I had this in mind for a game concept months back. Thing is, I'm close to abandoning it cause I just don't have the staff to get it on the road:

I've basically had in mind Team Rocket RPG made in the style of GTA. You basically walk around and rob people of money and Pokemon and commit all sorts of criminal acts. I'm trying to bring out the mature side of Pokemon and for all the TR fans who wanna do something cool.

---------------------------------------------------------

Working Title: ? Pokemon: R

Objectives: Rise the ranks of Team Rocket by robbing civilians of their money and pokemon. Assist in missions to raise your reputation. Make the Boss proud and he will reward you.

Challenges: As your character rises the ranks, more difficult it is to rob people of their stuff or more difficult tasks will be assigned. If your reputation falls too low and you get locked in jail, you will Game Over.

Obstacles: Do gooders, tough trainers, Jennys, good guys.

Rules:

Anyone can be robbed of their Pokemon and money including existing TR members if they?re not alert enough. Property can be defaced and TR posters stuck in their place.

STEALING
Each civilian has a level of alertness when you talk to them. There are 4 levels of alertness.

1. Handicapped ? Can?t hear, can?t see, crippled etc. Includes people who are drug induced with alcohol or lacking intelligence.
2. Normal ? How people would normally behave in public. Sometimes when there?s a slip of attention, they can lose something.
3. Aware ? People who are aware of security. They probably had things stolen before and don?t want it to happen again. Thus, are more difficult to steal things from.
4. Paranoid ? People who are just overly conscious of people stealing things from them. Usually have body guards following them and high levels of security. Tough to rob.

Old people being the easiest to rob of their money and Pokemon. Most difficult to rob would be bosses of companies, gym leaders and any one on the extreme of good.

WEAPONS
A character is allowed to have up to 3 weapons depending on what type they are.
Default weapons range from
1. Knives: small knives, daggers, pocket knives etc.
2. Firearms: small hand guns, single shots,
3. bombs: small explosives, smoke bombs, flash bangs
4. Bludgeon: rods, sticks, batons.

If your character has a certain exotic weapon skill eg. Exotic Weapon ? Swords, Guns and etc. he/she is allowed to wield more powerful weapons such as

1. Swords: Katanas, blades, swords etc.
2. Large firearms: shotguns, rifles, machine guns
3. Bombs: tiny throwing explosives, tear gas, C4s and plastics.
4. Bludgeon: poles, boas, staffs
5. Etcs: cards, kunai, spears etc.

Weapons can be used to
1. Assault / threaten people
2. Kill people
3. Assist in theft. Eg. Hypnotic devices that coax people into handing over their stuff.

Houses can also be burgled by breaking into houses and taking their things if your character has the lock pick skill.

HIDING
The no.1 thing thief?s do to prevent getting found out. Hiding involves running very quickly into other buildings/alleys/ corners and keeping out of sight from cops. Hiding also involves jumping into boxes, crates or other containers.

A character can also escape cops by disguise or by using a stealth device.

REPUTATION
Every time the player completes a mission, his/her reputation level rises within the ranks of Team Rocket and is paid by the boss pretty well. He/she is also allowed to keep a Pokemon given by the boss as a reward. The higher the level, the rarer the Pokemon.

Character?s reputation also increases when they 1. Promote TR widely by secretly putting up posters everywhere or making an appearance in public places i.e putting up ?a show? and disappearing. 2.Helping out at important missions. 3. Winning Pokemon fights. 4. Not getting caught and put in Jail.

JAIL AND GAME OVER
Your character will get tossed in jail if:

1. Your character is not of a high enough level and robs someone of a very high alert difficulty and gets caught.
2. Your character gets found out by cops if a job fails and you didn?t run away fast enough.
3. You get caught by cops if a civilian reports you if they see you doing anything criminal like.

If any of these things happen, your character will be tossed in jail and have to be bailed. Each time a character is tossed in jail, his/her reputation goes down. Player is Game Overed at the end of the day if the Boss refuses to bail the character out of jail for the reason of poor reputation. Unless your character has a high level skill of lock picking, the character will be able to escape without the boss? bail.

MULTIPLE OUTCOMES
Once the character reaches the maximum Reputation level of level 100, he/she will officially be known as the Boss? right hand person. The player is free to rob more people, collect more pokemon and probably assist in more missions. They may also choose to raise their physical levels at the Training Room in the HQ or raise their pokemon levels by fighting with random trainers.

Note the character cannot overthrow the Boss. ( I think that?ll be a whole different story altogether.)

(OPTIONAL) PHYSICAL TRAINING
The TR HQ has the facility to train your character to a certain physical level. By going to the gym regularly and playing the mini games there like

1. Running the Track
2. Weight Training
3. Sparring

Your character?s physical training improve. Guys get more bulky, girls get more fit. Character?s bio will update itself once a certain fitness level is attainted.

(OPTIONAL) POKEMON TRAINING
Pokemon levels improve just like the regular pokemon games but will learn complex skills faster. Your character can only train pokemon by having fights with others. Pokemon gains exp by losing as well. It?s recommended you do this so you don?t lose in fights and have to run.

REWARDS
Every time the player completes a mission, his/her reputation level rises within the ranks of Team Rocket and is paid by the boss pretty well. He/she is also allowed to keep a Pokemon given by the boss as a reward. The higher the level, the rarer the Pokemon.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Reputation level: Rises when completing missions, winning fights, promoting TR, not getting caught and put in jail.
Physical level: Improves when training in the training facility in the Rocket HQ. The higher the physical level, the faster the character can run, do physical activities like carry things and the harder the bash rate when assaulting a civilian unarmed. Also ups the intimidation level. It is entirely optional to raise physical levels.
Money: Can be stolen by other civilians or paid by the boss. Money can be used to buy more complex weapons or wasted at the Casino.

This is actually very interesting, and, honestly, it does spark some Ideas in my head. If I wasn't working on POTW, I would begin work on this.

Just thought I'd put it here to see what everyone else thinks about it.

Haven't started any artwork or stuff yet because I have no staff and I'm currently busy with other things : (

Wow, that's really developed, and really original*. Kind of like a fanfic I'm going to write.... err, kinda. :D I'm working on a Pokemon game in C++, and the coding/compiling system should be flexible enough to allow something like that when it's done, so.... well, but, I'm sure someone will have picked up the thread by then. ....This idea is gold! Gold, I tell ya! ;)

*I've never played GTA :P

I've actually made a mini gta style game in rpgmaker, where you could get into cars and run people over and stuff- i'll put it as a extra in my pokemon silk game (part of the "Calis Projects")

Well I disagree with Pidgeot500; the game isn't really original at all. You're using the idea of a game that has already been made.

However, it's a great idea. I wouldn't be of any help to you making the game because I'm not good at that stuff but I'd sure like to play it.

Well basically I'm just trying to turn the concept of Pokemon into something more.

I mean, I'm a hardcore TR fan and I've always wanted to see a game made for them at least. And well, the fact it does sound a lot like GTA, the fact you have Pokemon and etc makes things fun.

The fact I purposely bought GTA: Vice City for the PC just to check out how the game play works. (and I love it!)

I came up with 25 story missions all in one day. It kind of crosses over from the Pokemon Adventures manga as well as Team Rocket in the anime and game.
