The Storyline

Spoiler:

Rules

  • Forum rules of apply in this RPG. Please read and follow the TOS (Terms of Service)
  • No bunnying. This should be expected not to do. It includes murder of a character without being given permission.
  • No god-modding. Being a God Modder is a sign of being an ass and makes it to where other player's do not want to RP with you. Do not do this. It kills the fun of roleplaying. Let's keep things realistic.
  • Swearing is allowed in this RP but please let's keep it to a minimum. It gets mundane to see someone swearing in every sentence in their post.
  • Be active. This should go without saying but I would like to accept dedicated members who won't wither away in Day three of this role-play.
  • No legendaries please. This should go without saying.
  • Romance is allowed, of course but let's keep it completely Disney please. XD
  • Post literate replies, please. No one-liners, text talk, slang, none of it. I would like to see quality in each posts because it helps progress with the role-play. It makes the RP more enjoyable and helps with muses for other people.
  • I reserve the right to reject players.
  • Reservations last for three days and then you're out.

Just a few questions.

I'm assuming the "OCC" in the thread title is meant to read OOC. If not, what does it stand for?

Is "Maximum 16lv" meant to mean each Pokémon's level must be 16 or below, or 16 levels spread across three Pokémon or what?

For each Pokémon, six movesets are allowed - is that six individual movesets of four moves (and you can only choose one to use in a battle), or six moves all up?

* * *

Name: Jack Murdoch
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Type: Civilian
Hometown: Sandgem Town

Appearance: Jack stands at around six feet tall, making him of average height for his age. Throughout most of his teenage years he had a young looking face, however since finishing his schooling at the Ultimate Trainers Academy last year his face has matured and his facial hair grows more evenly, enabling him to appear older than he is. He has messy dark brown hair which reaches about halfway down his neck and to his eyes in length, and shaves roughly twice a week, meaning most of the time you'll either see him cleanly shaven or with stubble. He has blue eyes, which at a younger age he was told were pretty and since then have dulled slightly to a less vibrant hue. During the winter he wears black jeans, a button up shirt and a dark grey peacoat. During the summer, he wears shorts and a t-shirt (usually with the name of a music group somewhere on it).

Personality: Jack has a friendly personality if you make the effort to talk to him, however he will rarely start the conversation. Despite his shyness, he knows a large number of people, most of whom he met through playing music or through having mutual friends. He keeps an open mind, though despite his shyness he is interested in the news and in current affairs and develops strong opinions on issues that matter to him. By default he has respect for everybody he meets, and unless somebody does something to ruin this he will continue to focus on the good side of a person rather than the bad. In a sense, this is a fault, as it's perfectly plausible that he may place too much trust in somebody in the future and come out worse off.

Jack, despite knowing many people, does not have many (perhaps any) close friendships. He has certain friends he spends lots of time with, but nobody who he feels understands him. He does not mention this to anybody, nor does anybody suspect him of being a loner, but at times he feels alone. The only true friend he has is his Natu, Aether. Over time, the two have developed a psychic bond (as many trainers do with psychic-type Pokémon) however at this point it has not developed to the point of telepathic speech, only a communication of feelings (for example in a battle Jack may suddenly feel worried, in which case Natu will battle cautiously rather than offensively).

History: Jack was born and raised in Sandgem Town, Sinnoh. The town, being close to Jubilife City, meant that Jack often visited it with his parents. From this, he developed a keen sense of direction. Due to his upbringing by fairly strict but well-meaning parents, he was very innocent until he turned eleven and was sent off to the Ultimate Trainers Academy. This naivety, combined with his babyish face, made him feel alienated from his classmates, who had unintentionally ignored his attempts to make friends. He became a quiet boy who only really spoke when spoken to. He had friends that he would hang out with, but he figured nobody considered him their best friend.

On his first day he chose a Pokémon from the breeding barn (as he had not owned one previously in Sandgem Town) to become his partner. It was a Natu that had been bred to specifics by a kind senior student. Because it was a female Pokémon and the senior wanted a male one, he was more than happy to give it to Jack. Jack was delighted, as the Natu had been born with a ground-type hidden power, which gave him the edge over certain types of Pokémon. He and the senior exchanged phone numbers but fell out of contact shortly thereafter. Over the coming years, Jack would form a strong bond with his partner (named Aether), helped especially by the fact that Aether's psychic ability enabled him to feel telepathically the same emotions his trainer felt felt.

Unlike other trainers, who would catch multiple Pokémon, Jack focused on training just his partner, putting all his time and effort into teaching it unorthodox moves and tactics. He would often catch peers by surprise in battle, winning many times over with a Pokémon that appeared extremely nonthreatening. The lack of physical strength in his Pokémon also forced Jack to develop numerous strategies to win battles, making him somewhat of a tactical mastermind when it comes to commanding Aether. The downside to only having a single Pokémon is that he has little hands-on experience with different Pokémon types and strategies, relying only on what he has learned through textbooks and UTA classes.

Whoops, that's what you get for typing this up late at night xD It's meant to be OOC. Corrected now! Thanks for pointing that one out!

It means a maximum of Level 16 for each Pokemon you have. Hopefully people will be realistic and not have all the Pokemon level 16 but this only concerns Students and Teacher Trainers and Professors can bypass this rule.

For the movesets, I was just thinking you can have upto six moves and it's upto you if you want to fulfill it all but it's really what you think you would want for your Pokemon. I don't want to be too strict on that. (:

(( PLEASE PLEASE reserve a trainer spot for me!!!! I'm currently working on my SU and don't want to miss out - this looks brilliant!! :D

Just a question - in past academy roleplays I've made my character the sister of Gary Oak...would this be a problem in this one?? My character isn't Mary Sueish at all in case you were worrying I'd be some hotshot sister of a gym leader, like I said it's just a past character that I'd kind of like to get all nostalgic with and reprise!! But if not, then that isn't a problem either! =] ))

Name: Dixie Belle
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Type: Trainer Teacher
Hometown: Accumula Town

Appearance: Dixie Belle wears black all of the time. Her skin is covered everywhere, and she died her hair black to go with it. The black hair goes to her neck. Dixie Belle wears really large sunglasses on her extremely pale face, the only part a person would be able to see of her. The woman always carries a black pack on her back which contains things she would need like PokeBalls and her iPod Touch.

Personality: Dixie is a very obedient woman. She always respects any form of authority and will never go out of line in anyway. She is very well behaved. Along with that Dixie Belle is extremely quiet, except for her strange panting and dog barking. A negative trait that Dixie has is her anger at people and physical attacking of them. She gets angry at her peers when they do something bad or disobey, and she lunges at the person. Dixie also has a passion for learning. She loves to learn especially about animals and ecology.

Dixie loves to be outdoors. She loves animals, plants, life, and beautiful scenery of the outdoors. She hates the complexity of modern life and enjoys the simplicity of nature and no technology. The woman is also extremely serious and calm, most of the time. She is interested in biology, animals, plants, Pokemon, and not much else.

History: Dixie grew up in the Kanto region to a wealthy, secluded family who lived near Lavender Town. She was the oldest child of 4 and she lived with her father. Her mother mysteriously disappeared before Dixie was born. Dixie was raised and treated like a pet. She lived in a cage, was walked, was free of any clothing, and did other things a pet would do. Her father was a biologist and he stated that this was an experiment, and his daughter was the test subject.

The police caught on to this eventually. At the age of 14, Dixie was freed from her life as a pet. Her father was arrested and sentenced to a life in jail. Dixie moved to Isshu after being given all of her parents money. She lived in Accumula Town but did not stay there for long. She was a huge adventurer and could not wait to use that body she had been restricted in for 14 years. She had obtained a Pokemon from the police officer who arrested her cruel father. Dixie trained him and caught other Pokemon while exploring biology.

Dixie wanted to share her knowledge of ecology and biology, both of which she studied very in depth through her years as a trainer. So, she applied to the Ultimate Trainers Academy as a Teacher.

What level is the max for teacher trainer Pokemon?

Thank you for reserving! There isn't a maximum but just keep it realistic, okay? We don't want to see level 100 Pokemon because that's just god modding since nobody would be able to beat you. Development will happen during the roleplay. xD

Also, good start on your sign up but could you extend on your personality? The minimum is two paragraphs.

((Here's my SU! Just a question, can students only have one pokemon as their starter or can we have up to 3 too? How does that work?))

Name: Ashley Sharpay Oak
Age: 16
Gender: female
Type: Student
Hometown: Pallet Town, Kanto

Appearance: From the small village of Pallet Town, Ashley has quite tanned skin due to all the time spent on the small beach at the South of the town. She has long auburn-brown hair falling in large, soft curls to mid-waist, with side bangs that stick up slightly at the side of her head. No matter what she does she can't seem to get it to stick down.

Her favourite feature is her eyes, large and dark brown, the eyebrows above them are quite thick and defined, however Ashley plucks them fanatically to keep them under control, and they frame her eyes nicely. She has quite a pointy nose – an unfortunate family trait – and her ears protrude from her head too far for her liking, which is why she keeps her hair down always. You won't see Ashley with her hair up without some kind of eye-catching, bright, sparkly hairband or clip to distract from her ears.

She is naturally slim, a family trait also inherited by her brother Gary, and when it comes to dressing she is stylish but also likes to maintain practicality in her clothes. She generally wears denim skinny jeans, black leggings or a pair of denim or khaki shorts with tank tops and loose cardigans in summer or long, thick hoodies and scarves in winter. The one thing that MUST be practical about her dress, however, is her footwear. Flat sandals and pumps in summer and Uggs or military boots in winter – always active, Ashley MUST be able to run or cycle from place to place whenever the urge hits.

One thing she is never without, but also keeps hidden underneath whatever shirt she is wearing, is the green and yellow yin-yang pendant given to her by her brother when she began her pokemon journey. Ashley wears this pendant everywhere – when she sleeps, when she bathes, when she swims, always. It is her lucky charm, her family heirloom and she would rather lose a leg than her pendant.

Personality: Ashley is very much like her brother – she has the same stubborn, egotistical mannerisms. Once she gets an idea stuck in her mind, she will not be swayed from it no matter how many well-made arguments are put to her to try and convince her otherwise. She will follow through all her plans and ideas to their conclusion, no matter what the consequence is. Chalking it up to experience, Ashley will not wallow in self-pity or be held back by any negative experiences, she simply takes the lesson from it and moves on.

She is not arrogant, however, seeing a difference between sharing her achievements and good news with others and bragging about her accomplishments. She will never try to put herself above others, truly believing that all trainers and pokemon are equal, regardless of how different trainer records read.

Despite her failings, Ashley is a very honest, open person and a fiercely loyal friend. She would fight any fight for someone she loved, and would never betray them once she trusted them. She is very easy to make friends with and finds that she gets on well with strangers from all areas and of all ages, her natural curiosity about people makes it easy for her to begin and maintain conversations with people and to get to know them.
This is reflected in her relationships with pokemon, she dreams of meeting, catching and battling with as many different pokemon as she can physically encounter. She takes inspiration from her older brother and his travels and achievements for this, hoping one day to surpass him and become even more successful. (More detail on the relationship between Ashley and Gary to follow in the History section.)

History: Sleepy Pallet Town may not seem the ideal place for a young girl to grow up, based on the miniscule population and lack of peers of her own age to socialise with. However, Ashley would not have chosen to grow up anywhere else – after all, how many world-renowned trainers began their journeys at Oak's lab?? Oh yeah, that's right...Professor Oak is Ashley's grandfather. And Gary Oak, one of said world-renowned trainers, is Ashley's brother.

Gary is a major part of Ashley's history, and her life in general. 3 years her senior, Ashley was 8 years old when Gary left to begin his pokemon adventure and even now, 8 years on, she could remember that day so vividly it was as though it was only yesterday. The heartbreak she felt outweighed the jealousy as Gary picked his Squirtle from their Grandfather and leapt into his bright red convertible among all the noise and excitement of the platoon of cheerleaders he'd taken along for the ride. She remembers how tears were welling up in her eyes as he drove off only for the car to stop as Gary leapt out, running over to her and hugging her tightly. He promised he'd be back soon, and with that he was gone.

Something broke in Ashley as she watched Gary cruise away, and she vowed that she wouldn't leave home the same way he did. She would carry out an apprenticeship under her grandfather and meet pokemon that way, she would learn all about exotic, rare pokemon under one of the greatest authorities on pokemon in the world.

However, the years passed and although Ashley loved shadowing her grandfather she found that she, like Gary, yearned to get out into the world on her own volition, travel and meet different pokemon. This was made certain when Gary returned from his adventures one day to surprise Ashley at the lab, showing her how strong his Squirtle had become and how it had evolved, showing her the other pokemon he'd caught and met and regaling her with tales of far off lands and the people who lived there. She couldn't help but feel as though she was living in Gary's shadow, that she couldn't quite make her own name in the world, that she would always be known as 'Gary's little sister.'

After Gary left, Ashley just knew she needed to get out into the world. She was 15 and hadn't seen anything near like what her brother had seen. Her Grandfather saw this feeling deepen and deepen inside of Ashley until one day she received an acceptance slip from the Ultimate Trainer Academy, which was based in a whole new region called Sinnoh. Confused by this, she sought the council of her Grandfather, who revealed that he had submitted an application form in her name, detailing all she had done under his tutelage.

Elated, Ashley ran straight home and began packing, surprised when she heard a cough at her bedroom door and saw Gary, taller and more handsome but still the same as he was 7 years ago to her, lounging against her doorframe. He smiled gently at her and walked over, taking her hands in his. He told her how proud he was of her, and how she was destined to become an even better trainer than he was. He removed his yellow and green Yin-Yang pendant from around his neck and draped it over Ashley's head, saying it was her turn now. Ashley hugged him and she just knew, that in her time at the Ultimate Trainer Academy would allow her to finally break free of the shadow of Gary that she had lived under for so many years.

They can have upto three before/after enrolling. It's really how much you want to start off with and if you want to be given a starter by the school.

Have you completed your SU now or would you like me to wait for you to add more Pokemon? c:

Yes, they are but they'll also be given the option of gaining a starter (from any region) upon enrolling.

It means a maximum of Level 16 for each Pokemon you have. Hopefully people will be realistic and not have all the Pokemon level 16 but this only concerns Students and Teacher Trainers and Professors can bypass this rule.

Can civilians bypass the student rule? He's not a student, would say.. level 22 be a realistic level?

(All right, here it is. Sorry for the wait. Any unusual moves are egg moves bred from having the same species of a father and was not specifically bred in. And that part was changed. Len won't notice. He wants a Pidgey.)

Name: Len Editon
Age: 10
Gender: Male
Type: Student
Hometown:Celestic Town, Sinnoh

Appearance: Len looks slightly younger than ten, due to his wide blue eyes reminiscent of a deer. He is roughly four feet tall and slightly underweight. He has the build of a young track and field athlete, rather used to long journeys He has short, jet black hair that without the gel in it flops all over his face. So it's normally spiked a little bit. His blue eyes have shades of grey in them. Len's skin is tan from his long stays outdoors. Along one arm is a jagged mark, a really strange birthmark. It's less obvious that the fading scars all over his body. His top is a blue shirt with a red vertical stripe down the left side and a black lightning bolt down the middle. His pants are black and slight baggy jeans with a black belt tied in the loops. His shoes are grey sneakers with a Pokeball symbol on the sole. Nestled in his spikes in a pair of grey goggles.

Personality: Len is a mysterious, social human being with some eccentricities. He is very mature for someone of his age, possibly from growing up mostly around the elderly. He has a great interest in archaeology but it never manifests more than with tools, songs, and stories. He wears a friendly smile and is rather quiet. Len loves the flute he carries with him and cares for it almost religiously. He is relatively good at interacting with others but he doesn't actively search for friends, mostly because at home he barely had to. He's been raised to care for all people, even if they hate him, so his ability at holding a grudge is next to zero. His easily forgiving and helpful behavior causes him to sometimes appear very gullible. Though whether he is is up for debate. Len can be very perceptive; he just doesn't like showing it.

Len plays his flute whenever and wherever he can and is very good at it. He mostly plays for Pokemon but humans are attracted to it as well. He believes that those who like the sound of music are unable to be truly "bad". Because Pokemon are around him more, tame or wild, he's learned a lot about them and has a natural ability to calm them down. Like them he is very showing of his emotions. Len is a vegetarian but holds no real issues over those who aren't. He's also a bit too imaginative and follows his instincts. Those who strategize won't like him too much. But his instincts have gotten him into trouble.

History: Len was born in Celestic Town, a town with few actual children. Len was acquainted with Cynthia in passing, having snuck into her digs and seen her every now and again as a citizen. He gets along better with her younger sister. Since there weren't many kids, the few there were grew very close. His father was off on a training journey people said but Len didn't quite believe that. His mother was also out of town, working to pay the bills and money was sent through the PC. She returned as often as she could but he would still miss her very often. She is the one who gave him his flute. So instead of being raised by his parents, he grew up under the guidance of his grandmother.

Len's mother gave him his first flute when he was five and his grandmother taught him how to play. There was no school in Celestic so children had to teach themselves and each other the basics. Since Cynthia was hardly there, she could rarely give lectures to them. He would go into the Celestic Ruins to look around with Cynthia's sister. When he was six, his mother came home with a Shinx, who did not like his mother much. Riolu however was found in an accident a year later. He was causing havoc on the nearby routes and Len ended up finding him tangled in a bridge. Confused, he pulled him out and fixed him up, not knowing who the Riolu actually was. He never found out, as the Pokemon decided to stay here.

One day, when he was eight, he went alone and discovered a rare treasure: a strange-looking instrument. He hid it from the others, realizing it could be important. However, treasure hunters came into town not long after. He didn't want to give it to them, especially when Team Galactic remnants were known to be hanging around. So he ran off to hide it in Mt Coronet, not quite sure why he was taking it there. In the middle of the way up, he ran into an Absol, who attacked him violently due to what he carried. Not knowing got lost in the mountain. He almost released his Pokemon but before he could the Absol found him again.

Len was nearly killed by the Absol until he threw the artifact away. Absol took it and hid it and nearly left Len there to die. But for some reason he brought him out to his grandmother and stayed. Absol nearly snuck out after he recovered but Lei and Rico kept him there, saying he had to take responsibility for what he had done. Len scolded them later, trying to let Absol leave. He had forgiven him already, which, almost everybody but his grandmother didn't understand. But that was Len's nature and it wouldn't be changed. Absol felt guilty and remained where he was. Len didn't understand. Even now, he still doesn't and released him not long after, thinking he wasn't happy.

Pokémon:

Species: Riolu
Nickname: Rico
Personality: Rico is energetic and playful, a constantly exercising machine. He runs around everywhere and is bouncy. He loves battles and will run into fights he's not supposed to. He hates to lose and will get up long after others will fall over. Rico is speedy and will frequently chase Len everywhere. The only times he stays still are when Len plays or when he's sleeping, and the second one's debatable.
Level:12
Moveset: Quick Attack, Force Palm, Endure, Counter

Species: Shinx
Nickname: Lei
Personality: Lei is an affectionate girl, and initially not a fighter. But she kind of feels bad for Len and wants to get him out of being used, but sometimes makes a fool of herself. Despite it, she still gets up to fight.
Level: 13
Moveset: Tackle, Charge, Thunder Fang, Bite
