I doubt 343'd do that, especially when the target crowds...or really, any crowd, doesn't have much of an interest in the Kinect (though whether or not those same people will use in is questionable, as this time around it's included).

It might be an option, but they'd have to be preeeeety ballsy to make it Kinect-only.

If they did, they'd have to make it a full head better than Halo 4 as they've already lost a lot of respect from that title. I think they'd be better just making Halo 5 a controller game. Less risk of going bankrupt Lol.

Sony's stock is going up, while Microsoft's stock is tumbling down tumbling down tumbling down~

Microsoft really screwed themselves over with this conference.

Edit: It won't be kinect only, did you guys miss the controller?

Let's see...

- No used games without paying an additional fee.
- No backwards compatibility with 360 games
- Spies on you for the movie industry: http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/1...goes-big-brother-will-spy-on-you-for-the-mpaa

Pardon my Swahili, but Microsoft can go f*** itself on this one. Want to play used games? Oh, sorry, used games "hurt" the industry, so we'll have to charge you for it, because surely Call of Duty 1200 isn't killing the industry with this latest entry's "innovation." Want to sell your 360 to get money for this new console, but still want to play your old 360 games? Sorry, our new console can't do that. Oh, and because several sects of the human population are "stealing" movies online, we're going to punish all of you - even if you've never done anything wrong - by using the Kinect system to spy on you, because A SOCIETY WITHOUT PRIVACY IS A SAFE SOCIETY, RITE??

If you want to kill your console department that badly and lose more than half your fan-base, this is the perfect way to go about it. I can't help but admire the genius of it. No, really.

So disappointing, the Xbox 360 was my favorite thing to play on last gen before every company and their grandmother decided to make Halo clone after Call of Duty clone after generic FPS that makes you do stupid crap like follow mission objectives or basically do anything other than mindlessly killing everything in sight like the great FPSs of old used to do.

Sadly, nothing on the Wii U or PS4 has yet to catch my attention either. Unless things change, with the exception of my Nintendo 3DS, I'll stick to PC for this generation. So bummed right now.

NeoGAF and GameFAQs are absolutely hilarious right now - even Microsoft fanboys are up in arms and jumping ship to PS4.

I'm not impressed at all with the Xbox One. It's a media center with gaming capabilities, not a gaming system. The asinine one-activation DRM is an absolute dealbreaker, not interested in Kinect crap, and I'm not a fan of the internet connection requirement, even if it is only once every 24 hours.

Unless things drastically change, I'll be going Wii U/PS4/PC next gen - Wii U for Nintendo exclusives, PS4 for Japanese stuff (Tales, Final Fantasy, etc.), and PC for shooters and the like that I would have normally played on the 360 this gen.

The used game thing does suck. But as for the backwards compatibility? If you have a XBOX360 then it shouldn't be a problem.

Unless, as I've stated, you sold it to get enough money for this console. Which is what I've seen lots of people do before.

But the beauty of Backwards Compatability is that you can sell your old system and use it to reduce the cost of the new one. Generally consumers do that when it comes to a new system.

Ironically, the Xbox One is supposed to be an All-in-One experience...but then if you want to play your 360 games, you have to go to your 360 to play them. Huh.

You'd think this day and age all successors would have at least backwards compatibility for their previous iterations.

Last night's reveal was, to be frank, a complete joke. I see a lot of Wii-U bashing on the internet, but how anyone can even think about bashing the Wii-U with this disaster hitting stores later this year is beyond me. Nintendo, at least, will be able to turn performance around by releasing its heavy-hitter IPs. How Microsoft are going to make this thing worth the time of day...well, this is something I would LOVE to see.

These promised new exclusive IPs are going to have be beyond incredible for me to even consider purchasing this, and given that, historically, the PS3 has been my first port of call for the games I like (mostly JRPGs, which the 360 has a frightening lack of by comparison) I can't see the Xbox One suddenly turning the tables. The lack of backwards compatibility and support for used games is a death sentence in my mind as well. No backwards compatibility severely limits the console for at least a year in my opinion (this has been the case for my 3DS and Vita, both of which I got at launch and didn't buy any exclusives for for about a year due to lack of anything worth playing) and the lack of used games support just turns an already overpriced machine (because I highly doubt this will be affordable at launch) into an even bigger waste of money.

About the only thing I've heard about the Xbox One that I approve of so far is that your Gamer Score is apparently going to be transferrable, and that's something so unbelievably minor it doesn't bear thinking about next to this sleuth of poor decisions that they've made regarding this console...and it's not really a selling point for me either; I have several profiles on my PS3 because I like earning the trophies again, and I sold my 360 almost two years ago; I've long since forgotten my details for it.

Good luck, Microsoft. You're going to need it.

Well, if I had any doubt in my mind, it has been cleared up. Xbox One is a poor excuse for Microsoft trying to do too much and be toooooo clever.
A entertainment system that you can watch TV on? Awesome, what do I use the TV for again?
Can only install my game once onto my system, so if my console were to break or my account get deleted, I have to pay a free? Gee, thanks.
No backwards comparability? We all know how I feel about systems that kill backwards comparability.

I know I am not a fan of Microsoft's gaming systems, but even the long time fans are jumping ship, so I don't really need to say anything, do I?

Xbox One is such a terrible name, sounds like they took 359 steps backwards. That sounds like it would be the name for the first console.

And my little brother says he thinks it looks like a VCR and I honestly agree. That thing looks hideous in my opinion.

It seems more of a entertainment system, than a gaming console. I don't want an entertainment system, I want a gaming system. I don't see the point of it being connected to my TV when I can just turn on my cable box. All of the feature on it seem really gimmicky and distracting. Why do I need to be on Skype and watch TV at the same time? Why do I also need to have music on to? And browse the internet? IS that's what entertainment is gonna be like? I just want to be able to do one thing at once and not multiple things. That just seems like too much. I mean sure I look at my DS and computer while watching TV but that's different. It's usually only when I'm not interested in the program on.

And also no used games and having to connect to the Internet every 24 hours are also two put-offs for me. Want to borrow a friends game? Sorry no can do, you have to buy another copy before that. What's the point of that? I guess that mean Gamestop won't be selling used Xbox One games then. Plus no backward compatibility is another set-up. There's at least 30 360 games at home and we can't play either of them on the One? Well there's no point in getting rid of the 360 then.

Overall based on the reveal, I'm not getting a Xbox One. I'll be going for either PS4 , PC, or Wii U this time.

I'm upset. I really enjoy the Halo titles and universe, but I just can't see myself going through all those hoops just to get to one exclusive. 15 exclusive titles, with 8 of them being original IP, that seems nice on the surface, but how long will these titles truly remain exclusive? I mean I can list of over a dozen examples of games that were exclusive to start and then eventually got a port to somewhere else. As a fairly casual gamer, I wasn't even upset with the conference itself. Halo Tv Series? Cool! A Kinect that isn't a beta test? mmkay. New Forza? Awesome! Call of Duty: I Swear I'm not a Modern Warfare Title. Dogs are cool. Controller with a what looks like a better D-pad. Needed.

It's all the stuff that wasn't said at the conferance that flew me up a wall. I was almost was about to say "you know what? I could of been wrong, maybe the new Xbox might be worth it."

I mean seriously? No backwards compatibility? That smells like trouble for the get go. I can just bet, that if the Xbox One doesn't sell so hot, they will cut out Xbox 360 Live support and Cloud Service just to get people on the bandwagon.

A Used Game Fee? I mean, sure right, game developers deserve their money. I can understand that. Is that where the money is going to though? Is the money going straight to Microsoft? Microsoft hasn't exactly been the most friendly when it comes to developers before...

Having to Install all your Games? I think Youtube Reviewer Angry Joe said it best when he said that this basically loses the biggest advantage a console has over a PC in the first place...The right to be able to share the disc with your friends.

The sad thing is, I can totally see developers flocking to Xbox if that Used Game Fee goes directly to them. I mean, EA has basically gone to bed with them.

One should not sell one's previous console until one knows the ins-and-outs of the next generation. Who the heck sells their consoles to buy the next one before it's even on the shelf?

If you sell your last gen console for the next when it does come out, for example XB360 for XBOne, then you do so knowing full-well what you're in for. No Backward compatibility. And that's your fault, not Microsoft's.

I'm with many of you in that I will not even consider getting an Xbox One due to the attack on the used game market.

That's not what we're getting at. We're not saying that people might assume there is BC and be disappointed when they find out that there isn't. We're saying that people often sell their systems solely for lowering the price of the next one, because usually they Backwards compatibility and it would be no problem. For instance, this is what happened with the Gamecube to the Wii, the Xbox to the Xbox 360, the PS to the PS2 to the early PS3...and even the DS to the 3DS and the Gameboy to the DS. It seems like we're taking a step backwards in this perspective this generation, with Nintendo's 8th gen consoles being the only ones to do it. Heck, a lot of people do this because they can't otherwise buy these systems.

Not to mention that having two Xbox systems in the same room kinda defeats the purpose of Xbox's all-in-one appeal. It's supposed to be a multimedia device, toting that it would be the only device you would need in the room, but ironically enough, the one thing you would have to switch from the One to do is play games. This may seem minor, but seeing how much larger the 360's library will be than the One's for the first couple of years...it could be pretty inconvenient for the average user, especially since those same users probably won't be using it for TV, looking at the popularity of that same feature on the 360.

On a relevant note:

It seems like MS hasn't even considered enough that large sections of the games industry are based on the existence of pre-owned games and trade-ins. Without the prospect of a trade-in, I wouldn't have taken a gamble on half the games I've bought for my 360 and I also wouldn't have bought as many games because I wouldn't have the money from ones I've previously sold. This will also destroy various pre-owned specialist stores and cause more pressure for games to succeed as sales will drop overall with no trade-ins available (in practice, big games get sequel after sequel, new IPs will struggle to get in).

Basically, it doesn't look promising from what we've seen and I'll need some really special games or actually positive features of the console to fix this or the PS4 wins. Ultimately, I think I'll just stick to my 3DS and buying Fifa on my 360 every year for a while.

Edit: I've just read that you can still trade-in games by deactivating your license for the game, which can then be activated by the second purchaser (it isn't established whether the second person will need to pay a fee yet) so I'm more happy about it now.

As a loyal xbox fan/player over the last few years I gotta say im hugely disappointed with micosoft..

Xbox (n)one Suks, they really messed up. Trying to market to a broader audience, no one who takes games seriously want to watch TV or cares about TV when playing games. voice commands never work right, that slide and swoop crap isnt something i'd use... What were they thinking, the only good thing about the thing is its processing power to run better games... the really screwed the pooch on this one, i've been a loyal 360 fan for years, but even i'm probably going to get a ps4, the only reason i might get xbox one is for the 15 exclusives they promised, but ill wait atleast a year or so before i buy

Clever. I like it.

I'm not really sure what sort of reaction Microsoft was expecting when they sat down and discussed all of the changes they wanted to make with the new system. Did they really think people would have applauded at the news of no backward compatibility and pre-used game fees?

Since the redesign of the 360 in 2010 (am I right?), they've had more than enough time to really build something that could be deemed a worthy successor. Instead, they take all these missteps and turn their attention towards entertainment (TVTVTVTVTVSPORTSSPORTSSPORTSSPORTSTVTVTV) rather than focus on what the system was always about, video games. It's even lol worthy that when shedding light on the new Call of Duty, they had to spend time actually praising the introduction of a dog companion like it was some sort of revolutionary stuff.

From all the years of speculation and build up, to say the XBox One is a disappointment is an understatement. It also doesn't help that the new system looks ugly. :|

This was the most frustrating console reveal I have ever seen. It only caused frustration for me and I cannot count how many things are wrong with the system. I'm probably getting a PS4 instead if I want multi-plats that aren't coming to PC.
