The Division of the Light and Dark Worlds

Long ago in the land of Hyrule, legends spoke of a great power left behind by the Golden Goddesses following Hyrule's creation. Stories speaking of the Sacred Realm and the omnipotent "Golden Power" known as the Triforce that resided within it spread across Hyrule over the ages, causing a lust for the Triforce's power to grow and fester in the hearts and minds of Hyrule's people until there was nothing left in many of them but pure greed. The Triforce could not judge between good and evil and thus would merely grant the wishes of its holder. One day, a gateway to the Golden Land of the Triforce was accidentally discovered and opened by a band of thieves skilled in dark magic and their leader, a man named Ganondorf. It was a place like no other, a realm of midday golden skies rather than blue. And there, shining down upon this world from above, was the Triforce in all its glory. A long running battle then ensued between Ganondorf and his followers to the heart of the Sacred Realm in a race to reach the Triforce first. Ganondorf fought his way past and killed all of his followers that had accompanied him into the realm along the way so that he could claim it uncontested.

After the murders of his followers, Ganondorf stood over the Triforce and grasped it with blood-stained hands. A voice whispered to him, stating that if he had a strong desire in his heart to wish for it. In response, Ganondorf's laughter echoed across time and space and reached even Hyrule itself as he made a wish that he become the ruler of the world. Thus, one of Hyrule's greatest threats was born: the King of Evil, Ganon, who now had the strength of the Triforce at his command.

As a result of Ganondorf's wish for the domination of the world, the Triforce caused the Sacred Realm to radically change. It began to wither and die as it was transformed into a twisted copy of Hyrule that represented what Hyrule would look like if Ganondorf ruled it. Dark clouds now permanently blackened the skies. As a side-effect of this transformation, the Triforce's magic was used to cast a curse over the entire realm, one that would cause any without protection from it to transform into a shape that would reflect what is in his or her heart. The Golden Land was now the Dark World, a place of darkness and evil. Ganon was not satisfied merely with ruling the newly-transformed Dark World however, as he sought to return to Hyrule and conquer it as well. In time, evil power began to issue forth from the portal to the Golden Land, beckoning to men from the outside to seek out the Golden Power and have their wishes become reality through its magic.

As greedy men from Hyrule entered the Dark World hungry for the Golden Power, each of them was transformed into a monster reflecting the greed within them. As a result, Ganon's army of monsters grew to a large enough proportion that he was now capable of launching an invasion against Hyrule. Many plagues began to beset Hyrule as well, causing catastrophes for the people that would precede the coming storm. Finally, with his army now ready, Ganon launched the invasion against Hyrule, intending to fulfill his wish to be the ruler of both the Dark World and the Light World. Ganon's army swarmed from the Dark World and flooded into Hyrule, causing mass chaos and attacking Hyrule Castle. Meanwhile, the Seven Sages searched for a courageous individual that could take up a weapon that had been crafted to combat magic as powerful as that of the Triforce's, a sword that could banish evil itself, the Master Sword. However, no hero worthy of the blade could be found.

The Story Thus Far

The King has called forth the seven maidens, descendants of the Sages, to come up with a plan to seal Ganon within his own corrupted realm, the Dark World. They agreed to this plan, but soon realized that they'd need some ancient artifacts in order to create the seal. The King ordered his army, the Knights of Hyrule, to defend the castle, and the Maidens, at all costs. Meanwhile, he needed another group to go out and gather the artifacts required to seal the Dark World. The maidens explained that, while they could not find a hero to wield the Sword of Evil's Bane, they did find a number of individuals with their own special talents and potentials. The King orders the Maidens to summon them to the Kingdom at once, as he plans to form a team out of them to go out into the deadly world outside of the castle to gather the artifacts that could seal Ganon into the corrupted Sacred Realm once and for all.

Seven_Maidens_(Four_Swords_Adventures).png

Your Part in the Imprisoning War

You are one of the "special" individuals that the Maidens speak of. Somehow, you've managed to survive this long in a hazardous world of corruption and destruction. At the Maidens' request, you must pack your things and prepare for a difficult journey in which you might not survive. For the good of Hyrule, along with any of your own reasons, you do as instructed, and once you've packed, you're whisked right into the castle, as a result of the maidens' magic of teleportation. Along with other individuals of varied race and origin, you must work together to gather the artifacts required to restore peace to Hyrule.

Creating a Character

There are five playable races, each with their own traits, perks, and faults. If you feel like another race should be added, you must plead your idea to me in the OOC with valid reason, as well as supply a valid set of perks, weaknesses and traits that would make the race equal to the others (or as close as possible). Races won't be added for insignificant reasons like "I want to" or "It'd be cool". Be aware that the addition of races is unlikely, but if you still wish to attempt to add one to the roster, make your case as compelling as possible.

Note: Each race has its own sign-up sheet. The sheets don't differ from one another that much, but are pre-made specially for the individual races, so please use the proper sheet when making your selection. For individuality, you can add three points to the sections of your choosing. However, with these three points, your character's history must include a reason for these points (for example, someone who jogged/ran frequently might have more speed; Someone who reads often might have more knowledge; someone who practiced swordfighting might have more strength as well as more resistance if they were being hit as well; someone who pickpockets, lockpicks, or practices archery might have a higher dexterity.) that makes sense. Be creative, or, if you choose, leave them out. You may add multiple points in one section, but the history must reflect this, so be careful. Decreasing a point is optional but recommended.

Note: Hylians and Kokiri are now closed off. Other races will be limited to two.

50px-Hylian_Symbol.png
HYLIAN

The most prominent race in all of Hyrule. They are a Humanoid race that are pretty much exactly like Humans, minus the pointy ears. It is said that their ears allow them to hear messages from the Gods, though this is only legend. They say that a rare few can transmit telepathic messages to other Hylians, but this continues as yet another rumor. Hylians work well in teams, are well rounded in terms of capability, and have the potential for magical ability. The Hylians of Castle Town were that main target of Ganon's forces, though within the town they remained safe. Some Hylians lived elsewhere, and have had to survive in their own situations.

30px-Kokiri_symbol.png
KOKIRI

A race of forest spirits in the physical form of children. They each have their own fairy to help guide them and keep them safe. While they appear to be Hylian children, they can actually live for centuries (and have already), despite never aging past 13. They reside in the Kokiri Forest, under the watchful Great Deku Tree, who over the years has grown from a young sprout into a growing tree. However, an evil virus has infected the Great Deku Tree, just as it did the Tree's ancestor. This has weakened his protective seal over the forest, and the Kokiri has recently been living in turmoil. Deku Babas and Deku Scrubs among other dark creatures have been growing and invading the forest slowly. The Kokiri need a way to save their Great Deku Tree, but still wish to heed the Tree's words, that they will die if they leave the forest. Kokiri are vulnerable and not very strong, but their short stature and forest life give them a faster and more dexterous quality.

30px-Gerudo_Symbol.png
GERUDO

A race of desert-residing women with tan skin, red hair, and golden eyes. They are a race of only women, known to generally despise the Hylians' way of life. Despite this, though, the Gerudo usually mate with male Hylians to continue their heritage. Only one male is born every hundred years, and he is considered their king. They are generally good in combat, among other skills, and excel in stealth and thievery. They worship the Goddess of the Sand, their own religious belief. Today, they are a slowly diminishing race, as conflict between the Hylians and the Gerudo have nearly severed contact between the desert and the castle.

30px-Goron_symbol.png
GORON

A humanoid, rock-eating race that dwell in the mountains. Despite their hulking appearance, Gorons are a relatively peaceful species. Gorons are physically imposing, as the height and sheer size of the average Goron are almost double that of a Hylian. They possess enough physical strength to shatter large boulders and carve out tunnels using only their fists, without suffering any significant fatigue afterwards. They are presumably silicon-based due to a strict diet of rocks and, possibly as a result, they develop rocky growths on their backs as they age. Their apparent immunity to drowning would also stem from this, as the silicate minerals and rocks are extremely common and contain oxygen. However, due to their enormous density, they are unable to float or swim. Gorons are shown to be resistant towards fire to the point where shallow pools of lava do not harm them. They can curl up into a fetal position and roll at faster speeds, though when rolling they can hardly turn, meaning it is only really useful in a straight or slow-turning path, due to the difficulty of turning. Gorons are an all-male race who live in a "brotherly" friendly culture. They seem to even include Hylian individuals as their "brothers" as well. They reside on Death Mountain, eating rocks and enjoying themselves. Or rather, they used to. Now, they have turned their mountain into a fortress, defending against the dark army of Ganon. Others are invited and welcomed, even offered safety within the mountain. The Gorons turn materials on Death Mountain into bombs, and in some cases, metal weaponry.

30px-Zora_symbol.png
ZORA

Zoras are aquatic, blue-skinned humanoid creatures that exist in Hyrule. They are incredibly skilled natural swimmers. Most of them wear no clothes, but certain members of their species do wear clothing. They are generally covered in silver scales, which give them a pale blue sheen from a distance, and have dark blue spots on their extremities. Where humans sometimes have long hair, average Zoras have rear-hanging caudal extensions of their heads shaped like the tails of dolphins, perhaps as a cephalic form of dorsal fin. Zoras have two large ulnar fins located distally on their forearms, and some have smaller fins at their ankles. They are sometimes depicted as having webbed feet and hands. They lack ears in the traditional sense, but do have pronounced noses. Zoras are also known to have green eyes. Zora government is monarchical, previously ruled by King Zora XVII, the sole ruler of the Zoras. However, he perished at the hands of Ganon's army, leaving the Zora community without hope. A few brave Zoras have offered their service to Hyrule Castle, joining the army of the Knights of Hyrule. A select few with great ability or potential (most of which did not join the Knights) have been watched carefully by the sages.

Rules for this Roleplay

All rules that apply to PokeCommunity and the Roleplay corner always apply. All rules listed here apply to this Roleplay specifically. Be wary of them, as any problems caused could involve punishment by my own hand, or even worse, a moderator.

  1. The Rating is M for Mature. Be wary of this fact.
  2. Romance is welcome, sexually explicit material is not. Keep it appropriate.
  3. Violence is going to be heavy in this RP. However, don't go into excessive detail to the point that a moderator must step in.
  4. Any rules broken may result in booting from the RP, and if bad enough can involve a moderator.
  5. Surivival is the theme for this RP. Be sure that your character isn't unreasonably able to survive. Characters must eat and/or drink to stay alive. Potions and Fairies aren't all that common, so don't consider battles something fun and enjoyable; consider them another chance for your character to die.
  6. Death can and will happen throughout the RP, dependent on characters' actions in certain scenarios. If your character dies, you may create a new one to take his/her place. If you do or do not wish to make another character, please say so in the OOC, as your reserved spot will be dropped within a week if you do not specify.
  7. Remember to take your fellow players into consideration. Bunnying is only allowed if permission from the character's player is given.
  8. The code to prove you read can be either Farore, Nayru, or Din. Pick your favorite!
  9. This RP has a linear story, but plays like a sandbox. This means you can have your character follow the plot, or do their own thing. Be aware, though, that straying from the path of destiny will lead you to many deadly results.
  10. Please have fun. When it all comes down to it, serious or no, this is a roleplay. It was created for fun, and it is played for fun.
  11. Try to treat your fellow players with respect. We can all be friends here! If you're here, you probably like Zelda one way or another, so you already have something in common!

The Legend of Zelda: The Imprisoning War SU

Name: Eliza Guru
Nickname: Toph
Age: 16
Sex: Female
Race: Hylian

Strength: 5 (+0)
Resistance: 4 (+0)
Dexterity: 6 (+1)
Speed: 4 (+1)
Knowledge: 6 (+1)

Personal Skill(s): Slightly agile, able to sometimes avoid physical conflict due to hr gymnastics classes.
Personal Fault(s): Cannot handle a sword and leaves killing a person a last resort.

Skill: Can brew up remedies for simple illnesses and treat wounds of other people if she has the correct aparatus. She has a hidden healing ability
Fighting Style: Prefers not to do any physical attacks or get involved with the fighting at all, but she can often outwit a target.

Appearance: Toph is short with blonde hair, and bright green eyes, and an innocent smile. Her hair goes down to her neck, and she wears a pink hairband so it doesn't go in her eyes. She wears the traditional green kimono with black outlining to show that she isn't too weak. Her shoes are flat black shoes that fit with ease.
Spoiler:

Personality: Toph is a very shy character, and will only present her true emotions to those she trusts completely. If she does however get along with someone she can be quite open with them.

Toph is a gentle character, who tries best to get along with everyone, even those who have done bad things. She doesn't take sides in petty arguments, but has strong opinions over large scale ones. She isn't frightened to tell people the truth when she feels upset or hurt, otherwise she would keep her thoughts to herself, as her way of thinking is 'if she is happy, let everyone else be happy, if not let them feel the same if anything to say.' Sometimes she views herself selfish for thinking like this, and often that comes back to bite as she will regret saying something or doing something, and get over emotional about such things. She cannot stand blood and pain, which is why she is a very good healer, and if she does see someone in pain, she will help them, no matter how much bad they have done (unless that person is Ganadorf or a monster, or just monsters since Ganandorf is a monster.)

Toph likes seafood and nuts, and loves her kimono. She never really wears anything different, so she often considers herself bland. Her love for seafood has accidentally slipped into her remedies now and then, as she often forgets how not everyone likes the stuff. She doesn't hate any personality, even if someones selfish, arrogant and stuck up.

Eliza doesn't like anything too sticky, which sometimes troubles her when making medicine with honey in it. She hates bees and wasps too, and walking barefoot.

History: Eliza grew up in Castle Town, and her mother owned a herbal shop that made potions and such for travelers that passed and the sick in the town, and she was well known for it. The family made a fair amount of money, that luxuries were affordable, as well as food and water on the table. Toph never felt spoiled, or badly done to either, which is where her care-free attitude comes from. From a young age, Eliza had enrolled in gymnastics, although she hated going as it meant being around other people. She never learned to get along with others from this experience, but did great and learned a lot, but there was always someone better than her. Soon she was onto higher level stuff, and was avoiding attacks that might have been thrown at her, but didn't get the hang of this very well. One day however, an event happened that caused her to become somewhat of a recluse, as she was elected to represent her gym class that year. She was majorly disapointed when se discovered she had come last, and had brought shame to everyone there. The people scoffed at her clumsiness as they passed her. She tucked herself inside the shop for a while.

She soon began to help her mother at the Apothecary at just 9 years old, and by 12, she had memorized all the herbs and medicine recipes, and had already learned a bit about surgery from her grandfather, who was previously a war veteran who specialized in treating the sick. Her abilities in herbal remedies drastically increased over time, that soon she was a very well known healer for illnesses. Her mother passed away when Toph was 15, by that time she had learned everything her mother knew, and her grandmother took over the shop. She was devastated over her mother's death, but remained strong, and although the memory always resided, she prevailed from showing much emotion towards to subject. Toph finished school with good grades, and to celebrate her achievements her Grandmother presented her with a long strip of bandages, which she soon learned they had belonged to her Grandmother all her life. It was a scruffy old thing, but it had so much sentimental value to the family. She had pretty much learned the basics when a letter of invitation came to her door from the postman to the royal palace. She wasn't over excited, and was more nervous, and shy but with some major encouragement her Grandparents edged her on to go until the day she arrived at the palace and was presented with an extraordinary task.

One big issue I've noticed right off the bat, Crimson: Magic.

Yes, Hylains have magic potential, but they can't normally perform magic on their own (The maidens are an exception because they are descendants of the sages). Any magic to be used in this RP by players will be through the use of an item.

Additionally, you are lacking a bit in amount of writing, mainly for the appearance section.

Lastly, I wouldn't recommend adding all three points to one section. That would be an incredibly difficult amount of added skill that seems very unlikely.

Then can I say she possesses a magical bandage of sorts that allows her to heal, and remove her capability to cast spells? The bandage could be used almost like a whip or a lasso or just an ordinary bandage. I edited my SU with the details, sorry about that though I got caught up with my magical daydreams hehe.

'fraid not. Though she can keep regular bandages on her, any items that are going to be of any use in this RP are almost without a doubt going to be found/provided IC.

Remember, this is an RP about survival. Hopelessness might actually be part of the theming here, as the general feel of the RP is one of fighting unwinnable odds.

In short, and this goes for everyone, The weaker your character is or the more difficult of a time they're going to have, the more likely they will be accepted. They are here because they don't show great power or skill, but because they show the potential to one day gain that power or skill.

Right, so if I just let her have extra ordinary magical abilities which can't be harnessed, I can make her find something that will unleash that power later in the story, am I right?

Close. When I say she has potential to use magic, I mean that it currently lies dormant in her. Not even she knows of it. The maidens are the only ones who can see this potential.

At the beginning, characters may have to hold onto their personality quirks to be unique, since these kinds of skills and abilities aren't readily available yet.

I understand, but she can still be a good healer, considering she can't fight, I guess being an excellent healer makes up for it.

Edited my SU with no mention of magic just simple brewing and herbal remedies and such.

Right, now you've got it! You could go as far as saying she was/is a nurse of sorts, meaning she can tend to simple injuries and heal people in the same means that we do in our world (without technology).

Just know that she can't make potions with her herbalism, as those will be pretty rare in the RP.

If they did, it would certainly be the least of their worries.

Giving your sign-up a full look-through, I think there are a few more things before I can accept it (You're getting there, though!).

First, your sections are still relatively short. The appearance doesn't give me a whole lot to imagine, the personality could probably be explained more, and the History is fine, but doesn't really prove anything for the stat points added. The knowledge of herbalism and medicine should probably only count as one, maaaaybe two points at most. And again, it's never a good idea to dump all of them into one section. You might even be better off without using them all!

Also, how is she swift and agile? How does she confuse enemies? Where did she learn to do these things? It doesn't seem to show up anywhere in the sheet.

Deal with these, and you'll be good to go.

I'll be keeping an eye on this. I'll start scraping up ideas for a character sheet, likely for a gerudo character. I think there's a lot of potential there.

LoZ roleplay? Sounds fun! I would like to make a race request though. Could you add the Sheikah as a playable race? They would add an interesting stealth/ninja-like dynamic to the thread. Also, you might want to add a straight up human race to play as, because basically only the royal family and a small group of others are hylians. This looks great though!

While the Sheikah would make it more diverse, they're not only a near-extinct race (if not already extinct at this point) they might be a little too overpowered for this RP. Besides, the Gerudo are already pretty close to that Rogue-like standard.

Also, Hylians are very common, so a regular Human race is almost unnecessary. The Hylians are definitely not specific to the Royal family. They're an entire race of people! Besides, Humans in Zelda-canon are literally Hylians without pointy ears and magic ability. They don't differ enough to be their own race for this RP.

Nonetheless, I'll give you a reserve as well.

Thanks for the reserve! So one quick question, if the Hylians are more populace in this RP, how about the Knights of Hyrule? In most of the games Link is the last one but..

Knights of Hyrule are already active in the war, and thus aren't directly a part of the main plot for the rp.
