Camillia Abbott -chapter -

Telepathy
Thoughts

Camillia blushed faintly as Masato thanked her gently squeezing her shoulder as he passed her to go on a mission with Adrian. Shortly after though a raven flew to her landing on her shoulder. Opening the letter she read the information. It seemed an Amazonian tribe that had become a bit notorious for summoning demons. The mission was simple in her mind. Eliminate the demons and the tribe as well. Her mission partners were someone named Kalek, Destiny, and Bernard. Great, he was the one who annoyed me she thought with a frown before turning to see Destiny standing nearby looking angry. Making her way over to the other woman Camillia put out her cigarette.

Maybe we'll get lucky, come back without him she joked with a smirk, though part of her was only half joking. I'm going to go get ready for the mission. I'll meet you there she nodded her head and turned walking away. Heading back to her house she changed into her mortal gear and put her hair into pigtails. Sure it might not matter what she wore on this mission, but it was easier to fight in this outfit. Thinking about the people in the amazon she cleaned her blade and coated it in a poison that killed instantly even with just a scratch, though it only worked instantly on mortals with weak immune systems, and the posion worked very slowly on demons and humans that had strong immune systems. It'll make the second part of the mission easy. she thought putting her sword in her sheath she put a few healing potions in her skirt pocket and left her house.

Several minutes later she stepped through a portal into the middle of the Amazon Rain-forest and leaned against a tree to wait for the others.

Masato Ryu - Chapter 3

Masato was playing catch-up as Adrian took off in pursuit of a lost soul. Masato, though travelling at top speed, Adrian was somehow leaving him behind. Maybe that was a special ability that he had... He quickly shook the thought away and concentrated on the task at hand: catching that lost soul. That was, until he saw something else out of the corner of his eye. Another lost soul was floating nearby, but quickly took off to Masato's left. Confident that Adrian's speed would be enough to catch the first soul, he turned to the newer soul and took off after it.

After a few minutes, the soul was wandering into a crowded area. Masato paused, looking around at the people nearby. Fortunately, he wouldn't have need of a true disguise. Keeping his eyes on the soul that's starting to get away, he took off his mask and tucked it away inside his shirt. Confident that he could blend in, he strode into the crowded streets in hot pursuit of the soul.

Adrian Frode

Adrian noticed the second soul behind him and was pleased to see that Masato took the initiative to go after it myself.
I'll have to catch him up later. Adrian didn't spend too long dwelling on his team mates departure but returned to the erratic, flying blob of light whirling around in front of me. He leapt across roof tops and dodged the various chimneys and other obstacles that got in the way as he raced across the tops of some of Beijing's many factories.

After nearly twenty minutes of moving at full speed Adrian was beginning to have to slow down to conserve energy, to otherwise he'd be spent in the next hour or so. But thankfully the soul was also slowing for some reason. Although thankfully was probably not the write word, Adrian was very uneasy about the sudden slow in its speed.
It's looking for something to posses and thinks there's something nearby.

Sure enough in the next instance it launched itself to the side forcing Adrian to again speed up and leap from the tall factory building he was on top of across to a smaller building across a fairly large distance. As he Adrian hit the roof of the building hard and rolled to his feet he saw the soul enter the body of a large-ish spider that was clinging to the wall of a stairwell leading into the building. The spider's body seemd to bubble as it swelled up and morphed into a type of spider demon. It was large, at least four-and-a-half feet tall and as wide as two of Adrian at least. Several spikes also protruded from the creature as it glared at Adrian with hungry eyes.
"Well crap." The demon lunged at Adrian with surprising speed.

Kalek Noire
Chapter 3
Part Three

Kalek had finished beating the snot out of yet another of his practice dummies when the swish of a wingbeat caught his attention. He looked up to the skies to behold the raven messenger that brought him mission summons; he was quite fond of the birds in both life and that beyond. The bird came to rest on his arm, giving him the letter that contained what he hoped was so drying interesting. He stroked the bird, who gave a low caw before flying back to where it had first come. Kalek turned his attention to the letter; opening it with a deft slice from his hidden blade. Within was the usual flowing script of a summons, which read:

Kalek Noire of Shadow's Hollow:

You are hereby summoned to the Amazon Rain Forest of Earth, where a trio of fierce demons have been summoned by a particular forest tribe of natives. Your goal is to locate and dispose of these demons. Also, due to the constant summoning of multiple spirits, you also have orders to wipe out the forest tribe.

Leave no survivors.

Short, sweet, and directly to the point. Just the way Kalek liked it. He was geared up within minutes, and stood in the front of his estate. He thought for a moment that he should most likely meet up with his teammates, but decided against it as he slowly vanished, headed for Earth.

The first thing Kalek noticed was heat. And wet. He then began taking in the pungent smells of the forest. It smelled mostly of wet plants, with underlying smells of blooming flowers and rotting plant matter. He opened his eyes to be met with a seemingly endless expanse of green and brown, although there seemed to be many quick routes through the trees. Suddenly, the peacefulness of the scene vanished, as sound collided into him from all directions. There was the cawing of birds, the screeching of primates, and the aggravating drone of hundreds of insects. He quickly began sifting through these, searching for demonlike noises among the forest clamor.

He can up empty. He needed to find this forest village first, then he could work out from there. better said than done, he thought glumly as he began his journey through the trees, searching for any sign of civilization, no matter how primitive.

Masato Ryu - Chapter 3 - Soul Hunt

Masato (sans mask) walked at a brisk pace, keeping his soul in his sight while weaving through the crowds in the streets. As they travelled, he noticed that they were heading towards a large building he recognized as a temple, complete with statues of animals and people in the front. They were getting further away from the Chinese citizens as they came towards the building, so Masato replaced the mask on his face and sped forward in hot pursuit until another blue light shone nearby. It was then that he put two and two together: these must be the souls of the victims, the girl and her mother!

The souls, however, pulled away from him and sped to the front door, but they split and entered into a pair of statues. The statues were of two Chinese temple guards, one brandishing a sword while the other was equipped with a long pike. "This can't be good," Masato thought as the statues transformed before his eyes. The statues cracked in numerous places, causing small pieces to fall away, revealing skin that had a slightly red tint to it. Dark, piercing eyes filled the stony sockets as their weapons were able to start moving. As they took their first steps, more and more pieces of stone fell off them until their full forms could be seen. They had the bodies of humans, though their faces and skin color revealed themselves to be more demonic than human in appearance.

Slowly they came towards the ninja before the pike warrior hissed at him in a devilish tongue, "How dare you come after my daughter like that! I will never allow another person to harm her ever again!"

"You don't understand," Masato spoke softly in the same tongue so they could understand, "I'm not here to harm you or your daughter. I'm here to escort both of you to Heaven."

"LIAR!!!" the pike demon roared in response, "You lie! I will not allow my daughter to be a victim anymore. I will destroy you!"

Both demons, weapons at the ready, came swiftly at Masato with the intent to kill. Masato, dismayed that they did not listen to or believe in him, pulled out his weapons and stood at the ready. He will meet these foes in combat...and he WILL be victorious!

Adrian Frode

Adrian dived to the side as the gigantic, and probably toxic arachnid launched itself at him. The spider demon was quick to land and turn for another attack though, it's unblinking eyes and salivating mouth making it look like something out of some strange horror movie.
"Well, I guess I'll just have to squish the bug then." Adrian drew his sword from it's resting place at his side a slipped into an offensive stance. The demon lurched forward as if to make another attack but it couldn't compare to Adrian's speed. The reaper sped past the creatures gaping mouth and near-lifeless eyes to its side. He sliced four of it's eight legs from it's body and drove his blade into the top of it's body... and then an army of smaller spiders poured out from the creature.
"Huh... that was unexpected."

There were several demons that had regenerating or self-multiplying abilities but this particular form of multiplication was closer to reproduction. The dead spider demon had produced several minuscule clones within it's body - but only once contained the soul that Adrian was after.
"You're a rare variety of demon indeed, guess there's only one thing to do now." Adrian threw himself into the fray, slicing the smaller demons (who were still a great deal larger than most spiders... think the size of a large hamster) and even driving his feet through them if he had to.

That was when the web started flying... within minuted Adrian was lying prone on the rooftop in a cocoon if silk that was stronger than steel with an army of arachnid demons advancing upon him.
This has not been a good couple of days...

BERNARD "DEMON" WESTERLY

Bernard strode into the hot, muggy forest in light leather armor, with his sword and hammer swung across his back, and his axes at his thighs. "God damn this blasted humidity...Why couldn't our mission take us somewhere like good old England..." It was too damned hot for a man of Englad. Especially one like Bernard. The thing he was named for may live in Hell, but he sure as...Hell...couldn't. (Punpunpun) Just hours earlier he had recieved a letter containing the details of the mission, and quite frankly he was thrilled. It had been a long time since he had recieved a hack-and-slash mission like this one. All they had to do was kill some demons. Bernard was an expert at that. He raised a hand to his forehead to wipe off the sweat, and scanned the area. He saw three things: Trees, trees, and some more trees. "God dammit..." He had a lot of wandering around to do...

"Mother ****er!" Demon pulled a massive thorn from his hand. It had seemed like everything wanted to kill him. He had several animals attack him, from jaguars to gorillas who had taken him for another gorilla. They may have been mortal creatures, but that didn't mean that it didn't hurt when they attacked. Plants had been a problem as well. Some strange and exotic plants had made it a point to jab at him everytime he had come within proximity, which was hard to avoid, seeing as he was a titan of a man. He would hack his way through normally, but it would dull his axes' blades. Any sign of a friendly or civilization would have been good...

Masato Ryu - Chapter 3 - Demon Attack

The demon warriors rushed forward, their weapons ready to seek flesh and blood. Masato, his weapons at the ready, rushed forward at the pike demon. At the last minute, he leapt onto the pike and used it as a small springboard to propel himself over the duo, but landed a couple of feet away. The pike was driven into the ground, but the demon was working on freeing it. As Masato turned around, the sword demon rushed to attack.

Fortunately, the demon wasn't too skilled with its weapon, as it lunged with a stab. He quickly and easily blocked it with one blade as he swiped with the other. The demon, though, avoided the attack and broke free. Both ninja and demon circled the other, looking for weaknesses in their stances. As they searched, the demon was first to act. It sprang forward with a diagonal slice that Masato again blocked. He held the demon in position, though, as he slashed again. This time, the blade hit the demon's right arm, causing it to yell in pain. He kept moving through the attack, connecting with a spin kick to the jaw. As the sword demon staggered away, another attack from the pike demon went unchecked, stabbing him in the side.

Masato got away, but he was bleeding from his side. The pike kept coming, though, and he was able to block the attacks, but he felt the other demon closing in behind him. He had a moment of brilliance, but they had to get closer. He kept blocking and parrying the pike, as he felt the sword demon get almost to him. With the next lunge from the pike, Masato spun to avoid it. The momentum of the attack was enough to carry the blade past him and stabbed the other demon in the chest. The pike demon was surprised and roared in frustration and disbelief. Masato quickly rushed forward, using his blades to quickly decapitate the demons while they were distracted.

As the demons faded away, defeated, the souls were able to reconstitute themselves. Before they could get away again, Masato grabbed his two soul jars and captured them both. "Whew," he muttered to himself, "Glad thats over." Right as he said that, he heard of a commotion on the rooftops with a myriad of spiders. Masato quickly climbed to the top of a building and sped as fast as he could to where the commotion was coming from. He wasn't prepared for what he saw.

Adrian was wrapped up in spider silk, while a group of spiders about the size of hamsters were approaching him. They were intent on making his partner a meal. Not on his watch! Masato leapt from his perch and landed on a few spiders, squashing them. With one swift motion, he sliced at the silk, which was surprisingly tough. It took him a few tries, but managed to cut Adrian free. He took the front, using his blades to stab and slice the little buggers while Adrian got himself back to his feet.

Spencer - Chapter 3

------------------------------------------------------------------

Needless to say, Spencer was shocked when he saw a duplicate of the reaper who he was just talking to and allowed himself not to follow along after then back into the meeting. He had a mission to do anyway and he wasn't the type to allow the previous incident to phase him. As the pitch black raven dropped a letter that Spencer caught with one hand. Looking over it once, he was disgusted with it's contents. This meant he would have to kill innocent people, just because they knew of something they couldn't help knowing. His face paled and a bead of sweat dripped ontop of the letter that Spencer tucked into his pocket.

He would be expected to carry out his duty as usual and later on he would return his thoughts to the problem at hand. He would keep this letter as something to use against the Grim's if necessary. Pacing off, he reached into his pocket for his coin and flicked it up. As the world spun around him, he closed his eyes and focused.

_______________________
It was less stressful than it seemed at the moment, but Spencer couldn't help but feel at fault. He had to care for a disabled father and sister and it felt like a burden for him to carry at the time and nothing more. Life was empty then, but not as empty as now. He had no true goals he was working for in his job that he felt passionate about aside from the recent situation.

If only... life could go back to the simplicity from before now he would be fine with that. He seemed to be struggling with ambition all of the time. Even back when he was a bartender. He would work a day job at the nearby grocery store, then trudge to the bar at night and get very little sleep. In fact, most of his life then seemed to be nothing, but meaningless work at times. He couldn't even keep his sister satisfied based on her reaction back in the desert.

He would drift in and out of being mentally conscious during work and usually tune things out that he felt didn't matter. If someone complained, he would tune them out if it was irrelevant. He felt so tired during his mortality, that he felt his immortality would be better. It had it's perks, but he would need to get stronger. To be able to push his way through waves of harbingers like the last if needed, and he would need to not only get stronger, but also think more about how he fought.
______________________
As he arrived on spot, Spencer stopped to put away his cigar and frowned. It was hot here... practically as blazing as the deserts. He took off his vest for the first time in ages on a mission and tossed it over his shoulders. It felt almost as if he was being targeted to have a heat stroke or something. It irritated him to no end, but he ignored it for now and took in his surroundings. He was on the coast of a craggy looking beach. He could feel the water was warm, but still cooler than the air, by crouching over and dipping two fingers in.

Adrian Frode

Adrian had been about to resort to a fire spell to escape from the spider silk binding him when Masato appeared out of nowhere and hacked him out of the cocoon. His ally then proceeded to cut and stomp at the army of arachnids in front of him. Adrian was quick to return to his feet and rushed into the fray slicing at the spider demons in a frenzy his blade a charcoal-coloured blur.

As he hacked through the numerous foes around him Adrian called over to Masato, who appeared to not know the workings of the strange demon,
"Only one of them has the soul in it. We have to find that one and kill it. If we do that the others will all die too, the only problem with that is that it looks and acts exactly like the rest of them." A spider leapt for the back of Masato's head at the conclusion of Adrian's statement but Adrian managed to prevent it from biting his comrade. He spun to his right in a leftward spiral and halved it.
Still no soul...

Things were still about to get far worse though. Adrian heard a loud crash and looked across the rooftops before him. Another demon was heading for them. A stone creature with two heads and for arms, it looked to Adrian as though it had made its body from the remnants of two or more broken statues. The grotesque creature landed on the rooftop, crushing several spiders beneath it and running at Adrian and Masato. Adrian dodged the beast, and another wave of spiders, looking across at Masato
"You got the other two right?! What the hell is this!"
Either someone unrelated is responsible for this... or there was another lost soul in the area we weren't informed of.

Adrian found himself trying to avoid being bitten by the spiders as he dodged a flurry of punches from their new opponent.
"Wonderful, now we have to avoid getting bitten by these spiders whilst fighting it out with this thing. Why can I never be on a mission that goes smoothly?"

Camillia Abbott -chapter 3- Out for the Count

Telepathy
Thoughts

Camillia sighed wondering were the others on this mission were when she heard footsteps approaching her. Finally someone shows up, what took you so long? she asked not even bothering to look.

"I knew I'd find you here" a voice she didn't really recognize said. Turning her head Camillia froze and then frowned quickly drawing her sword. Standing feet away from her was a tall man that had the sandy colored hair of the Kenton line.

What's a Kenton doing out here she snarled through her telepathy a sneer on her face.

"why do you think I'm here" the man sneered back. "I'm named after my ancestor that started all of this, Edward Kenton."

Your here to stop me from destroying what little remains of your family Camillia held her sword in a tight grip as Edward drew a sword that looked just like hers.

"I'm all that's left, and I will end you" Edward snarled as Camillia ran forward and swung her sword. The attack was parried easily and Edward quickly slashed at her scratching her arm with his sword. "Your not the only one who deals with poisons, I made this one specially for you"

Camillia frowned. your one of them aren't you she made another attack, but once again it was parried and Edward's sword scratched her chest and stomach this time.

"If you mean a Harbinger, your correct" Edward smirked. "as for that nifty little poison, it took time to make, but it will sap your reaper powers" he laughed watching as Camillia tried once more to strike him, only to be cut in three more places. "Just give up"

As much as I hate this, I have to flee she thought as she felt herself weakening. Damn she sneered more as much as she could through the pain and her weakness. This isn't over she used the last of her energy to make a portal back to limbo and threw herself threw it. The portal closed as soon as she was back in limbo, but she wasn't aware of that. The only thing she was aware of was her blackening vision before she collapsed were she stood.

Destiny Saviouer :: Amazon Rain Forest, Earth
Chapter Three :: Souls of the Jungle

As Destiny stood there, thinking of endless scenarios and ideas of how the mission could go delightfully wrong and result in the unfortunate demise of the British Reaper, the telepathic woman, Camillia, walked up to her. Maybe we'll get lucky; come back without him, she stated jokingly, a smirk on her face. I'm going to go get ready for the mission. I'll meet you there.

Destiny nodded to the woman and turned to leave herself. She could deal with two out of three of her teammates, and it would certainly be nice to hang out in the rain forest after so much time without having stepped foot in one. So long as she didn't have to cooperate with the British Reaper too much, it should be fine.

But she still had time to think of a few more deaths for him before the mission started. It made her genuinely smile, for once.

♛♛♛♛♛

Destiny ran her hand through the crystal clear water, basking in the sunlight. It was absolutely gorgeous here. It reminded her of some of the jungles on Atlantis, although the ones on Atlantis were a bit more diverse.

With a relaxed sigh, Destiny got to her feet and stretched out her arms. She had probably been the first to arrive in the rain forest, having come straight to it after receiving the mission. She had kept her senses open in order to detect the arrival of her teammates. By now they were all here, and she supposed it was time for them to all meet up.

She turned, grabbed her scythe from the spot where it leaned against a tree, and began to walk.

The flora and fauna here were beautiful, and they hardly bothered her. Neither did the heat, really. She was probably better adapted to this type of environment than most other Reapers that patrolled the Earth, and most likely Harbingers as well, so that was an advantage. She could deal with most any natural environment, really. Some were a bit harder to adjust to than others, of course, but she usually managed to.

Her targets, however, were native to this area and sure to know a lot about it. They had a home turf advantage, and the climate probably put most of her team at a disadvantage. They were still superhuman, though, so they would have no issues with the tribe. Just the demons.

But they did have to eliminate the entire tribe, including children and innocents. . . . Destiny still wasn't used to such missions. She outright refused to complete them on some occasions, and that had certainly gotten her into some trouble in the past. This time she had teammates, and one of which was a major arse that would probably have no qualms in slaughtering little children. At least she wouldn't have to get her hands dirty, if it came to it.

As Destiny walked, she neared the presence of one of her teammates. She had made sure to avoid the aura of the British Reaper, and this soul wasn't that of Camillia, so the only person left would have been Kalek.

She pushed through a dense grove of plants and made her way towards the presence. As she did so, there was a sudden, drastic change in the wavelengths of the area.

There was a new, powerful presence, and it was near Camillia. Both this new soul and the soul of Camillia pulsed at a rate that usually signified combat. And it felt as if Camillia's soul was losing.

Destiny rushed through the forest and found Kalek, preparing to drag him back to the fight. As she reached him, she felt Camillia's soul disappear. It hadn't died, but simply vanished. That meant that she had probably escaped back to Limbo. Moments later, the other soul, likely a Harbinger, fled.

Destiny sighed, turning to Kalek. "Well, we just lost Camillia. I felt her soul return to Limbo. She was attacked by a Harbinger." Destiny shook her head and gripped her scythe. "Anyways, let's find the remaining prick of our team and head to that tribe."

Masato Ryu - Chapter 3 - No end to the demons?

Masato couldn't believe how bad their luck was right now. Not only are there waves of spiders coming down, but now an extremely ugly demon came after them both. Two heads, four arms...what wil they think of next? Slicing at a couple more spiders that came up near him, he rushed to where Adrian was and leapt up onto the demon's back. He quickly brandished his blades and performed a flip in front of the demon, slashing the eyes of one of the heads. While the one head reeled from the attack, the other tried to attack him.

Masato, though, rolled in-between its legs and started running. The demon, now fully agitated, started chasing after him, crushing more spiders as they ran around the rooftop. He hoped this would allow Adrian to finish off the spiders and find the soul quickly. "Hurry, Adrian," he said, dodging another fist from the brute who is now on his heels, "find the soul quickly. I'll see about taking care of this one."

Kalek Noire - Chapter 3, part 3

Kalek nodded to Destiny as she emerged from the forest. He too had sensed the fight, though he knew that the jungle was too thick for them to have made it in time. He replied by saying, "Well, it'll still work with three. I hope." He then returned to scanning the forest around them for any signs of life.

Kalek sniffed the damp air, and froze as he heard a sound. Something big, most likely bipedal, wandering through the forest nearby... Kalek quickly scaled a tree, weaving through the branches like only one with his training could. He stopped as he waited for the being to come beneath him, and jumped once it was.

His hidden blade was out and against the being's neck in an instant, though he stopped himself from killing as he recognized the face of the one he had jumped on. It was another Reaper, Bernard Westley, that he had found, not a demon. He rolled off of the Reaper, and said, "I apologize, one cannot very easily tell a reaper from a demon in this environment." He was right, as all of the different forms of life made a kind of haze, which made the signature too fuzzy to recognize as anything but a supernatural being.

The hidden blade slid back, returning to its hiding place. He offered a hand to Bernard and asked, "No hard feelings?"

BERNARD "DEMON" WESTERLY

After what seemed like forever's worth of wandering around in the God-forsaken jungle, Bernard felt the presence of another presence closing in. Within seconds the being was upon him, and he was on the ground with a blade pressed against his back. God dammit! I let that mother ****er get the drop on me! Not a second later it stood up. "I apologize, one cannot very easily tell a reaper from a demon in this environment. No hard feelings?" He looked to the voice to find a young-looking lad holding out a hand.

Bernard chewed his lip a bit, but extended his hand and gripped the other Reaper's hand with crushing strength. "No harm. No foul." He wasn't upset with the man. He was just doing his job, and besides, it took a lot to sneak up a Reaper his size. "And by the way, you can find Demons of any shape, size, and allegiance." He gave an evil grin, both broken and dirty. "You sir, have my respect." He pulled his hand away and looked the lad up and down. "You're a scrawny lookin' lad. I sure hope you can fight." He grinned and gave the lad a hearty slap on the back and drew his broadsword. He brandished the weapon as he felt another presence, but after enough prodding, he was able to confirm it was a Reaper. "Oh my God. You cannot be ****ing kidding me." He recognized this one. "That ***** from the ampitheater!" Demon looked to his new comrade. "Is it that ***** from the ampitheater?" He sighed and shook his head and answered without an answer. "It's that ***** from the ampitheater." He resheathed his sword and punched the nearest tree, causing it to come crashing down. "I apologize for anything she does in the future." With that he turned to walk towards this presence that he could assume would start a fight.

Kalek Noire
Chapter 3
Part Five

A throwing knife, seemingly coming from nowhere, thunked into a tree branch directly next to Bernard's face. Kalek grabbed it back, coming rather close to him, and said menacingly, "Don't question my abilities. Next time, my aim might not be so lax." With this, he swept back over to where Destiny was standing and axed, "Besides, you have proved that you aren't the most observative warrior. Going off on your own could prove dangerous to your health."

However, before Bernard could get a word out, Kalek silently drew his sword, looking around the forest. Without warning, he sprang into the underbrush, pinning the native that had been careless enough to spying them angainst a thick trunk.

The native cried out a long stream of words, though Kalek had never taken the time to study languages. The rapid fire language was too much for him to follow, so he slammed his sword into the trunk next to his head, which shut the young man up.

Looking back to Bernard and Destiny, Kalek asked, "Does anyone here understand what this guy is saying?"

Adrian Frode

Adrian nodded at Masato as he moved to handle the newly arrived demon. Adrian on the other hand, was still left with trying to locate and kill the spider containing the lost soul of the serial killer. He once again resumed slicing into the veritable army of arachnids, but his efforts were met with little success and he ended up suffering several minor bites to his arms and legs as a result of this attempt.
I could do a lot of damage with a simple fire spell... but it's risky to do that in a city like this. If this keeps up much longer I'll have no choice though.

Adrian launched himself into the fray yet again, slicing more and more spider demons into fractions and becoming increasingly frustrated by the missing soul.
"Which one of you has it? Come out where ever you are..." Almost as if responding to his taunts several of the creatures leapt for Adrian's head causing him to have to drop to one knee and swing his blade over his head - splicing the spider demons. Now that he was closer to their level the swarm rushed at him from all sides.

Damn it! Adrian let lose a sphere of fire around his body - it didn't last long but it was long enough that someone may have noticed it (and as such long enough to repel the spiders), and yet the arachnids continued to attack him.
"Where the hell is it!"

Masato Ryu - Chapter 3 - Now what?

"NOW what do I do?" Masato thought to himself as that demon was barrelling towards him with a single intent: destroy. He deftly moved around the rooftop, slicing more spiders as he ran. Fortunately, the monster was crushing more spiders underneath its feet, helping them out a little more. Curious how the spiders weren't attacking the monster, though...maybe the monster was sent by someone to protect the soul. Or maybe it was sent to try and get them both to fail.

Either way, Masato tried to keep this monster busy. As more and more spiders were crushed or sliced, his mind was racing about how to destroy his foe. A sudden thought hit him and he rushed to the edge of the buiding they were on. Fortunately, no one was nearby on the sidewalk. He turned to the monster, but it rushed forward quicker than anticipated. It barreled into him hard as they both tumbled off the edge of the building.

Masato and the monster plummeted towards the ground quickly. Keeping his mind focused, he tried to maneuver around the monster, but one arm grabbed his leg, refusing to let go. As they were falling, Masato grabbed his weapons and sliced at the arm, but it didn't let go. Quickly, he attacked the eyes of the other head. It finally let go as he leapt off the back of the monster and clutched onto a window ledge. Soon, he heard a nasty crunch below him. He looked down to the ground to see the monster virtually shattered underneath him. He quickly donned his cats claws and started scaling the building, heading back to the top.

Destiny Saviouer :: Amazon Rain Forest, Earth
Chapter Three :: Devouring

Destiny had a devious grin on her face as she listened to the English Reaper issue a long stream of curses to her name. From her vantage point in the trees above Kalek and the other Reaper, he probably had no idea she was close enough to hear his words. It amused her that she would be able to tick him off just as much as his presence vexed her.

She was a bit disappointed that Kalek hadn't slit his throat. She was looking forward to it. She had hoped that Kalek wouldn't have noticed his mistake until after the Reaper was dead, then she would be able to tell the Grims that he had gotten in the way and had paid for it with his life. No fault on Kalek, and the ranks of the Reapers would have been just a bit cleaner.

Oh well. I guess it just wasn't her luckiest day. Then again, there were still plenty of opportunities to come.

As Destiny turned to jump out of the tree she was in, Kalek twisted around and attacked a native that had been spying on the two through the underbrush. Darn, Destiny thought, I wanted to do that.

She leaped out of the tree, twisted gracefully in mid-air and landed silently behind the English Reaper and Kalek.

"Does anyone here understand what this guy is saying?" Kalek asked, having caused the native to utter a few sentences, begging for his life after having been surprised by Kalek.

Destiny blinked. Wasn't the gift of tongues one of the basic abilities of a Reaper? Did Kalek not possess it? "Nothing helpful," she grunted as she walked over to Kalek and the native. She kneeled down in front of the cowering youth and began to speak in his native tongue. "Now, would you mind telling us where your village is, please?" She asked, a genuinely kind and upbeat expression masking her face. There was next to no chance that that would work on the child, but it was worth a shot.

The boy spat back a scathing remark, confirming that he wasn't going to just hand over the information. That was fine with her.

She narrowed her eyes, an absolutely wicked grin crossing her face. "If you don't want to tell us, we could simply unleash beings from the depths of Hell, far worse than anything your tribesmen have ever conjured, and let them roam free, destroying both this beautiful jungle and your pitiful village in the process. Starting with you."

An expression of both shock and fear took over the boy's features, and Destiny could tell that he wasn't quite as seasoned as the other warriors in his village. He was probably just a newbie, one that was unlucky enough to cross paths with the three Reapers sent to destroy and slaughter his entire village. That at least meant he would be easier to break than might be expected from some others in his tribe.

When the boy remained silent, Destiny reached out her hand. "I'll be happy to harvest your soul right here, right now." Her hand began to glow faintly, and right before it touched the boy he shrieked, telling Destiny to wait.

And now we have what we need, Destiny thought as the boy told them the location of his village. "Thank you," Destiny said. She stood up and turned, ready to walk away. As she did so, she waved her hand in the air and wrenched the boy's soul from his body, causing his body to go limp.

"Here's a little taste of what's in our future," Destiny stated, holding her scythe in front of her. The others probably didn't realize it, but she was speaking directly to the weapon. It was the Spirit Blade after all. It did have some sentience.

She brought her hand to the blade, causing the boy's spirit to flow into it. The white, ever-shifting surface of the blade glowed in delight as it devoured the soul.

Okay, sometimes she could be a bit sadistic when she was in the right mood.

Apparently she was.

This would be a fun day, indeed.

Luka Sokolov - Chapter 3-5: Mind Games

Luka stepped out of the hospital hut with no idea what he was going to do about the village. The voice of his thoughts seemed to constantly shift between personalities, thinking things like There has to be some way to kill them painlessly or all at once. followed by I can't kill them, especially now that they Idolize me! One side arguing the best ways for mass murder and the other arguing possible ways to get away with letting them live. He wasn't even considering his plan for the terrorists.

Looking up from his pensive state, Luka gazed over at the beautiful lake by the village. His mind thought about how that radiant shimmering surface hid underneath a multitude of organisms all eating and being eaten, killing and surviving. He understood that it was necessary for them all to survive and thrive. This mission, however, was not killing to defend territory or to sate hunger. It was murder to eliminate witnesses to something they had no choice in witnessing. The sort of thing evil crime bosses and corrupt governments did. So what if they know about Reapers? thought Luka. They themselves are too primitive and secluded to do anything with the knowledge and such knowledge would not benefit any harbingers that could potentially come to this place in any way.

He felt his anger rising so he picked up a rock and flung it far into the lake to sate his anger at least a little bit. As he did so he noticed a person by the lake that he quickly realized was Spencer. Thinking that now would be a good time to form a plan for the mission he started heading to him but a familiar voice stopped him dead in his tracks. "Grims got a fun little mission in store for ya, eh Luka?" Luka couldn't forget that voice. Attano. He instantly turned around, sword drawn, to see the Harbinger from Cuba standing there. He was leaning against a wall holding a wrinkled piece of paper that after searching his own figure Luka confirmed as being his mission briefing letter. If Attano had been able to pickpocket him, a reaper, without him noticing in the slightest, then it would have been child's play assassinating him now or in Cuba. That meant there was something he wanted from him.

Luka put his sword away and took a deep breath before responding. "What do you want, harbinger?" he asked, not wanting to say Attano's name. He didn't like that the harbinger had called him by his first name either.

"Straight to the point. Why so cold, Mr. Russia? I thought we were friends!" Luka glared at him in response to that last statement. "Wondering why you're not dead yet?" Again, it was like he was reading his thoughts. Maybe he actually could read minds, but Luka doubted it. "Well, the first time it was 'cause I thought I didn't need to and that those harbingers that are currently pushing daisies could handle you. I was also having so much fun messing with you and that Nox guy that killing you both right off the bat would have made things boring" Attano smoothed out the page in his hands and folded it into a paper airplane as he spoke. "But those guys were no match for you, were they Chernobyl boy?" Luka froze. "That's right Sokolov, I know who you are now." Luka couldn't believe his ears. He was in such shock that he didn't even react when Attano threw the paper airplane at his face. "I won't tell you how I know, but lets just say that telling me your name rang some bells."

That instant, Luka's mind flashed back to every person he remembered meeting, but try as he might, he couldn't remember ever meeting Attano. As he tried to figure out how this harbinger knew who he was, Attano continued his villainous monologue. "You haven't died yet today because I want something from you. Or rather, I want to see if I really want it or not in the first place." Luka scowled. Just as he thought it, it seemed that his thoughts were again known by the harbinger "You might be asking yourself, 'What does this handsome, elite harbinger want with weak little me?' True, there are dozens of reapers stronger, faster, smarter, better at aiming, better at magic, there are especially a lot of those, better looking, better everything than you." Luka's shoulders drooped at the truth of the statement. "Now I could hint at what I do want, but it's more fun to just leave you here confused and wallowing in self-pity." Luka's head lifted and he glared at the excessively cheerful Attano. In response, Attano gave a huge grin. "Have fun murdering an entire village~!" With that, Attano waved goodbye and teleported away.

Damn that stupid Attano... Luka's thoughts were full of resentment for the harbinger that had been toying with him. It was obvious that what he wanted had something to do with his useless-in-combat yet unique ability. What he didn't understand was why he wanted it. Furthermore, did the harbingers want it and sent him to get it or is he just messing around on his own accord? And how do you even take an ability from someone? None of it made any sense. Not wanting to think about it anymore, Luka picked up the briefing letter and ran over to where Spencer was dipping his fingers into the lake. Hiding his emotions as expertly as always, Luka smiled and said, "Hey, Spencer. We should probably get up the volcano now. Terrorists are probably gonna drop something like that from a plane or helicopter or something and I don't think the Afar have much anti-air defense. Do you think you could jump high enough to take something like that down or that it would be better to use one of my explosive arrows?"
