"You couldn't get away!"

>:( >:( >:( Possibly the most frustrating mechanic in the entire game!! Especially since you lose a turn not getting away...

(It's especially insulting when the wild encounter knocks out your Pokemon, and then you get to flee...Hmph!)

A pet peeve coming on the top of my head is that you're only restricted to use the circle pad to move while playing Gen 7.

Don't get me wrong, I love the circle pad but I get so scared that my circle pad is going to fall off due to using it so frequently that I want to use the cross to give it a "break"
Given that you can move in virtually any direction/angle in Generation VII, and that there's only so many buttons available on the 3DS, and that some of those had to be reassigned for other uses, there is some logic as to why you can only use the circle pad to walk. Then again, a lot of things in the Pokémon games don't make much sense to begin with, though.

The big thing that really peeves me about any of the mainline Pokémon games is that the RNG system seems to be heavily biased in favor of NPC trainers during battles, especially with moves that inflict status and suffering from status conditions in battle.
Example: When any of my Pokémon get confused, they attack themselves much more often than the advertised 50% rate, yet when I inflict confusion on opponents, they rarely hit themselves before the effect wears off.

Example 2: With paralysis, when a Pokémon I'm fielding gets paralyzed, it'll go into full paralysis more frequently than opponents that my Pokémon paralyze.

Example 3: Though this isn't necessarily limited to trainer battles, whenever I use multi-strike moves like Fury Attack or moves like Wrap in Generation I, those moves usually only hit two times for me, yet when opponents use them, more often than not they'll hit at least three times, and frequently at the maximum hits possible (five).

Yes, very true and very frustrating. I always find my Pokemon missing when it counts and the opponent gets a critical right when the odds are in my favor.

There are plenty of ways of making the game harder without having to bias the RNG. If they're concerned about difficulty, they should give us higher level trainers, not an unfair system for moves with random effects.

Steel-Types resisting Ghost and Dark before Gen VI. It seems pretty arbitrary, and made the Steel Type somewhat overpowered...

...Or maybe I'm just bitter after having to fight a Steel-Type specialist immediately followed by two four six Pawniards with my glaringly Steel-ineffective Black 2 team. >:| (Another pet peeve - the fact that, between those two battles, I interact with both my True-Neutral scientist acquaintance who has a vested interest in how my Pokemon perform and my enforcer-of-justice childhood friend, and yet nobody bothers to do the whole "NPC-magically-heals-your-Pokemon" thing. THANKS A LOT, GUYS)

YES im so glad this thread exists. I was going to make a similar thread until i saw this.

Once while wondertrading, I got 3 mons whom I dislike in a row: Furfrou, Carbrink, and ALOLAN Meowth. Getting the ALOLAN Meowth was the worst of the 3. That stupid smug look on its face makes it seem like its purposely trolling me or something. It's better than getting a gazillion Wingull or Magikarp, but there is still no way I'm ever going to use some fucking smug assdick and his ugly evo. I think those Alolan douchewagons may be my least favourite evo line in the games.

That's all I have, but I feel there is another one I forgot and I'm planning to post it here too.

Edit: No wait, I remembered. My Absol in UM is a fucking baws. With Super luck and Scope lens, he crits nearly all the time. Even X scissor crits a lot. However, he. Dies. To. Fucking. EVERYTHING. Especially if it can hit him super effectively. I so can't wait to gt his mega stone.

I hate that Gamefreak implements something new just to forget it the next gen
- Gen 2 and 4 introduced evolutions to older Pokemon and Gen 6 gave older Pokemon relevance by making them Mega Evolve. There is so great fanart for Evolutions and Mega's GF should really consider what designers this communities have. For example Farfetche'd Evolution Designs are all over the internet. Let the community interact with the games pls. I am positive most of the designer would not even want money for their great design and just would be very proud their designs made it into main series games

I hate how little variety there was in typing in Kanto. Poison on everything, rock/ground, normal/flying, water/ice, grass/poison. one line of dragon types and one line of ghost types.

Also I want a Mega Delibird

Woah, guy, no need to get hysterical!

The PSS was indeed a simple way to connect online, which I appreciate, and I feel that there are indeed ways that the Festival Plaza can be improved, I feel, and I'm not being a judge, nor trying to be, but in my mind, you're judging the Plaza a bit too harshly.

I like how you can interact with other people and build a place that'll help you with training your Pokemon, such as the bouncy castle or the restaurant, as well as the fun commodities such as the haunted house or the lottery. The missions you can participate in are a good way to pass the time, and the game seems to never run out of the tickets used to activate them, so you can do it virtually as much as you want with no hassle. The Battle Spot and Trading functionality also are pretty good.

...Except for one humongous flaw, which is another one of my pet peeves in the series.

In Gen VII GTS, you can no longer just type what you want in the description for a deposited Pokemon; it gives a predetermined set of descriptions to use. This of course, would be fine...IF THEY WEREN'T SO ******* VAGUE!! Looking at sentences like, "I need a Pokemon for my adventure," or "This Pokemon is very special," does Game Freak honestly know what people trade on the GTS? Surely they would know there'd be more depth to the system than just, "I give you Pokemon, you give me Pokemon. It is done. Have nice day." Really gets me in the part of my body that wishes Game Freak would stop making stupid mistakes like these. They were already good with banning the bad words in Gen VI up to now; why did they feel they needed to go further??

Rant over.

In my Egglocke, my Roselia fucking died on the way to the Water trial. And he was my counter for that. Or one of my conters just in case something went wrong. I mean yeah, I have a Grotle and a Farfetch'd with Leaf blade and a Mothim with Hidden power Grass, but DAMN I wanted to at least evolve my Roselia in my run before he dies.

"saving a lot of data..."

- Definitely, particularly for all Gen IV and V games. Both generations also share the nurse's slow healing problem.

- People who do not know how to use decent/great Pokemon.

- Opponent's Pokemon with the Sturdy ability (from Gen V and beyond), unless I have the Pokemon like Haxorus to nullify the said Ability.

- slow frame rate, just eff no. Hence all Gen III and including the Kanto remakes, are total babes.

- Excessive appearances of old Pokémon in a new generations. Like man, you had your spotlight already, why are you haunting us? GSC, XY and SM/USUM are the worse offenders. It should be noted that remakes like ORAS and generations that introduces new evolution family a la Happiny for the Chansey line in DPt are exempted.

- New Pokémon not showcased enough in their debut generation. GSC, again, are the worse offenders. I recall a good friend telling me that he thought Dunsparce was an extra additional Pokémon for FRLG (think Gen 3.5 mon) upon encounter.

My pet peeves are:

Charizard
Almost everything about Gen I
Mythical Pokémon
Those stupid abilities starters are stuck with
Gen VII giving minimal recognition to the Ice type
