Managed to get a shiny Chikorita through MM when I wasn't going for it, its now a competitive Meganium I love the change to the autumnal colours and I feel like it was a good way of waving out the winter months
Sweet, congrats!! "lol" I never thought of hunting like that, but I guess it really does put you in the mood of the season you're hunting in! I usually try to align my hunts with the seasons (searching for snow Pokémon in the winter, surfing near beaches for Frillish in the summer, etc.), but it looks like you've found a way to "wave" (surf's up, yo! ) out the winter!!
On the 6th I continued to horde hunt for Smoochum.
I got Vanillite #2 in 519 hordes and evolved to Vanillish. I also got Cubchoo #3 in 16 hordes. On the 7th I got Cubchoo #4 in 204 hordes.
On the 9th I got Vanillite #3 in 66 hordes and evolved to Vanilluxe. Then Vanillite #4 in 68 hordes.
Some updates of my current ongoing hunts
Omanyte fossil resets: 3570 (I started this hunt in Nov)
Sentret RE's: 2792
Nidoran Masuda: 1755 (I started this hunt in Sept)
I continued horde hunting for Smoochum and found my 5th shiny Cubchoo. It was almost my second fail as well as I got down to the final 2 Pokemon and accidentally clicked a blank spot. It was a 50/50 chance it wouldn't knock out the shiny and luck was on my side.
It was 187 hordes.
I've been keeping track of the Smoochum hordes and so far I have 8 shinies with 153 Smoochum hordes seen. This ends a long drought as well since my last shiny was on the 9th.
Wooooooooooooooo
Today I did 60 more Omanyte fossil resets and the shiny appeared at 3,734 fossils.
This is my 10 full odds hunt shiny and my 2nd fossil reset shiny in Pokemon Y. Only about 3,000 more fossils then Aerodactyl. I plan to fossil reset for Kabuto next but probably not for while, then will probably masuda for the evolutions in the future.
Congrats on all the new shinies - especially Omanyte!!! Fossils are an awesome way to get into SR hunts, and they're especially cool since like no one ever has shiny fossils, haha. You picked an awesome hunt and I hope you get many more shiny fossils!!!
Have you started on the Kabuto hunt?
I used the Shiny Gen 1 Ditto trick using the Shiny Gyardos so I can breed for some Shinys. Using said Shiny Ditto and a regular female Venomoth in Crystal I got:
Shiny Female Venomoth (Natalie) - Came after 62 eggs. I really like the blue eyes on this Shiny. It is very noticeable and looks great in Gen 2. She will be evolved into Venomoth and eventually sent to Ultra Sun. All VC shinys gets their Hidden Ability so this Pokemon will eventually have the Wonder Skin ability. Venomoth is my favourite Bug Pokemon so I am very pleased to finally get a Shiny one.
Nice!! The Venonat line has some really cool Pokémon, and I've always thought that Venonat had some of the coolest shiny colors. Congrats on getting your favorite of another type!
Do you have more GenII egg hunts planned, or are you going to go on a mini-Quest to get more of your favorite shinies from different types? That actually sounds like a radically-awesome personal quest idea, haha! Pick your favorite Pokémon from each type, and then find it shiny! :happy2:
After not posting anything for a while now. I have pretty much given up on ever getting a shiny Teddiursa through FS encounters and switched to hatching for shiny Caterpie which I managed to get after about 120 eggs. I was half asleep when it hatched and thought I was hallucinating. After that I got Pokémon Moon (FINALLY) and mid play through I found a shiny Flechinder. I was scared to death when I threw my ultra ball at it. After I completed the game I hunted for Whiscash and forgot to keep track of the SOS encounters (which I'm pretty sure were in the triple digit range) but still managed to catch it after it used rest a billion times. Then I moved on to Magby who I caught after 20 SOS encounters (I count by the number of successful calls including the shiny's call). It's freaking adorable! Next on the list is going to be a grass type. No idea which though.
[P.S.] Sorry about the lack of photo proof. I'll try to upload it later.
Congrats on the new shinies, Leòmhann! Awesome going on the Fletchinder - I've never gotten a shiny during one of my playthroughs, but I always thought it would be super cool! I'm used to focusing on the story first and then shiny hunting post-Elite Four with like 400 Ultra Balls, Dusk Balls, and Heal Balls, "lol!" Finding shinies in the middle of exploring a new region must be really thrilling!! I'd be terrified too, though, especially since you can't afford that many Balls early on and your Pokémon are still in danger of fainting! :disbelief:
