Plot

In the modern day life, many things go unnoticed through out the world. These things are all cleverly concealed, holding secrets of the planet. Secrets that are only revealed to the ones who have the power TO reveal them. The every day world remains oblivious to the underlying society concealed by magic and mystery. This society consists of the wonder that normal humans only dream about. A world filled with wonders that seem to only exist in fairy tales. This world is inhabited by humans who have found ways to harness their life energy to do spectacular things such as magic and skills. The ways to use this life energy were categorized by the technique and ritual they were utilized. These categories of usage were Knights, Wizards, Rangers, Ninjas, Samurai, Brawler, Alchemists, and many more smaller unclassified groups. Humans who learned to harness their energy to perform the skills specific to their grouping are sent at a young age to the four schools of battle, placed all over the world. These schools are Lancaster - in the green fields of England, Darkhorn - In the frozen Tundra in Nothern Canada, Riomahri - in the dense humid jungles of South America, and Sahri - located in the dry deserts of Africa. Each of these schools pride themselves on how well they raise their students who grow up to carry covert missions which maintain the peace in the world without the knowledge of average humans. At these schools, the students learn to hone their abilities, and how to properly cover their weaknesses and amplify their strengths in order to maintain the balance of the planet. To do so, they are sent on various missions to prove team work and strength and build themselves. But the schools do not teach just to maintain peace...they teach also in order to compete. In times of peace, the four schools of battle meet for the unique competition of pitting their best students against each other in friendly fighting tournaments where high powered authoritative figures come to see which school is producing the best fighters. The students of these schools are always training and working to prove themselves to their peers and elders alike. Although lately... Darkhorn has been rather reclusive and quiet... it seems like something is astir in the cold skies over the tundra... This is where you come in!

Your Role
You are a first year student at Lancaster: School for battle. (I know your age can vary, but not everyone gains knowledge of their strength at the same age.) It is a college like atmosphere, where you attend daily classes while learning new techniques and making your current ones stronger. Missions are issued to the students in teams of 4 and usually consist of simple tasks such as monster extermination...usually... There will also be various battle exams which you will be given through the years that i will issue randomly. And of course, Final Exams which consist of fighting tournaments in the Colosseum. Aside from this being a school for battle, it is much like a typical school. The classes are on schedules and meet in specified locations or class rooms. Typical high school rules apply, such as no part time jobs and no fighting without teacher consent. There will be no uniform until the inner school championships occur between the 4 schools of battle, where each school will wear separate uniforms. The details of their appearance will be given when the time is right.

Professions

Knight
Knights call their life energy "Vitality". The knight is generally the least conservative about using life energy. Though they make up for it with the weapons they wield. Their weapons usually consist of, two hand broad swords, Lance/Spear, or shield and sword as the most common. Despite their name, knights do not appear like normal knights of mythology. Most have evolved beyond the typical appearance and wear thin armor to not hinder movements, as opposed to the clumsy clunky armor of the far past. Along with the many different kinds of weapons, knights have many different levels of 'Vitality' usage. Aside from the basic, lower magic-giant weapon wielding knights, there are other sub categories of Knight. The different classifications of a knight are Rune Knight, which are knights with VERY specific magic spells branded into their weapons. Each weapon can only hold a specific amount of Runes and more powerful Runes take up more space. There are also Dragon Knights who are bonded with a dragon at birth. The individual's battle strengths are never very strong. But once they achieve the final stage power where they combine with their dragon, their power increases exponentially. But this is a skill for advanced Dragon Knights only. Dragons grow to large sizes but the average size for a dragon our age is about shoulder high max. A dragon normally does not appear until it is summoned.

Wizard/Witch
Clearly the best at utilizing their life energy which they call 'Essence'. The Wizards use their Essence to control and manipulate the forces of nature to their will. They cast these spells with long chants and verses which correlate directly to the power of the spell. Wizards' abilities can be split into the magics of healing magic, which obviously heals. Dark Magic, which is dangerously damaging magic which consume large amounts of time and chants to unleash. And Elemental Magic which is the harnessing the natures energy and having control over the elements (Water, Fire, Lightning, Wind, Earth, Ice) though not all elemental spells are offensively oriented. Beginning Wizards learn to use two of these at an early age, and can mix the two but learn more and more elements until they are able to combine all elements to form Dark Magic. Dark Magic cannot be safely obtained without first being able to harness all 6 elements. The Wizard always carries a catalyst which increases the power of their spells and can be considered their weapon. These catalysts consist of a large array of items, usually ones containing sentimental value towards its user.(Necklace, Ring, Wand, small dagger, etc)

Ranger
The Rangers, who call their energy 'Soul' are of the few battlers who are restricted to certain weapons. These fighters tend to be mediocre at mid level magics of their element but have impeccable aim with their weapons. They use their element to amplify their choice of shooting style though their magic tends to become weaker as their shooting distance increases. There are 3 types of Ranger. Crossbow, Bow, and Sniper. Crossbow tend to have moderately powerful magic that they pack into small arrows that fire very quickly, but tend to be inaccurate. Bow have the mediocre abilities of both worlds, knowing lots but mastering none, carrying a moderately sized bow and arrow and having mediocre magic ability. They have quickly become the least popular choice among rangers. Snipers carry large over sized bows and rarely are seen in the heart of the battle field. They have small amounts of 'Sou'l at their disposal, for the majority of them spent most of their childhood learning to carefully aim their massive bow and arrow to hit targets over 300 meters away.

Ninja
The ninja, who call their energy 'Chakra', are the mediocre battlers of the Lancaster community. They are not very physically powerful, and also possess weak grasp of elemental attacks. The ninja rarely has an elemental affinity and uses a very weak, wide variety of elemental techniques, and are mostly for sneaking around and gathering information. This being said, they aren't to be taken lightly in a fight. Their nimble bodies and quick thinking often give them an edge over their opponents one on one and in groups. The ninja often carries an assortment of the given tools but usually not all. Shurikens, Kunai, ninja sword, Nunchaku, Flail, smoke bombs, floor spikes, small grade explosives.

Samurai
The Samurai, who know their energy as 'Aura' are people who have harnessed their energy and put it towards their swords, style, and technique. They can channel their energy into their blades and deal fast, lethal blows. The Samurai are truly feared on account of the fact that they are so hard to read in battle. No two samurai are ever alike and their techniques can range from long range to short range depending on how they manipulate their weapons. Samurai equipment always consists of a katana. The only real variable is if they decide to use two katana or just one.

Brawler
Brawlers know their energy as 'Rage'. When it comes to raw strength and determination, they are second to none. They have learned to train their bodies so that their muscle mass does not bulge, giving most of them the appearance of harmless humans. They carry no weapons and do not believe in using instruments to defeat their foes. Instead, they channel different variances of 'Rage' into their blows for dealing brutal and often lethal blows to any opponent. With their movements always varying in speeds, Brawlers also have many different forms of fighting to use. Most make it a priority to learn many different types of martial arts in order to not have their movements easily read. A Brawler's battle style more often than not is reflected by their elemental affinity. They use their elements in combination with their punches and kicks, making sure no foe ever escapes without regretting having met them in the first place.

*If you have a different subclass you would like to add, PM me and ask or place it in your application for debate*

Faculty

(more faculty will appear as the RP progresses)

The Dean: A slim older man, appearing to be around age 70. His hair has a grayed whispy look to it and is completely combed back. His eyes are cold and black but still have a gentle appearance to them. He wears a simple black tuxedo with bow tie, and leans most of his weight on a thin black cane in front of him. He runs the school with no questions asked. He is the absolute last word on any disagreement. It is known that he was once a great fighter, but nothing is known about his style or exactly how strong he is.

Kiki Kiribayashi (Professor Kiki): The Elemental Control teacher of any level. She is a small and busy woman, barely reaching 5 feet tall. She has deep purple hair that is drawn back into small pig tails with small strands of hair drooping over her forehead which could scarcely be called 'bangs'. She wears large thick round glasses and has fair skin with large eyes with purple irises. When teaching she wears a long drooping sorceress' gown which fits her slim figure. She has no upper body strength, but she definitely makes up for her lack of strength with her skill in the various magics. She is a master of elemental magics and very accomplished in the healing and dark arts. Her Catalyst is a small diary she carries with her at all times but she rarely taps into its power to use her spells. Professor Kiki teaches through a trial and error technique. Meaning most of her students leave class every day, bruised, beaten, or charred to a crisp. She has a firm belief that "if you want to learn to fire at a battle target. you should be battling." and "If you want to learn a defense spell, you should learn by defending against big spells" She is small but one of the roughest teachers on campus.

Bardok Stonehide (Professor Stonehide or Bardok Sensei): A large muscular man, reaching at least 6'5. He is the teacher of all Close Combat and defense courses. He has short cut spiked brown hair that leads into rugged side burns that cut down his face. To teach he always wears a green tank top with camouflage pants and black combat boots. Your typical drill sergeant look. Bardok is a Brawler and master of hand to hand combat and his particular weapon of choice is a simple pair of brass knuckles that he wears on his fists. He can expel large amounts of 'Rage' into these knuckles and punch with enough force to split the Earth. His raw strength isn't rivaled by any other faculty member. He has a tendency to pick favorites in his classes and likes to shut down cocky fighters by having them perform impossible tasks in front of the entire class, to knock them down a peg. It is sometimes said that he can repel weaponry just by punching through the air. Although he is a brawler, he is exceptionally trained in knowledge about every sort of close ranged weapon and is never to be joked with or taken lightly.

Heidi Star (Professor Star): The teacher of all the Bow and Arrow related classes. She is a well known Sniper through out the land. She is a medium height woman, reaching 5'8 and very slender with a relatively small bust. She has strawberry blond hair that reaches down to her mid back. The clothes she wears are often free flowing loose garments such as silk shirts and skirts but her elegance is always thrown off by the massive brown leather arm guard on her left arm. A very beautiful woman, *usually the male student's favorite female teacher* she is well versed in the ways of every projectile weapon possible. Her aim is accurate within 1mm of any given target from up to 400meters away. It is sometimes said that no movement can escape her eyes. Compared to other faculty members she is also the nicest teacher. She doesn't beat her students to teach them, but rather enforces their abilities and recognizes strengths about their styles and exploits them to further their abilities. Although she does carry a bow around with her, she does not fire actual arrows. She has advanced her magic to the point where she can form arrows from magic and shoot them in any element she wishes.

Name: Shin Saitoshi
Mission Codename: Snowblind
Gender: Male
Age: 17

Profession: Rune Knight
Primary Weapon: A unique weapon to the Saitoshi family, he calls it, Avenger. A bulky white trimmed dark blue shield with a large spherical engraving on the center. On Shin's command, he can release hidden spring loaded thick broadsword blade from the top of the shield and use it while its connected to the shield. Being a Rune Knight, he has 3 runes in total on his weapon, with space for roughly 3 more.

Elemental Affinity: Ice

Description: Shin is an averagely built kid with an overall lean but solid figure. He stands about 5'10 with softly tanned Caucasian skin. His hair is dominantly blond with dark brown streaks placed in random spaces and is over all short but droops to cover his eyes and ears. He has soft and gentle dark blue eyes and often wears a somewhat troubled facial expression. He is a generally attractive boy overall. He wears a slim fitting hooded long sleeve brown shirt with a small v-neck in the center. On his right arm, the sleeve is cut off at the elbow, marking the point where Avenger rises to on his arm. The shirt hangs over the top of a dark blue pair of torn jeans that are held up by a brown cloth belt. For shoes he wears a beat up pair of brown and white tennis shoes.

Personality: Shin is a generally confident boy in his and his weapon's strength as a knight should be. He is a gentle spoken boy who enjoys making friends and grows attached to them quickly. He wont necessarily take charge in a leadership roll but he also wont let it go ignored. He is a highly intelligent boy in both battle and academics although he is very modest about both of them. Shin is also very polite, acting to the knight code best he can, and for the most part an honest example of a good knight. In the heat of battle, it is no difference. He puts the team before himself, using his Ice to make sure nothing harms his comrades. When facing danger so his comrades don't have to, he can be very stubborn and rarely doesn't get his way. That aside, he is an intelligent fighter with keen battle instincts.

Techniques:

Frigid North
Grade B
Using the large 'Ice Protection' rune on the front of his shield, Shin creates a powerful barrier that can protect multiple people, his most powerful spell.

Frost Bite
Grade C
Using the 'Freeze' rune on the top half of the blade, the air around the blade of Avenger is condensed to super cold temperatures, instantly freezing anything that comes within 2 inches of the blade.

Ice Age
Grade C
When Avenger's blade is released, the Freeze and Ice Protection Rune briefly slide against each other. When this reaction occurs, Shin combines the two runes to create a frozen winter wasteland that gives him the terrain battle advantage.

Hail Storm

Grade B
Using the 'Frozen Shard' rune on the bottom half of Avenger's blade, Shin fires a barrage of sharp frozen ice spears.

History: Shin comes from a long line of Blacksmith/Knights known for their ability to create unique and powerful weapons. Shin lead a normal life most kids would growing up with gifted parents. He went to school, trained every day, and was an all around good kid. At the age of 10 he was given the incredibly heavy, Avenger to begin to train with. Training at this age was essential so he would be able to wield the incredibly heavy weapon before the student exited their teens. For 7 years, Shin trained with Avenger every day, learning to master it and use it with ease. 1 month after his 17th birthday, Shin was finally able to swing Avenger like a normal sword and had also learned to harness his Ice element. The next step was obviously, just as his parents had done... It was time to enroll in Lancaster.

Additional Information: Shin is very skilled with blacksmithing, metal repair, and weaponry in general. He wont talk about it at all, but he can usually fix any sort of weapon he lays his hands on or create new ones.

Roleplaying Example: I wrote it

Name: Emil Lancaster
Gender:Male
Mission Codename:Red Baron
Age:18

Profession: Dragon Knight
Primary Weapon: Dual Hammers. They have been in the Lancaster family for generations, although not many have been able to wield them properly. One is called Redgrave, and the other Black Death. Redgrave is a silver hammer with red fabric wrapped up and down the handle(excluding three inches and capped with gold), and through the middle of the bludgeon area. About three inches of it are not covered, but capped with a gold. As for Black Death it is exactly the same only with black fabric, and silver capping. They are said to evolve, once Emil's mind evolves and his power, so do the hammers.

Elemental Affinity: Earth
Description: Built with a natural light frame, Emil has always been slim. His body was built for the extreme and meant to be pushed past the limits. His long muscular legs are built for running, and his arms for lifting. His face has distinct features, you wouldn't mix up his face for someone else's. Standing at 6'8" he towers of a lot of people so they find him intimidating. His skin is a rather pale color that makes him look sickly all the time. His hair is medium length(down to neck) light brown. As for attire he has a pair of really tight black jeans. As for his torso area, he wears two things. One is a black t-shirt with a bunch of different colored skulls on it. The skulls are of bright neon colors such as light green, hot pink.. colors like that. Over that he wears a roomy lime green hoodie with a black logo on the front. His shoes are a lime green like his jacket, with black laces.

Personality: Emil in general is quiet, good natured boy. He goes out of his way to help people, no matter what the task. He is an over-achiever he always gives 110%, always overexerting himself. Reading is something that he enjoys, catching up on folklore, reading old legends, but his favorite is one about kids who go to a school to harness their magical abilities. He likes it because it relates to him in so many ways. All the reading has made him quite inteligent. Emil seems to be one without fears or phobias, but he actually has quite a bit. Like his claustorphobia, he can not stand being trapped in small spaces(unless he can leave willingly) if long enough he will break down into tears. He also has a bad fear of cutting things with knives as fear that the knife will jump up and slit his wrists. Tape measures are also another fear, he fears that the measure will fling back hitting him and causing pain. One major issue with Emil is his anger. When he gets angry he quickly resorts to hitting and won't stop until he his pulled away.

He loves to be outside. He loves playing sports like Cricket and Lacrosse. He enjoys doing them because not only are they fun, but they keep him fit. One sport that he uses to get rid of anger his baseball. Nothing calms him down like smacking a ball full force across a field. One of his favorite things to do that is not sporty is stand where the ocean's waves will wash up and swish in between his toes. That gives him a lot of inspiration to draw and write. Drawing and writing are things that Emil is not reall good at, but he enjoys.

Techniques:

Hammer Slam
Grade D.
Emil slams his hammers into the ground and they create a small earthen spasm. It may cause people who are moving(or extremely klutzy) to lose their footing. At Emil's current strength level he can execute this attack about 6 times before it becomes utterly useless doing nothing.

Hammer Clap
Grade D-
Emil claps his hamers together with an extreme force that they cause a shockwave to burst within a smal radius. It has a small chance to cause ones ears to bleed, and an even smaller chance to knock them over.

History:
Emil was born and raised in England to the powerful Lancaster family. His family was among the first of people to discover their powers, so unlike most they trained and worked on it. When they discovered others had powers they built a school and got people to come. Overtime more and more people came until the school was thriving full of people. When Emil was born his family had quite a fortune and he grew up getting whatever he wanted. As a child, when his sister was born his family completely forget about him, and he had to raise himself. He had to work for all his money, make his own food, arrange his own meetings with friends, alll of it that your parents were supposed to do, Emil did. This was what built him. It made him who he is. When he turned 12, his parents forced the code of honor upon him and he had to follow of face severe punishments. Only once did he break the code and that was covering for his sister, but in the end he was caught. His sister had accidentally destroyed one of the families magic books, and Emil said he did. They were both caught, but that was with no punishment, but a lesson to learn. At thirteen, his parents wanted to see if Emil could wield the two hammers. When he first picked them up, he immediately failed. So, they trained him and tried again a year later. He fell again, so they moved onto his sister, whom failed just like him.

When Emil turned 16, he wanted to go out and see the world,(he felt he failed his parents) but needed protection so he grabbed the hammers and walked out the door. He was about halfway down the street before he realized that he was actually holding the hammers. He ran back to his house and showed his parents, to which they congratulated him, and began talk about their powers and heritage. It was then that he found out he had a dragon spiritually linked to him. There he found out that he wasn't so normal, there his life reached it's major turning point. He was told(and didn't want to leave now) to go out places and try and discover his powers. When, and only when he does may he come back. So, with a hefty sum of money given to him by his parents Emil left for a new life. People gave him awkward stares because of the two large hammers on his back, but the police never really did anything. He bought a tent, some pots, clothes and other necessities. He lived alone for nearly two harsh years, and on the year of his seventeenth birthday he had discovered his powers. He trekked his way home from the far away place, it took a couple of months. When he came back, he was shipped off to Lancaster so his powers could intensify.

Additional Information: N/A

Emil's Dragon.

Name: Driz
Gender:Male
Age:180 (He ages 10x as fast as humans like most dragons, that doesn't make him more mature)
Elemental Affinity: Earth, like Emil

Appearance: Driz is still a dragon adolescent. He is only about as tall(when standing up on two legs) as Emil's waist line. He is of a light blue color with hints of a creme brown. Very small white horns peak from the top of his head, at this point they can be broken if one intends to. If they are to break off now, they will be gone forever. His scales are tough, but they do not fully cover his body. His belly, face, and legs are scale less and open to lots of harm. To fix this, Emil has bought small metal armor that he can put on these weaker spots. Driz's tail reaches out a full 7 inches, and has a bunch of 1-2 inch spikes sticking out from it. His whole body legnth is 35 inches. Driz's are a bright, colorful green color. His wing span is a mere 5 inches.

Personality: Driz is just like a seven year old kid. He loves to play. This littlle dragon is full of energy and will zip around on his small wings, until he comes crashing down. Sometimes it will take while for him to understand what is going on, or that he needs to be serious and calm down. He is, however, a very hard worker. Once you assign him a task he will finish it, even at the cost of a day of play. Sometimes when at work he will forget all about it if something excites him.

Techniques:

Tantrum
Grade D
Like a little kid Driz has tantrums. However, his are bit more earthly. When he gets angry and things don't go his way, he will stomp around and cry. His stomping will shoot up the dirt, dust, mud, and just about anything that isn't heavy around him up in the air. Combined with his the attack, this can be a little irritatiing.

Screaming Voice
Grade D
Driz screams and crys. His crys bounce around and help find hollow spaces and even somtimes were people are. It can help find lost items, and tell Emil where to go. Like if Emil wants to go through a castle avoiding as many guards and not stopping(no dead ends) this is very useful. If it hits a wall Emil knows not to go there. However, this has a small range as of now. This technique only happens when Driz is sad, or angry, but not angry enough to throw a tantrum.

Huffy Puffy
Grade D

Driz takes in a big breath of air. He holds it for a second and then release it with force. It will blow things in the breeze, like the debris picked up by his Pay Back attack. If used into things like a harmonica it can produce beautiful music. He can choose how hard he wants to blow. Right now, on the flute Driz can play a small pattern of: a deep sound, a light sound, a light sound, and then a deep one.

Name: Raven Emblem
Gender: Male
Mission Code Name: Maverick
Age: 17
Profession: Ranger
Primary Weapon: Bow
Elemental Affinity: Earth
Description: Raven always has this black shirt that says "royal rock" with black jeans and a black trench coat. He has shoulder length black hair and mesmerizing black eyes. He is about 5'11" and is physically fit, he has a pink bracelet on his right hand. Also he has a custom black and purple quiver and Bow strung to his back at all times. He has a black studded belt on and is always wearing purple fish net underneath his shirt. He has purple studded vambraces on both arms that go up to his biceps. And underneath his pants he has loose studded legging armor that moves like silk.
Personality: Raven always has this mysterious air around him making people always feel uncomfortable around him. He always has a serious look on his face. He laughs all the time, but is rarely caught smiling. Raven is a ruthless boy for such a young age, he has much anger held within him at all times. But for some odd reason he is very easy going most of the time. He naturally loves animals and nerds, but he hates all jocks. He likes heavy music and punk rock. He doesn't really like to play video games and barely trusts cellphones, but he has one so he always can talk to his one friend back from Baton Rouge, his name is Jacob. Jacob is his only friend because he was the only person he actually talked to.
Techniques: Natural nightvision(c-) (has been able to see in the dark since birth), Eyes like an eagle (d)(he has the eyesight of an eagle), stone defense(d-) ( Raven can shoot multiple stone collums up at charging enemies but right now he can only conjure up 1 at a time), Mud shot(c) (Raven cuts his right hand and smal it into the earth and shoot multiple large earth arrows at anything he wants but since he is still weak he can only shoot 1 small earth arrow).
History: His mother died at the age of 36 from breast cancer so that is why he is always wearing the pink bracelet. His dad is a very good father except when he is drunk, so he hates his father very much. One day he was in his normal school and got into a fight with another kid. Well the kid tried to run away but Raven ran to his locker and grabbed his bow and arrow and shot him 175 meters down the street. So his father talked to some "people" and now he is being transfered to Lancaster school of battle. His hometown is Baton Rouge, Louisianna. The reason he is going to lancaster instead of Darkhorn is that Lancaster got to him first and his father doesn't want to be anywhere near him after the incedent at school. So Raven decided to go to Lancaster instead of Darkhorn.
Additional Information: Raven likes to cook all the time and is exceptionaly good at it. He also likes to write poetry.
Roleplaying Example: Joseph was just wondering why those men were beating that guy up he didn't really want to get involved but he was a very kind and sympathetic guy. Now that he had opened his mouth he was sitting in this chair all tied up with a cloth in his mouth and his eyes stapled shut.... "my freaking eyes!" Joseph screamed, though no one could hear him. Then all of a sudden he heard this loud bang and next a sharp pain in his left leg following another scream to never be heard.
"Now your going to do exactly what i say, you are going to live only if you can keep yourself alive long enough to escape, but don't worry not many people survive so don't get your hopes up. Don't worry about your leg it should heal up in time for our little game, we have a couple of doctors and nurses that can fix that easily. Now im going to take this cloth out of your mouth and if you refuse this generous proposal you will die". The mysterious man then removed the cloth from joseph's mouth, "what are the game and rules?" he questioned in pain.
"You will learn in good time WE are going to have to get you in tip top shape first then you will actually have a chance at survival, SON". Then at that moment the man removed all the staples with lighting like speed. Though his vision was blurry at first he knew this man. "Why dad? Why would you do this to me?".

Actually no he is going to be a middle ranger no crossbow and no big bow just a normal bow. i fixed it up a little bit tell me what you think now. if it needs more fixing go ahead and tell me please thanx.

yay sign ups. Lemme sort through these, in order of when you posted, here goes.

Lostt - Brawlers can't have Gauntlets and Greaves, they would be a Knight weapon probably. Brawlers stick specifically to hand to hand combat. If she made weapons from her element, that's a different story.

Raven Emblem - Its a decent signup but its missing a little bit. I'd like a little more in the history. If your char was born in Louisiana, then he's going to need a history reason why he is going to school at Lancaster in Europe and not Darkhorn. Also with techniques, far shot is something that a ranger would learn with natural skill, i suggest removing it and thinking of a technique with a weak elemental affinity since i assume... that you're a Sniper - Ranger? Pending for now, but accepted upon approval of fix ups.

Callandor - Samurais are very specific to the way of the katana, but if you can make this a good signup using the Zanbato then I'll let it happen. Reserved until Monday.

looks like fun! Would you mind if I took hold of two sets of reigns?

Name: Haru Takami
Gender: Male
Mission Codename: "Loser" (unwillingly by 'jocks') "Freefall" (by choice)
Age: 16

Profession: Ninja
Primary Weapon: ...ninja tools? (your varying assortment of kunai/shuriken/tonfa/ninja-to/smoke bombs, and anything else he can carry on his person secretly)

Elemental Affinity: Wind and Fire (the that fan feeds the flames...)

Description: Despite the times, the kid is still a weirdo. He has slightly spiked deep crimson(almost black) hair that hangs down to his shoulders, where his bangs hang over odd golden-yellow eyes. (don't even attempt to say they're hazel, he's very touchy about the matter) He stands at a lanky 5'11" and can usually be found wearing a black T-shirt over a bright "Here-I-am-come-and-kill-me!" orange long sleeved shirt. A thin chest plate can usually be found between layers. A pair of black fingerless gloves rests easily on his hands. He wears a pair of form-fitting black pants made of a material you'd think would 'swish' whenever he moves, but is actually silent, along with a pair of black sandals that reach up to mid calf. Strapped to his right shoe is a small pouch about two inches in diameter, what exactly is in this pouch however, is unkown. To complete the outfit he wears a black muffler that wraps around his neck and sits loosely on his shoulders, covering the lower part of his face. Noone knows what it looks like, exept maybe the Dean... and that's a big maybe. One final touch he's added, is a pair of ski-goggles resting neatly on his forhead, letting his bangs hang down below them.

Personality: Haru can be described in one word: "Psychotic." He goes against most things that people believe in nowadays. Completely unreligious as far as he knows, he bursts into fits of near uncontrolable (insane) laughter (think the origional joker) whenever someone mentions "God" or the like. When not acting like a complete psycopath or megalomaniac plotting world domination from his room where he creates all of the different types of bombs he uses, he's actually a cool guy to be around when the chance is taken to get to know him. Once he deems you a friend, he drops the 'psycho-madman' mask and lets you see that he's your average teenager, obsessed with what girls think of him, and whether he's going to pass the exam next week or something. One thing noone will ever catch him worrying about, friend or not, is what others think of him.

Techniques:
Rank D - Replacement technique: User uses non-elemental energy to replace themselves with a nearby item or person.
Rank C - Spiraling Bullet Technique: User causes a small vortex of wind to form around a weapon thrown or shot. A very common elemental tecnhique.
Rank C - Scorching Bullet Technique: User creates a small flame around a weapon thrown or shot. A very common elemental technique.
Rank B - Burning Twister Technique: Combines spiraling bullet and scorching bullet into a weapon with a burning ring of wind around it, like a small flaming tornado. Hard to pull off due to the need for using two elements.

History: Haru Is, of course, Japanese. Well, half Japanese. His father is American, meaning he speaks bolth. He had an average Japanese-American upbringing. Obsessed with anime and the like, Haru would spend most of his free time either watching anime, or practicing teh fighting styles of some of the main characters. Shortly after he joined a local dojo, and actually got a mildly high belt, nearing black. Unfortunatly for him, his mystical abilities appeared when he was fifteen and he never managed to reach it. He did, however, manange to develop his own fighting style his classmates had jokingly called "House-cat Kung Fu" due to the fact when fighting he looks like a cornered housecat. Due to distance, he went to Lancaster as opposed to other schools.

Additional Information: Haru has a well of knowlage of explosives and forumlas for making different types of bombs, from stink and stick, to high-grade and chilli-pepper, the latter of which is his favourite. Being a ninja he also likes to work with computers, mainly in the sense of learning how to hack them should it come up on a mission.

Spoiler:

Roleplaying Example:

A large group of men, fully armored stood around a bed, weapons drawn and aimed at the person laying there. One of the soldiers lowered his weapon, turning to the one next to him and muttering in low tones.

"We've been standing here for like... three hours... couldn't we have just bagged him by now?" asked the soldier, who's legs were crossed in an attempt to avoid soiling his uniform. Several soldiers were actually doing this, quite a shame when there was an open bathroom door not four feet away.

"No.. the boss wants 'em to be awake when we out 'em... otherwise the drugs dont work right." Said the supposed commanding officer. And so they stood there, watching the teenage boy sleep, guns still raised, four of their ranks still dancing to an unkown tune. If one was there to watch the clock next to the wall on the far side of the room, they'd have seen the slowest progression of time from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

It was now that the boy chose to stir. Now of all times. now when every soldier had agreed the boy would not be waking up soon, and had left to use one of the many bathrooms througout the abandoned apartment complex. Looking around the boy saw nothing out of the ordinary with his room, and proceeded to go down to his kitchen on the first floor to grab a bite to eat.

Making it there he, as usual, didn't see a living soul inside the building, but he was used to this and welcomed it warmly, spending the first few years of your life in an orphanage did that to someone. Entering the kitchen though, he was given probably the biggest shock of his life.

He'd left the oven on. He never left the oven on. As he went to shut it off, he felt a slight prick in his neck, before reaching up and removing the painful object, only to find a dart. That's when his world went blank.

~~~
When he woke up, he found himself in a dark cell like place. And the worst thing he could see... there wasn't a fridge.
"Oh come on.. i'm starving!" He whined, not even bothering to comment on the fact that he had just been abducted. He took another look around and noticed that there was, thankfully a sink, with an old aluminum cup hanging from the faucet. He moved to get a drink, but found the sink to be just for display, no water came from it's tap.
"Stupid fangirls... if they're gonna kidnap me repeatedly they could atleast get me something to drink...."
----------
Meanwhile....
----------
Another group of soldiers crounded into two alleys, communicating through headsets as they waited for their prey.
"Where is she... dosn't she usually take this route to work soon?" Spoke one of the soldiers. His complaintative question was met with murmers of agreement. That is, untill their leader spoke up.
"There she is... group B, after she passes you move in to block her exit, we'll move in at the last minute to get her." The leader said, as he and group A stood wait till she was almost at them, before flooding out into the street and catching the girl in a blockade of sorts.
"What do you want?" She said, startled but quickly in a defensive position. The soldiers all chuckled and drew closer, not noticing the change in her clothing.
"Come quietly and you wont be harmed." Stated the lead officer there. Bad choice of words in her opinion.
"I'll give you quiet..." She said, cupping her hands around her mouth and closing her eyes, willing her vocal chords to take the strain she was about to put on them.
"GO AWAY!" she screamed, visible distortions in the air as the soundwaves collided with the soldiers, and shattered the windows behind her. When she stopped, her clothing shifted back to fabric and she panted, trying to regain her breath as she looked out over the group of fallen soldiers, their headsets smoking due to overloading the microphones. It was then that the knockout grenade held in one of their hands went off, surrounding the teenaged DJ in a cloud of noxious fumes that, while she was breathing hard, instantly dropped her into a state of unmoving sleep.
A third squad, group C moved forwards from further down the street. they were there bolth as backup, and to warn groups A and B that she was coming so they could prepare, but now they were there on cleanup duty. They now saw why it took so many people to bring in these alters... the sheer power.
~~~

Noise. Yelling, screaming, cheering, crying. All these sounds could be heard, along with hundreds of footsteps. Sitting up suddenly, she clasped her hands over her ears, forcing her eyes closed tighter in an effort to block out the sounds. Wait.. over her ears? Her eyes snapped open at this. Her headphones were missing. Her sound dampening headphones were missing. Footsteps approached and stopped just infront of the bars to her cell door. Said article was thrown, unceremoniously onto the floor before her.

Gritting her teeth, she lunged for them, pulling them on and sighing contently as the bombardment of sound stopped. Now looking upon the man before her, she couldn't help but shivver at the look of pure malice upon his face.

~~~~
Bolth prisoners soon learned of what they would be forced to do.. and bolth had the exact same thought running trough their head as they rested on the floor near the back walls of their cell:
"Why dose today suck so badly?"
Name: Zephaniah Xylon
Gender: Male
Mission Codename: Visser 3
Age: 16
Profession: Rune Knight
Primary Weapon:
Zanbato ( http://alieneye.net/pub/berserk/dragonslayer/IMG_2079.jpg ) The only difference between this one and his are the three runes for his spells. He got it form another Rune Knight who thought it might be helpful in the future. The Mystery Rune, which is also the biggest, takes up the entire center of the Zanbato. It is made up of two interlocking circles withe three lines going through them, and a mishapen humanoid figure in the center. The Fires of Heaven rune is an upside down flame, and is about the size of Zeph's palm at the top of Zanbato. The Flames of Zanbato rune looks like Zanbato on fire, and that one is sideways under TFOH rune. it is the size of Zephs palm too. There is rughly enough room for mabey two more runes on the front, and five on the back.
Elemental Affinity: Fire
Description:
Everything about him is a requirement of his family tradition. Even his personality. His armor is the common look of Rune knights in his family. Light armor like pants with cottin padding underneath and chainmail at the joints. His arms are in full-arm gauntlets(not wepons) with chainmail at the joints, and cottin padding underneath. They are conected with a steel chain necklass going from one around the neck to the other, in front and back. He also has a chainmail skirt that starts at the waist and goes down half way in between the knee and foot. All he has around his chest are two leather studed belts. He is not aloud to ware anything but his armor in public. He stands close to 7' tall with a very impressive build. He has a shaved head, and numerious scars all around his body, not all of which were caused by fights in school. His family takes punishment very seriously. His face has a very cold look most of the time. The only thing his family couldn't change were the color of his eyes, which are crystal blue.
Personality:
Again, with family tradition comanding his life, he has a very cold personality towards others. Often ignoring others even when they are extremely nice. He also chalenges any one who insaults his honor to a duel. With all the fights hes been in he should have been kicked out, but his family is very rich, and if one of their sons is sent out for what they cosider a very honorable act, then there goes some major funding, and amazing students. When not in public he is actualy very fun loving and calm. He has also learned to keep pain off his face, and out of his voice and movements. He could get a huge gash on his back and only grunt violently, while baring his teeth for a mounment. Also the only people he trusts with any serect are his five brothers.
Techniques: Ranking scale(weak F, D, C, B, A, S strong) These are battle ranks.
F=can't be used in battle, S=total destruction.
Flames of Zanza(D): His Zanbto in engulfed in flames. Strangly it never melts.
Fires of Heaven(B): He points his Zanbato towards the sky and fire rains down on all foes. Right now though he can only rain fire in a small column and is easy to dodge.
Mystery Rune(unknown): He doesn't know what it does yet. All the old Knight said was "Give me food, and I will live; give me water, and I will die. What am I? When you can solve that riddle all you need to do is put your palm on the rune and think the awnser."
Cauterization(F): On the bottom of the Pommel is an infinite symbol. When Zeph says the name of the technique the symbol glows red and begins to heat up the pommel. This is not ment to be a battle move, but a crude form of healing. He has many of these burn scars all over his body.
History:
He was born in to a very rich family who sent all their sons to Lancaster. They live in London, England. At age five he was started on his lessons of the family tradition. Taught that the family line came first. At age ten he was told that he would have an aranged marrige. Two years later his future bride and most of her family was killed in an exploision. Because of this he was, in accordence with family "law", he was never aloud to marrie or even have a relationship with anyone again. To honor her sacrafice supossedly. Aside from that he had a pretty "normal" life filled with lessons and combat training.Then he was sent to Lancaster school of battle. And his life was turned upside down. He always thought that everyone had simmiler lives. Now it's getting harder to obey without question his family "laws". He still does obey them, he just hesitates for half a second. As it may have been estalblised he is not an only child. He has four brothes and two sisters. And this is the chain, youngest to oldest (no names yet). Brother(10), Sister(12), Brother(14), Brother(14), Zephaniah(16), Sister(17), Brother(19).
Additional Information: He's very good at acting. He kind of has to be, what with acting like he still belives, without question, that what his family says is right. And acting like he's heartless with everyone else. He is also an impressive singer, though he will never let anyone but his brothers know.
Roleplaying Example:
Zeph was so hungry. He had never been this hungry before. He couldn't remember the last time he ate or what food tasted like. Zeph had been starving for about four weeks before today, unable to find any food in the ruins of his old neighborhood. He was on the knifes edge of starvation. Only a few more hours before he died. Then he heard voices. Too weak to do anything he just lay their, eyes open though they might as well have been closed.
"Man, are you sure this is the guy were looking for? He looks like he's half starved to death," said one guy.
"More like three-fourths starved. Come on lets get him back to the base before he keels over," said the other one.
They picked him up and carried back to the RumbleRena base. An hour later Zeph awoke to the smell of…. Something he didn't quite recognize in a small room with nothing but a small table, the bed he was in and a door, but as soon as he realized what the smell was, he shot up out of the bed he was in. Food, it was food. He saw a bowl of oatmeal on the table, and immediately began eating. When he was done with it, he saw five more bowls on another table in a corner and ran over and began scarfing down all of them. He felt like something was wrong, but couldn't put his finger on it or even find enough reason to care. I have FOOD! He thought.Half way through the third bowl though he found reason to care. Behind him the door had opened to admit nearly thirty armed soldiers. As soon as Zeph realized that, he activated his Alter power, spun around and clapped. With the use of his power he not only amplified it but shot it at ten different soldiers. All ten dropped dead from burst vital organs.
"Halt!" yelled someone still in the hall. He pushed through to the front and with all the soldiers still pointing guns at Zeph said "I want you to participate in some kind of…..game, yes that's it, a game. You will be fighting artificial Alter users. How does that sound? We will of course provide you with food and shelter."
At first Zeph was doubtful, but was remedied of that as soon as he said Zeph would have food. Food. Finally food for sure. I'll never starve again. "So all I have to do is fight some factory rejects and I'll get food?"
"Yes," said the man.
Zeph thought he might like this arrangement. After all his father all ways used to say that a dead fake is a good fake.
Wow, I got back just in time to catch this RPG! I might as well use the same character as before...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Name: Natalie Mayberry, aka Nim (which happens to be her initials)
Gender: Female
Mission Codename: Violet Rose
Age: 16
Profession: Witch
Primary Weapon: A ring, which was a present to her from her mother. The ring is big enough in diameter that it fits snugly around her right index finger, is just less than half an inch thick, and although it's made of silver, it is coloured a light and rather glittery purple on the surface (as in not the inside where her finger touches it). Around the surface is a design that is actually a word, spelled in... not runes, but something that looks similar to them. It reads "Sensaori", a name that typically means "a special presence within"--something along those lines. Everybody in the Temple of Darkness (see History) was given a ring similar to this upon initiation.
Elemental Affinity: Earth and Lightning
Description: If you take a look at Nim, you might think she looks a bit older than she is... Especially if she acts older than she is to match. She's about 5'4" tall, a pretty average height for her age. Her curly blond hair hardly ever shines and is relatively dull in colour, and reaches partway down her back. The front parts of it, except for two short strands in the very front, are pinned back with a black barette with four purple roses on it, and with three short and shiny black ribbons hanging from it. Her eyes are a dark grayish-purple in colour, and her skin is a very light beige colour, and shows no evidence of any sort of tan. Yet even with such a light hair colour, her eyelashes are definitely visible and are a dark red near the roots. Her lips are always coloured a pale shade of violet.

Nim's obvious favourite colours are purple and black, and it really shows up in her usual outfit. There's a purple shirt that's made of a very soft material and gets darker in colour at the bottom, with a border of dark purple lace at the bottom. There's a black sweater over that, with sleeves that don't quite reach her wrists, with a single button in front that looks like a small round silver mirror, with a hood in back, and with a length that's not as long as the shirt underneath it. Nim also wears a black skirt that goes down just below her knees, black suede boots that are furry at the top and have one black pom-pom ball each hanging from them, and... Wait, that would mean her legs show. Or not--you can faintly see a pair of plum-coloured leggings between her skirt and her boots.

Nim doesn't believe in carrying a backpack--instead she carries around a shoulder bag made of a black crocheted cloth, closed with a purple zipper with a purple ribbon attached. Hanging in the front from its handle is a small purple velvet bag with the outline of a raven on the front, where she keeps the more personal items...

Personality: Nim's personality is quite different from what it was when she was younger. She used to be perky, mischievous, and rebellious, and even seemed to be a little talkative (or at least "giggly") as well. Well, now she's starting to experiment with staying quiet most of the time, and try to communicate with facial expression (or should I say "optical expression", since she mostly shows emotion with her eyes) instead of words. After all, she sometimes has a hard time putting things into words, and prefers to form ideas as pictures or thoughts. Occasionally, especially in a spell, she might try to pick out words that might fit the situation, and back it with nonverbal expressions or a picture in her mind. She's a firm believer in hand gestures as well. When she does wish to talk, she tends to speak in a sophisticated and even pedantic matter, although she does not take that classic "whiny and braggy" tone she used to employ when she was younger. She tends to be a rather polite person overall, and is not one to make rude marks like she occasionally used to.

Classrooms give Nim the strongest provocation to talk--Nim does enjoy answering quiz questions the teacher asks. She's quite a scholarly young lady, curious about the deepest secrets of the world around her. She learns best through lectures and such, but she won't fall asleep while looking through a textbook (unless it's on a very boring and useless subject, like history in her opinion). Sometimes she even has a habit of looking through the rest of the textbook in spare classroom time... She's also the one to see a B as a "low grade", but doesn't get nearly as upset at getting a B or C as she used to when she was very young. Now, as for spare time in general... Nim's the kind of person who has no problem with being alone, and in many cases prefers it. But there are those random moments when she'll feel comfortable entering a conversation with someone... or in rare cases, starting one.

It is also known that Nim's worst little phobia is of pain, as it is purely physical and can't be avoided. She's known not to afraid, though, of such things as the dark, spiders, you get the idea. One of her favourite pastimes includes wandering out to places, looking for interesting sights, and hopefully discovering secret facts or locations along the way. She especially likes to do this on cloudy or foggy days, or on nights when the moon is bright. Another thing she really loves is music--she likes listening to it, and singing songs or humming tunes as she's walking along. Sometimes she even resorts to speaking in song lyrics, and has even come up with a song or two. Her favorite kind of music is an odd combination of new age and techno music, with a few related genres and scattered popular music in there as well. (Obviously she carries an MP3 player with her.) She enjoys singing in humming in the shower, at the dinner table, or most anywhere else... Not to mention she often sings incantations when casting a spell. She's also quite an animal lover as well, which explains her pet cat. Cats are one of her favourite animals as well, closely tied with ravens, snakes, and spiders. Let's see, what other interests...? She shows a strong interest in the supernatural, which makes sense since she's a witch. Particularly, this fascination lies with psychic abilities and divination. Now... okay, enough about interests.

Techniques:
-One technique that definitely needs an incantation to work is a healing ability. To heal things like wounds or illnesses or discomfort in herself or other people, Nim derives energy from the ground--from the earth. Obviously this works best when she's standing on the ground floor of a building, or anywhere else level with the ground. It also seems to work with ground-based objects, such as trees and boulders. The ability works best on herself, to soothe pain, taking energy directly from the ground. She seems to be currently unable to cure viral diseases with this ability, as well as the more serious wounds. To use this ability on herself, she merely has to place her hands and feet on the ground (and there's the incantation of course), but when using it on another person, she has to hold the person's dominant hand on the ground as well. Specifics, specifics...
-Nim's second Earth-based technique is more offensive in nature... although it can be used defensively as well. This one sprouts various kinds of vines from the ground. The vine(s) can be thin and wispy, thick and thorny, single or numerous... the last line of the incantation specifies the type. The vines only last for a limited time, and eventually turn into dust. As of now, the longest vine Nim has been able to summon this way was nearly twice as tall as she was, the thickest about four inches in diameter, with thorns up to an inch long, and up to six ones up to half the size of these records at a time. The longest one of these vines has been standing was forty seconds. And as of now, she hasn't been able to make any irregularly coloured or glowing vines (just green or brown ones, depending on how much water is present in the ground). Note that the vines can only sprout from the ground--they can't break through a stone or metal floor, and (to Nim's slight dismay) can't sprout of a person, or anything alive for that matter.
-Okay, now for the Lightning-based techniques. The first is a sort of magnetic force emanating from Nim's ring. This can be used to move objects around, much like telekinesis. However, Nim sometimes has trouble using this ability on non-metal objects, especially objects made of rubber or glass. It works rather well on water and plastic as well, but without much control. Now, if only Nim could learn to fuse this with aural energies and/or exercise more control over this ability...
-One could easily tell that Nim's last technique is a lightning-based one. It basically lets Nim form a purple thunderbolt that is made of electrical energies and can act much like a spear. When fired, her ring uses another magnetic force to send it in the right direction. This thunderbolt can be as small as a pencil or as large as her leg, but has a very constant electrical charge despite the size. Nim seems to have a bit of trouble controlling the size, but at least her aim with this is getting better...

History: In a little town in a valley not too far away from Lancaster, a little girl was born. Her birth hadn't really been planned--her parents didn't care for each other too much, yet they managed to come up with a baby shortly after their first and only date. The two were quite different--Dad was a manager in a mobile phone company, and Mum was a minister (high priestess) of a certain church that played a vital role in Nim's life... But we'll get to the church later. Fortunately, Dad was okay with keeping little Nim in his quaint little house on the hillside. Life was good--the hillside was part of a benevolent residential community, and a fun little outing or activity was both possible and common there... Blah blah blah, is that important? Well, it's a good foundation underneath what happened next...

That was school. Outside that little hillside community, the surrounding town was comparatively chaotic. Low-lifes of all sorts were not an uncommon sight, especially in the form of small gangs, weapon or drug dealers, rapists... you get the idea. Apparently the police there were overly lenient or just off duty too often, which only enhanced the chaos... It was a dumb idea on the town's part to not include a school in the comparatively peaceful Meadow Hills community, so Nim attended the same school as all the other townspeople's children out there. It was a stressful experience--at first Nim proved to be quite the scholarly little girl who didn't fall asleep during a lecture or dare to pick a fight... but things quickly changed due to peer pressure and name-calling. Nim quickly turned into a little "devil kitty" as she called herself often, the one who believed firmly in revenge and loud remarks, the one who fiercely bit back at name-calling and harrassment. She frequently got into some trouble in school, and if she didn't get into detention, her father grounded her, or else cancelled outings and other privileges.

But whenever the opportunity arose, Mum joined Nim. Dad didn't like Mum one bit (he broke up with her the second he learned about her spiritual beliefs, believing they were satanic), so he strictly forbade Nim to be with her mother. But Mum had quite a knack for finding a way around such rules, not to mention she handled herself well around all the other low-lifes in the streets. Often times she would "steal" Nim away either after school or in the middle night, to spend a little time with her. Hmm, Dad was a nice person when he wasn't explaining rules, but was boring compared to Mum. Over time, Mum started taking her to her church, commonly called the "Temple of Darkness"...

The Temple of Darkness was a cult church, housed in a purple Victorian house partially buried into the side of the valley. Of course, was it a "church"? Mum passed this place on as a church when faced with legal issues and such, but really it was more of a club. It was devoted to anything magical and supernatural, and its "sermons" told about hidden magical forces that lay past the control of most people. The Temple had only one "minister" to speak on such a topic, one who was actually a witch. Wow, really? Meaning she could cast spells and fly on a broom and... Well, in actuality, witches didn't fly on broomsticks as their stereotypes did, but she did occasionally, just as a little touch of style. But that's not the point. "Minister" Lilith also happened to be Nim's mother. Ahh, so THAT'S why she was so good at self-defense out there, and it could have explained why Dad broke up with her... Whenever the chance arose, Lilith/Mum brought Nim to these meetings, and if there was extra time, she took her into an empty cavernous space in the back of the Temple to start to teach her some of her practices.

Behind this Temple of Darkness was a cave... one that long ago was said to lead to a mystical land from which all magical presences originated. It was a land inhabited mostly by wizards and other magic users, a land with a portal that was located inside this cave. Unfortunately, now the portal is closed, but Lilice still made frequent trips to visit this portal, and occasionally to pick up inspirations about it. It can also be noted that many of the incantations she used in her spells were in a language spoken only in that land beyond the portal.

Hmm, to understand more, we must look at Lilith, Nim's mother. Lilith had attended Lancaster in her own youth, and had moved out here in the hopes of keeping the town together, to prevent it from entering anarchy and chaos. (She originally had the idea of becoming a teacher in Lancaster, but the faculty preferred some woman named Kiki Kiribayashi over her.) She specialised in using dark magic, and frequently used it on any particularly destructive individuals in town. Of course, nobody in the town learned about her magical abilities, for whenever she used her dark magic on those destructive individuals, she didn't stop until she killed them in an isolated location. It can also be noted that she put a sort of curse on the Temple of Darkness, which mysteriously prevented any sort of vandalism or trespassing on the building by changing the person's mind about the destructive action. Many passersby swear the building's cursed, but they're always told they spoke of nonsense... Anyways, during Lilith's highly infrequent private tutoring sessions with Nim, she mostly lectured about the basics of spellcasting, properties of various magical energies, the importance of being aware of consequences of abilities, etc. She always knew Nim had been born a witch, as one of her own abilities was to detect magical abilities in other people, and the general elemental path they took. But she didn't teach Nim how to use any of thse dormant abilities yet--she feared that Nim would get ostentatious about it in school. Nim occasionally had a habit of threatening to put curses on people in school, but she was never able to follow through with those threats. Nope, not worthy yet.

After Nim graduated from elementary school, Lilith made an interesting discovery: the Joseph Mayberry who kept Nim in the Meadow Hills community for five years was not her real father. Her real father was... a wizard from a distant town she had met up with a few days before the date. This turned into an argument with Mr. Mayberry, which centred around Lilice demanding that Nim live with her from then on. The argument turned into a fight, which ended in Lilice killing him, just like the other dangerous individuals she encountered in the town. Well anyways, from then on Nim lived with her mother, and therefore the Temple of Darkness was now her house. From then on, Nim did not attend any public school--instead her mother homeschooled her. Oh, oh, you know what this means. Yes, Lilice also snuck in some magical tutoring, and this time, she was actually able to teach Nim how to use her magical abilities, since she had matured a little since a few years ago, and since she was not in the presence of bullies and such as often (less provocation).

Life was good again for the next few years. Lilith was neither a strict teacher nor a harsh mother, and certainly wasn't overprotective either. Especially when Nim turned fourteen, the two frequently went on outings around or just outside the town. Occasionally Nim encountered her old schoolmates, but her habit of loud remarks and vengeful acts began to fade away... for now she was under less pressure from society, and less stress from her family. Sometimes, there was the occasion when Nim was beaten up or something, in which case that Lilith and Nim would either (in the order of most frequent to least frequent) run away, protect themselves with knives and other mundane weapons, or kill the offender with dark magic (in Lilith's case) or one or a few of those thunderbolt spears (in Nim's case, and that only happened once).

Yet somehow, Lilith felt that she wasn't a very good teacher for Nim... Okay, she was good at explaining a little of the basic elemental stuff Nim caught onto rather quickly, but not much else... Okay, she was also good at helping her with incantations, most of which were of the language of the elusive land beyond the portal. Well, at least the land was an ancient enough magical society to have incantations in its language work... But that's just a detail. Lilith tried once or twice to teach Nim how to use dark magic, but that proved to be impossible. Especially since that ability needed to come after mastering all the elements, and teaching Nim about her non-native elements was tedious anyways... Nim needed a better teacher, or perhaps a few better teachers. Ah--there it is--how about enrolling in the school of Lancaster? It was a sort of disheartening decision to make on Lilith's part, but at least Nim was rather eager to enroll, hoping it would help her learn the things her own mother was having trouble teaching her...

Additional Information: Nim has a pet cat named Umbra, which she'll bring into the academy if it's allowed. Umbra is black and fluffy, with bright blue eyes... Aww... soft as well. But enough about a little cat. Nim also belongs to something like a group of friends--a group that meets in the Temple of Darkness and is called the Wicked Roses. The Wicked Roses consist of Nim, Lilith, two other witches (one Lancaster graduate, one self-taught), a ranger/musician, and... a normal girl about Nim's age. We'll get to them more in the RPG.

Roleplaying Example:

^OOC: The following is from a Harry Potter RPG I created a while back on another site, where Nim and her mother were my characters. Nim is named Kiki in this RPG--Kiki is her usual name when I sign her up in RPG's. However, in this RPG, in order to avoid confusion with Professor Kiki, I changed her name to Nim. And Lilith's name used to be Lilice, as it is in this sample.

The rising August sun woke Kiki instantly. The light almost stung her eyes, as it always does with those who, umm... prefer the darker side of life... Speaking of which, Kiki had just had one of those "flashback dreams"--a dream where an event in one's past is replayed. Kiki only remembered fragments of this dream...

It was in elementary school, back when Kiki was 6--too young to start studying magic yet. It was a scene which occasionally haunted Kiki, but still the past cannot be changed. Back then (and maybe now even so), Kiki was overly proud when she found out she was a witch, so she would frequently threaten fellow students with magic. Because of that, she earned a reputation of being the "class devil". Why magic was often associated with evil Kiki's mum did not understand, but Kiki herself used it to her advantage--she enjoyed being seen as evil.

In this typical day, Kiki walked down the corridor leading to her classroom, always quite far away from the other students. As she walked, she occasionally heard whispers among the students, whispers of "there goes Satan's daughter" or "Do I look like a toad?" or "what a freak" et al. Kiki, though, played along with this rather than felt offended--there she was, wearing her usual black clothing, and a red shirt with a black skull on it. For extra fun, her hair ties looked like red horns. Anyways, when she entered the classroom, she sat in a desk in the front center of the classroom, like any typical smartie would. For it was this stereotype that Kiki often fit as well, and it was her success in school that kept her there. Anyways, as the teacher taught the class, she kept throwing menacing glances at Kiki, and some students talked behind her back. No one dared throw paper balls at her or any of the usual pranks--they were too afraid she would put spells on them. And at the end of the school day, two kids got into a fight, and Kiki jumped in to break it up. She threatened the two as usual ("Respect each other or be cursed for life!"), and the two chickened out and actually hugged each other before walking off. This memory often embarrassed Kiki when she thought of it, but her acts only ceased by a tiny margin over time...

Checking her calendar, Kiki noticed that there were only two weeks left before her first year at Hogwarts would begin. She was deeply excited about this, so thus she got ready for the day ahead on a merry note.

When Kiki opened the front door of the house, Umbra walked in, rubbing up against Kiki's leg then walking off to see her dad (who was still asleep). But the activity wasn't only inside...
"Come on Kiki!" called a recognizable voice from outside.
"Coming Mum!" Kiki jumped with joy at her mother's arrival--she always enjoyed her company rather than Dad's. Dad often wanted to "set Kiki straight", meaning that he strongly wished that Kiki would keep her identity as a witch secret, especially to muggles.

Lilice (Kiki's mother) was leaning against the outside wall, holding a broom. The broom's sleek shape and clean appearance could only mean it was for flying.
"All right!" Kiki cheered. She always loved being up in the air. "Hey wait a minute..." Kiki's cheering ceased a bit. "Isn't that a new broom?"
Lilice's method of answering was flipping the broom upside-down so that the gold lettering on the end of the handle was in plain sight.
"Wow, the new Nimbus 1999!" Kiki resumed her cheering. "How on earth did you get one?"
"Simple--I saved up," Lilice answered. "And, I had plenty of extra cash on hand, so I have a surprise for you when we get to my place." While Lilice said this, she took a wand out of her pocket--Kiki looked puzzled. But her confusion was quickly solved...
"Accio Cleansweep." Before long, another broom flew out of the door and stopped right between Kiki's legs.
"Wait..." Kiki's face started to brighten. "You want me to ride it?!?"
"I don't know how much weight the new Nimbus can handle--I don't want to break it. Now, you know how to take off, right?"
"Of course, I've seen you do it countless times."
"Felt, even." Lilice smiled as she mounted the Nimbus. After kneeling a short while, she shot straight up, and within seconds she was a few hundred feet in the air.

"Wait for me!" Kiki's voice came from below. Whe the slower broom carrying the less experienced rider caught up, the two continued on, heading due west towards Lilice's house. Kiki felt relieved that they were not facing the sun.
"So how did you take off like that?" Kiki asked while they were flying.
"The trick is to keep your broom level with the ground, and to practically jump into the air. Most people tilt up and kick off backwards, causing them to go forward."

Kiki and Lilice flew over a wide valley, and they began their descent towards a small alley at the base of a steep cliff on the side of the valley. On one side of the alley was a shabby old bar, and directly opposite it was a large lavender building that looked like a cross between a Victorian house and a church. In fact, at one point long ago it did use to be a church. Anyways, the two landed right on a walkway leading to the front door, next to where a scarecrow stood. Lilice would have removed this monstrocity had there not been a particular raven that often perched upon its head. Lilice and Kiki walked right past this and went inside.

"Surprise!"
They had walked into what had once been a lobby. But one sight surprised Kiki--a chair. On this chair was a black cauldron, inside of which were five or so books and some quills and parchment. A few robes were draped over the back of the chair--some black, some red or purple. On top was Kiki's Hogwarts letter. But there were two other items that got Kiki really excited...

One was a small crystal ball. It had a slight lavender hue to it and came with a glistening teal stand.
"Not only can this be used for Seeing, but if you have ever noticed a similar one in the hall... The two are visually connected, so if you look into yours, you may also see through to its kin. Technically, we could communicate that way."

The second item was a wand box. Kiki really jumped at this--her first wand! Kiki picked up the box as carefully as she could, opened it, and inside there was...

Nothing.

"You still need a wand, of course," Lilice explained. "But I cannot pick it out for you--wands are special. They pick their owners, in most cases. But not to worry--we'll get it when the school year draws nearer. Then we can pick up your baggage from your dad's, then it's off to Diagon Alley we go. There, I'm sure dear old Ollivander can help you out with your wand. And you know what comes next."

"This is the first time I've ever looked forward to the first day of school!" Kiki exclaimed. What a surprise this was--what a fine morning.

Name: William (He will be called Will in my posts)
Gender:Male
Mission Codename: Shadow
Age: 14

Profession: Crossbow Ranger
Primary Weapon: A Crossbow.
Elemental Affinity: Wind

Description: Will is a rather slim figure. He is thin and weighs about 100 lbs. He has ruffled black hair and piercing emerald green eyes. He has a scar that runs down the right side of his face(next to his ear and all and not his eye or anything). He is usually found wearing a green s T-shirt, black pants, and what his teacher calls a ranger cloak. His ranger cloak is a deep shade of green and basically blends in to mostly everything. He wears black running shoes which will let him run faster and quieter. He is also usually found(if not in battle, training, or anything else that might ruin it) listening to his favorite songs on his Ipod.

Personality: Will is very normal. He has a bunch of questions when he learns something new. He has been shunned out of most everything because he lived in an orphanage his whole life reflecting on his friend establishing techniques. He has no friends and doesn't socialise much. He normally wanted to become a Knight like his father he heard was a hero, but one day a high ranking ranger found him stealing muffins out of the orphanage kitchen without him being detected by the chef(who was in the room) and told him he wouldn't make it as a knight but more as a ranger. Ever since then Will has wanted to become a ranger more then anything.

Techniques:
Silent Walk
Will has the ability to walk through an open field with the wind blowing undetected because he knows how to hide his noise in the wind. The only downside to this ability is that Will has not toally learned how he can run through an open field so he can right now only slowly walk through it.
Senstation Imagination
Will has the ability to close his eyes and feel the surrondings arround him. Most people are freaked out by this ability the most, but Will thinks this will help him the most in battle. The only down side is that sometimes it is incorect and he can't tell who or what it is just that it is there and if it is attacking him that it is attacking him

History: (Where your char is from, family background, why they're at Lancaster instead of the other schools, things like that.)

Additional Information: Will was once in Taikwondo and ended it with a 2nd degree black belt when he was about 8. He is now currently in Kung Fu and has a 1st degree black belt in it and knows these will also come in handy with battle. He also plays the flute which can help him lul many people to sleep. He once lulled the orphanage principal(i guess you call them?) to sleep on his birthday bvut then got in to big trouble. Overall he enjoys being able to play the flute alot.

Roleplaying Example: (An example of your work as an RPer. You may write a sample intro or provide an example from another RP.)

Sorry It isn't finished yet just reserve me a Ranger spot. Also can my character have to knives he uses? One smal one as a throwing dagger and then another with a blade made of the finest metals that can be used sort of like how you parry with a sword.

Lostt and Silvertail, i'm only going to allow one character per RPer for the simple reason that this is already proving to be a well populated RP... and on from that point lets do the rest of this gig we'll start with....

Silvertail - pick a character and you're in. haha

Lostt - PM me about Lancaster's founder

Callandor - since you're a rune knight you'll need a rune for each technique you have, and a description of their appearance and size on your weapon. Accepted upon addition.

Ninetails - of course i'd accept a returning member! and a witch no less <3

Pikalover - I know you aren't finished but a few things to talk about... Snipers have large bows because of physics. theres no way a small tiny bow would be able to shoot anything 300+ meters accurately. If you wanna be a sniper you'll just have to settle with the large bow of your design.

Name: Neku (Hates being called "Neko")
Gender: Male
Mission Codename: Reaper
Age: 16
Profession: Ninja
Primary Weapon: Three-Form-Scythe
Elemental Affinity: Darkness and Sound.

Description: A skinny teen who wears a plain black t-shirt with a darkish blue sleeves. He has black headphones, and blue jeans, as well. His hair is a deep red color, and his eyes are emerald green and slitted, like a cat's. His fingernails naturally grow to a point, though he never lets them get like that if he can, because it doesn't help to have claw-like nails when you don't wank to be called a cat.

Personality: Anti-social, and a deadpan snarker. Neku prefers to be left alone by any and all people if possible, but will reulcantly work together with others if he has to. His least favorite type of people are the hyper or positive types, as well as anyone gothic or emo, despite how closely he resembles them. He has a soft spot for animals, most of all cats, but due to being tesed with the name "Neko" for most of his growing up years, he refuses to acknoledge that.

Techniques: Various "Special moves" that are used with the scythe. They are usually something overly basic, such as throwing it at an enemy, and the names are just to make him feel better about himself.

Infinite Darkness Solution: An illusion that makes the one affected unable to see anything but themselves and what they are holding.

Dead Soul Resurrection: A misnomer, what it really does is allow him to temporarily control a corpse, making it seem like they are alive.
Bunshin: Illusionary copies of himself that cannot interact with their surroundings.

Sonic Reverb: Neku adds chakra to the sound of his weapons cleaving the air, allowing it to cut people. This essentially gives his scythe, kunai, and shuriken an extra size that their opponents cannot see.

History: Coming from a family of ninja, Neku began to learn how to use his scythe very early. He has mastered the Dual Form, and is proficient in the Kusarigama form, and the Base form is his weakest. This gave him a negative realtionship with his family members, as the Base form (A full scythe with nothing special) is supposed to be the easiest one to master, yet Neku can only swing it around, not even performing any sort of special manuvers. Because his family lives in a sort of isolation from most others, this then carried onto giving him a negative opinion of everyone in the world. He's going to Lancaster because his parents decided to send him there, hoping that they could teach him the basics, and that being around other people his own age range would help to open him up.

Additional Information: Neku's usually playing music from his headphones, as a sort of training - he's trianed his ears to be able to listen to things going on just as well with the music on as they would've been without them. As such, he has amazing hearing when the headphones come off. This is a family training technique, so all of his realtives do so, as well, and some of the older ones have developed their hearing to a point where it normal talking is painful to them if the headphones are off.

Roleplaying Example: (A short one for a character with MPD, Ken / Inaba.)

Inaba gave a ridiculously cheesy grin, the kind that, in an anime, would have a dumb pose and sparkling teeth to go along with it. His hair was then blown back by a turn of the breeze, which instantly killed his mood. He looked like Ken when it faced that way. Quickly turning around so that it would stop blowing it the wrong direction, Inaba sighed. As long as the ship had headwinds, he couldn't look out at the sea if front of them... so instead he took to surveying the rest of the deck around him.

Ken looked over the people with an apathetic eye, brushing the hair back as it was blown the wrong way. He hated it like this... it kept getting in his face, and slightly hindering his vision. There was no one he could deem even remotely interesting to talk to, so he turned back to the ocean in front of them, staring back out at it as the oncoming wind blew his hair out of his eyes. Smiling by slightly turning up one corner of his mouth, Ken sighed happily. He hadn't felt this much at peace in a very long time...

Twilitdusk - You'll need to read the opening post again and remake your character. Theres no such thing as a Dark nor Sound affinity. Dark magic can only be used after learning to safely use all 6 elements. So usually only obtainable by most Witches and Wizards. Sorry, but I have to decline you.

Oh, I didn't know it was only the ones listed. I didn't see anything on there that indicated that.

How would I describe that he can more easily learn techniques that blind the enemy or involve sound, if not "Elemental Affinity"?

so i plan on starting this as soon as Lostt finishes his signup since he's been talking with me about it. Pikalover and Shadowfaith, keep working on it and you can just catch up if you aren't finished before i start. I'd also like to add that Lostt added a grade system to his techniques... i really like that as a reference to how powerful the skill is. If you all could please do the same to your current technique lists, that would be wonderful. I'll be doing the same :D.

(ooc: i hate to have to double post but it was necessary... sorry Allelujah =X. Lostt you're accepted and everyone please try to make the above noted changes to your signup before posting. Pikalover just tell me when you want me to check it.)

A group of men and women of all looks and colors, armors and weaponry, sat facing each other around a circular table with papers scattered all around it. At the head of the table stood an older man in his mid 70's, looking very formal with suit and tie. He sat with 8 portfolios spread in front of him. He finally spoke to the others in the room.

"So these are the candidates for the first year's Alpha Squad? Heidi, could tell me about them." The old man asked in a scruffy voice. A beautiful young woman with long elegant blond hair and a large bow on her back leaned forward and spoke up.

"The candidate for range support is a boy named Raven Emblem. He's kind of an odd boy... and he's from the Darkhorn area. But his skills can't be denied... I still recommend him... Theres one more candidate who's showing promise... but they haven't finished the final part of the test yet." She said in a tone that trailed as she finished.

"We'll just have to watch him a bit then. And Kiki, what of our mage support?" He said to a small but clearly middle aged woman at the far end of the table.

"The magic support will be provided by a girl named Natalie Mayberry. She's an Earth, Lightning affiliate and is showing promise in both offensive and healing spells. I feel she may even be able to grasp a new element by the end of the school year." The woman spoke in an informative tone across the table.

"Interesting... and Bardok? How are the close combats?" He said turning to a large bulk of a man with huge muscles and fists. His voice boomed in a healthy low baritone.

"We got an interestin' group of top scorers this year. I think you're gonna like em'. First up we've got the Saitoshi's boy, Shin! He's finally old enough to come here!" He said chuckling. The old man raised an eyebrow of interest.

"The blacksmith family? Another fire rune knight I assume?"

"No no it gets better. He was actually born with Ice affinity instead of fire but the boys a natural. Wields that same crazy weapon his parents did. His defensive capabilities are going to be imperative to the team. Although, interesting enough we have another Rune Knight who did equally well. And believe it or not, a Fire Rune user no less. Zephaniah Xylon is his name. His swords about as long as his name is... I'm sure once he learns to use that giant hunk of metal better, we'll be able to mold him into a great knight."

"Two Rune Knights in the squad? Interesting... quite rare to even have one."

"Ya I thought so too, but I kind of like it. The covert melee looks decent for now, Haku Takami, a Ninja. He scored very well but as we all know, we wont know until mission time how a ninja really performs, they're so damn sneaky. Theres one more ninja candidate in testing but they also show great promise."

"Excellent, it sounds like you all have chosen excellent members for the Alpha Squad, the classmates will look to them as they complete missions and represent their class in competitions --" The old mean began to say but was cut off by Bardok.

"Excuse me, Dean sir. I wasn't finished... I added in additional member to Alpha squad this year. His skills aren't very strong... and his partner is weak...but..." He started.

"Partner?"

"A Dragon Knight... Emil Lancaster."

"Lancaster?! After so long the family has sent another Dragon Knight? Its been at least 20 years since a Dragon Knight of Lancaster blood!" The Dean exclaimed.

"He came of his own free will, they didn't enroll him. I'm placing him in the squad to see what he's got." Bardok finished sternly.

"So he hasn't tested? This is serious Bardok." The Dean replied.

"I know sir, but I'm going to have faith in the Lancaster name." Bardok replied chuckling.

"Very well, then its settled. This is the Alpha Squad, start the preparations for the class ceremony." The Dean replied, quickly submitting to Bardok's trust. The group of teachers nodded at each other, confirming before departing the table.

* * *

Shin stood on the massive stage in front of hundreds of other students below him, cheering and yelling and shouting. The day was a clear blue sky with the high noon sun peering down on them. They stood in the middle of campus surrounded by tall Victorian style brick buildings. Beside him were other the other students who had done just as well as he had, all attention focused on them. The representatives of the first years of Lancaster School of Battle, the Alpha Squad. The top scorers and best of the best, to complete missions and battle other school's top squads to show that Lancaster has the best around. A lot of pressure, sure. But Shin was eating it up.

"Wow! I knew I did well on the exams but Alpha Squad?! BOOYAH!" Shin thought happily as he clenched a fist in excitement, seeing his school mate's welcomed applause. Various giggles and comments about them could be heard through the crowd, It was going to be a long year... Shin looked down the line of students next to him, examining each of the other member's faces carefully.

"They don't LOOK super good... but looks are deceiving I guess. And.. Well there's that kid with the huge sword... Oh well, I've got them all covered... Nothing gets through me." He thought to himself, letting a grin spread across his face.

A loud voice over intercoms broke the cheers and celebration. A scruffy elder man voice that demanded respect, the Dean.

"Welcome first year Lancaster students! This year promises to be a good one, considering the scores of your Alpha Squad. As you know, this is a celebration for your fellow classmates. They will represent all of you in competition and completing missions in your names. Each victory for them is a victory for all of us. They gave it their all to get into this squad and earned it through sweat and blood."

Shin couldn't help be grin as the Dean showered them all with comments.

"But now, the main event of the ceremony! The Alpha Team will demonstrate their abilities to all of you as they perform in the annual squad vs. squad kick off! This year's competitors will be the Alpha Squad the Sahri School of Battle. Of course we'll all watch here, but you will encounter each other at your destination. You guys were just going to fight each other, but something more interesting came up. It seems that a large colony of vicious insect-like demons has taken nest near campus under the radar. They're large powerful beasts and should be dealt with quickly. Their venom is lethal and their claws can shred so you can't go easy on them. Sahri will be there as well..."

"Demons?! Crap... at least Sahri will be there to back us up..." Shin thought through the Dean's speech. The Dean continued talking.

"But they will not be aiding you. They have been sent on the same mission. You will be in competition to see who can finish the mission first. Your mission is to exterminate the demons and bring back a blood sample for the labs to investigate. We need to know why they were able to build without us knowing... Combat between schools is allowed. Do what you need in order to finish first. Those are your orders... now go." The Dean said sternly.

Shin stood speechless as he stared at the Dean's incredible task laid before them.

"Wait...WHAT?!" Shin exclaimed aloud but his voice was consumed by the explosion of cheers from the crowd of students, ready to see their Alpha Squad take on such a dangerous task. "ugh...I guess there's no choice..."

(ooc: There it is, your intro will be at this ceremony, however you arrive or what you did there, we'll go straight into the mission next post probably. I apologize if this doesn't leave much to work with for opening but as you know, intros can do that sometimes.. haha)
