

first of all, gameshark MOVES are illegal. If you gameshark, gameshark within "legal results." For example, use gameshark if you're too lazy to chain breed for a egg move, but keep the moves legal like no blading Oddish please...

Double posting is wrong because you're getting a +1 to a number that you didn't deserve. Plus it's called spam, which is pointless and annoying, and STUPID. When you sign up to PC, your life is no longer yours but ours (as long as you stay in PC limit.)

Refer to the link in my signature to improve and fix up some MAJOR mistakes in this team.

Mew9 June 10th, 2004 8:21 AM

Thannz for the advice (sarcastic), but i found a replacement. Armaldo, with: Signal Beam, Rock Slide, Lock-On, and Fissure. Are the last 2 moves good or does ne1 hav better suggestions?

EDIT: R u happy Frosty? By da way, my brute force could beat ur Hazers/Stallers ne day. I like my strategy, thank u very much. And there isn't ne thing wrong w/ my team. By da way, i did chain breed 2 give Oddish Earthquake.

Frostweaver June 10th, 2004 2:16 PM

yes... that's um... very informative?

Oddish illegal moves are: leaf blade, earthquake (the only grass types who can learn it are the 3 starters and Tropius and that's all, while Leaf blade is the sceptile family's signature move special only to them)

Armaldo illegal moves are: all but rock slide. Signal beam is only legal on Smeragle (who can learn anything), Venomoth, Dewgong, Ariados, Yanma, and Volbeat. You have to use HP Bug. Armaldo cannot learn fissure OR lock on, even mind reader.

Pokemon that can learn fissure legally: Dugtrio, Snorlax, Donphan, Wailord, Smeragle, Camperupt, Whiscash, Groudon, Walrein

Pokemon that can learn lock on legally: Magneton, Octillery, Porygon2, Nosepass, 3 Regis

You're fine to not believe me and play your own style. However, do not argue with the facts that most of your Pokemon used gameshark moves. If your friends allow gamesharked moves, then it's fine. But don't expect to play online or participate in official tournaments with them. Not to mention, without pseudohazer/hazer, or those "stalling crap," people just take down your entire team with 2 Pokemon: Ninjask and Tyranitar (provided that it's against a no-illegal moves team)

Bagon June 10th, 2004 2:46 PM

In pvp you will not survive if you really solely on "power-moves". It's called strategy. This team would get owned by a tank, (psuedo)hazer, and any decent sweeper

Frostweaver June 10th, 2004 2:53 PM

However, those illegal movesets will always surprise those tanks beyond all that they can ever imagine... those Blisseys, Weezings and Skarmorys will be shocked when they get hit by a moveset they'll never expect, because that intelligent player would not be expecting those illegal moves. O.o;

Either way, go try out if those "strategy" are useless by going on netbattle.

Mew9 June 14th, 2004 9:29 AM

But the sole purpose of ur hazers is to set all raised stats to normal. I don't believe in rasing stats. So ur hazer is useless. Also, while ur raising stats i'll be chippin away @ ur health, and by da time ur attack waz high enough 2 make a difference, u'll b dead. So ha ha. By da way, i gt rid of my hacked moves and replaced 'em w/ TM's (cept Leaf Blade). For example, Oddish now knows Shadow Ball instead of Earthquake.

Porygon June 14th, 2004 10:55 AM

What in the blue heck d'yall mean by Hazers? Sweepers? Gah! I don't know any of youse guys' terminologies…

Anyway, for Castform, I like to think that Weather Ball, Hail, Sunny Day, and Rain Dance isa good moveset, although untested. I should test it someday.

Mew9 June 14th, 2004 11:01 AM

I'm with u 100% Porygon. Frostweaver haz some messed up strategy dat i find completely useless. R u like me and just resort to brute force? I'll let them confuse themselves while i kick some good old a$$.

Just try NetBattle or go in a competition. Then, you might appreciate Frostweaver's input.

Mew9 June 14th, 2004 11:33 AM

Time 2 get back on track. No hard feelings, ne1. I started a new file and really need help. Yes, i sharked my guys so i could catch 'em early and have all game to train them. Here's wat i have so far:

Charmander
Scratch
Growl
Ember

Wynaut
Crunch
Psychic
Ice Beam
Shadow Ball
(I no his moves r hacked, but with the moveset they give him he is completely useless)

Metagross
Confusion
Metal Claw
Scary Face
Take Down

Vibrava
Bite
Sand-Attack
Faint Attack
Sand Tomb

Huntail
Whirlpool

and
Anorith
Scratch
Harden

I wanted to put a Seviper in, should i? If so, who should he replace? Would u pick Crobat over Seviper? And should i use Huntail or Sharpedo?

Porygon June 14th, 2004 11:35 AM

I'm strategic, but I incorporate force into it. Typically, I don't have any nondamaging moves, though, unless they're good, as in create a strategic advantage against the foe like reducing damage dealt or preventing them from attacking altogether. Often, I'll put high defense over high attack [if you can last longer than they can, you're set].

Also, I like varied elements of attacks; only one or two types of attack, for me, is no good.
