Closed minded people are still people. It's surprising, but not impossible to change some. I find it plausible.

y u no post here people?

I have a question to get things going again... How do you feel about a fluid sexuality? Do you think it's possible for someone's sexuality to change, or even be completely fluid? (Meaning that it changes very frequently.)

Also, just for fun: What do you think about people who fall in love with things other than humans? Is it real love? Should they be allowed to marry it?

Sexuality is a fluid thing. I don't believe it "changes" like you can't turn people gay etc. but.. I understand what I mean!

Also I don't know if you guys have heard about how the Miss Universe Pageant is allowing transgender contestants!
It's thanks to Jenna Talackova who was disqualified when she was found to have been born as the incorrect sex and had surgery to correct her body. She wouldn't stand for that and a legal fight ensued and they're changing the rules to allow transgendered women to enter. Is this good or is this good?

I don't think sexuality can be fluid, I believe that if one year you fancy men and the next you fancy women you are bi, basically. However people often label themselves with the sex they are dating, especially if when in a relationship they don't look at others sexually anymore.

I think when people fall in love with objects/animals its confusing the different kinds of love. Love can mean many things and I think with some people the distinctions blur a bit - I love chocolate but I don't want to marry it, I love animals but I don't do that either o_o. Sometimes I think many people resort to this due to loneliness, or not knowing how to deal with other people :/ I haven't met anyone who loves an non-person mind.

I wish that talking hairpiece Donald Trump had been okay with this just because he was okay with this and not because he feared getting a lot of bad publicity. But hey, the fact that he caved means that the public cares enough to give him crap over doing something stupid like banning trans contestants.

Of course the topic of beauty pageants opens a whole other discussion on gender entirely.

What if the men you fancied that year were all very feminine and most of the time you are attracted to women? Just trying to point out that there's a lot of variables that go into attraction so unless you want to claim that "everyone is at least a little bi" (which I think is a statement with separate issues) I would say you're oversimplifying sexuality. I totally think it's possible for someone's sexuality to change. Not in the "today I think I'm going to be gay" kind of way, but gradually and probably not consciously.

I don't mean this as an attack on you. I'm just trying to get at why I feel the way I do.

If you're attracted to feminine men as well as women you are still bisexual though, unless you're not finding them sexually attractive - just noticing good looking feminine men more. With love and things coming in it gets all confusing and yes there are lots of variations on it.

I put sexuality down to sexual attraction though, which I would say is not fluid, just has a lot of different grays along the scale. I think people change what they identify as simply because we're used to such rigid terminology, rather than them actually changing themselves.

Well, I find the topic of falling in love with a non-human to be somewhat unusual, but I guess love is love. The thing about marrying something that cannot give consent however is a touchy subject, but at the same time, if somebody were to marry his or her cat, it's not like the cat would even know about it nor give a single damn about it.

There's a person I sometimes talk to on the internet who's a zoophile, and really, aside from the fact he really, really loves cats, if you get my drift, he's a perfectly normal guy and great to talk to. What I can tell from what he says is that the love is just as with any other form of sexuality, whether it be homosexuality, bisexuality, or pansexuality, love is love, and there's no need to keep "real" love inherently anthropocentric as the contrary is already known to be possible.

Just an FYI, while he may absolutely love cats, he does not have "giggety time" with them, because that would likely be bad for both the cat and his criminal record.

As for the fluid sexuality thing, I'd say, it can be fluid, but it's hard to say such changes occur within the course of a few days. I still can't randomly wake up in the morning and say to myself: "I am going to like boobs today!" while actually being genuine about it.

As for the question of attraction to other objects or animals, I think just like any love that's their business and nobody else really has a right to an "opinion" on it. But as for marriage.. well in the case of inanimate objects I do think it's rather pointless and would be hell to manage in a legal sense, so I would say no to that merely for logistical reasons.. and as for animals, I'd be against marriage (and sex) simply because there is no definite way to tell whether an animal would consent to such things. The onl law that should apply to love should deal with consent, and there's just no way to get it.

It's the rigid terminology you're using in describing my hypothetical-someone as bisexual which is getting me confused. I suppose that, technically, if you found yourself attracted to someone who was male and someone who was female that you would be bisexual, but I think that kind of negates the specifics of a person's attraction. To me, an attraction to women and also to strictly feminine men isn't the same thing as an attraction to men and women.

Okay, I'll stop saying "someone" 'cuz I'm mostly just using myself as an example. I'm attracted to feminine guys, guys who crossdress, etc., but not to more masculine men (mostly - if I get to know someone that can affect how I feel). At the same time I'm generally attracted to women regardless of how feminine or masculine they are, and to people who are androgynous. I don't think 'bisexual' really captures my sexuality and for someone to call me that would feel a bit, I dunno... disrespectful? Can't think of the right word at the moment.

Overgeneralised? Is that the word you were looking for?

I'd say that's bisexual and you just have your preferences inside of that spectrum. xD Kind of like how heterosexuals can prefer masculine or feminine as well, but they're still just "heterosexual". There's not always a name for the certain kinks / preferences. Kinda like how I'm more into feminine guys, and girls that are more boyish, but I can also go based on personality with girls because I'm primarily more into them in general. There's no name for that, it's just my prefs. And if there is a name, that's going too far. XD;

I asked because I don't think there really is anything else you can use to describe me other than fluid. Sometimes I'm straight, sometimes I'm gay. It just changes, usually over the course of a few months.

Example(Using Kinsey Scale):
(0 Before this point.) June(1) - July(6) - August(6) - September(5) - October(3) - November(3) - December(1) - January(2) - February(4) - March(6) - April(2)

That's more or less how it went for me this last year. Although, throughout this entire thing, I've always liked trans girls more than guys or girls, this is just the race for 2nd place. lol

I've noticed that I feel the most comfortable when I'm around a 4-5, and I wish I could just pick either straight, bi, or gay and have it actually be true (and I have been until now, because I didn't know what else to call myself) but in reality, in a couple months it won't be.

Well I think that it shouldn't really matter what you call yourself and instead not focus on any labeling. It it does really shift all the time with you, then its best not to associate yourself with "straight" or "gay" or even "bi," if you feel that last one doesn't sit well with you.

It also seems you're gayest in the Fall and Spring. You're an Equinox Queer!

I know you want to, but I suggest you don't just put a label on it. Would you rather label yourself as "gay" just have a girl catch your eye and vice versa or would you rather just let it be and like who you like, lady or gentleman? (Or lady who wants to be a gentleman, etc.)

Labels are very trivial in the grand scheme of things. They could mean to anything to anyone.

Could somebody explain to me the Kinsey Scale? The first time I heard of it was on Revenge last week when one of the characters described himself as "about a 3 on the Kinsey Scale" shortly before having sex with another man, and now we're using it here lol. Is it just a straightforward 'on a scale of 1-6 this is how homosexual you are' or is it more intricate than that?

0 = 100% Straight
6 = 100% Gay
1-5 = Varying degrees of bisexuality.
a 1 or 5 could also be considered just straight or gay, as you probably wouldn't find the same sex attractive enough to actually date, if you're that close to being straight (or vice versa for being gay). A 2 or 4 would be bisexual, with a preference one way or the other... and 3 would mean you find both genders completely equally attractive.

(We've used it in this thread like... dozens of times, how did you never see it? lol)

Wait seriously? When have we used it in this thread before? I read ALL the posts..... idk, the thread's been going for nearly a year. Maybe I've forgotten, my memory isn't what it once was :P *shakes cane*

I actually like that. It's good to have a number value to attach to it. I can now say that I'm a big ol' 6.

As to your original question about fluid sexuality; I read a thing once (I do believe I've mentioned this before) that said that generally female sexuality is more fluid while males remain more stagnant. So you could be some kind of special, QK! As for me, my sexuality is so definite that cave men have carved it into a stone tablet somewhere (the diagram is both pornographic and hilarious :P).

"Being gay isn't a choice!" "Well for guys it's not."

You know what's funny? Both me and my friend Jordan are both very set in our sexuality (Me homosexual and he heterosexual.) But for some cosmic reason, I'm the ladies man and he's the guy every gay guy wants.

wat.

Not even kidding. I'm pretty flirtatious in the sense where I'm charismatically charming and "fake hit-on" people; predominantly girls. I have so many lady aquantices it's ridiculous, and people have told me that girls flirt with me all the time because of this. Jordan's admirers are always women who are too shy to tell him, or his friends who are gay. The girl he likes currently even put him in a position of "gay best friend" during the time she was chasing after another guy.

Not related but pretty funny; although Jordan doesn't think as much. XD;

Hahahaha that's hilarious, though also quite sad if you take into account the missed opportunities for you both. Are you one of the gay guys who wants him? :P

I would still describe this as Bi, in a 'you like peepees and front bottoms occasionally' kind of way. Finding someone attractive and being sexually attracted to them can be different and separate things, but as someone previously said if you don't like labels/find it confusing to give yourself one then by all means don't.

Baha, tbh you should just be supersexual :P That sounds like a good term.

I know so many heterosexual people like this >< Also I happen to dance with my best (female) friend rather flirticiously, and sometimes we act like a married couple - her boyfriends worry a bit XD (One of her boyfriends even fancied me, awkward).
