EXO: ExtraterrestrialeXploration Operatives

{Set up}

Space has always been considered the final frontier, but it is also the most dangerous. Earth had invested heavily into space exploration, but only recently had it made any success. A planet far out past Pluto in a different solar system was found to have the ability to support life. The Space Station Tyo was established in its orbit to collect more information on the planet. Over the next few months the researchers confirmed that the planet had life and a human friendly atmosphere. Until now no humans had been allowed on the planet's surface.

A team of specialists was deployed to the station to become the first explorers on the planet. This team codenamed EXO was a collection of humans with variable skills to aid in the exploration. On the day of deployment the EXOs entered the drop pods and were launched to the surface.

The mission was a success. The EXOs were able to expand the stations research potential exponentially. Within another few months the station planned to set up a lab on the surface. A new team of EXOs was organized to do this mission and all seemed like a success.

Eight EXOs and a group of thirty scientists prepared a shuttle to take to the surface and be used as a ferry between the station and lab as it was built. Then everything fell apart. Unknown to the EXOs or anyone else a ninth EXO had remained behind, and sabotaged the station. He had planned to destroy the station before the shuttle launched, but the flight had been moved up. The shuttle only barely made it into the planets atmosphere before the station exploded. Debris rained down around them, and pelted the ship. Most of its systems were knocked out, and it only just made a crash landing. Only around half the scientists survived, and the ship was too damaged to fly again without massive repairs. You know rescue will not come, so it is time to complete your mission.

{Rules}

1. Lets face it if you didn't see this coming you never read the rules. Follow the forum's rules on role-playing and everything else.

2. This is a survival style RP. I expect things to break, I expect people to get sick, and I expect you to treat it as a life or death situation. Yes you are EXOs but that doesn't make you invincible. The suits will sustain their energy levels, unless their generator breaks, so you needn't worry about that, but the armor, weapons, and other systems that take a beating will need repair and maintenance.

3. EXO suits cannot be lived in twenty four seven. It is physically demanding to use the suit even though it improves physical prowess. You also will need to eat and drink, which isn't so easy to do through a helmet, trust me I've tried. Not to mention it get's hot in those things. (That is one draw back of them btw. They overheat after a while since they have to produce their own energy.)

4. Play to your character strengths. If you are a marine don't go trying to repair advanced devices without some help from the engineer. If you are the scout please don't try and do surgery that's the medic's job.

5. I want at least one post a week. Tell me on the OOC if you will be gone for whatever reason.

6. I'm the GM, and I expect you realize that as GM my word is final. I'm here to help you though. If you have questions ask me. I will remove you if you are inactive for far too long though, and re-open the spot.

Just to show this isn't dead before it started. sorry I didn't put my character up with the first post. sorry it still isnt done either. its just life getting in the way.

Name:
Izic Jacker

Age: 18

Gender: M

Appearance: Izic's age doesn't show in his looks. He could easily pass for some a good ten years older then him. He's around six foot tall, and has a very average weight. A mop of shaggy dark brown hair cover the top of his head. His amber eyes make him look like he is always thinking. It's the stubble on his chin and the wrinkles by his eyes and jaw that make Izic seem old. He's just gotten them over the years, but no one really knows why. Izic doesn't care as his physical appearance isn't the most important thing to him. With oil in his blood Izic has always found it on his hands as well. His skin is also a bit tanned from using torches often in his work, this also got him tan lines around where his goggles are.

Oh and uhm… his left arm got cut off. He has gotten a mechanical replacement for it, but its not subtle. The arm is completely metal, so it stands out. Izic considered getting gloves or something, but he decided he didn't care.

Izic's wardrobe would consist of cargo pants, and solid dark colored shirts. He typically would wear a black pair of cargo pants and a dark green shirt when going piloting. He's got a pair of rather generic black sneakers. Those welding goggles he has are always with him just because he likes having them. He also has a black military style vest.

Background: Izic has a long history with the station. His dad was one of the mechanics for the station, and thusly he and Izic lived up there after it was built. Izic's mother didn't support his father's ambitions to join the space program, and their marriage just didn't last. So Izic was raised by just his father. His years on earth we nothing special really.

As the station was under construction Izic and his father went up to join the crews. Well technically Izic was just there since there weren't many other options. Izic was only twelve or so when they did, and it was terrifying. Yes shuttles were much less intense and were safe for an everyday person to ride on. Izic was only a kid, and what could anyone really expect? Once they were on the station Izic was fine, but Izic refused to get on the shuttle again for a good couple more years.

With the station mostly completed and the interior work, things like computers, doors, etc. being the main focus Izic got to grow up seeing his father work. He took great interest into it even, but the one thing that caught his attention more was the exo suits used for the major construction. They were amazing to him. A marvel of technology. When he came of age Izic applied for the crew, but they didn't let him join the first team. They made him train for the time the first crew was gone.

In that time Izic had his accident. He'd been doing a run in an astral EXO, a space one, and there was an issue with the airlock. He came in the first door and it shut, but the second wouldn't open. The oxygen wouldn't activate to refill the room. Izic attempted to fix it from inside the airlock, but as he repaired it the system went back online and the machinery activated. This included a safety device which would seal off the oxygen system incase of fire. Izic's arm was still in the machinery as the heavy doors slammed shut. Even with the suit on the doors were made to resist the vacuum of space and easily crushed Izic's arm. By the time he was able to get out of there its was pointless to keep the dead limb, so they removed it, and provided Izic with a prosthetic. Izic refuses to speak about that day not because he lost his arm, but because he made an engineering mistake that bad.

Personality: Izic is a pretty good heated guy. He's on the team for his skills ass an engineer, but also because he's got the skills to get jobs done. Izic will go to great lengths to accomplish goals even if it makes it harder for him. He's a bit obsessive about getting tasks done very well, so he occasionally gets work piled up.

He really hates people messing with delicate machinery since he'll be the on who has to fix it. He also dislikes the lack of order in the EXOs. There is no leader, and the mission was very open ended. He wants to organize the team and the scientists to get the job done right.

Izic's method of keeping sane is rather simple. He just keeps doing his job. It both stresses him and relieves his stress so that he is balanced. He's lucky in that sense. So long as he can do something productive he's alright. Waiting and wasting time make him lose it.

"The difference between me and machine? I'll take pleasure in my victory." Izic

"Oh this? Just a giant sword for my Exo suit." Izic

The real problem is not whether machines think but whether men do.
B. F. Skinner

EXO suit: (name, appearance (pic is ok), weapons, and other notable features. These suits are generally only a little larger than the pilot. Think War Monger from Iron Man, but each one is made specifically for its pilot, so EX. I'm playing the engineer so mine is built so I can still be dexterous while working with machines. A marine's might be a much bigger one made for combat.)

Canustrike. A custom EXO that Izic built. He refused to let anyone else do the job. It's visually simple EXO. It has the basics of an exo-suit in that it cover Izic completely in a good four inches of suit. It is designed to have excellent movement capabilities, so the armor is still very light. It has a black, dark grey, and dark green paint job like old military camo, but he just used the colors overall not camo. The suit is about eight foot tall since Izic prefers the additional size when he's doing big jobs. The head/helmet is modeled after a wolf's head, and the optical ports seem to have a very menacing glare to them. The feet and hands are both clawed. Two hooked longs swords come out of the top of the forearms. Izic put theses in to highlight the agility of the suit, and make it a great melee unit. Even as an engineer Izic wanted a very strong combat EXO. If anything he wanted it so he could survive to help the others. He also put in two heavy fire shotguns which attach to his back. These spray after impact and cause more damage to the inside of the target.

But there is a flip side to this EXO. Izic knew he'd have to still work in it so the claws on the hand retract, or can be used as misc. tools while working. The dexterity and percision of the EXO also lets Izic work as well in it as out of it.

Work skill: Engineer

Personal weapons: Black ace Shotgun: the ammunition is specially made to be able to pierce as well as a pointed slug. Dual laser pistols: not modified, but they still work great as a spot welder on the lowest setting.

Survival gear: tool kit (basic tools and junk), radio equipment (acts a as radio hub for the EXO communications), canteen, glow rods (glowsticks for space guys), minor repair kit (most basic items for repair like new bolts and springs).

RP example
:

"Come on… just hook up damn it." Izic groaned.

He'd been doing final repairs and upgrades to his exosuit. His hands were covered in grease from the hydraulics system in the suit's joints. They had been a bit stiff during test runs. Now the piston that controlled the hydraulics in the right knee was not moving back into place. Izic had been trying to force it for over ten minutes. Izic got fed up and fully removed the knee. He deconstructed it fully then reassembled it.

:Honestly. Who'd think a suit of armor could get a bum knee." Izic grumbled.

With repairs done Izic wiped the grease off his hands with a rag, and took a good look at them. He sighed flexing his digital digits. He still could feel through it, control it with his mind, and it acted like a real limb, but that wasn't his problem. He screwed up with a machine, and not he was partially one. It was a reminder that one mistake as an engineer will cripple the mission.

Izix forced himself to refocus. He left the repair bay and headed to a job over in observation. He carried his tool kit in his right hand and a cup of coffee in the other. If they didn't have it up here Izic was sure he'd have quit within a week of getting a job. When Izic arrived at the observation deck he saw his dad fiddling with the telescope.

"Isn't it your day off?" Izic asked.

"Isn't it yours?" His father replied, "Supposed to be preparing for the mission."

"I'm done for now. Besides I gotta keep busy." Izic said with a shrug, "Keeps me on task. Helps me Focus."

"Ya wouldn't need to if you'd quit drinking coffee all the time." Izic's father joked pointing at the cup in his son's hand.

"Machines need oil. I need coffee." Izic joked back.

He joined his dad at the control panel. The two of them threw ideas back and forth on what was broken until they found what needed repair. The screen came up with an image of the landing site.

"Heh. Spoilers." Izic chuckled.

"You'll do good down there. Just don't forget to get out of that suit now and then. They picked you not the machine." Izic's father told his son before giving him a over the shoulder hug.

Well, here's an interesting concept. Not much interest yet, but you've got my attention. I'll upload what I have, and finish when I can.

Name: Jeffrey Burton

Age: 35

Gender: Male

Appearance: At 5' 5", Burton is of average height, and is actually quite slim and a little musclular for a middle-aged man. He believes in keeping himself well-groomed, but is often too busy to worry over his appearance, so he takes shortcuts. His dark hair is kept meticulously short, and is starting to recede, which he hopes means he will go bald soon and he won't need to worry about hair anymore. He keeps his face clean-shaven. His eyes are icy blue, and somewhat squinty, giving him a constant appearence of a cold stare. A small scar sits above his right eye, a remnant of a past injury. He spends most of his time indoors or in a suit, so his skin is pale.

His wardrobe is simple, but elegant. He wears gray slacks and a black belt, with black loafers. He wears a longsleeved white shirt and a beige vest, with a red bowtie for some color. On occasion, he wears a long white jacket, a relic of his older days, which he sees as a symbol of his status. He wears a pair of square, black-framed glasses.

Background: Jeffrey was born in the small town of Arkham, Massachusetts. The son of Gabriel Burton, a wealthy businessman who invested heavily in space travel, young Jeffrey's future was shaped to his father's liking. Throughout his youth, he was provided with the best teachers and education his father could affored, but Gabriel neglected to provide his son with soical activity or opprotunities to make friends. As such, Jeffrey was an intelligent, but socially awkward child.

Since he was young, Jeffrey's family had hopes for him to have a future in medicine. Realizing that a doctor needed to be able to communicate with people as well as treat their wounds, Jeffery was sent to a local school to learn social skills. He quickly learned how the "real world" worked, and how to deal with the people in it. After graduating, Jeffery was sent to the best college in Massachusetts. He graduated in the top 3% of his class, and promptly moved onto a medical internship, which he completed in a mere eight months (as opposed to a year, as was standard), and became licensed to practice medicine. From there, he became a resident trauma surgeon at Boston Memorial Hospital.

After five years of working at the hospital, a patient (a major donator to the hospital) died on his operating table, the blame was shifted to Burton and he was summarily fired. He opted to open his own clinic, but with his reputation soiled by the recent death, he found it difficult to operate in the area. He instead joined the military as a field medic, where if patients died he at least had a plausible excuse. He served for four years, when he was injured while recovering a wounded soldier. A stray bullet grazed his forehead above his right eye, luckily bouncing off his skull and leaving him alive.

After his injury, he was honorably discharged from the armed forces with a clean bill of health. Still looking for a job, his father presented him with an opprotunity. Space Station Tyo, a project his father was heavily invested in, was looking for medical professionals. With his skills and long record of medical service, in addition to his relationship to a major funder of the operation, he easily secured a job on the station. With another surgeon posted on the station, he would take part in an EXO establishment team pertaining to a ground based lab.

Personality: Burton has a dry wit, often giving his wounded comrades a hard time for taking hits he somehow avoids. He is confident in himself and his skills, and only grudgingly offers respect to those who have earned it. He is generally a quiet one, not one to cause trouble, but he refuses to back down should someone come to him looking for it. This quiet nature extends to his social skills as well. While he doesn't actively avoid people, he is just fine on his own, but doesn't mind others being around him.

In a stressful situation, Burton goes into a sort of "tranquil panic". He becomes extremely focused on the task at hand, pressing himself to do his best, and then make his best better. He will often bark orders at others, or snap at them if they get in his way or try to calm him down.

Trapped on their own, with supplies becoming less and less, he finds new ways to make do, showing his clever and creative side. He wishes that the others wouldn't risk injury (or worse) on their missions, but knows they have to do what they can.

Though he seems like a bitter old man, and he may be sarcastic to others, deep down he admires them and what they bring to the situation. He knows everyone has a skill or personality that can improve a situation, even if it takes a while for them to appear helpful.

And while he can be hard on others, he can be harder on himself. He expects himself to always be the smart guy of any group, the one others look to for answers. When he doesn't know what to do, he gets angry with himself, and he can berate himself for not thinking of an answer sooner. He has limited skills with people, and knows he isn't well liked, but consoles himself with the knowledge that he's needed.

"In a contest between resources and ingenuity, never underestimate ingenuity." - Jeffrey Burton

EXO suit: Burton's EXO suit is a standard Medic-Rig type chassis, bulkier than the normal EXO suit. Burton's suit is covered in extra armor, designed to withstand blows at the expense of mobility, without slowing him down as much as the heavier Marine suits. The suit lacks any ornamentation aside from the plates on the shoulder pads depicting a medical symbol, representing a heart monitor. The suit comes equiped with a pair of blades, located above each wrist, each equivalent to a short sword. The helmet is a close-fitting helmet, with light blue optics and a red "crest" over each eye. The crest over the right eye is cracked and broken, symbolic of Burton's own injured head.

In summary, the suit is a standard Medic-Rig, designed to protect the wearer and allow him to reach the injured and retrieve them for care.

Work skill: Medic

Personal weapons: Two revolvers (he thinks semiautomatic pistols are too unreliable, since they tend to jam), a combat knife, and a "laser scalpel" (a knife made of a shaped laser beam, fed by a regenerating battery pack).

Survival gear: Medical kit (containing various ointments, slaves, bandages, splints, suture kits, sugery knives, etc.), tindertwigs (water-proof stike-anywhere matches), 50 ft. hemp rope, whetstone, rations (water and food).

RP example:

It was after noon when Jeffrey arrived at the clinic, stopping by the reception desk to look at a stack of patient reports.

"Good afternoon, Dr. Burton. I didn't expect you in today." The nurse at the station offers him a warm smile.

Jeffrey glances up, then goes back to reading the reports. "Yes, well, I spent all morning doing final tests on my suit. Not sure why, I'm a doctor, not a mechanic. I wouldn't know what needed fixing or tweaking on the thing." He sets the reports down, noticing everything is in order. "And Gavin has the night off, so I'm covering his shift. I guess I'm just nice like that."

He heads off into his office, leaving the nurse to roll her eyes behind his back. He may have said it sarcastically, but it was more true than he knew.

He sits down at his desk, accidentally hitting a button. The cheery voice of his robotic assistant rings out. "Good afternoon, Dr. Burton. Would you like to see today's schedule?"

"Agh..." He growls in frustration, pushing away from the desk. "No, I've already seen it. I carry my schedule around with me, like a normal person." That annoying device came pre-installed, and he would be glad to get rid of it when he went planet-side.

"Very good, Doctor. I'm sending you a copy to your mobile device now."

"No! I said... I hate talking to machines..." His mobile buzzes as it recieves his schedule. The one he had made himself, so it had no reason to be sent to him again. "You're supposed to be a smart device. You're just a very efficient idiot. You just make mistakes faster than I can fix them."

"I'm sorry, sir. I don't understand the command."

"Then power down!" the device shuts down, leaving Jeffrey alone in his office. "At least the EXO suits don't have this ridiculous contraption. I get to deal with regular humans instead. It'll be a nice change." He turns on his computer, pulling up details on the mission again. "A nice, simple mission. Setting up a lab on an alien planet. What could possibly go wrong?"

This sounds really intriguing. I do have a soft spot for Sci-fi in general. I'll see if I can come up with a character I'm happy with. I have a general idea, just need to flesh out a good history.

Hey there! Sounds interested! I'll work on my SU, but here's the base.

Name: First (middle optional) Last: Vinny Stark

Nickname: (optional): Stark, Vin, or Buster because he uses the spiked knuckles skillfully.

Age: (17-42): 29

Gender: (M or F): M

Appearance: Paragraphs and pic (the picture is option the writing is not). I want to know their physical appearance and their typical clothes. It isn't required for you to wear any combat armor or anything like that though you obviously can.) Venny has tanned skin from his long career. Being under the sun all day has made his skin impervious to wrinkles, and it feels much like leather. He has a serious face at all times. He has dark brown hair that he keeps in a crew cut, for he hates it when it gets in his face. His eyes are chocolate brown and always seem to be squinting. He is approxamitley 6'4, 150 pounds and 4 ounces. He checks it every day. He always wears olive green fatigues when he's not in his EXO.

Background: more then one paragraph. You're history before the EXOs, on earth, and on the station(if you were on the station before being and EXO), and you're experience as one.

Personality: More then a paragraph as well. I want to know who this person is almost as well as they do. Also how they cope with stress, their ideals, and a quote by them or another person (real or from the IC world) Venny is very serious...all the time. He never goofs off, and is always vigilant. Spector always thinks things through before he does them. That's his systematic thinking right there. He gets angry when younger recruits show disrespect to older soldiers. Being one of the older members of the corps, he is pretty high in rank.

Name: Cyclops

Work skill: Marine

Personal weapons: (one large and two small. Ex. Sniper rifle and two pistols. OR four small Ex. Two knives two pistols.) An assault rifle, a pistol, a knife, and brass knuckles with spikes that are a foot long. He equipped his assault rifle with a scope and a grenade launcher that fits under the barrel of his gun. His pistol has a laser sight on it.

Survival gear: (try to work off of what others brought so that everyone is equipped. Five items. Ex. Tent, flares, canteen, hatchet, tool kit) Basic First Aid Kit(Contains bandages and medical tape for when he's out on extensive trips) Standardized food kit(Contains rations, a small pressure cooker, and eating utensils) Hunting Knife(Knife for skinning animals that were caught)

RP example: ([I'd like to thank Charizard_Man for the idea] I'm looking for a rather large example based on this RP. I do NOT want previous work. I want an original one based on this RP. You need to Rp the scenario of your preparation for the mission which begins tomorrow. You've been on this station almost a year now as one of the EXOs and you are finally getting your first mission down on planet 4578. I want to see that personality and background come up in this.)

RP theme song: this is fully optional, but if you had to put a theme song to the RP what would it be: Fury of the Storm by Dragonforce

Urg ate my post!

Well I was saying. there is a plot planned. It'll be revealed as we go.

Also after we complete or fail any major task I'll post an event which describes the setting at that point. It could be anything from the weather to a beast attacking the survivors.

first post plans

I'm going to be writing the start up in a very vague manner as so that anyone can have anything happen to them to start. If you'd like me to include anything specific for your character I'll do so.

Besides that it will just be a standerd opening post, a picture, and the first event.

Just finished my SU. Hope everything is acceptable. I really liked the potential for this character once she got planet-side. A lot of little emotional nuances that could be toyed with. I hope my description of the EXO is ok. I figured since her field of study is a little different and kind of would require flying under the radar at times, that it would be a neat concept of the Adaptive Camouflage. If anything at all needs to be changed, just go ahead and let me know.

I also decided to throw in some easter eggs into the actual RP example section. Some may be obvious, some not so. There are also some in the SU sheet, in particular, names. I figured since Earth still existed, there would be some carryover. If any of the references are out of place, let me know. :D

Name: Olivia Jane Niwri

Nickname: Otter (Her husband's pet name for her)

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Appearance: Olivia looks slightly younger than her legal age. A downside of her moderately youthful round face that gives her an air of "visual" innocence. Growing up she always wished she was taller, her height peaked when she was sixteen years old at roughly around five feet four inches. Although her height in retrospect was well within the average. Her height comes primarily from her legs, her torso being only slightly shorter in proportion. Due to her line of work in the field, her body is neither slim nor thick, but a healthy athletic build.

Her tanned skin tone is contrasted by her 'board' straight, black, shoulder length hair and light blue eyes. Her close set eyes and straight-set nose sit above her even sized lips. On the left side of her throat, one could see an old vertical scar from her formative years as a Zoologist. The wound was obtained by a close encounter with a predator as he held her in his jaws. Due to her job, she wears no makeup or fragrances.

Her "field" clothes consist of many things that meet the necessities of her work. One pair of her standard black fitted jeans. The usual standard pockets, complemented by two side and two by the ankles. One sky blue turtleneck with removable sleeves, two pockets in the front for her hands and hoodie for the rain on the back. Beneath this, she wears standard light grey hiking boots with thick soles.

Background: Olivia is what one might call a privileged child. She never found herself wanting for anything. Her father (Stephen) and mother (Jane), both found each other at a young age. They were married young, and had Olivia within two years of their marriage. Although her family life was happy and everyone in it close. The closeness was emotional and not proximity. Her parent's jobs called them away from home frequently. Her father was a pilot and her mother a nurse at the local hospital in Olivia's home city of London.

Her closest friend growing up, was her dog Chloe. A loyal German Shephard who served as both a watchdog and confidant. Anything she told Chloe only stayed between her and Chloe. She did have friends in school, but they never became more than that, "School friends". They never hung out outside of school, her time spent more on her homework and drawing. A passion for drawing was second only to her love of animals. Many a spring evenings were spent on the back balcony sketching the squirrels and other assorted birds and wildlife.

During her teenage years, she entered the dating world. To say things were uneventful and almost woeful would be an understatement. Never being the "cool" kid or even the moderately "normal" kid, she had few dates. Each one of which was more awkward than the last. It wasn't until college that she eventually met the man she would marry. When she was twenty years old, her path crossed with a deceptively handsome young pre-med student. Gavin Eli Niwri.

The two dated for almost three years, a few arguments resulting in some drama here or there, but nothing that could ruin the relationship. Gavin wanted children, but Olivia didn't care too much for the idea. She eventually won and on the night of her graduation, in a bit of a role reversal, she proposed to him, her parents together in attendance for the few times they could manage. Gavin accepted and a year later they were married.

Their married years passed uneventfully, both of them becoming well respected in their fields and their bond becoming even tighter. It wasn't long before a job openings for both of them became a dream come true. The Space Station Tyo came calling. Openings for both Surgeons and Zoologists became available. With glowing professional and personal references, they both secured the jobs. He would be posted on the station and she would take part in an EXO establishment team pertaining to a ground based lab.

Personality: What is strength? Is it physical? Or simply a state of being? In Olivia's mind strength is what personifies a person's character. Due to such a viewpoint, Olivia considers herself to be a fairly independent person. One who won't back down to bullies, but will gratefully accept advice and instruction when needed. Her temperament is mild, she neither presses for conflict, nor shies away from it. Typically, Olivia will not be the first one to initiate an argument.

Although she considers herself strong, she does suffer from a bit of an introverted personality in regards to friendships and acquaintances. She values her family above all else, often times she is caught saying she "wouldn't know what to do without them", her husband in particular. She fears loss, loss of friends, loss of pets, loss of love. It doesn't matter, she abhors the thought of being robbed of anyone's company.

When dealing with a stressful situation, Olivia presses herself to an extreme breaking point to try and find a solution. Her determination gets stronger, her personality slightly more domineering and her body pushed to the limit. One of the few ways she eliminates stress, is by enjoying a few moments of artistic expression. Her passion for drawing the world around her is almost boundless in scope.

Olivia is often teased as being "liberal" by her husband. She hates any form of prejudice, believes in the equality of all mankind, and refuses to take a life without appropriate need. (Animal included) She is (of course) an eco-nut. In her opinion, technology should always work in harmony with nature, not replace it.

Underneath a lot of her visible strength, a tender heart beats for those that have permission to see it. Anyone who does get past her initial defenses, (although she will be cordial to anyone) will see the sincerity and kindness of her actions.

On the downside, she has a self depreciating opinion of herself. Her work is never good enough, her standards never met. She neither thinks of herself as pretty or smart. Although she is not a coward, she would never be the first to willingly volunteer to inspect a dark cavern or pretend to be the "fearless warrior". At times her resigned attitude has her come across as pompous, or her speech seem like she is pontificating. When excited, her attitude is highly impulsive and almost dangerously enthusiastic.

Her sense of humor runs more toward the dark and sarcastic side. She cares neither for puns nor jokes that require a punchline. People who treat serious matters with frivolous lack of concern aggravate and repel her.

Just some minor notes: Olivia's accent is British. She grinds her teeth in her sleep, especially when under stress. Bites her nails when bored. Does not like to shake hands.

"Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding." ~ Albert Einstein

EXO Suit: An unusual Exo, in regards to the fact that it is built more for surveillance of wildlife and not primarily for other functions. The armor is approximately one and a half inches thick, with articulating interlocking plating to give a wider range of motion. The standard "base" color is bright white. This color being perfect for snowy conditions and not so good for any other biomes, her suit is equipped with a form of adaptive camouflage. This adaptive camouflage can adjust itself to her surroundings based upon the receptors built into the helmet. The downside being, that the ACAMO (Adaptive Camouflage) is prone to expediting the overheating process of her EXO while in use.

The helmet is adjusted specifically for her needs. The eye slots glow in a faint orange unless covered with shaders or enhanced optics are disabled. These slots give her enhanced binocular perception, night vision and a HUD to better document and label her surroundings through her dictation. On her back rests her medium sized, rectangular storage container.

In general the suit is small, not much larger than Olivia herself. The total height is roughly six and a half feet. It fits her almost like a second skin, the helmet perfectly molded for her head and humanoid in resemblance.

Work Skill: Zoologist

Personal Weapons: Long range laser stun rifle, two handheld electroshock neuromuscular incapacitation pistols. (Olivia does not believe in weapons that take lives. As a result, all her weapons are incapacitating in nature.)

Survival Gear: Small self erecting tent (sleeps 2-3 at most), Collapsable canteen, Personal Locator Beacon, Flare pistol with five flares, pocket multitool (Basically a swiss army knife).

RP Example:

"Good morning Dr. Niwri, the time is six thirty-five A.M. Please solve the following puzzle to stimulate brain activity and conclude the waking process." The robotic voice rang out through the confines of her room. Olivia peeked her head out from under the covers, her body freezing from the early morning room temperature. She had been meaning to turn it up, but Gavin was warm last night and she conceded this once. A simple geometric puzzle projected itself on the far wall across from her bed, a faint incessant buzzing noise serving as her alarm to ensure she didn't slip back into dreamland. She didn't drink coffee, didn't use stimulants, and didn't like cold showers. The only way to make sure she got out of bed in the morning, was to make these little puzzles that were only solvable in a wakened state.

"Slide the rhombus piece four spaces to the left, rotate forty-five degrees and intersect with the parallelogram," she called out into the room with a yawn, hoisting herself up on her elbows and wrapping the comforter around her for added warmth while she waited for her body to warm up from it's pseudo catatonic state.

"Very good Doctor, would you like me to run you through today's docket?" The always cheery and helpful voice answered back.

"Let me have it. Actually, on second thought, go ahead and sync it with my mobile, I'll gloss over it later."

"Done. Is there anything else I can be of assistance with?"

"No, that'll be all. Thank you, Siri." The ever present, semi-omnipotent artificial intelligence acknowledged her with a simple two tone din. Olivia let loose another stray yawn, her body pushing itself to take in as much oxygen as possible for the waking process.

"Did they have to make that thing so damn cheery?" Gavin joked, he was still laying on his side, the pillow over his head covering his ears. "It's almost creepy." He sat up with a disgruntled look, throwing the pillow back down onto the bed as he did so.

"You don't play it right, she might be the only woman in your life soon," she teased him playfully, casting him a wink. "I'll be leaving tomorrow, wouldn't want to piss her off now would we?"

"Say what you will, at least she doesn't blow me off to go spend time with space hyenas or whatever you'll find down there." He wrapped his arms around her, giving her a gentle kiss on the neck.

"Space hyenas, huh? Sounds like fun, a matriarchal society, women telling the men how to run things. Maybe other species should try it on for size." Olivia turned her head to face him, a devious cheshire cat grin spread across her face. At that moment, it struck her at how much she was going to miss him. No matter how much it hurt, she wasn't going to let him see her cry, she wouldn't allow it. "I'm going to miss you, you know that right?"

"Otter...I'm going to miss you too." Gavin snuggled his head against her again, he used her pet name that she told him she loathed but secretly cherished. He knew that just as much as she did. "It'll only be for a little while. Before you know it, we'll be back together. Just, you know, knock first when you get back. Siri and I might be in the middle of something." He stuck his tongue out at her.

Olivia jabbed him in the side with her elbow, a little playful acknowledgment that his joke was received. She leapt out of bed, touched the panel on her dresser drawer and pulled out a freshly pressed pair of pants as it slid silently on its automatic track. "Be that way. Maybe she can keep you company tonight." Another knowing wink marked her own reciprocal act of levity, as she wiggled her way into the jeans. "I shouldn't be too long today. Just some last minute checks on the EXO and make sure my stupidity didn't seep into any of the plans. Would you throw me that top right there? It should still be clean." She pointed at a green sweater strewn about on the floor.

Gavin flopped chest first from his spot on the bed, his arms outstretched to reach for the aforementioned top before he threw it to her. "How many times do I have to tell you? You are the smartest person I know. You should trust me, I'm a doctor too. Like somebody else I know." His voice took on just a tinge of irritation, over the fact of how many times he had to keep reminding her of how brilliant he thought she was.

"A Ph.D in animal biology and behavioral studies is a little different than being a surgeon." She slipped the top over her head, pulling her hair out behind her as she let it drape un-fussed with down the back. "Ok, I gotta run. Dinner tonight, right? No emergency calls, no nothing?"

He climbed out of bed and held her in a warm embrace, his hands wrapped around her waist. "You have my word, nothing shall come between you and me tonight. Unless you get a better proposition of course."

"No promises." Silence lingered between them for a good few minutes, nothing really had to be said. They both knew the hours before they were separated were limited. Olivia gave a slight cough, clearing her throat before she spoke again. "You know, not to get sappy or anything. But...I love you."

"I know," was all he said, teasing her with a quote from that absolutely ancient two dimensional movie he loved so much.

Giving him one last kiss as she shimmied out of his grasp, she made her way to the door, it opened with a satisfying swish. She turned to look at him one last time, gave a slight unconvincing wave and turned down the hallway, the beginnings of suppressed tears forming in her eyes.

ok still reading this I got school in like four minutes.

found it all very interesting as the original job for the zoologist was a hunter, so her not killing animals is rather ironic. I'll try to finish reading this at lunch.

A zoologist as a hunter? I find that an interesting idea. Zoologists are life scientists who study animals, observing them in the laboratory and in their natural habitat. They study the origin and development of species as well as their habits, behaviors and interactions. Zoologists, who also research the development of animal diseases, sometimes known as animal scientists or animal biologists because zoology is the branch of biology that deals with the animal kingdom.

Never really thought hunting was in the job description. :)

no I mean instead of there being a zoologist. it was a hunter. Though I did expect the zoologist to help out with the animals, and well ya know correctly cooking them. after all everyone has to eat, and well the zoologist would be best as knowing how to take an animal apart.

Well that aside. I definantly approve. Aught to be an interesting inverse to Izic's personality. Since he's very machine centered, young, and as you'll soon find out is very cruel when he is angered. Also the fact that they both lost someone very important in the explosion will be a good inverse to the inversing personalities.

I'll sum it up like this. My philosphy course was discussing what we'd be willing to do to survive. I'm curious to find out how far Olivia will go.

Ahh...My misunderstanding. My apologies. Glad the hunter was done away with and replaced with a Zoologist however .:D

Should be some fun interaction. It will be interesting for me to further develop Olivia's personality as it progresses. Coping with loss, surviving, etc...

I hope this catches on, my Science Fiction itch needs to be scratched. Come on people! :P

to be honest we could start with godzil and heretostay if they finished up. the scout and astronaut are by far the least needed classes, and the botanist isn't 100% neccisary.

If possible I would like to pick up the scout. Will work on an SU during the weekend and hopefully have it up by Saturday. Would I be allowed a characters with mechanical prosthetic limbs? Got some ideas bubbling in the cauldron of insanity that is my mind.

well mine is has a robotic arm so... no for the idea of originality. two guys with prosthetics is one too many. Also the scout class btw is mostly supposed to be a very stealthy character who can't handle much physical work. he's pretty much there jsut to tell the others where stuff is.
