Just some casual planning
Featuring Synner & Hanso

Synner's earlier talk with Joshua, and his subsequent meeting with the Valkarian Exposure, had gotten him thinking. He sat on the roof of a three-story-building, overlooking the crowds as they all began to flock towards the city center for the upcoming ceremony. Thoughts bubbled in his mind; thoughts of the danger that the Exposure presented. They seemed to him like... a Magikarp. Flailing helplessly at first, it is seemingly harmless, but if left unchecked for long enough, it would grow into a monster that could ravage the seas.

Thoughts soon turned to ideas, and those quickly grew into... plans. Synner grinned to himself and got up. He knew what he had to do... but he didn't have much time.

The Malamar quickly set out, opting to levitate from roof to roof. Some of the Pokemon below looked up at him curiously, but he continued nonetheless. His gaze was fixed on the opposite side of the street, where he would no doubt find the place he was looking for.

Finally, he laid eyes upon it. Across the street from the roof on which he stood, a building marked as an SEC Network Station stood tall and proud. Descending from the roof, he floated casually over the crowds as he crossed the Pokemon-flooded streets.

Only two 'mon seemed to be present within the building. Synner suspected the rest of them must have gone to attend the festival. Regardless, that was all he needed.

"Good day," he said to one of the Pokemon in the room. "I realize this is a little untimely, but I'd like to speak to Hanso SharpEye, please."

"Hanso?" One of the two Pokemon, a Mankey, inquired. "I'm not sure where you've been, but Hanso SharpEye has stepped down as CEO of the Sharp-Eye Corporation. His son, Winoc, is handling the job now. If you'd like to make an appointment to speak with him, I'd be happy to look through his schedule and set up a date at the earliest convenience."

Synner chuckled and moved the tentacles on his head about, revealing the one with a Gold Tribe emblem fastened around it.

"I am Vindicator, of the Gold Tribe," he said, his tone authoritarian. "I know Hanso isn't the CEO anymore, but he's still with the SEC, and I'm sure one of you has a Psychic connection to him. If you please, I'd like to speak to him personally. It's..." He lowered the pitch of his voice slightly. "Regarding the Dark One."

The Mankey and the Kadabra who sat next to him both exchanged glances with each other. The Mankey nodded to the Kadabra, who nodded back at him. Suddenly, the Mankey chirped up and smiled brightly at Synner. "Ah, come to deliver the packages for the day, eh Steve? Go ahead and drop them off out back! Reg, will you help him out with them? They seem kinda heavy," The Mankey asked the Kadabra.

"Sure thing. Come on, Steve, follow me," The Kadabra stated, getting off of his chair and proceeding to the back of the building, where the two of them stood alone and out of the public eye. "Alright, open up your mind to me. I'll locate Hanso and then feed him into you," He asked the Malamar. "Me going into your mind for a moment is just a precaution. Hanso's had some...bad experiences with going into others' minds in the past."

Synner nodded sympathetically. "Indeed, I understand."

He proceeded to open his mind just enough for the Kadabra to establish a link. He'd have no problem protecting the more precious parts of his mind if it came to that, so he didn't need to worry. Still, it never hurt to be cautious.

The Kadabra concentrated for a moment, before creating the link in Synner's mind and nodding. "Alright," He then closed his eyes, keeping them shut for a while. Nothing seemed to happen to those who watched from afar. Inside the mind, however, the Kadabra was establishing a link between Hanso and Synner. Eventually, the Kadabra silently opened his eyes, and stepped to the side a bit.

From inside Synner's mind, a voice came. "...This is Hanso."

"Ah, good day Mr. SharpEye. My name is Synner of the Gold Tribe, although... today, I come acting somewhat independently from them," Synner replied in a chipper tone. "You see, I have a proposition for you, and the SEC. I'm sure you've heard of the Valkarian Exposure, yes?"

A bit of silence followed the question, but soon came a reply. "I know them."

"Good. Well, on the outside, they may appear to be a fairly innocent group of 'mon with a certain opinion. Which is perfectly fine. However, I believe that soon, they may begin to present a serious threat to the Gold Tribe itself."

Synner paused for a moment to let that sink in. "You see, they already have supporters all over Valkaria. And one of their main goals is the elimination of the Gold Tribe. True, it seems ridiculous to think they could actually cause us to disband, but times are changing. Pokemon of the newer generations look at things in a different light, and with such a huge lack of proof for the claims made by the Gold Tribe... frankly, the Valkarian Exposure's claims would make perfect sense to this generation's mon. I've already seen them amassing countless more supporters at this festival alone. And some of them are quite prone to violence... why, one of my sisters and I were attacked by a couple of them in the streets earlier."

"But I... I have come to you today with proof, Hanso. Proof that only those few in the Citadel that night possess, yourself included."

Just then, an image would flash for the briefest of moments within Hanso's mind. An image of something dark; something which would seem all too familiar to the Gallade. "That, Hanso, was a memory I just let you see. I myself obtained it and some others like it from a friend who was with you in the Citadel. Compelling proof, isn't it? Now... what if we weren't the only ones who could see this?"

"Well, the Exposure has a lot of support. Even outside of the Alpha Alliance, if you didn't know...what do you have in mind, exactly?"

Synner chuckled lightly. "Haha, it's not my intention to outright destroy their group, Mr. SharpEye. I believe as much as anyone in free speech. However... once I present them with this evidence, whether they like it or not, their decision may change under the circumstances, and the movement is far less likely to present a threat..." He grinned. "Here's the plan..."

"...whatever happens, it will certainly heavily affect their decisions on the matter. All I want is for the Pokemon of Valkaria to make the right decision, and be given the truth. I do hope you and the SEC will assist me in providing them with that much, Mr. SharpEye.

"....I see," Hanso replied. "Well, there's an issue of privacy in this but...I do understand what you're doing. Makes sense. I'll have someone give you what you need."

"On that subject... it won't be that easy," Synner continued. "I may have skill in matters of the mind, but this is hardly something I can do on my own. I'm going to need the co-operation of the SEC's members if I'm going to pull this off. You see, the reason I've chosen this timing in particular to contact you is because the ceremony is about to begin. It's the perfect opportunity to carry out the plan. However, I'll need... at least fourteen members of the SEC at my command, at least five of which should be skilled Psychics. I request that a moderately powerful psychic network be formed between all fifteen of us. Is that acceptable?"

"I'll be there anyways...so will the team of psychics," Hanso stated.

"Good, good," Synner replied. "One last thing. On the subject of Darkrai. It is only a suspicion at this point, but I feel that he may somehow be involved in the creation of the Valkarian Exposure. I have no proof to support this claim, so I won't press on it any further than I have to, however... as a precaution, there is a certain resource that I may require from you. Personally..."

A tense meeting.

Joshua continued his patrolling down the streets, dodging the drunks and more rambunctious party-goers as they careened through the streets. The longer he went on, the more the crowds began to act up, and the more it began to wear on his nerves. This festival couldn't end fast enough...

"Hey! The trash bin is over there!" Joshua called out, seeing an obviously tipsy Vigoroth tossing his empty ale bottle on the ground. Joshua sighed, shuffling over and picking it up, tossing it away. "I swear, manners have all but disappeared here..."

"Oh look, someone else who's refraining from the party scene?" A certain over-sized dragon came traipsing up to Joshua and smiled at him. "Litterbugs sure are annoying right? But at least they aren't fighting I guess."

"Hm?" Joshua looked towards the voice, seeing the green Dragonite walking towards him. He recognized him as Callimer, though he couldn't say he personally knew the dragon. He heard stories, and had seen him once or twice around, but not much more than that. "Yeah, I suppose so. Still, this festival seems to be bringing out the worst in everybody."

"All too true, especially in a party as big and important as this one I'm afraid. I'm all for fun and even some crazy partying occasionally, but in this case I don't quiet feel like the methods match the morals if you will. I still appreciate what we're celebrating, but is this the way to do it?" Cal let out a big sigh and grabbed another piece of trash to throw away. "If it's frustrating for us I can only imagine the kind of nonsense Guardia's already dealt with today, and she's probably got more in her path too."

Joshua nodded in agreement. "I don't think we should be having this 'festival' in the first place... but that's not really my place to decide." He took a look around at all the happiness and cheer, sighing lightly before turning once more towards the Dragonite. "Well, at least it's only for today, I suppose."

Without paying much initial attention to the two conversing in the middle of the street, Abel walked right in between the two Pokemon. As he did, he knocked right into the two of them, which caused him to avert his gaze from his planned destination and turn back to the Swadloon and Dragonite. "Watch where you're standing, citiz-" Abel began, before noticing a gold tribe insignia on the Swadloon. He immediately stopped his statement, and began a new inquiry. "Where did you get that, boy?"

Joshua muttered an apology to the Medicham as he brushed past them, until he turned around with a question. Joshua looked at Abel, confused. "Get what? W-what are you talking about?"

Abel approached right in front of the Swadloon, then leaned over and tapped the gold tribe insignia with fervor. "This, boy. Where did you get it? Because it clearly doesn't belong to you."

Joshua backed away a bit nervously, unable to look the Medicham in the eye. "B-but it does belong to me... I'm a... ah..." he stammered over his words, sweat forming on his brow, before he cleared his throat. "J-Joshua 'Watchman' Vensworth, s-sir!"

"You must be joking," Abel replied, crossing his arms as he looked down at Joshua. He shook his head before he continued. "If this is a joke, I assure you it's made in very poor taste. The crime is very harsh for theft of this magnitude where I come from. Harsh but fair."

Joshua began to panic slightly, feeling incredibly intimidated by Medicham accusing him of theft. "No no no! I swear, t-this isn't a-"

"Hold on, hold on." Cal stepped forward and made himself known, since Abel seemed to be pretending he wasn't even there. "I know of him, this is indeed Watchman; I try to be aware of all of my brothers and sisters. You should settle down a bit, people might think you're one to jump to conclusions."

Abel turned his gaze from the Swadloon to the large Dragonite. Upon examination of this interestingly colored Pokemon, Abel found he too had a Gold Tribe insignia on him. "And you are?"

Cal straightened his back and recited "Callimer 'Sentinel' Vian. You know most pokemon are taught to introduce themselves before asking the names of others. I can only assume from your ignorance of who we are that you are either a recluse or Beatrucian. So who might you be, brother?" At first he spoke sort of sternly while he looked at Abel's badge, but he evened out near the end before he said 'brother' since he didn't know whether this Medicham deserved his respect or not yet.

"Atrox," Abel answered plainly, the only indication of explaining who he was. "So he's Gold Tribe then? Hmph," Abel once more returned his stern gaze to the Swadloon. "Apologies for the confusion. I expected the Gold Tribe to appear more formidable and intense and less....this," He stated as he gestured to Joshua.

Joshua looked down at the ground in embarrassment. "I-I'm sorry..." he muttered.

At that, Abel would find the tap of a very sharp claw on his uncovered shoulder. "Excuse me. I happen to have noticed you're an a*shole." came the voice of the Scyther behind the claw. "Now, let me be clear. I planned to lay low in the city during this festival and I didn't want nothin' to do with causin' trouble" Charlie lied. "But if you keep being an a*shole, we gonna be havin' some trouble, you hear?"

Joshua perked up at the Scyther's interjection. That voice... it couldn't be, could it? He tried to get a closer look, but with Abel in the way, combined with his short stature, he couldn't.

"Excuse me." The Dragonite cleared his throat at the Scyther's interruption. "In case you didn't notice, I had no intention of letting Watchman be picked on. This was a just a little bit of culture clash, our Beatrucian brothers and sisters haven't had quite the same experiences as us. There's no need for threats, and I won't have them made unnecessarily right in front of me." Hie antennae perked up at the Scyther's badge and he looked at it closer. It's real, but then... "Hmmm... I could have sworn I knew almost everyone in the Valkarian Tribe... forgive my ignorance but who, exactly are you?"

Charlie crossed his claws across his chest. "I'm not threatening anyone. This guy's going to leave 'Watchman', as you call him, alone and there won't be a problem. As for who I am, my name's Charles. Or that's what my pompous old git of a father would have me call myself. Charlie's better. You might have called me "Feint" once, because yes, I was a part of your tribe before I woke up and smelt the bullsh*t. Following the Vensworth legacy, my ass. I got outta the tribe. And I'm sorry to see that my little bro's in it now."

Everyone was beginning to blabber way too much for Abel's liking. He turned around to the one who called himself Charlie, getting a good visualization of his face for later. He would need it. He didn't like the way he was talking. Sounded like someone who would be causing trouble. He then turned back over to Joshua and Cal. "Right, remember what I said about watching where you're standing. Streets are for walking, not talking. Besides, brothers, you ought to be focused on patrolling rather than chatting anyway," He declared, before brushing past the three of them.

As Abel left, Joshua got a good look at the Scyther. Not that it was really necessary at this point; his fears were confirmed when the Scyther introduced himself. Joshua just stared at Charlie... unsure of how to react. He just froze in place, completely silent before finally blurting out the first excuse he could think of.

"The Medicham is right... I, uh, I have to get b-back to patrolling!" Without another word, he turned tail and scurried away, not quite running, but much faster than normal pace. There wasn't a destination in his mind; anywhere but there was all that mattered to him.

Cal had been disappointed, for a minute he thought Charlie might have actually been someone he'd forgotten about, or at least someone likable. But all pretenses of politeness shattered when his dislike of the Gold Tribe surfaced. As everyone else made their exit Cal looked at Charlie, his eyes much colder than before. "Let me be perfectly clear, I don't really give a Raticate's ass what you think of the Tribe, I know what my family is like now and that's all that matters. And frankly, I hope you have a good time at the party. But cause any real trouble, and I'll escort you out of the city myself, even if it means carrying your crushed body the whole way." And he walked off without giving the chance for a retort.

Thomas Blake and the Valkarian Exposure - Running Late!

"Wew!" Thomas Blake, leader of the Valkarian Exposure exclaimed as he dropped the body of the still unconscious Gabe beside him, resting on the side of the road. He had been carrying his body for the past hour or so, trying to get him to the ceremony with him. Thankfully Sven the Sandshrew was there to help him, but he could only handle so much weight. If only Gabe weren't a Dark type, it would be so much easier. Thomas panted heavily, his breath short and his body sore. "Sven, what time is it?"

"Almost six in the evening, Tom." Sven replied, sitting beside the Hypno.

"Six?! Damn it, the ceremony is going to start soon! We'll never make it like this...." He said worriedly. He looked down at the unconscious Greninja, and shook him a bit. "Come on, wake up!"

"Looks like he's out cold..." Sven stated.

"Damn it, alright we're gonna have to go without him!" Thomas declared.

"Eh, but...it's only the ceremony. We don't have to be there, do we? Why is it so important?"

"Sven...the ceremony is where everyone's going to be. I have to make sure no lies are spoken about what happened in the Silver War. It's the best chance to command everyone's attention and gain followers. I have to be there," He said to Sven sternly. Sven stared back, a bit of worry in his eyes, looking down at Gabe on the floor.

"O-ok. Yeah, I get you. What about Gabe?"

"I'll tell some Alpha Alliance soldiers to go pick him up and take him to medical along the way. Come on, let's go!"

Guardia and Hanso - Eve of Commencement

The Festival had been in full swing all day. If it won't go down as the largest celebrations Gold City has had in a long time, it'd definitely be on the top of the list. As the hour grew later and the sun began to descend, many of the Pokemon had a specific destination in mind: the center courtyard of Gold City, Liberty Square. There, a stage and podium was set up, with flowers and decorations hanging from the sides of it. In the center, an enormous wreath had been set up, where Pokemon had been adding the names of those they had lost in the war for over two days. By this point, the wreath was covered in little tiny paper marks, to be lit up at the ceremony in remembrance of the day. Also on the stage were two giant goblet-like structures with fire brewing from them. It was the grandest stage of all of the ones scattered around Gold City.

Guardia had just arrived next to the stage, seeing an already massive gathering of Pokemon around it as they eagerly awaited the commencement of the ceremony. General Grett was already there, talking with some of his fellow Pokemon, as was General Riken, a veteran of the Silver War. Guardia also spotted quite a bit of Gold Tribe brothers and sisters as well, with more coming by the second. He expected he would eventually see Penance and Snype here, as well as Hanso. Upon further examination of the area, he saw that Scar had been there the entire time, sitting on the same rock he was left on when they departed each other earlier that day. She wondered if he had been sitting on that rock the entire time. Guardia gave the Mienshao a wave, who waved back at her.

Suddenly, a light tap was felt on Guardia's shoulder, causing her to spin around. To her surprise, it was her old friend, the Gallade Hanso SharpEye. "Hanso!" She exclaimed happily. The two embraced for a moment. "Good to see ya!"

"You too, Lyn. How's the Gold Tribe doing?" He asked her.

"We're good," Guardia stated, giving the Gallade a wide grin. "You know, doing what has to be done, and the like."

"That's good, I'm happy. I hear good things."

"Yeah, well. I always had this crazy Gallade watching my back, keeping me focused," She replied back, referring to Hanso. Although he hadn't always been around when he left the tribe at the end of the Silver War, it was him who gave her the support to become leader in the first place. She never did forget that. "How is everything at SEC?" She asked curiously. SEC had expanded so much now in the past thirty years. Whenever Guardia reflects on it, she is often quite surprised that he had managed to pull it off so successfully.

"Well, Winoc's running a tight ship," The Gallade with the oddly-colored eye began, looking around the sea of Pokemon gathering around the stage. "I'm guessing we'll see him somewhere around here eventually."

"Yeah...lot's of 'mon showing up." Guardia agreed, also looking through the crowd of Pokemon. Something caught her gaze and she nudged Hanso to show him. "Look there," She told him, motioning at the Hypno VE leader Thomas Blake who had just ran over to join the crowd of Pokemon around the stage. "Those guys get on my nerves."

Hanso nodded in agreement. He thought for a moment, particularly about what he had been planning earlier with Synner. A question came to his mind. "...What do you think's their angle?" He asked.

"Hmm? What do you mean?" Guardia inquired.

"I mean, why do you think they're doing the things they are? Do they really believe them?" He began to watch the leader closely as he forced himself through the crowd to get a better view to the front. "Does he?"

Guardia watched the Hypno with Hanso, looking back to the Gallade afterward. He definitely knew something was up, and she was curious what that was. "What have you heard?"

"Just rumors...we'll talk more after." He stated.

All around, the Pokemon murmured and chirped excitedly to see the ceremony commence.

A Small Reunion: Siblings Reunited

Penance saw that the whole area was getting crowded now as Alex smiled, "Ah, what a lovely atmosphere! So, I'm presuming I can keep Obsidian company for a while? Don't worry, I won't take him far away!" He said to Penance as he grabbed the shocked Weavile's hand and before he could protest the dark type was dragged off into the crowd. Penance got off of Surge and frowned, "Keep an eye on him." He told his Kadabra friend softly.

He glanced around, his bill widening as he saw some white and green. "Your turn." He murmured to himself as his left eye became gray once more. He made his way through the crowds and let out a light cough, "Ahem. Brother... it's been some time."

The Gallade turned around at the sound of the familiar voice, one he hadn't heard in a year or so. "Sis!" He said a bit loudly. He went in to give her a hug, but quickly pulled away. He felt a bit strange hugging her ever since she had been in Penance's body. "How've you been?"

Brynn giggled and playfully punched his shoulder, "I've been alright. I won't force you to hug me in public." He said with a wide smile, "I've been good, mostly been going around quite a bit as you can imagine. I know the ceremony is starting soon, but I just wanted to see you. We really should have time... you DO have time right? Now that you aren't heading your group now."

"...Yeah I have some time. We'll talk after, OK?"

He nodded, "Oh, uh, Penance did run into Alexandre. Just thought you should know." He put a hand on his shoulder as he managed a weak smile, "But... I would like that." He quickly pulled his hand away as he squeezed his eyes shut, "Sorry sorry, I forgot you hate that." He rubbed his forehead, "Heh, I can be a klutz sometimes huh?"

Hanso palmed his hand into his face. He disliked the fact of his son getting to close to Penance, but he had been doing it now for years and it wasn't likely to change, no matter what he said. "No arguments here," Hanso teased his sister. "Hey...Brynn," He began, giving her a slight nod and a smirk. "It's good to see you again...well, you know what I mean."

Brynn truly smiled at that, "... Thank you Hanso. Really. In any case, I better let Penance get ready, but I'll lead him away for now." As the Golduck began to walk away he turned around for a second, "But you know I'm still taller!" Brynn stuck out his tongue playfully as he kept on walking away.

Kaveri came to a halt at the edge of the crowded Liberty Square, huffing a bit from her hurried jog to get there. It seemed her rush had been for nothing, though, as the ceremony hadn't yet started! Well, that was a relief. It meant she had time to find Cal! She couldn't really sit through such an important ceremony without her blood brother by her side, yeh? Normally she'd have an easy enough time finding him, but with a crowd this large, there were plenty of figures equally as imposing as his... Hmm, how to find a big green dragon... Oh, right, tall buildings!

Aqua Jetting herself up to the second floor window of the nearest building, Kaveri grabbed onto the windowsill and surveyed the crowd below. 'Where oh where could her little bro be... Aha!' Shoving off the wall, Kaveri Aqua Jetted herself through the air juuuuust far enough... then dove down towards the green blot below, reenacting the way she had tackled the Emerald Sentinel earlier by once again wrapping herself around him. "Found ya! You'd think it'd be easier to find an eight foot tall dragon, but noooo. Eh well, I've found ya now!" Sliding down from his back, she slipped around to face him, remembering something very, very important. At least, she thought it was very, very important. "Oh yeah, ran into Snype earlier. Ya know, King of Thieves guy? We went on a date and stuff. It was great," she said, watching him with an expectant smile as she awaited his reaction.

Snype had taken care of his small errand while on his way to the citadel. He had something gift wrapped inside of his bag! All he had to do was deliver it to the proper recipient... Liberty Square was packed with people! Not quite in the partying kinda way but just waiting for this whole event to start up. Snype started to roam around the crowd looking for some folks... especially Hanso. He'd like to catch up with him. Some of the other thieves seemed to be gathering around as well. They looked like they had just gotten out from eating... he could take a wild guess where.

"Hmmm... where are you Hanso... keheh... It'd be kinda hard to miss the King of Thieves. Maybe he'll find me if he really wants to chat it up. Kehe" Snype thought to himself as he continued to roam through the crowd.

He figured Guardia would be closer to the Citadel so he'd start searching around there. Eventually, Snype ended up spotting her! Convenient, he could probably ask where Hanso was hanging out at. Or not. He didn't want to make it too well known that he had all these other acquaintances. Snype jumped through the crowd and jumped onto her shoulder. "Heya! Kehe. Me again! Miss me?" Snype said giving off a playful laugh.

"What the? Hey! Get offa me!" Guardia roared, trying to push the Sableye off of her. "Don't make me use these!" She yelled, referring to her claws.

Snype laughed a bit. "Kehe, aww, hope your not still bitter about that act I pulled off! You played your part pretty well ya know! Kehe." Snype said as he reached into his bag. "Heheh, hey, remember when I said I was gonna get you a souvenir? Weelll.. I wasn't lying about that." Snype said as he pulled out a gift wrapped object and handed it to Guardia. It'd feel soft to the touch. "It's not a prank or anything I swear. Kehe."

Guardia eyed the Sableye suspiciously. Looking between him and the gift he gave her. "Yeah well, you can forgive me if I'm not skeptical. I swear Snype if this is one of your pranks, once the ceremony is over I'll break your neck."

Snype shook his head. "Kehe, naw it's no prank. Its a legit gift! When I said I was gonna get you a souvenir I wasn't kidding! Cross my heart! Kehehe. Comoonnn, open it! You'll love it I swear!" Snype said, showing off that big toothy grin of his.

Guardia continued to stare skeptically at the Sableye, but decided to cautiously open the gift, seeing what it was that was inside.

The Sableye was right. Inside the gift wasn't a prank of any sort, but it was a small innocent plush. A Sableye plush. Snype was still inflating his ego a bit but it was a rather kind notion for him... well it would be if he didn't use Guardia's cash to buy it! Still... it was without a doubt innocent. Snype rubbed his head a bit bashfully. "Keheh... like it? Took me awhile to find one like that in town." Snype said.

Guardia was genuinely surprised that it wasn't some sort of jest. She eyed the plush interestingly. She supposed this was his idea of being nice. At least, that's what she figured. "Yeah, it's great, I guess," Guardia replied, examining it. "I guess as a token of my thanks, I won't take you down until after the festival is done." She stated with a grin.

Snype grinned. "Kehe, hey that's good enough of a thanks for me! Ya got something to always remember me by at least. Kehe. It'd be pretty bad if the Gold Tribe started to forget about the King of Thieves!" Snype said, throwing a wink over to Guardia. "Kehe, its the least I can do for ya I'd say." He added.

"Yeah, right well...alright then," Guardia said, not sure how to reply back to Snype at the time that would be appropriate. No matter how she saw it, thanking him for anything would be out of line. From behind Guardia, Hanso, who was standing there the entire time, gave Snype a nod. "Snype."

Snype turned behind him after hearing that familiar voice. Made sense that he was near Guardia. "Hanso." Snype simply replied, crossing his arms and giving off a grin. "Kehe, been awhile hasn't it?"

"It has," Hanso replied in his slighty raspier voice. "Everything alright on your end?" He asked the King of Thieves.

Snype nodded. "Keheh, oh better then ever! We managed get things back together pretty quickly after a little bit of time. We're ready for whatever kinda spot we decide to throw ourselves into. Kehe" Snype explained. He wondered if Hanso still had the same thoughts on the Gold Tribe since that request he made thirty years ago... he didn't want to just ask this in public though! Nobody even knew they had that meeting other then the thieves.

"Kehe, soo how that Network of yours doing? I hear you've expanded pretty far out. Kehe. You got tabs on the whole country it seems like." Snype said quietly.

"...A conversation for another time, maybe." Hanso said hurriedly in a similarly quiet tone. "I'm just hope you're keeping track of your end of things like I asked."

Snype nodded. "More then you'd expect. Keheh... maybe we should have a chat about it after the ceremony? I think you at least deserve that information." Snype simply replied.

"Alright," Hanso replied with a nod. "See you then."

"Gotcha." Snype said, heading back over to the crowd and jumping onto Guardia's shoulder for a moment. "Kehe, see ya! Enjoy the gift~" Snype said with a wink as he made his way back into the crowd. Wouldn't be much longer until the Ceremony began.

Golden Storm
Synner and the Arashis

Raishuma Arashi walked down the long corridor of the Citadel, strolling leisurely as he made his way to the ceremony. He was in no hurry, and he didn't mind missing the little bits of excitement that accompanied the moments before an event of this scale. He was getting older, and he didn't care for the way the younger people celebrated anymore. Not to mention the damned "Valkarian Exposure." If they didn't want to believe that Darkrai was a threat, then so be it, but they had no business trying to turn everyone else against the Gold Tribe.

Rai took a step through the Citadel's main doors, letting the sunlight wash over him. He closed his eyes and stood there for a moment, enjoying the warmth. Despite everything that had and was currently happening, things were good. His family was growing, both those directly related to him and his brethren in the Gold Tribe. He was getting older, but at least he was still there to guide the next generation.

From the Citadel's roof, Synner could vaguely make out the city center, already overflowing with Pokemon. He smiled to himself as he saw Pokemon from all over the city flock there. Wouldn't be long now. Though... he did feel a slight pang of guilt at his plan, he had to admit. After all, he was going to violate the privacy of one of his closest friends. In his rush, the Malamar had even forgotten to ask him for permission. Though... given the circumstances, surely he would understand. Right?

Looking down to the bottom of the Citadel, right outside the main doors, he noticed the 'mon himself. What better way to know, he thought, than to ask Raishuma himself? With that, Synner jumped off the roof of the citadel, and began his slow descent downwards with the help of a Psychic.

Synner soon came to a stop right next to the Zebstrika, who seemed to be enjoying the evening's warmth. "Fancy seeing you here, brother," Synner greeted with a polite nod. "Wonderful day, hmm?"

Rai opened one eye, glancing at the Malamar next to him. "Indeed it is," he replied cheerily. "Enjoying the festivities?"

"Oh indeed," Synner said with a short laugh. "I have a feeling things are going to get even more interesting soon."

"Say, would you like to accompany me on a walk, Raishuma?" Synner asked. He stepped forward, as if expecting the Zebstrika to follow. "We were both heading to the ceremony anyway, I presume. And I have some things I'd like to tell you as well."

Rai nodded, falling into step next to Synner. "A chat while walking sounds nice. What is it you wanted to tell me?"

Synner began walking along at a leisurely pace, allowing himself to get swept up in the current of the crowd heading to the city center.

"It's about... ah, what may or may not be a sensitive subject for you," Synner began. "This day, thirty years ago, in the very Citadel we were just at. I know you experienced some terrible things there. And I'm glad you chose to share them with me, of all Pokemon." He hesitated. "That is why I must apologize, Rai."

Synner's gaze shifted to a Loudred. He couldn't be sure if it was the same one from earlier that day, but the very same Loudred still appeared to be handing out flyers for his cause: the Valkarian Exposure.

"Look there," Synner said, as if in an attempt to avoid his previous topic. He motioned with one of his head tentacles to the Loudred. "Before I continue, I'd like to ask you: what are your thoughts on the ones who call themselves the Valkarian Exposure, Rai?"

Rai glanced at the Loudred, taking a moment to respond. "For the most part, I believe them to simply be misguided. I understand none of them saw Darkrai, but the Silver War was a tragedy many had to go through. Many of those that follow the preachings of the VE weren't around for even that." Rai sighed, his tone become a bit more wistful. "Most of them are simply children not wanting to believe in the terrors of this world. But some of them, specifically the ones that spread this nonsense, are nothing more than manipulative creatures. I do not hate them, but I have no love for them."

Synner nodded. "Indeed, you're right on all counts," he agreed, his smile widening.

"Hmm... I'm sure it would be better for all of us if they could simply stop being so scared of the truth. In reality they're infecting others with their fear... and possibly more than just their fear." He paused, and looked away from the Loudred. "But I digress. Raishuma... I'll be blunt: I've betrayed your trust."

The Malamar looked Raishuma right in the eyes, his gaze gentle yet cold. "You allowed me to look at your memories of thirty years ago. And now, I need to use them to prove once and for all that Darkrai exists. I just thought I should tell you that before I do," he explained. "Drastic times call for drastic measures. With influences like those of the Valkarian Exposure threatening to put down this nation's guard, I couldn't just wait for Darkrai to show up and prove his existence on his own, causing a major disaster in the process. You understand what I mean?"

Rai glanced down, taking a moment to think. "Yes . . . yes, I know what you mean. They seek to remove the Gold Tribe, and if they do that, Valkaria will not stand a chance." He looked back at Synner, locking eyes with the psychic. "If you need to use my memories to prove Darkrai's existence, then so be it. It would actually be great to know that my memories of those harsh times could do some good."

The Malamar's beak stretched into a wide smile at the words. "Hahaha!" he laughed in relief. "It's truly good to have your consent, Raishuma. For now I can't say exactly what's going to happen, but rest assured you'll know when it does. And I thank you very much, my friend." He patted the Zebstrika on the back. "I couldn't have done this without you!"

Sighing contently, he returned his gaze to the crowds before him. "I only hope that the people of Valkaria will be prepared when the time comes..." He said nothing for a moment, allowing the chattering of the crowd fill his ears.

"On a lighter note," he began again, "I met your niece earlier today. She was of great help in teaching some rowdy Exposure 'mon a thing or two about the Gold Tribe!" He chuckled heartily at the memory. "Quite charming, if I do say so myself."

"Zai?" Rai chuckled. "Yeah, she's a good girl. If I have to leave the future of the Gold Tribe up to anyone, I'm glad they'll be there to help. They make a good team, her and her brother." Rai stopped walking, glancing up at the stage. It hadn't taken them to long to reach the place of the ceremony. "I don't suppose you'll tell how you plan to use my memories to prove anything?"

Synner halted all the same, scanning the thick crowds around him before laying eyes on the stage himself.

"In due time, my friend, in due time. As I said, you'll know when it happens. I have a plan." He winked at the Zebstrika.

"But I wonder... could we find that charming young Zai or her brother around here somewhere?" he queried in yet another attempt to change the subject. "I wouldn't mind getting acquainted outside of rather rushed combat. Haha!"

"I'm sure she's around here somewhere," Rai stated, looking around.

A few yards away, Zai was standing with her brother, having found him upon arriving with Guardia a few moments ago. She turned around to see Rai and Synner, and immediately walked over to them.

"You guys look a little confused. Looking for someone?" she asked, giggling a little.

"For you, actually." Rai nuzzled her warmly. "How is everyone today?"

"The kids are off with their father, probably with grandma and mom by now."

Rai turned back to Synner, motioning at the twins. "Synner, you've already met Alizai."

"Nice to see you again," she added, nodding politely.

"And this is Mordekai," he stated, motioning to the Liepard.

"Pleased to meet you," the large cat said, nodding in a similar fashion as his sister.

Synner smiled and bowed low, in a manner far too courteous for the occasion. "Pleasure's all mine. Synner Bronze, at your service."

"So, Rai here tells me that the two of you make a most excellent team. I'd love to hear of some of your exploits! Perhaps I could even learn a thing or two myself, hehe."

The twins glanced at each other, mentally coming to some sort of agreement about their response. "Well," Zai started, "we usually work separately, but when there's a particularly rough mission or one of us simply has nothing to do, we'll team up."

"There was this time when we had to go after a renegade Florges. Doesn't sound intimidating, didn't to us at the time either, but I guess that's why they sent both of us."

"First we had to spend a whole day tracking it down."

"Then we had to find a way to corner it so that we could capture it."

"When we did, we found ourselves in a surprisingly tough fight."

"Didn't help that we were two Dark-types going up against a Fairy-type."

"We followed it into a forest, where we assumed we had the advantage."

"But it knew we were coming, and it stunned us both with a Dazzling Gleam attack."

"Before we knew it, it had given itself an advantage by creating a Misty Terrain."

"Then it hit Zai with a Moonblast, almost knocking her out immediately."

"Yeah, it was pretty rough. But then Kai came in with a Fake Out and stunned it."

"Zai got back up and hit it hard with a Stone Edge."

"Then it got back up and hit us with a Nature Power, which was basically another Moonblast because of the Misty Terrain."

"We had to dodge it for a while, and we took some pretty bad hits."

"Then Zai managed to confuse it with a Substitute, and in the brief gap that gave us we combined our Thunder attacks and fried it."

"It still didn't go down, though---Florges are well guarded against non-physical moves, I guess---so Kai backed of quickly and I trapped the Florges and I with a Perish Song."

"Right as they were about to collapse, I got Zai out of there. The Florges went down and we came out successful."

"It was a fun day," Zai finished, laughing.

Synner laughed along with her. "Indeed, sounds like it!" he agreed. "The legends are true; you are quite the team."

The Malamar turned a watchful eye to the stage, and then the direction he had come from, where it seemed the last of the crowds were coming in.

"Looks like it'll start up soon," he observed. "Haha... This'll most certainly be a fun day as well."

Callimer "Emerald Sentinel" Vian

After the awkward, and extremely standoffish little meeting Cal had a much harder time smiling at everyone he passed by. That Beatrucian Medicham had been so... off, and then before he could properly end the whole thing amiably that Scyther Charlie showed his face and made it even more tense than it already was. He walked around for a while longer, breaking up a few fights - usually with just his presence - picking up some trash and escorting a few people who'd had way too much to drink to alleys to sober up. Eventually he got bored enough that he decided to cover more ground and take a look at everything from the air, a huge gust of air spreading from him as his wings propelled his huge body into the air. He had to admit he kind of enjoyed the way 'mon were reacted when they saw him soaring over their heads, especially the drunk ones who tried to follow him with their eyes and fell over. He covered quite a large area but their really wasn't much to see so he didn't really spend all that long flying either, especially when he noticed the sky start to turn orange and the sun begin to sink.

"Like hell I'm gonna be late, I need to give Scar the honor he deserves, and I wanna see who's the lucky bastard taking his place!" His body took on a white glow as he gathered as much energy as he could in his wings - he was so glad he'd practiced his Extremespeed enough to localize it - and with one powerful push of the leathery masses on his back he rocketed towards Liberty Square. The few Tribemates who were there before Cal made various sounds of awe and surprise as a whoosh just short of a sonic boom echoed out over their heads and they all spread out to accommodate the draconic mass making it's way down towards them. He had to give his wings one last good flap right before he hit the ground to avoid cracking the pavement and maybe making a small crater, but the flap itself managed to knock a few brothers and sister over. "Sorry about that everyone! You won't get anymore ruckus from me for now!"

Waiting for everyone to finish showing up and the ceremony to begin was excruciating, but before all that much boredom could pass Cal's antennae twitched at a whooshing sound and he braced himself, he knew that sound anywhere. Kaveri greeted him in her favorite fashion, slipping around to talk to him and then sliding down to stand with him. It was all pretty mundane until she mentioned...a date? With Snype? For a split second Cal got ready to smash something but then a sly smile crossed his face and he smirked good-naturedly at his sister and lifted her by her float with one hand to mess with her. "Oh yeah? Did he end up bruised, battered and dripping like your last few 'dates'? As long as you didn't let him steal anything - or god forbid join in - you won't here any complaints from me." He set her down and decided to take his own little jab.

"I'm not worried about having to make sure you've made any good decisions of love any time soon. You'll probably do that before I do, with the way you usually 'date' " He let out a little laugh and finished. "Besides, I still remember the look you gave that Willimina girl when she asked me to that last party."

An Uncomfortable Reunion
Charlie and Joshua Vensworth

Charlie stared away past the green Dragonite, in a slack-jawed stare that his own brother's first instinct was to get the hell away from him. It took what felt like an age before he even pushed past Callimer to give chase - if Joshua thought he could run away from someone with a three foot height advantage and wings, he was horribly mistaken - Charlie was only in town for one day and he was not missing his chance to meet his brother again for the first time in seven long years. As he reached Joshua's side, he addressed his younger brother - "Josh... what are you doin'? Aren't ya happy ta see me... It's been forever. I've missed ya, kid!"

Joshua was paralyzed, unsure of how to react. How was he supposed to? Charlie - his brother whom he hadn't seen in years - was now at his side, talking as if it were a normal, everyday experience. Joshua simply stood still, bearing a blank expression, not even looking Charlie in the eye. "I'm s-sorry, citizen, but I've got, uh... important, ah, business... to attend to!" He blurted the words out with uncertainty. "Please direct all inquiries to Lyn 'Guardia' Reed. Thank you!" As he finished, he tried once again to ditch the Scyther.

"No way. You ain't playin' this on me, bro. We're brothers for better or worse right?" Charlie put himself physically in front of the Swadloon - not allowing him to escape his view. "I'm in town for one day. I haven't been able to come by because I'm, I don't know, banished from this place. I've got a lot of catching up to do with you... and I know we've gotta few wounds to patch over, Josh. Don't blank me like this." Charlie almost pleaded to his brother. He knew Joshua would hate him after everything, but he also knew Josh was a smart kid. "You gotta know talkin' this over is gonna be better than running away from it."

Joshua closed his eyes momentarily, as if trying to keep his feelings from bursting out. After a few seconds, he suddenly snapped. "Running away from it? Oh, you mean like you ran away from us, your family? How you just ditched us without even so much as a goodbye?!" Finally, he brought his gaze to meet Charlies, anger etched across his brow. "Or am I just supposed to forget everything and pretend it never happened, like how you forgot about everybody else?"

"I.... I didn't run! I got forced away because I made a bad call!" Charlie scrambled to find some answer, some reason for abandoning his little brother. "- and I never forgot you. Ever. I mean, as far as I'm concerned, Dad can go to hell for forcing me into the Tribe, but... Josh, you gotta believe me, this is my first chance to come back to Valkaria. I only came here because I thought I might find you, you and Dani were my entire thought process when Snype said he'd be bringin' me down this way. If I coulda come back to find ya sooner, I would."

"Well, you found me," Joshua snapped back. "So now you can go back to whatever hole you crawled out of to get here! Or do you honestly expect me to think you still care? If you had cared, you wouldn't have left in the first place!"

"I didn't choose to leave! I got caught doin' wrong, I got made to leave, there ain't no way left for me to get by now than by stealin' and cheatin' and because 'a that, they're doin' everythin' they can to keep me outta here!" Charlie could feel the headache coming on. "I've been countin' the months, weeks, days, hours, minutes just so I can come to this city on the off-chance I could find you! You can't just throw me away like this, bro! You know I care. I know you know it. You gotta believe me."

Joshua just looked at Charlie with complete disbelief. Did his brother really think he could win him over with that sob story? Joshua adjusted his cloak and closed his eyes momentarily. When he spoke again, his voice was almost a whisper. "I don't have time for this... I have work to do, and the ceremony is starting soon. Goodbye, Charles." With that, he pushed right past the Scyther, walking towards the Citadel, keeping his eyes forward and not looking back for anything.

That was it. Joshua had told him all he needed to hear, and he didn't even resist as the Swadloon pushed past him, only staring over his shoulder as he watched his brother choose to walk away from him, as he made his decision to leave his side. He wasn't even angry at Joshua, he could understand it. But he'd at least hoped for something different to come of it. Just... anything. He turned away from the Citadel, not even bothering to take to his wings as he trudged back towards the speakeasy. When the other Thieves were ready to go he'd leave. There was nothing for him here.

The Ceremony for the Fallen - Gold City

The excited murmuring and whispering of Pokemon was heard all across Liberty Square as Generals Riken and Grett made their way up to the stage. Once Riken reached the top, the Conkeldurr placed down his massive concrete cylinders at the side of the stage. Grett approached the podium while Riken stood beside him. The young Sceptile General moved his hands up to quiet the crowd. His eyes wandered throughout the crowd for a bit, as if taking in the enormity of the size which has gathered.

"Why are we all here?" Grett asked the crowd. The question was followed by splits of chatting between some Pokemon and a few bewildered looks. Abel, who had just arrived and stood at the very back of the gathered crowd, crossed his arms and observed silently. "We have come for the festival. You have all gathered to witness the ceremony, but why are we all here? How did we get here? What reason are we still here?" As more bewilderment followed, Grett turned around and looked at the gigantic wreath with thousands of pieces of paper attached to it. The General walked over to the wreath, and pulled out a random piece of paper which was attached to it. He looked down at it. "George Estran, 2446." He read out loud, looking out through the many faces of the crowd as he did. He put the piece of paper back and picked out another one.

"Ariel Aone," He read, once more looking out into the crowd. Again, he put it back, and again he picked another one out. "Sainan Arashi," he read, this one causing Guardia to look down at the ground below her. "Marco Faux. Gianna Mende. Paul Reydem." The General read a few more names in bulk. "These names…" he continued, placing the pieces of paper back on the wreath, and approached the podium again. "These aren't just names. They were friends. Fathers. Mothers. Sons. Daughters. Brothers. Sisters. Loved ones. These names are the reason we have gathered here today. But they are also the only reason we can be. It was their sacrifices, their blood, which has given us the opportunity to continue on with our lives. And I believe as we continue to live our lives the best way we can, we may continue to honor them." Grett turned around again to the wreath. "I have begun to call this the Wreath of Life. If you would all share a moment of silence with me, General Riken and I will light the wreath, and honor the dead."

Guardia and many others around now stood in silence, as Riken and Grett picked up a large stick beside the two goblets of fire. The two simultaneously lit the sticks with the fire, and then approached the wreath. The fire began to work its way around the paper, burning through it quickly and spreading all across it. Eventually the entire wreath was blazing with the ember. The Pokemon gathered around, seeing this act performed, began to cheer and clap and some even cry. Guardia sighed deeply, remembering those she had lost as well.

Grett once more approached the podium, trying to quiet the crowd down again as he spoke once more. "Now, I know that today, we have some very special guests around. Brave fighters who were there to see this bloody Silver War until the very end. They all hail from a variety of backgrounds. Gold Tribe. Thieves. Affiliates. Alpha Alliance. Yet in the very end, they all banded together to fight Darkrai an-"

"WRONG!" Thomas Blake suddenly yelled from the front of the crowd. "That is a lie! Darkrai was NOT present at the Citadel thirty years ago! I will not let you indoctrinate all of these Pokemon with your lies!"

"Blake, have you no shame?!" Riken shouted back to Thomas in the crowd. "How dare you make a mockery of us with your conspiracy nonsense! And at a time like this?!"

"I have every respect for the dead in the Silver War! They are the reason we are all here! But I will NOT allow their memories to be disrespected by the lies the Gold Tribe have told us!"

"You're out of line!" Riken yelled, followed by an enormous amount of other Pokemon yelling across at Blake, and vice versa. A shouting match had ensued with both sides trying to say their opinons, but with hardly any being coherent on either side. Guardia wasn't sure she ever wanted to punch anyone more than she did Thomas right now.

"Gentle'mon, Gentle'mon!" Grett tried to calm the crowd down. He sucked in a deep breath. "GENTLE'MON!" He exclaimed at the top of his breath. This caused much of the crowd to begin to quiet again, although they looked like they would burst again at any minute. "This pointless shouting will get us nowhere." Guardia was glad at least one of the Generals was thinking sensibly.

"Yes, it is true. Darkrai was there, and he's out there now," Grett declared. Before Thomas Blake could rebutte and say anything else, Grett added another line. "I have seen him."

Thomas stopped himself from interrupting this time. He tilted his head in a puzzled manner, while Guardia cocked an eyebrow. How could have he seen Darkrai? He wasn't even born yet. Grett continued to speak.

"You see, it is true. The Dark One has disappeared for the past three decades. But he is not gone. He was merely preparing. The power of the Gold Crystal in the Citadel was too much on his body. He needed to recuperate. To build up his strength. To build up his forces again. Beyond that, he needed to expand his forces beyond the likes of his power, of Ancients." The crowd began to murmur. Some were confused, others were getting a bit fidgety. Some Pokemon began to back away from the stage. A few others came in closer to hear a bit better. Guardia began to feel uneasy. The things which Grett was describing isn't exactly something anyone would have known. It didn't sound like he was taking liberties or making things up. It sounds like he knew.

"The Bender of Reality had seen the power of Gold and knew that the same tactics wouldn't work again, so conscription became more...voluntary. Oh, you wouldn't believe the numbers that would flock when one speaks a certain way, when one shows certain powers. When one promises the world and more. Chaos is a powerful tool of control. But when one fights willingly[/], they fight with passion! They fight with purpose. They fight harder, and they leave more destruction in their wake. They are chaos!" A low hum began around the city. Though it was believed to be originating from somewhere inside, it actually began outside of the city, on the plains. The hum began to turn into a rumble, and Guardia knew in her mind that the long awaited day of doom seemed to be upon them. Pokemon began to rush away and panic. Many began to cry and scream. The city was slowly beginning to go into a frenzy. Abel hopped onto a few buildings, jumping from shorter one to taller one so he could get a better view of what was happening outside. From there, he saw deep into the plains as a sort of energy seemed to be expanding. It was dark, black in some areas and a more purple hue in others. It originated from one point and soon harshly took over across the plains, like water spilled over a surface and overtaking everything on that surface. Yet the focal point, the central point from which all the other darkness expanded, only grew more. From behind Abel, he could hear Grett speak once more.

"Destruction Saint, swims in blood.
Sealed away eternally.
Shattered cell, end begins.
Chaos for eternity."

Out of the blackness of the plains, from the spewing darkness which began to engulf the land, the Dark One emerged. And as the darkness died down, it revealed a horde, a swarming army of Pokemon beside him.

Snype got mixed up in all of the commotion going down. Suddenly everyone was panicing from the sudden vibrations. This seemed to be too obvious of a scenario.. and attack where everyone had been gathered around... But Snype never would have expected this to happen so soon! The past thirty years of preparation would hopefully pay off. Finally time to set things into action. He originally set the thieves up to be a fail safe for the Gold Tribe. At the same time though, they'd need to be ready for Darkrai. Snype got onto higher ground and whistled several times. This time, several Ninjask flew toward Snype.

"It's time. Warn all branches of the thieves and tell them to prepare themselves. Notify the Speakeasy. We may have to evacuate some people through there if things get bad."

The Ninjask buzzed in shock. "What? Your going to just show them where it-"

"We're dealing with the Dark One here. I think I can sacrifice my secrets for the well being of the thieves. Now hurry up! And let any other Ninjask you pass by know about this! The faster they're notified the better! Chances are they've already found out. Fortify our bases. If you need to, use our forts as bunkers for anyone evacuating. Warn the other cities while your at it." Snype explained.

"Boss what about you? Shouldn't you evacuate?" He asked.

"Kehehe, Call it a bit out of character for me, but I'd like to stick around and fight here and see what we're dealing with here. This isn't subtle enough for Darkari. I'd like to see our chances before bring out drastic measures. The Gold Tribe or SEC may have something. If they haven't wasted the past thirty years or anything that is. If you run into trouble, escape to Eden Forest. " Snype said.

The Ninjask all made a buzzing noise and flew off into the distance, keeping Snype's orders locked in its head. Time to get to work...

The Chaos Begins

Penance stared for a bit at the horizon as he nodded slowly. "Oh... oh... darkness. Of course." He let out a sigh and shook his head, "You know... it's saddening..." He said slowly, "I thought he would have had... oh more subtle help." He glanced at Grett with a look of disapproval in his eyes, "I really... really am disappointed. Tsk tsk Grett." His eyes narrowed at him, "Though... I think I'll leave this in his hands though... though it is a bit of spoilers... but oh well." The Golduck's eyes flashed crimson as his body tightened up. In an instant his blue body began to change. The blue turned to a deep black as even his eyes went a change, his eyes becoming a full deep red. In an instant he was before the Sceptile and reached out to grab his neck, "Tsk... tsk..." Paradox said, his voice fall deeper and full of menace, "You disappoint me."

Grett held his arms to the sky, completely oblivious to the hand around his neck. "You can't stop it now!" Grett exclaimed, proceeding to laugh maniacally. "You'll all wash away in chaos and destruction, as was ordained!"

Raz, meanwhile, was caught up in the middle of his own manic laughter, almost doubling over in his fit of giggles. "AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Well, you look pretty stupid now, don't you, mister Hypno?" The Dreadmage threw his cup into the air and reduced it to ashes with a blast of fire. "Right. Let's do this sh*t. I've been not killing for long enough, today, anyhow."

Zai's fur began to stand on end. She couldn't see the darkness closing in, but she could sense it, due to her being an Absol. Her eyes widened as she mentally began to panic a bit. "How is this happening?" she growled. She turned to her twin and her uncle, locking eyes with them. "What do we do?"

"Try to keep anybody from being killed," Kai growled.

As soon as everything turned sour Cal's first thought was to keep as many of the regular citizens as possible safe, and he knew they needed to have a plan to spread. With a push of his wings he leaped straight to Lyn and prepared for the worst. "Guardia! We've got to get the citizens to safety right? What should I do? I'll be there to slow them down in a second if you think it would be best."

Next to him, Kaveri was staring blankly at the wall of darkness, her mind racing. When she'd taken on Wildfire's promise, she hadn't imagined that Darkrai would return during her lifetime! Her grin had disappeared, but now it was slowly returning, though it was one of grim determination rather than her usual cheerfulness. Well, that was fine by her! She followed Cal over to Guardia, looking a heck of a lot more serious than her usual self.

The armies of Darkrai were heading straight for Gold City, and they would be here soon. Guardia had many sleepless nights where she imagined something similar was going on, and it finally happened. Instinct and experience began to take over as she began shouting orders. "Get the citizens to the Network points in the city! Have them 'port to the other cities quickly!" She looked around as the Gold Tribe in Liberty Square began gathering around her.

"We need to split up," She declared hastily. "Ripper, take half of the tribe and make sure the citizens get out of the city at the Network points. Everyone else, follow me to the wall! We have to hold back Darkrai's forces!"

Cal only had one thing he could possibly imagine doing before getting to the wall, and only for his peace of mind. He only looked at Grett and lent an ear to his ranting for a moment before air rose around him and he began to glow, after another moment he wrenched back an arm and slammed his fist into Grett's face so hard it knocked him right out of Penance's grip and sent him reeling off the stage. As soon as Guardia dispensed the orders he knew which team he was going with. He jumped back into the crowd—those of them that hadn't run off screaming yet—and hugged Kaveri just short of hard enough to crack a rib. "Help with the evacuation, I don't know anybody better at being squirrely than you." Without waiting for an answer he let go of her and flew off towards the wall.

Kaveri gritted her teeth, narrowing her eyes at her brother. Help with evacuation?! Heh, he should know her better than that! Once she decided on something, she did it, and she'd already decided that she was going to join the fighting! Besides, how could he expect her to leave her little bro to fight without his big sis? Dragonite or not, she was still gonna look out for him. There were plenty of others already helping with evacuation anyways.

During the panic, Zai twisted on her feet and sprinted into the city. She would find her family before anything else. It only took her a moment to sniff them out, and she came across them as her husband, Desmond, was ushering them to the Network. "Zai, get to the walls! I've got them, don't worry about this!"

"I can't just—"

"Go!" Zai growled angrily and turned around, sprinting back to the second group. She could trust Desmond to get the others to safety. For now, she would have to witness Darkrai's powers for herself.

Paradox was about to speak a bit more, but then the Dragonite punched the Sceptile out of his grip and he just sighed, "Well then." He said simply as he flicked a finger toward Guardia to stop her in her tracks with a bit of psychic power, "No, you're not going." He said firmly, He calmly walked down the stage, "Little Zangoose you are NOWHERE near my power level. Did you forget the war already? How easily I took you all on? Oh no... this is my playing field now."

He glanced over at the others and closed his eyes, tsking loudly, "Poor poor Gold Tribe, not even looking under their own noses or suspecting in the least." He wagged a finger in front of Guardia's face, "I'm VERY disappointed my dear." The psychic grip faded from her as he began to walk, "Get your pathetic warriors and leave the city. You might survive if you fight... for a few minutes. But... I've been itching for some good old chaos." He held up a hand as a black ball of chaos formed in it, "You can TRY to fight I suppose. Just don't get in my way."

"Penance, Paradox, whatever," Guardia began to say to the black Golduck. "If you get in my way right now, I swear I will rip your guts out through your a*s!" She shouted at the top of her lungs.

Raz chuckled. "I'm assuming you're not so eager to dissuade my help now, oh leader of the Gold Tribe."

"Shut up, Raisinnfall! Help out or get out of the way!" She yelled at the little Ralts. "Everyone, let's get going!" At which the Gold Tribe dispersed, with Abel following Ripper to the Network points.

Joshua began to visibly panic, seeing as they had been betrayed and the Dark One's army was enclosing on the city. "Thisisn'thappeningthisisn'thappeningthisisn'thappeningthisisn'thappening!" He managed to collect himself just enough to listen to Guardia's instructions. While the survivalist in himself was telling him to bolt out of the city as fast as he could, he was Gold Tribe now. Abandoning the city was not an option at this point. Against all better judgement, he had to stay and help, following Abel and Ripper towards the Network points.

Before Guardia had even finished speaking, Kaveri was already darting off, weaving her way through the panicked crowd or sometimes even leaping off their heads when the throng became too thick. Her eyes scanned the sky as she ran, searching for the Emerald Sentinel. She finally spotted him flying further ahead, but not so far that she wouldn't be able to catch up with him before he reached the wall—she was called Jetstream for a reason, after all! Water surrounded her as she leaped off the ground and into the air, boosting herself with an Agility to shoot herself even higher and further. Reaching out her paws, she grabbed onto Cal's tail and dragged herself up onto his back. "Thought you could leave me behind, eh? Well ya thought wrong!"

Cal huffed at his sister when she caught up to him. "Have it your way but if you get hurt I'm not gonna be happy, they need 'mon as fast and dodgy as you with the evacuation."

Victor "Firestorm" Maelstrom

An Analysis of Mega Stones. The words were etched into the cover of the tome, bound in something that seemed very much like leather. Victor had been contemplating the meaning of it, but had little interest in reading the book itself. The book was intended for the eyes of another, though Victor was hesitant about the prospect. Victor had received the same courtesy as everyone else in the region, a chance to celebrate and honor the events of 30 years previously. There was little joy in the memories of that time for Victor, though. He had meant to avoid the festival entirely, but it seemed that fate had other plans. The Blaziken who hired him was very adamant that this book be delivered, and this was the best place to find him.

Victor walked across Valkaria, and came to see Gold City in all it's splendor. It looked as if it had already began. "I knew it was a bad idea to take that detour through the forest..." He approached the entrance, and prepared to be stopped by whatever law enforcement was in charge at the moment. A group of Wigglytuff greeted him at the gate, though he had expected something a bit bigger.

"Are you here for the festival?" one of them asked him.

"Not exactly, I have a delivery." Victor held up the book.

One of the others perked up. "Oh, I can help you with that! Who are you here to deliver the book to then?"

Victor didn't want to waste too much time on this, and he knew that telling them who it was going to was a bad idea. "My contractor is anonymous, I think maybe it would be best if we kept the recipient the same way."

"I'm sorry, but unless I know who you are bringing it to, I can't let you in. It's too suspicious."

"Listen here-"

The sounds of commotion could be heard suddenly, replacing the happy sounds of celebration that had been echoing all across the city. But that was nothing compared to the hum. It pierced through everything else. The Wigglytuff looked in awe, past Victor, at some horrible presence. Victor turned around to see a giant black mass on the plains that he had just been traveling in. "I'm not getting paid well enough for this..."

Victor ruched past the Wigglytuff and into the city. This looked really bad, and he was not about to get involved in this madness. He had to deliver the book, and then he would get far away. He just had to find him. Find the Madman...

Guardia and Snype

The Thieves Plan
As the Gold Tribe split up, Guardia began sprinting toward the wall with her group in tow. The way she figured, the wall surrounding the main gates and the two side gates would be the points which would be hit the hardest. She figured the best approach to hold off Darkrai's forces would be to spread her tribemates in those points. Even then, she expected they would be severely outnumbered, but the goal now was to ensure as many Alpha Alliance citizens as possible would get out before any enemies penetrated the city. After that...well, she'd get to that when the time came.

Snype was on the move. If there was any time to spill the beans about what he'd been doing the past thirty years, now was the time. He wasn't too far away from Guardia at least so tracking her wasn't too difficult. "Guardia!" Snype called out, running along side her. "I'm already working on notifying the other cities about the incident. They should hopefully be prepared for the worst once the thieves let everybody know. They should be notifying the cities in Beatruce as well." Snype said. He was coming off as way more serious. Its like Snype had changed into a totally different person.

"Wha-" Guardia began, giving the Sableye an odd look. "Since when did you have that kinda pull?" She inquired from him, all the while running as fast as she could to the wall.

Snype simply snickered. "Keheheh, I've had it longer then you'd think Guardia. I figure I oughta spill the beans if you guys are going to survive this. I've been preparing for this very situation ever since the thieves were put back together. Didn't you ever stop to think why we hadn't been as active as we normally should be as thieves? Keheh. SEC never even noticed our activity out there..." Snype said, pausing to give Guardia a word on the whole situation.

"Heh, I just thought you were on your best behavior and stayin' put in your little hole!" Guardia joked. She did hear reports of possible thief expansion before, but it was still a bit shocking to her that they had focused a lot of their resources on this type of planning instead of on normal...thief stuff. She supposed there was more than a thief behind the mind of Snype. "Alright, that's good to hear at least. If anything happens to the Network, this'll be huge! Keep me posted!"

"Man I can't believe I'm telling ya all of our secrets... blasted Darkrai. Keheh...Guardia the thieves are everywhere now. If there's a major city, you can bet the thieves are there watching everything and hearing everything. Dunno if you caught on to all the Ninjask flying around. Keheh. Just a little exploit." Snype stopped in his tracks and whistled into the air loudly, calling in another Ninjask.

"Hey Guardia, you good at whistling? I'm sure you got a bit of your thief side in ya. Kehe." Snype asked, motioning over to the Ninjask. "Hope so. You two will be working together. If you need to communicate with anybody at long range within the Gold Tribe, Then I'll allow you temporary access to our Ninjask Network. Let them know your message, and they'll get right to work." Snype explained.

"Alright, sounds good!" Guardia said with a nod. "Hey, don't die out there!"

Really? Right now? Seriously?!?

Speeding along Cal did his best to brake as efficiently as possible when he spotted Snype, snapping his wings taut and skidding on the ground a few feet. He had to make it quick, but he couldn't just let the opportunity go without having a bit of fun first. "Hey, you Snype? The infamous 'King of Thieves'?"

Snype was about to make a dash until he heard somebody call him out. "Hm? Yeah that's me. What's up? We're kind of under attack here. Kehe," Snype said.

Kaveri peered over Cal's shoulder, blinking down at Snype. "Oh, hey there."

Cal sauntered up to Snype and shook his hand, lifting him up in the air and - more accurately really shaking his whole body - without even meaning to. "It's nice to meet you! I've heard impressive things about you, and that you made friends with my big - " He looked over his shoulder. "Well, older, not so much bigger - sister. She told me you guys had some fun! I know she was just trying to get a rise out of me when she said 'date' but I wouldn't take the bait, I'm much harder to rile up than that."

Snype waved to Kaveri, but turned to Cal and just blinked... He was rather baffled. "Are... a-are we... really having this conversation...?" Snype said.

"That being said." Cal continued as if Snype had no objections whatsoever. "Don't get any ideas." At this his smile grew more pleasant instead of fading. "Because if you do, Darkrai will be the least of your worries. Anywhoo, sorry to waste your time."

Kaveri nodded solemnly. "Oh, yes, he has big meteors."

"Wow. We are seriously having this conversation right now." Snype said, still somewhat baffled. Though that'd quickly turn to a smirk. "Really, though, its no big deal. Kehe." Snype said as he clung onto a nearby building, but before he left, he wanted to give off one more small fib to mess with Cal since clearly Kaveri had done such a good job at it. "Kehe, and don't worry! I don't have any ideas... after all, I managed to figure out that she's a good kisser! Kehehe!" With that, Snype ran right off, hoping to hear Cal's reaction or even Kaveri's reaction to that.

"Hmmm..." Cal sat stock-still for a moment before he craned his head to look, unblinking, at Kaveri. "Oh yeah?"

Despite the seriousness of the situation they were supposed to be in, Kaveri's grin widened and she blinked innocently at Cal. "I thought you said you didn't care about my love life?"

"I said I didn't believe you would have a love life, but we can talk about it later." At this Cal's smile came back and he patted Kaveri's head. "Hold on, this is going to be fast, even for you." His wings started to glow white again, he figured it was worth using Extremespeed without being in a battle for the second time that day to catch up with everyone. After a few more seconds of gathering energy Cal practically exploded towards the wall, leaving behind a white blur.

Sylvio Arcansus & Joshua "Watchman"

Sylvio and Griff were there when the wreath was set on fire. The Delphox was skulking away from sight, close to the alleys, the Braviary silently standing guard next to him. After he had left the inn where he was staying, Sylvio had put on the dark fireproof robes of dragon-cloth with the Sun marked on them, the robes he used as a duelist. A special occasion called for a special outfit, but this occasion turned to be the most special of all. Grett, a General no less, was proclaiming the second coming of Darkrai in front of every gathered member in the Liberty Square. Sylvio's face darkened when he heard the words, Destruction Saint, swims in blood, sealed away eternally, shattered cell, end begins, chaos for eternity. He was hearing a humming noise, that turned into rumbling. Cries and screams rose from the city. The citizens were panicking, going into a frenzy.

The Delphox didn't need to look around to understand what was going on. He noticed the Madman had transformed into his chaos form, Paradox, and had locked Grett in his grasp. Sylvio stared at the helpless Sceptile. "Tool," he muttered, only for Griff to hear. He turned to the bird. "He is a tool, Griff. Prophesying the Dark One's coming in the middle of his enemies... I doubt he will live much longer." Griff glanced at General Grett, and then fixed his black eyes on Sylvio's red ones. The bird nodded his agreement. Sylvio came up with an idea. "Griff, I want you to do something."

Sylvio took out his stick and drew a circle on the ground. Then, he started drawing curves that resembled flamboyant flower petals in it. Griff looked at it for a long moment, then back to his master. He let out an unintelligible cry, spread his wings and kicked the ground, taking flight to complete his task.

Sylvio turned his back on the Liberty Square and moved through the alley casually, as if he was on a stroll. Once he came out on the other side of the alley, he saw the Gold Tribe, Abel, Ripper and Joshua. His face became a mask that lacked any emotion. He didn't offer his help to Abel, knowing the Medicham would just scorn him; instead, he dragged Joshua off to the side of the road and pinned him against the ground with his stick. He knew him well, so another lesson was in order.

"Wah!" Joshua yelped in surprise as Sylvio dragged him into the alley. He shut his eyes tight, thinking that he had been captured by one of Darkrai's soldiers. "Please don't kill me! I-"

"Joshua," Sylvio interrupted him, "the key to surviving situations like these is to stay calm. Look at me. Do I worry? No. No good will ever come out of panicking. Yes?"

Joshua peeked an eye open once Sylvio addressed him by name, calming down significantly, though still in a state of panic. The impending armies encompassing them were nearing the walls. They were positioned to take the city, and Sylvio was trying to talk sense into the Swadloon.

"B-but look at us!" Joshua spoke frantically, trying his hardest to avoid an anxiety attack. "We aren't prepared for an assault right now! Grett is on their side, who knows how many spies Darkrai has planted among us!" Joshua began to visibly tremble as his speech became more and more rushed, filling with panic against Sylvio's advice. "We're all done for! We have to get out of here now before we're all killed... or worse!"

Sylvio kept a stoic face, leaning aboving the Swadloon and looking past him. He allowed Joshua to let out his thoughts. "There is still the SEC Network," he suggested plainly. "And I believe Gold City is made of sterner stuff than you think. It will not fall easily. And in the meantime, there will be an ample amount of time for us to get out of here." He sheathed his stick in a pocket of his robe and looked down upon the Swadloon with the aura of serenity that he always projected. "Let's go help with the links, shall we?"

Joshua wanted to object, but he took notice of Sylvio's calm demeanor. Perhaps there was a lesson to be learned here, even amidst the chaos around them. Joshua took in a deep breath, then exhaled, attempting to reciprocate the attitude being shown by the Delphox. Once he had felt more in control, he nodded once, still shivering slightly. "O-okay... we should hurry, then!"

"Indeed," Sylvio agreed, glancing at the 'mon who scurried past in the road. They made their way to the links, having to keep up a steady pace of running, as not to be trampled by the terrified, screaming citizens.

Warren "Devastator" Karkanos

Warren pushed through thronging crowds in search of the generals, the time closing until the ceremony. "God dammit..." He muttered to himself. "If those buggers start the ceremony without me...OUT OF THE WAY!" He roared as he grew closer and closer to the stage. "ALPHA ALLIANCE GENERAL COMING THROUGH!" Several citizens grew angry with the Blastoise, but he kept pushing through.

A particularly angry Miltank pulled him over to the side, "Excuse me! Sir, my son and I have been waiting all year for this celebration! Thousands of men died during this war!" A young Tauros stood behind his mother, snorting his agreement.

The general's eyes narrowed as he stared the woman in the eyes. "I apologize ma'am, but I need to be on that stage!" He growled in anger, "I fought it that bloody war you're preaching about," A stamp of the foot confirmed his fury. "I knew more god damn men that I've called brothers in that war than you've known all together." With that he stormed off, the shocked mother and child left behind him.

As the general approached the stage, he heard the ceremony begin. Those Arceus forsaken bastards... Warren got closer and closer before a soldier cried out from the front, interrupting general Grett. After a brief exchange, the Sceptile began to say something.

"Destruction Saint, swims in blood.
Sealed away eternally.
Shattered cell, end begins.
Chaos for eternity."

Darkness filled the air. He's here. The general looked around at the gathered soldiers. They seemed nervous. Rightly so. He glared at his fellow general. "GRETT! YOU TRAITOR!" Normally he would challenge him to a battle, but now he had greater concerns. He glanced at the third general, Riken, and barked out, "I'M GOING TO THE WALL!" He turned around to face his fellow soldiers. "MEN, TAKE COURAGE! WE'VE BEATEN THIS MONSTER ONCE! WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!" Karkanos turned back to the wall and charged forth. "YOU'LL SEE WHY THEY CALL ME THE DEVASTATOR!" The cannons on his back sprung forth, ready for action.

Paradox: Some father issues perhaps?

Paradox just smirked as Guardia and her precious GT ran on by. The few that glanced at him plainly had horror written on their face. He couldn't help but feel the need to laugh at their ridiculous tactics. Yes, fight the army of darkness his 'father' brought with him, of course normal Pokemon such as themselves would easily be able to beat the odds. All they needed was hope and clarity and all the other silly things they would tell themselves. Though, now his question he had all of these years was now answered. Voluntarily meant no corruption, which meant no way to trace them. Well, he probably would have to do some spring cleaning once everything settled down-

No you won't. Penance said firmly, Go out and beat that army already! Chaos against chaos...

"Is the best kind of chaos..." Paradox said with a growing grin. He quickly whipped around and pointed a claw right at Thomas, "Not so fake am I now?" He asked smugly He turned right back, but before he could go a cry pierced through the air. "PENANCE!"

Obsidian was running right for Paradox with Alex doing his best to hold him back, but to no avail. The Weavile got right into Paradox's face as he balled up his hands, "I want to speak to Penance, Paradox."

The corrupted duck smirked and crossed his arms, "Penance? At this time boy? I know you're precious to him and all, but in case you didn't notice my father is out there and of course, being the guy I am, I'll have to go and-"

"No!" Obsidian snapped, "There's too many out there! I know that much! Penance always said you two were close, well closer now, and you can't go out there! What if Darkrai kills you two!?"

Paradox snorted, "Him? Heh, he wouldn't. He's an idiot like that you know." Paradox's eyes softened a bit as his black skin melted away, the blue flesh of the Golduck quickly returning as Penance grabbed Obsidian's shoulders, "Obsidian, listen. You're not safe here. I can guarantee that. With uncorrupted infiltrating our ranks there's bound to be someone who not only caught sight of you, but also knows how much I care for you. Trust no one except Hanso, Guardia, or Scar. Do you hear me?"

By that point Alexandre had managed to walk up, though Penance could easily tell the Gardevoir was keeping his guard up. "Alex.... I know this is all new to you, but please keep Obsidian safe. I'm trusting you here. You two are smart boys, keep your guard up. Surge!"

The Kadabra glanced up as he rubbed a spoon against his forehead, "Yeah, sure, awesome! Watch but don't see!"

Penance let out a weak smile, "Good. You know who to keep safe." He gave a rather brief nod at the hooded mon, "You know what to do if it does happen."

"Of course." Hoods said, "Just be careful out there. We don't want it to happen this early after all."

Penance smirked, "We're not going down." His black skin once more returned as his red eyes flashed with a bit of malice in them, "I promise you that." Paradox began running off as Obsidian stared on. "Hey..." Alex said, "Come on, we have to get to the teleporters. If I'm certain of anything, as long as he's like that, he'll survive."

Obsidian managed a weak node as he allowed himself to be dragged along.

****

Paradox was fast, that was for sure. Probably not as fast as someone who had trained their whole life to be the fastest mon alive, but he still had a good amount of speed. It was in part thanks to his 'father's' blessing he supposed, but that didn't mean he had to like the guy. He ran past some GT members on their way to the walls and of course there gasps and stares. He didn't care, he was here for one purpose anyway. As he ran toward a staircase he gathered the power in his legs and leaped up, grunting as he landed on the stone.

He kept on running up to the top, eagerly looking about as he whistled, "Well well!" He said with a favorable tone, "He's been working hard. Heh, if I just had to walk around like this and promise power here and there then why the f**k was I doing that stupid seeker ♥♥♥♥?" He asked himself as he readied what at first looked to be a water pulse, but soon enough the water began to glow a shade of pink as psychic power began to flow into it, helping to expand the pulse as well.

"YO, OLD MAN!" He shouted out across the battlefield, "EAT THIS!" He held both hands back and thrust them forward. The pulse flew out into the middle of a crowd and quickly splashed against one enemy, but as it opened up a psychic wave poured out that hit into anyone close to the radius. Paradox took in a deep breath and held out his hand as, one by one, pulse after pulse began to form above his head. He smiled even wider as his poured psychic power out into the water balls.

He watched on as he looked for key targets... and then he flicked a finger forward. The psychically charged pulses flung out as they slammed into the crowd of enemies. Psychic waves burst out in force as he burst into laughter. "YOU SEE OLD MAN! YOU HAVE NOTHING ON ME!" He shouted loudly.

Thomas Blake - Fateful decision

"I...I can't believe it," Thomas Blake uttered, in a voice barely above a whisper. While the masses were already running for the nearest exits, trampling upon each other to try to make it to the Network points and out of the deathtrap that was soon to be Gold City, Blake was frozen in shock. He had worked for years to bring his message across the country, and beyond it too. He worked tirelessly, spending many sleepless nights planning and preparing speeches, newspaper excerpts, and flyers. Remembered all that time spent believing in an idea, his idea, that Darkrai was nothing more than a myth, only to see it all snatched away in an instant. Looking back now, he wondered if he ever truly believed what he said. Of course he would say he believed, but he wondered now if he truly believed, or if he said so because deep down, the fear of the truth was just too much for him to bare.

A tug on his arm coming from his young companion Sven the Sandshrew brought him back to the nightmarish reality he now inhabited. "Tom!" Sven yelled again as he pulled on the Hypno's arm to try and snap him out of it. "We have to get out of here, Tom! Everyone's getting outta the city!"

"R-right," Thomas replied softly. He looked around and took in the sights of the many Pokemon fleeing. Yet as he examined more, he saw as a few actually remained, charging forward toward the hordes of Darkrai rather than run away. Even now, even after everything they would see, they still pressed forward. All this time he had bashed the Gold Tribe. He felt beyond foolish now. "We need to help the Gold Tribe!" Thomas suddenly declared to Sven, earning a look of shock and surprise from Sven. "We have to help them evacuate the citizens. Let's head to one of the Network points!"

"Uh...o-ok, Tom!" Sven said, following Thomas as he ran with the crowd toward the points of escape. A thought suddenly occurred to Sven. "Hey, what about Gabe?!" The Sandrew asked Thomas.

"Hopefully Alpha Alliance medics would have brought him to a Network point when...when this happened. He should be alright. Come on, let's go!"

Ten minutes earlier…

A team of two Chanseys were bringing a stretcher to the unconscious body of Gabe the Greninja, while a third Chansey was hunched over his body examining him for injuries. She roamed through his body, checking for scratches and severe bruises. She also checked his pulse and vitals. The two other Chanseys stopped before her, with one of the two speaking to the third. "How is he doing? Any brain damage? Vitals off? Bruises, cuts?"

The third Chansey let go of the Greninja's body, looking up to the other two Chanseys in a somewhat bewildered manner. "Well...no. Not at all," She began, looking back down at the body again and shaking her head. "It doesn't look like there's anything wrong with him at all. No scratches, bruises. No head or brain damage. Vitals are perfect. He seems to be in excellent health. The only problem is that seems to be unconscio-"

Just then, the Greninja's eyes suddenly opened. He looked around, before performing a kip up and landing directly onto his feet. Gabe, or Gabriel, the Greninja dusted himself off, having been lying on the ground for quite a while now, and it accumulated. "Well...naptime's over," He said cheerfully. As he finished dusting himself off, he looked around to see the three Chansey beside him staring at him in surprise. "Hey there," He said to them, with a wave of his hand, his eyes contorting a bit to the formation that appeared to signify him smiling under his tongue.

"H-hello sir, how are you feeling?" One of the Chanseys asked the Greninja.

"I'm great!" He replied gleefully, as he cracked his neck to the left and right, before stretching his arms out above his head. "I just had a nice little nap so I'm feeling pretty good. Ready to get to work! Oh, speaking of which, you ladies wouldn't happen to know where the Network points are, do you?"

"Uhm, yes there are a few, the closest beyond down the main road and off past SEC security point omega to the left. You shouldn't miss it."

The Greninja nodded as he listened to the directions, his hands on his waist as he looked along the path of the directions. "Got it, thanks," He said, before heading toward the direction of the Network points.

"No problem, sir. Uhm… but sir," Another Chansey started after the Greninja. "Don't you wanna get to the ceremony? That's where everyone is right now. Why do you wanna go to the Network points?"

"Well, I have to destroy them," The Greninja replied casually. As he walked down the path again, he suddenly remembered something, turning around to see the alarmed faces of the Chanseys staring back at him. "Oh, thanks for watching out for me while I slept!" He added, before accelerating toward his destination. Before the Chanseys could say anything else, he was out of sight.

A run for the porters

"THIS WAY!" Alex said as he tugged Obsidian's arm. The Weavile wasn't even huffing as he ran along and glanced around as frightened mon even ran away from the porters, "Everyone's panicking! They'll kill themselves like this!" He snapped.

"Don't worry! My father will make sure everyone gets out!" Alex reassured him as he kept up the pace. "As long as we head through we'll arrive in some other town, not sure which one, but it's better than here!" He said.

Obsidian couldn't help but glance a worried glance back at the wall, and that glance caused him to trip up. A Buizel had ended up running into him and both had fall but before Obsidian could even react the Buizel got back up and was running away as fast as he could. "Like I said, we'll kill each other like this!" The Weavile managed to get back on his feet, though he noticed Alex wasn't running anymore. "Alex wha-" He had moved his eyes to regard the sight in front of them and his jaw dropped. He had seen large lines before. He had seen them whenever Penance visited that historian dude in Anatellia, he had even seen lines that large for whenever something new was coming out in the stores. This... this was the master of all those lines. It seemed the whole city was now lining up, albeit not in the most of calm manors.

There were many mon pushing in line, others who were wrestling in the street, and he could even see a trampled body every so often lying in the street. "This won't work." Alex said through his gritted teeth, "We'll need to find another way."

Obsidian blinked, "Alex.. you're his son! You cou-"

Alex quickly placed his hand over Obsidian's mouth as he glanced left and right before leaning in and speaking softly, "Listen Obsidian. You saw what happened with Grett. He was uncorrupted. I knew about Penance's corruption. Sure I never had seen it before, but that doesn't matter now. Anyone could be a agent of Darkrai. We can't trust anyone at this point." He glanced up at Surge and the hooded mon with a wary eye. The Kadabra just gave a friendly wave as the hooded one remained silent. "Can we trust them?"

Obsidian nodded, "Yeah, we can. I know we can."

Alex thought for a moment as he let go of Obsidian's mouth and rubbed his chin, "We can't let anyone know who we are." He said as he gathered the four into a huddle, "Now listen, Darkrai made mistakes sure, and he's here now. If he can get bargaining chips you can damn well bet that he'll do whatever he can to have a bit of control over my father and Penance as well."

"Penance won't let that happen." Obsidian said as he tightened his hands into fists, "And I won't let it happen either. He's taught me a lot."

"Yes, but this is different." Alexandre said, "Lucien agrees with me as well." He crossed his arms and closed his eyes, "We have to make sure no one knows who we are. Until we can reunite with my father or with Penance... that will be the way it has to be." He opened his eyes and looked right at Obsidian, "Do you understand? I have... friends in places, but I'm not even sure if I can trust them after this. I'm hoping I can, for we'll need all the help we can get."

Obsidian was silent for a moment, but he nodded slowly, "I understand. Alright... so what do we do first?"

"Act like normal people. No matter what happens don't tell anyone your real name and we'll just get in line." He smiled a bit, "We're pull through this, I know it. I just hope no one recognizes us. We might want to stay away from any Seekers for now just to be on the safe side." He explained. "Keep your wits and we'll do fine. Trust no one else." He went into the line as the others followed.

"Just keep calm." The hooded mon said, "Keep calm and carry on." He said in a cheery tone. "There is always hope in darkness."

"There has to be, more than ever now." Alexandre said softly.
