Ruby Update time

  • Off to a bad start right away with tons of paralysis owning me and getting beat by May as a result of said paralysis problems
  • Sumo Man survived against May's Marshtomp with 1 HP. Lucky
  • Owned May and got the Itemfinder
  • Reached Mauville City...after Supah Kick got paralyzed by another Minun >______>
  • Got the Rock Smash HM from the Rock Smash Man
  • Destroyed Wally
  • Dealt with even more paralysis problems in Mauville Gym
  • Absolutley destroyed Wattson
  • Made my way up to Fallarbor Town
  • Got to Meteor Falls and did the whole Team Magma thing
  • Returned to the Mt. Chimney area and dealt with all of Team Magma
  • Chose against catching a Machop since I want to try out Meditite instead when I can catch one later on.
  • Flannery is super smart. She had Sunny Day up from her second Slugma, and didn't use Overheat on Sumo Man at all and instead just chose to spam Body Slam. GG Flannery :P
  • Walked all the way back to Petalburg City and faced Norman, and he was actually challenging with the double Slaking action...and that sounds really wrong.
  • Hariyama can learn Surf? What is this, I don't even...
  • Used my amazing surfing Sumo Man and got over to Route 119
  • Made my way to the Weather Institute and owned all of the Team Magma grunts there
  • Took care of May again
  • Owned a Kecleon before getting the Devon Scope
  • To be honest, the only annoying part about Winona was her Pelliper. Other than that, the battle wasn't super bad despite my type weakness.
  • Made my way over to Mt. Pyre and caught Talah Rama the Meditite, so there's an Earthbound reference there for you :)
  • Owned May so I could buy some Ultra Balls and Hyper Potions for some Dive slave hunting
  • Got Rock Smash off of Supah Kick so I could teach him Aerial Ace
  • Taught Rock Smash to the Zigzagoon I caught after Petalburg Gym that I originally planned to use as a Surf slave.
  • Caught a Tentacool as a future Dive/Waterfall slave
  • Saved at Mt. Pyre

Hoping to get Ruby done this update

  • Dealt with the Mt. Pyre Team Magma Grunts
  • Caught a Wingull as a Fly slave
  • Returned to Slateport to witness Team Magma stealing the sub
  • Returned to Lilycove to take care of Team Magma at their hideout
  • Got the Master Ball for no reason :P
  • Got lost on the way to Mossdeep City, but I got to train up Talah Rama on the way
  • Since I got 2 Rare Candies from Zigzagoon's Pickup, I got Talah Rama evolved into a Medicham at last
  • And as a Medicham, he decimated Mossdeep City Gym. Even Tate and Liza weren't that bad, and I was dreading the battle with them.
  • Got Dive from Steven
  • Headed out for the Seafloor Cavern
  • The dreaded Strength puzzle D:
  • Owned Maxie once and for all
  • Maxie's an idiot
  • Headed to Sootopolis
  • Got owned by Groudon once, then went back in and destroyed him with a critical Blaze Kick from Supah Kick, now the killer of legendaries
  • Dealt with Wallace after taking care of the annoying gym puzzle
  • Made my way to Ever Grande City and tackled Victory Road. Yes, the one that requires Flash for a majority of it :(
  • Almost lost to Wally, but got ultra lucky and managed to survive.
  • Pheobe can die in a pit. I'll leave it at that, and explain myself in a bit.
  • Around 8-9 attempts already, every possible bad thing that could've happened against Glacia actually happened, especially Walrein landing three Sheer Colds and Sumo Man getting frozen twice in a row from Blizzard

I'll just end this update here because I really should get some more levels and money before I try at another attempt at the Elite Four.

Sindrie, it would be much appreciated if you put new Pokemon in spoilers, some people don't know the new ones yet.

Noted.

I'm going to switch to bug type mostly because I have fallen in love with venipede. plus there should be less spoilers this way then.

Steelix is not legal in LeafGreen. I can't count this.

Metagross is not legal for this play through. It can only be obtained post game which means that someone traded it to you. This is why you're supposed to post, so I can catch this stuff during the play through.

I traded it to myself from my Y game in an egg. It was purely mine from the very beginning. I can't prove it since I've currently restarted X with a new team so you'd have to take my word for it.

4. A Pokemon of your type should be caught before challenging the 3rd gym. If a Pokemon of your type cannot be found before the 3rd gym, you may trade/hack in a single low level Pokemon or egg that belongs to your region's Pokedex, as long as it is not RNG abused or bred for Egg moves/Hidden Abilities. Otherwise, do not hack any Pokemon in. For a list games you can hack/trade in, see below. Event obtained Pokemon are also banned, even if obtained with a game you are running your challenge on.

10. You may trade in Pokemon of your type that is not available in your game as long as it is part of your regional Pokedex. It must also be no higher in level than your weakest Pokemon in your team, or be an egg (the prefered option). This allows you to play with Pokemon that would normally be exclusive to the opposite game. Like Stunky and Glameow in Diamond and Pearl respectively.

These are the only rules that allow for trading. Your situation matches neither. Rule 4 cannot be applied to X and Y as all types are in the game before the 2nd gym, and rule 10 doesn't apply because Metang is not version exclusive.

Ruby is finally done! I had no Hyper Potions left by the time I reached Steven, so I had to rely on using sacrifices to revive the more useful party member to handle each of Steven's annoying Pokemon. So glad I took care of Gen 3 first.

Team Chuck (Final)

Spr_3r_257.png

Supah Kick (Blaziken) Lv. 52 M @ Charcoal
Nature: Bashful
Ability: Blaze
Final Stats: 158/145/98/129/90/102
Moves: Earthquake, Slash, Blaze Kick, Aerial Ace

Dude, what happened to you? You were such a good party member for most of the run, but then the endgame came in when Blaze Kick started missing like nobody's business. It really got annoying, and Talah Rama was really stealing the show as soon as he evolved and destroyed Mossdeep Gym pretty much on his own until Tate and Liza. And that constant problem of "Supah Kick's attack missed!" when I picked Blaze Kick really almost cost me the win in some battles until Talah Rama and Sumo Man had to save the day. I'm sorry, but Supah Kick's my LVP this time around. It was official when I battled Wally that Blaziken lost his edge and was barely useful anymore.

Spr_3r_297.png

Sumo Man (Hariyama) Lv. 51 M @ Quick Claw
Nature: Careful
Ability: Guts
Final Stats: 228/145/82/58/92/72
Moves: Strength, Seismic Toss, Dig, Belly Drum

Now, this man here, is a fighter. Sure, most of his stats are bleh as you can see from the final stats above, but this man never dissapointed me in terms of ownage. Sure, Vital Throw forced him to go last, and if I had went with Machoke, I'd have other Fighting moves by now, but this guy has clutched his way out of some jams, especially against Drake, tanking a Fly from Salamence and putting my final Hyper Potion on him and throwing on a Belly Drum for the sweep on Drake. Gonna have to say that Sumo Man is the MVP here, but it was a tough choice between him and Talah Rama.

Spr_3r_308.png

Talah Rama (Medicham) M Lv. 52 @ Amulet Coin
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Pure Power
Final Stats: 140/97/100/67/85/95
Moves: Psychic, Hi Jump Kick, Facade, Brick Break

Since evolving, Talah Rama absolutely destroyed Mossdeep Gym on his own, but after that, he was sort of a star fighter of the team despite not having a super high Attack stat like Supah Kick and Sumo Man. Using Medicham was more of a trial run than anything else. Otherwise, I would've already picked up a Machop and had a Machoke at this point of the game. Medicham was really good with High Jump Kick and Facade, but Brick Break and Psychic sort of just felt like they were...there. I almost never used Psychic or Brick Break during the Elite Four, so they were sort of just...sitting there. Not too useful in terms of moves.

Anyway, Ruby is complete. Next, I'm gonna tackle one of the games where I don't have the luxury of a starter to start off with that'll become part Fighting type. Red has Sabrina and Agatha, and Agatha has mostly just Poison types, but Gold has Morty and Sabrina. I think it's no contest. Gold Version is next for me to tackle.

Time to get started on Gold

  • Started the game
  • Picked Totodile as my slave starter
  • Went and did all the Mr. Pokemon stuff
  • Owned my rival, who I decided to just name Silver because I was lazy :P
  • Headed to Violet City and owned Falkner
  • Ran down and got the Old Rod before returning to Violet City to fish for Poliwag
  • So many Magikarp...
  • Caught Wollywog the Poliwag
  • Went back and beat all the trainers I dodged on purpose
  • Headed into Union Cave and got through it pretty easily
  • Made it to Azalea and owned Team Rocket and dealt with Bugsy
  • During the gym, Wollywog learned Doubleslap...even with no arms.
  • Lost to Silver once, then beat him the second time through thanks to Bayleef staying asleep
  • Caught the Farfetch'd so I could get HM01
  • Got the Headbutt TM
  • Time for the hardest thing ever; catching a Heracross with just Poke Balls D:
