Two cycles of the Avatar World have passed with no war or major incidents. A great peace has settled over the land that has continued under the current Avatar: the young fire bender Long Lian. Much like Aang and Korra before her, she came to find out she was the Avatar at a much earlier age than usual. She was born to non-bender parents so Long Lian didn't receive much training when it came to her bending prowess. In fact she wasn't aware of her abilities until a passing traveler noticed her using both firebending and earthbending to properly maintain her family's farm. The girl and her family were quickly swooped up by the Order of the White Lotus to receive the proper training she had been missing the first fourteen years of her life.

However, the Spirit World was incredibly unhappy with the the development of the Avatar. On the winter solstice, when the boundaries between the two worlds were at their closest, they sent a horde of spirit warriors to test the Avatar. If she managed to defeat them all, she would be a worthy Avatar. And if she perished, the cycle would begin anew and hopefully a more worthy Avatar would be born. The spirits drew the girl from her room in the middle of the night and swarmed her in an onslaught of attacks. The guards from the Order quickly realized what was going on and ran to her side. The poorly trained girl was being overwhelmed and her physical body was near its limits. The skilled benders of the Order managed to drive the spirits away but not before one of the lead spirits drew the girl's soul from her body and encased it in a small jar. The guards attempted to grab the jar from the cackling spirit but it quickly disappeared back to its plane of existence away from prying humans as the solstice ended.

The girl's body laid on the ground in a deep coma. While her body still lived, her spiritual energy was nearly depleted. Lucky for Long Lian she was the Avatar so her body managed to maintain a sort of support system to keep her alive. But it could only last for so long without the soul nearby. So the Order of the White Lotus came up with an idea: on the summer solstice they would enter the Spirit World and take back the Avatar's soul.

They knew it wouldn't be an easy task and worried who they should send. In the hundreds of years of peace, armies had been poorly organized and trained. Most benders used their abilities for non-combative roles and lacked training in fighting. The Order knew there were plenty of powerful benders out there though and needed to get them all in one place to "test their worth." So in the outskirts of the Ba Sing Se, a giant arena was constructed. Infused with mystical powers, the arena would be the ultimate test of any bender's abilities. Agents were sent to get the word out of the tournament that would surely entice those who seek the fame, fortune and power that was lacking in the world recently.

And you will be playing as one of the benders who sign up for the tournament. Smaller tournaments were held around the world and the winners of these tournaments were granted access to the main tournament. Just remember that you don't know the true purpose of the whole ordeal yet. You think its just win the massive prizes awarded to the winner, NOT to rescue the Avatar's lost soul.

If an accepted applicant has made their character from a location, try to have your character come from a different place. List of locations can be found here! Try to make the characters interesting and fun. Each should have an unique ability that makes them stand out from other benders of their style.

Rules
  • Only one bender per person.
  • No controlling other's characters without permission. You can play around with what the results of their bending does but no directly controlling their bodies.
  • No killing other characters.
  • I'd rather there be no swearing at all. Damn is acceptable however.

Now here are my characters:

Name: Songorra
Age: 22
Nation of Origin: Southern Water Tribe
Bending Style: Waterbending - Songorra specializes in mainly the ice aspect of water bending. He can rain icicles on the opponent and freeze the water in their body to slow movement. His special skill is augmenting the chemicals in his body with his bending to increase the size of his body exponentially.
Physical Appearance: Songorra stands at 5'8" and 150 pounds normally. When in his special "super" state he stands at 6'7" and nearly 350 pounds. Songorra's skin is always very tan but contrasted by his white, snow-like hair. His hair used to be a dark brown but years of messing with his body's chemical composition has left it without color. It is died in a top knot much like the famous Sokka. Much like his partner Yiuxing his body is covered in tattoos that glow when performing bending. He wears the skin of a polar bear dog with its head worn like a hood and the rest covering his back. The rest of his outfit is atypical of a Southern Water tribe member: blue sleeveless top, darker blue shorts and white sandals. Even in his normal state he is a very muscular and imposing man. While not tall his body is very well toned.
Personality: He is the more outspoken between Yiuxing and himself. Songorra isn't afraid to intimidate the opponent through flashy displays of his waterbending prowess. While Yiuxing's success comes through her intelligence and planning Songorra is an accomplished bender and martial artist. His ego is massive and he has only had a few moments of humility in his life. After moving from probending to assassin work, his heart became incased in ice as he moved to the colder aspects of bending. He misses the days of mindless probending with his friends but he has accepted that this is his life work now. Songorra lacks common sense and will often get himself in trouble with authorities.
History:Songorra was born in the Southern Water Tribe to two loving parents. He was their fifth child in six years and because of this Songorra grew up in a very hectic environment. Songorra's mother was very active in the study of water bending and bringing back the Southern Tribe style that still hadn't completely recovered from the 100 Year War genocide. She was disappointed at first that Songorra hadn't shown signs of bending like his siblings and sometimes forgot to pay attention to him. Instead Songorra went hunting with his father and trained his body. One day while out with his father he managed to freeze an angry Seal Whale to prevent it from attacking his father. He too had in fact been born a bender but hadn't been under the right conditions to exhibit the abilities. Songorra's mother quickly put him through the paces and surpassed his siblings in waterbending. As he reached his teenaged years he used his waterbending abilities to fish and hunt - something that had been frowned upon in the tribe for many moons. In a confrontation with the tribal leader, he bending nearby boiling water and burned the man's face.

Frightened of the consequences he quickly left his hometown and set off for the north. He ended up in Republic City, living in a shoddy home with other wayward benders. It was here he met his best friend Yiuxing who was passing through the city for a performance with her dance company. They quickly bonded and became inseparable. Another bender, an Air Nomad named Unngi, became tight knit with them as well and the three began to enter novice probending tournaments together. Their growing success in these tournaments caught the eye of big agent who quickly signed them into the big leagues. With their nearly perfect synergy with one another and competent bending skills they quickly ascended the ranks. Within two years of being in the league they won their first championship and we're lauded as heroes in the city.

Unfortunately, Unngi disappeared off a cliff during a training accident and was presumed to have died in the fall. On top of this the two of them lost their backe without the charismatic Unngi because as the man said "You two just aren't that likeable." Desperate for money, the two of them started taking up small crime jobs along with discovering their knack at "elimination jobs." They took precautions to try to not end the target's life but sometimes it was unavoidable. Much like before their reputation grew and they were getting offers for jobs all over the world. What they wanted the most though was to get back into probending. So together they entered their respective hometown tournaments to get a place in the tournament. Songorra did so in disguise to prevent himself from getting arrested. They plan on doing ANYTHING to win the tournament and getting a place back on the circuit.
Miscellaneous Info: He has a massive fear of storms and will often stand immobilized during them.

Name: Yǔnxīng
Age: 24
Nation of Origin: Fire Nation - Ember Island
Bending Style: Firebending - She is a trained dancer. Yǔnxīng dazzles both opponents and patrons alike by shaping her fire into animals. The dancing performer is a facade for her true profession as a top assassin in which she uses varying weapons and devices combined with her firebending to eliminate her targets. She has also mastered the rare lightning bending and employs it skillfully.
Physical Appearance: Yǔnxīng is famous for being one of the few members of the Fire Nation to have blond hair. In one of her famous tricks she sets it on fire and takes on the appearance of a fiery siren. She wears a metallic golden bikini top along with silver harem pants accented by her golden silk shoes. Yǔnxīng's skin is very pale and covered in distinctive tattoos on her abdomen, arms and back. On her waist she carries a bag full of explosive stones that she uses to lay traps or escape dangerous situations.
Personality: Yǔnxīng is calm, cool and collected at all times. She is a master of seduction and will do anything to accomplish her objective. Her idol is the famed Lunatic Princess Azula as evidenced by the elaborate tattoo of the figure on her back. She differs from the Princess in that she has complete control of her emotions. She is not completely void of emotion and she does have a soft spot for animals and children. She refuses to murder anyone with small children at home. She takes pride in her skill and is constantly honing her power. She isn't necessarily a firebending prodigy but is not one to be underestimated. What she lacks in firebending skill she makes up for in intelligence and skill with weapons.
History: Yǔnxīng was born on Ember Island to a family of performers. Her father and mother often left with their troupe to travel the world, leaving Yǔnxīng at home with her aunt, grandmother and cousins. She took this alone time to gain a knack for dancing and was soon sent away to train at the same school her parents trained at. It was also around this time she began to develop firebending skills and was impressing her teachers by incorporating it into her dancing. After two years of training she joined her parent's troupe and became the rising star amongst the newer performers. Yiuxing longed for something more and between performances she would often wander the city to meet people at bars, get into fights with others and cause general havoc. Her growing reputation as a scoundrel forced her own parents to fire her and leave her behind in Republic City after her latest arrest. She was bailed out of a jail by an Airbender named Unngi she had met and saved during one her brawls. He took her back to his shoddy apartment where he lived with several other layabout benders. It was with them she learned to hone her bending skills more and took up practicing with the blades she is famous for now. It was also here she met Songorra and developed a lifelong friendship with him.

After Unngi apparently perished she took it upon herself to develop no more friendships and protect the only one she had left with Songorra. She took on the brunt of most of the crime jobs so he wouldn't be at risk of death. She wished for the less dangerous days of living in the arena and would do anything to get them back. So she quickly blew through Ember Island's entrance tournament and ensured Songorra got through his. Together she plans on quickly dispatching the competition in the main tournament through any means necessary...
Miscellaneous Info: She owns a Catacoon named Isis that Yǔnxīng uses to scout out locations and distract guards. It hates Songorra though and refuses to listen to him.

Name: Gou
Age:
17
Nation of Origin:
Earth Kingdom (Green Swamplands)
Bending Style: Waterbending - Gou mainly has a defensive type of bending. Apart from using regular morass water, Gou uses plants and roots (from mainly mangrove trees) by bending the water in them.

Appearance:
Gou is quite "big-boned", she stands at around 5'7" and weighs 134 pounds. She has an earthy/dusty haircolour, and a lighter tan skincolour, with dim blue eyes. Her hair falls in unkempt bangs alongside- and over her face, with a ponytail held together by a small rope, and a few red flowers hanging from the side. She wears lots of layers of cloth, and has a linen piece wrapped on her shoulders. Gou walks on a high wooden pair of shoes to keep her feet above the swamp water. On her back she carries a reed basket attached with ropes and a little pouch hanging from it which contains dried water caltrops. In the basket she carries a few scrolls on aquatic botany and roots. There's a few marks over her body, of which mainly on her face, from previous run-ins she had while traveling. She has an Earth Kingdom-style belt with two little jugs on the side with morass water in it.

Personality:
While being calm and quite passive, she inherited the solid and blunt personality from her father. Despite her passivity, she has a natural curiosity for things which acts as a great motivator, however she has a hard time controlling it and it has gotten her in some trouble in the past. Gou strives for knowledge and learning about different kinds of waterbending. She is not naturally angry and is a little slow-paced, but is very patient and eager to learn. Gou has a very big apetite. Her favourite food are fish and water caltrops, which she catches and collects herself. She has her own fishing rod made from a mangrove tree back at her home, and spends part of her time with fishing, in various types of water she comes by. She doesn't have a set time for dinner or breakfast and usually eats whenever she feels like it, and can get moody if she's hungry.

History:
Gou's parents passed away at an early age, and without any close relatives to take care of her, she was left to her fend and started to travel and wander on her own. They lived together in the great Green Swamplands, where she developed a fondness for different kinds of aquatic plants and roots. Gou's mother was a Swamplands waterbender just like herself, while her father was an earthbender who had lived in Omashu, before meeting her mother. It's where Gou had spent some of her childhood years, and so it was where she set out her travels to soon after she was on her own.

Miscellaneous:
Gou tends to like a hot, humid climate. She cannot stand the cold and only likes rain when it is warm. She is not very familiar with people but has an interest for animals, and has a pet Catgator named [name coming lol], who travels alongside her and rests on her basket from time to time. He might look ferocious but is actually very docile towards humans.

Here's my entry! So excited yay

Name: Ghazan
Age: 19
Nation of Origin: Earth Kingdom (North-western regions)
Bending Style: Earthbending - Being a nomad, Ghazan has come into contact with many different kinds of bending and types of terrain. While he's not a master at any particular skill, he combines different styles and even incorporates non-bending styles into his technique. He is also known for shaping rock around his hands into crude fist weapons. The styles he is familiar with include sand bending, mud bending, traditional earth bending and to some extent metalbending. Lately he has also been figuring out how to bend glass, and he's been getting better at it. He uses a glass bracelet in this technique.

Appearance: Ghazan is a bit rugged. He has short, scruffy dark hair and unkempt facial hair. His eyes are bright green and his skin is lightly tanned. His height is 5'9'' and he weighs about 150 pounds. He prefers to walk bare-footed, as it keeps him in contact with the earth. He prefers to stay in the clothes he wore with his family, because it reminds him of them. He wearsa pair of khaki knee-length pants that bundle up at the end, to keep sand and dirt out. His tunic is dark green and short sleeved. His full nomadic garb consists of multiple layers of cloth over his normal clothes. He usually doesn't wear his full nomadic garb, taking off the outer layers of clothing depending on the climate.

Personality: Ghazan is a quiet young man, he is generally calm and easygoing, but can lash out if angered. He is used to a slow-paced life and may seem slow-paced himself. He can also be very persistent at times. While this can be good at times, he can also be very stubborn. Ghazan is very good with animals as his family had a lot of different animals with them. His favourite animal is the Camelephant.

History: Ghazan comes from a nomadic family that travels the plains fo the North-western regions of the earth kingdoms. His family does not consist of only relatives, they're a close group of people that live together while travelling. It is tradition for the young people of the group to venture into the world when they mature. They travel around for a year to find out what they want in their lives. At the end of this they get to choose what they want to do in their lives, stay travelling alone, settle down somewhere or return to the group. Ghazan has chosen to stay travelling for a bit longer to experience everything he can before returning to his family. It was during his travels that he stumbled upon a bending tournament. He was eager to test his skills and to his surprise he won the tournament and was entered into the second round.

Miscellaneous: Due to his nomadic life he has been cut off from the civilized world for large parts of his life. He tends to get overly excited at sights he is not used to seeing (for example the walls of Ba Sing Se). He's also doesn't trust mechanical constructs very much.

OK I'm done! Let me know if something needs to be changed.

Name: Zen Kai
Age: 22
Nation of Origin: Fire Nation (Shu Jing)
Bending Style: Fire bending- Zen has a unique fire bending style he refers to as 'the volcano', because, like a volcano, it erupts in large bursts towards his enemies. The attacks take up quite a bit of energy, and aren't nearly as fast as other fire-bending styles. However, the attacks are much more potent, and are also quite a bit more larger than others. What Zen lacks in speed and accuracy he makes up with power and a generally wider range of attack. He uses an all-offense approach to fighting, relying on overpowering his enemies within the first waves of his attacks before they have a chance to respond with an attack back. This usually eliminated the need for defensive abilities. Prolonged fights are usually his downfall, as his particular bending takes up a lot of his energy, and continuous usage drains him out.

Appearance:
Zen Kai stands at 6 feet tall. He is a fit and well-built individual, but not to the extent of being overly muscled. His hair is jet-black and quite short, but is spiked in a backwards motion. His eyes are gold, like many others of the Fire Nation. But others who look at them also notice a rather dull shade than the usually bright found on many others. Also noticeable on his face is a scar beginning at the corner of his left eye and traveling down across his cheek. Zen also has multiple other scars across his body, including three seeming to be in a pattern on his forearm, a rather large one beginning at the top of his shoulder blade and slashing across his chest diagonally, ending close to the middle of his front body, and one more in an 'X' mark on the upper left corner of his back.

However, for the most part, most of the scars are hidden because of his clothes. Zen wears a red-brown vest-shirt to match with a reddish-brown pair of pants and black boots, similar in the color as is custom within the Fire Nation. He also wears a pair of brown armbands that cover his wrists.

Personality: Zen's eyes alone could give you one description on his personality, but it may only be partially correct. Appearing dull and weary, Zen's eyes, to those observant enough to notice, give off the appearance of him being uninterested and apathetic. To an extent, it is true. He has long since been aloof and unconcerned of much that goes on around him. One might often catch him taking a nap, or perhaps staring off into the sky, counting clouds. It is often because little else among people piques his interest. His lack of interest can be translated into lethargy, and that also to an extent could be true, as he rarely wants to do much when he is in this state. He is often called cold-hearted in these moods, as he tends not to care really for anything it seems, perhaps even if someone were to drop dead in front of him. When in these moods, which is quite often, he usually dislikes talking with anyone at all, or really any kind of contact.

Then, there's another side of Zen; it is the one that comes out when he is about to get into a fight. Zen absolutely loves to fight. His personality almost seems to make a complete U-turn when he is challenged to a fight, whatever the circumstance. His lack of interest becomes passion, his eyes almost seeming to light up with flames themselves, as he devotes himself to the particular bout, until the contest is ended, one way or another. Zen adores fighting so much, it is rare that he would ever back down from one when challenged, unless an extremely unusual situation arises where he is unable to, or unwilling to. But that would be exceptionally rare. Because of his particular fighting style, however, fights aren't usually dragged out very long, them beginning explosively and then ending usually rather swiftly, one way or another. Once this occurs, Zen reverts back to his previous mood, waiting to be 'awoken' once more.

Because of his personality type, Zen respects others who takes fights as seriously as he does. He admires strength, whatever particular one that may be, and hold people who entertains him in fights, whether putting up a good challenge or managing to defeat him, in high regard.

It would be relatively impossible to make Zen angry, mainly because his personality doesn't usually give room for that.

History: Zen was born in the peaceful town of Shu Jing. To one with Zen's personality, it was not the ideal location to grow up in.His father was a soldier in the army, not a particularly high rank, but still one he was proud of. He always wanted Zen to follow in his footsteps one day. Zen didn't know if the life of the uniformed man was right for him, though. Zen had a rather quiet early years going into his childhood, leading a rather uneventful life, often involving lazing about the house, around the yard, or attending school. He wasn't particularly talkative in school, but he did manage to make a few friends, although they soon became more like acquaintances. As Zen grew older and established an identity for himself, he became less inclined to talk to them just because of some norm saying that he had to. He was sometimes picked on by others for being too quiet, and often because he wouldn't do anything back. That was, until a certain boy picking on his went a bit too far. When the boy began physically picking on Zen, Zen decided to fight back. The result was his first full fist-fight, to which he won, more because the other boy eventually stopped punch back after Zen's initial barrage of punches. Needless to say, Zen enjoyed it, really enjoyed it, and whenever some kids picked on him, he would sometimes purposefully initiate a fight when one may not have been the initial result. Zen began getting quite good at it too. This would often get him scoldings from instructors, and then eventually his parents. Zen would never bother explaining the situation to them, suggesting that they initiated contact first, but rather decided to let them stick with the idea that he was simply an undisciplined child.

As he grew older and began studying fire-bending, he approached it the same way as normal fighting: hit them hard, hit them fast, and don't let up. He developed a unique fire-bending style that suited him quite well, but often earned him scolding from his teachers because of the lack of a balanced attack and defense, his opting instead for a full frontal assault. Zen didn't care. It worked for him, and that was all that counted. Still, as life continued, he found it harder and harder to find anybody serious to fight. School fights were fun while they lasted, but with the combination of his parent's constant disproval of him fighting in school, and the eventual lack of serious challenges, Zen was at a loss. When the news of the tournaments began, Zen didn't hesitate to begin participating and sign up. He didn't mind the end prize, but he fought more for the fighting's sake, not the end result. It certainly looked like his life was turning around, for the better.

Miscellaneous:
Zen actually loves the rain, finding it soothing. In terms of animals, he owns none nor does he want one.

Might I reserve a spot as a firebender? *U*d

Name: Qiu Tian Wang
Age: 18
Nation of Origin: Fire Nation, Fire Fountain City
Bending Style: Firebending - For many years, the only true benders trained in the art of battle were the guards who stood at the borders of the Fire Fountain City, and the police who kept the peace amongst the hard laboring citizens. But everyone knew that the truly powerful benders were the factor workers, who refined their abilities day after day deep inside the dark flaming factories, powering the flaming machines with their bending ability. As a result, Tian's bending relies primarily on sustained flame that seems as if it were a contest of stamina, until she unleashes hopefully well timed bursts of power in order to catch her steadily tiring opponent off guard. Her style is not conventional or graceful by any means, as she learned and mastered her bending simply by brawling with others.

Physical Appearance: With signature golden eyes, and jet black hair, Tian is very prominently from a pure Fire Nation lineage. Her pale creamy skin is miraculously unmarked despite her hard work inside the factories of Fire Fountain City that resulted in her lean muscled and flat chested build. However, on her right arm is a long, snaking scar that extends to her elbow, the evidence of a failed attempt to bend lightning and the most prominent mar on her otherwise smooth skin. Standing at 5'5", Tian has great posture that only serves to accentuate her height, and she always keeps her head held high. With hair cropped short for convenience's sake, Tian's hairstyle barely reaches past her chin; the heavily layered cut is parted on the far right, leaving half of her face covered by a cascade of hair, while the other half is pinned back from her unobscured eye by a Chinese knotted clip with a red tassle. The tassle itself extends down to her almost always bared shoulders, as her attire consists primarily of sleeveless black tops all sporting high mandarin collars. Her shirts all extend just to her hips, covering parts of her red pants tucked into black boots. She has very little qualms with showing her skin however, and when she chooses to wear more casual clothing, normally opts for a black tube top that bares her midriff. Upon her left hand is a black work glove that she rarely removes, and a longer glove that extends to her upper arm on her right. These gloves, dyed black by soot and coal over time, are her favorite pair and act as her nostalgic reminder of home.

Personality: Appearing calm and collected at first, it's not long before Tian's true nature is discovered. Her fuse is short, her temper quite literally explosive, and her patience nonexistent. With the demeanor of a spoiled princess, Tian doesn't take no for an answer and stops at nothing to get what she wants when she wants it, often disregarding risk or repercussions. At times, this can be a redeeming quality in the sense that she is steadfast and independent, believing strongly in her opinions and morals and being unable to be shaken from them no matter the temptations. But at other times, she is stubborn, frustrating, and causes unnecessary conflict with her thoughtless, scathing words, brutal honesty and self-important attitude. Hardly lacking in confidence, Tian is the type of independent girl who doesn't care what anyone thinks of her, so long as she herself lives without restraint.

Tian is also confident in her abilities, and as such has a hard time facing failure and loss. Her bad sportsmanship makes her a sore loser or a haughty and aggravating victor, which often leaves her alone and bitter at the end of the day. She treats many people like the ants under her feet, seeing them not as friends but rather as stepping stones to greatness, and she's not reserved about letting them know what she thinks about them. However, this is not to say that Tian doesn't know her place. She is respectful of her elders and superiors, earning her a reputation for being a conniving two-faced fox. But if there is one truly redeeming point to Tian, it is that in reality, she is not two-faced at all. Tian is a girl who would never lie, for a lie would tarnish her spotless pride. She is a girl who would fight fair and square, even if her opponent employs all the dirty tricks in the book. And as a result, once Tian's elusive loyalty and friendship is gained, it is an alliance that is stronger than steel, an alliance that can only be broken by the greatest betrayals.

History: Born and raised in Fire Fountain City, Tian was the best of her age group-- the best firebender, the best machine worker, and amongst the girls, she was without doubt the prettiest of them all. It was no wonder that at a young age the adults began to jokingly refer to her as Princess Tian, what with her strutting around the factories like she owned them. Her family was simple, consisting of a father who worked long days to fuel the machinery, a mother who could not bend and so kept the home in order, and a younger brother who was more interested in books than he was in machines. Despite her mother's inability to bend, she was a woman with an iron will, and so raised her children with traditional values of knowing their place in the world and not stepping out of line. But out of her mother's view, Tian was the local bully, though more so to boys than to girls. She would get into fights, scratch, bite, and bend until the boys ran away with their tails between their legs. Getting into trouble was no stranger to Tian, but punishment was working the factory machinery, which was a perfect way for her to release all her frustration. As she grew older, it was clear to the adults that Tian was an exceptional fire bender, and an exceptional troublemaker who was slowly beginning to yearn for a world beyond the factories. Before her powers became too explosive, she was sent to participate in a local tournament held between Fire Fountain City and other cities, where the adults hoped that Tian would learn that she was not as great as she supposed herself to be. However this plan backfired, as she emerged victorious from the competition, and happily set off for the main event.

Miscellaneous Info: Tian is awful with animals. She won't admit it, but she's deathly afraid of the little (or big) buggers, and they don't usually seem particularly fond of her either....

May I actually reserve a spot as an Earth Bender from Ba Sing Se? I tried really hard not to join, but I couldn't help myself... I am a big Avatar fan.

All spots are reserved for a week. If no major progress is made on their signups they'll be removed from the list.

May I reserve the last air bender at the Northern temple please?

Edit: DONE!!

Name: Hiro

Age: 18

Nation of Origin (Air Nomads, Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation): Air Nomads, Northern Temple

Bending Style: Air bending- Although air bending was always seen as a peaceful art, Hiro uses it almost completely of what his ancestors did. He uses it to fight fast and evasively, able to pack compressed bodies of air into punches and kicks. Alongside his swift movements, Hiro is able to conjure up the air immediately as he moves, knocking someone off balance, pushing them away, and even to deflect attacks. Hiro can create a small funnel of air as well, either to do as stated before hand or to take small projectiles such as stones or other things and send them flying at high speed. Generally, he doesn't use weapons but when in a tight situation, he does have short sword in which his air bending can increase it's speed as well as sharpness.

Appearance: Being the son of both a Air bending monk and fire nation resident, his skin is in the middle, making him look like a Caucasian. The man stands at an average six foot, one inch and weighs around 180 pounds. His eyes are a mysterious grey, giving him an strong yet wise and kind look. He, unlike most air benders, possesses shoulder length black hair that he tends to have hanging down to "soar with the wind" he says. His body is a general build for a bender, fit and athletic, but not huge. Although he is one of the Air Nomads by birth, his only tattoos are two arrow shapes, one on each hand but no farther.

On to clothing, Hiro mixes the two colors of his respective nations. Hiro wears a red, orange, and black tunic, it's sleeves cut off and the tunic itself tucked into his pants. His pants are a bit baggy, but tight enough as to not counteract motion. His pants end below his knee where a pair of long, black socks reach down to his pair of flip flop like sandals. The only jewelry he wears is a simple bracelet with the symbol from all four nations.

Personality: Hiro is an easy-going and adventurous man. Always wanting to have fun, he shows off to others, particularly women, and easily lets his bending prowess give him support. Due to his easy-going and kind attitude, it is quite hard for him NOT to make friends. The man is always true to his word and loves to help people in even the littlest of ways. This is mainly because of his large set of morals that help him keep the idea of right and wrong as well as little parts life that he thinks allows him to do anything as long as it is for the good of the nations.

Hiro is never one to be stereotyped as an average Air Nomad Monk. He doesn't believe in the general belief that peace gives one enlightenment but that doing what is right does so. This shows that he is wise in his young age, though a bit rebellious.

When a person breaks one of his common codes, such as hurting others for no reason, his attitude will change from one of kindness to one of anger. He is disgusted by the acts of so many people and he'll always want to challenge them to a duel of sorts, for the loss of a better word, to teach them a lesson.

History: Hiro is from a widely, multicultural background. His mother, Rika Mori, is a fire bender descended from both earth and fire benders. His father, Ken Makoto, however, is solely of air bender heritage. Being born of these two in the Northern Air Temple, Hiro received the less dominant air bending gene.

The boy was raised right there in that temple for years, taught by the few masters they had there. His life was simple there and hadn't had the least amount of adventure there at all. Hiro hated it. He wanted to do things that other types of benders were able to do, not follow a path of enlightenment that he didn't exactly think was true. At six, he begged his parents for a change of pace and allowance to become something more than a monk. His mother encouraged him, as she liked his pride in his thought, yet his father met him stubbornly. He never necessarily got mad at him but it was obvious he had a small gleam of disappointment in his eyes.

He instead went to the elder monks who chose to give him permission only as long as he accomplished his air bending mastery. The boy loved the idea and immediately took off on a brisk training regimen, completing the task within three years. Although he had became a full-fledged master in the eyes of the elders, he decided to only allow a small amount of the tattoos be placed on his body, specifically the ones on the back of his hands.

With that, he bid farewell to his family, much to his father's displeasure, and left for the Fire Nation. From there, Hiro continued his training, taking an offensive face to it as well as learning to use weapons. He continued to travel for the ten years following and soon became a master of his own thoughts.

Miscellaneous: He has a pet Ring-tailed Winged Lemur named Rei and is searching for a Flying Bison that will take him as a partner.

Name:
Tama

Age:
20

Gender:
Male

Nation of Origin:
Earth Kingdom (A small village which is yet to be named...)

Bending Style:
Tama mainly focuses on defending against the enemy and breaking the strong/fluid stances of his opponents to minimize his offense. He breaks stances by sending rocks flying in the most awkward places for a bender to defend and when the bender's stance breaks Tama attacks in a succession, so his opponent won't have time to respond and so Tama doesn't have to utilize so many attacks. Another way Tama can break a bender's stance is to use the earth under his enemies feet to his advantage. Either way, he can usually get the upper hand in a matter of time. Tama is very creative when defending and his imagination does him wonders when he is defending against onslaught of attacks.

Appearance:
Tama has short brown hair and brown eyes. He has a light tan from all the traveling he has done. Unlike most earth benders who are usually bulky, Tama is not. He is not as muscular, but he is lean and has some muscle within him. Most earth benders are tall, but again Tama is the opposite. He stands at about 5'2". He has somewhat of a large nose. His ears stick up a little bit as if he were an elf and he has full lips. He usually wears a sleeveless green shirt and thin green bottoms that reach near his angles. When he is cold he tends to wear a light green coat. He walks barefooted like most earthbenders because it keeps them connected to the ground.

Personality:
Tama is a very shy a individual. He is also very scared of himself. He trembles when he talks and/or is verbally approached by someone. He stutters and doesn't voice his desires to anyone. When Tama is bending, his fear shows, although he can mask it pretty well. Very experienced benders can tell that Tama is afraid when he is bending, as to why; they are not very sure about. (The reason why will be in the history section.)

With the friends he has, Tama treasures them dearly. He always thinks of them before himself and constantly worries over them. He worries about them being hurt and is afraid that they'll die. He is especially afraid if Tama himself is the cause of their deaths. Because of these fears and worries, Tama is a bit of a shy mother hen and looks out for those close to them, even if they believe he isn't capable.

Tama also happens to be gay, even though he doesn't vocally declare it. He is very shy around men he finds attractive and will often clam up when he is talking to someone he likes very much.

History:
Tama grew up in a small village with barely any memories of his parents. All his life he was taken care of by his older brother, Ping, who in Tama's eyes is more of a parent to him than his real parents were. He was the middle child of the family, Ping being the older one and Tan being the younger one. Tama used to be a very happy child. He was easily angered and he was loud and rude. He didn't know when to shut up and enjoyed to talk. When he bended he was all about power and attack and barely worried about defending. He preferred to overpower his opponents rather than defend and wait for openings.

However, one day this changed. When he was eighteen he had discovered that Tan had his innocence forcefully stolen. Out of complete and utter fury, Tama attempted to injure the man that stole his little brother's innocence. However, Tan, being the peaceful one and the one that didn't like seeing people fighting, defended his alleged rapist and ended up dying in the process. (Tan wasn't a bender.) Ever since Tan died, Tama's attitude completely changed. He became quiet and shy. He became much more afraid of the world and himself. He began to worry more and more about people getting injured. His bending even took a complete 360. Instead of his usual all out power maneuvers, Tama began defending and breaking stances of other benders. To this day he has blamed himself for Tan's death.

A year had passed since the death of Tan and Tama overheard Ping crying about Tan one day. Hearing him cry the way Ping did made Tama "realize that it was hard on Ping to live with the person who murdered his brother. So when Tama had the chance, he attempted to make his brother's life much easier to live by running away. What he didn't know was that Ping grieved over Tama and that he went out searching for him when he noticed Tama was gone. (Ping has yet to find Tama yet.)

He entered the bending tournament to win prizes, so that he can send it home to Ping, unknown to him Ping isn't even at home in the first place. He is hoping he could repay all the pain he caused him with the prizes, of course he himself knows it was very foolish to do so, but he wanted to try anyway.

Miscellaneous:
Tama use to love watching dramatic performances with Tan when they were younger. However ever since Tan died, Tama stopped because it brought too many memories back. (I am not sure what to put here so….)

I'm considering adding one more spot for each bending but I think it would be hard to maintain an RP with 16 members. I'll PM you first if a spot opens!

Name: Shin

Age: 19

Nation of Origin: Water Tribe ( Northern Water Tribe )

Bending Style: Waterbending – Shin specializes in water and ice bending and healing as well. His waterbending style is very free and flexible, being inspired by a former waterbender , Katara, he tried to learn from her techniques and then adapt or evolve them to his own way of bending. The most grateful thing he learned from her was to draw water out of the air and clouds when there isn't any water source. His ice and is very versatile and surprising as he can us it quite well, and not just in a simple manner, that of moving ice or creating spikes from the ground but to a whole new level. He can create any kind of thing out of ice from a tiny sculpture of a bird to deadly weapons or armour that he can use. When talking about healing he hasn't mastered everything yet but the bunch of scrolls his partner carries will help him, he knows the basics. His most deadly weapon is his imagination and intuition, being able to manipulate water and ice to their fullest. All in all his bending style revolves around an old style mixed with his own imagination.

Appearance:

How Shin looks like
--->>
Spoiler:

How he is dressed like --->>
Spoiler:

Shin stands at about 5'9" and is slim but well built. His skin colour is a light tone of brown that goes well with his azure blue eyes that look like the depths of the sea. Shin's hair is dark brown and he keeps it spiky and heading towards the back. He also has a chin strip and a side-bear than goes down along his ears. On his left shoulder he has a black tattoo that he got back in the Northern Water tribe. The water tribe outfits have changed in the last decades. Shin wears a pair of blue pants that have some black claw markings on the side. On the upper part of his body he has a very short-sleeved black top, only the edges being blue. The top continues down into what looks like a formal Chinese style piece of clothing. His hands are covered in a pair of gloves that have the symbol of the Northern Waterbending tribe and black bands that are strapped up to his upper arm. On his feet he has some black and blue traditional shoes.

Personality: Shin has a very interesting personality that's for sure as he can be very calm and collective, getting angry very hard and at sometimes he can be as goofy and temperamental as a 10 year-old. Even he realized this and thinks it is due to being influenced by the two Koi fish from the sacred pond. Shin will always come to those in need even if sometimes he thinks it's too much of a drag, but even so he will do it without expecting anything in return. You could say he has a little hero in himself trying to come out.He tries to be the best at what he does, putting a lot of effort in it.

History:
Shin doesn't really know where he comes from as he was found at the sacred water pond where the Koi fish live by a woman from the Northern Water tribe and was later adopted by her. He was found at the age of two along with a small fox leopard that was playing with him. He doesn't know how long he lingered there at the pond. The only slim shades of memories he has are those of him being fed by the Koi fish and swimming with them, but he doesn't know if those are just figments of his imagination or true facts. He was told that his presence there at the pond was not a mistake and that the Koi fish and the Moon goddess have a bright destiny for him and that he and his animal friend have been entrusted with the power of the water. This turned out true as at the age of 7 he discovered his water bending skills and was initiated into the ancient waterbending art. His fox friend, which he named Tsuki or Tsu for short is always by his side and has a very jolly nature when he doesn't enter battle mode, then he becomes very serious and careful. As he grew up he made several visits to the sacred pond and as he was perfecting his waterbending skills, with every time he came he felt a stronger bond with the place, the Koi fish and the moon. But despite all this his history is still shrouded in mystery.

After mastering his element he decided to go on a journey to see what the world has installed for him. This was due to both his own wish of travelling and a felling from the Koi fish that spoke to him in a dream. So as the occasion was right he and Tsu said goodbye to his mom and his adoptive tribe and went off across the wide blue sea. He travelled to many different and interesting places, picking up interesting waterbending info and other customs and traditions.

Now Shin is in Ba Sing Se and wants to enter the bending tournament. He's not in it for the money. He once again had a strange dream where this time the moon goddess asked him to enter as it was part of his journey. So Shin decided to give it a try as the experience will benefit him and see what his so called destiny awaits him.

Miscellaneous:

  • How Tsuki looks and what he wears --->
    Spoiler:

  • Both Shin and Tsuki were blessed by the Moon Goddess and Koi fish and saved when they ended up at the scared pond through an underground water stream. This is why he has the link with them.

  • Shin and Tsuki can talk to each other and understands each other but other people can't understand Tsuki.

  • Tsuki can also use water bending moves, but only basic moves. However he has a wide variety of fighting type moves and styles.

  • Tsuki has also grown and is up to Shin's shoulder.
