Hi there! Click here to jump to the FTE Main Thread!

Chapter 4: A whole lotta lava
A child-like excitement overcomes Lucario as you follow him into the cave.

"It is here." he whispers.

Level objective: grab the Fire Type Emblem!
Pick up the Fire Type Emblem (M17) and get it out of the cave safely through the exit! If the player holding the Fire Type Emblem is knocked out, the item drops to the floor.

Starting position: any of the highlighted squares
Pick any of the glowing blue squares near the cave entrance to start in. They're harmless, I promise!

Spoiler:
Chapter 4, folks! Let's go!~

: "Wait, the Fire Type Emblem is in this cave? I've heard of people talking about it, but I thought it was only a legend."

: "In that case, let's be careful and see if we can get this thing out before more trouble comes. Considering the previous battles, I imagine this isn't all of the Pokemon we'll encounter."

Coral proceeds to use her ears to detect the Pokemon in the area, hearing the cries of Pokemon as they become aware of intruders in their cave. The responses leave Coral uneasy, though.

: "Even though this is a lava-themed area, I detected many different varieties of Pokemon. We should be prepared for battles with multiple types."

Like before, here is a list of matchups for each enemy Pokemon to keep in mind:

Spoiler:
Slugma, Magmar, Quilava: Pure fire types.

Zubat, Swoobat, and Noibat: The flying types, respectively the other type is Poison, Psychic, and Dragon.

Chingling, Unown, Meditite, Bronzor, and Solrock: The Psychic types, the last four are also Fight, Steel, Psychic, and Rock respectively.

Roggenola, Geodude, Onix, Rhyhorn, Nosepass: The Rock types. Geodude, Onix, and Rhyhorn are also Ground types.

In addition to Zubats, we also have a Koffing for Poison types.

In addition to Noibat, we have another Dragon type in the form of Bagon.

Finally, there's Diglett (Ground), and Whismur (Normal)

For Fire, Lutin, Glacier, Fressia, and Lily should be careful. Nah, Cuddles, and Coral should have almost no problems.

For Flying, Glacier is the only one that can take advantage of it, as the rest of us will have to consider the secondary type. Inflame needs to be careful around these enemies.

For Poison, Mercy, Glacier, and Coral will have problems. Nah can easily take them out, and Lutin is immune.

For Psychic, Freesia, Suzuki, and Inflame might want to watch their positioning. Woowoo is our best bet against these types.

For Fight, Lutin and Krakonos could run into trouble. Freesia and Suzuki will resist Fight, and a few of us have SE moves against Fight (Coral and Inflame come to mind).

For Rock, Glacier needs to be careful. The rest of us either don't take much damage or we have something that will take care of them.

For Ground, Priscilla, Felix, Lutin, Suzuki, and Inflame need to beware. Our Grass and Water types should easily take care of them.

For Dragon, Nah needs to take caution, although Nah joins Glacier, Mercy, Lutin, and Coral in taking them out quickly.

Woowoo and Mercy are immune to Normal moves, so some of Whismur's attacks will not work.

It also should be noted that Inflame is the only Pokemon that will not be burned on crossing lava tiles. Those of us able to fly will catch a burn, though. There are also six items that can be picked up off the ground, but I imagine some enemy Pokemon are carrying items too.

For Phase 1, you guys feel free to do whatever you want, but just be aware that we can be attacked on Enemy Phase 1. As for Coral, I will start on C12. I'll make my move after some other people decide what they'll do for their move.

I'm obviously in trouble right now haha, not only the fact that my only fighting move at my disposal is revenge that put me in biding status against pokemon strong against me. But my only powerful move in my disposal is feint attack which is not very ideal. And i just learned my idiocy of knowing mud slap instead of mud bomb which put me in large conundrum. Ah well. I'll choose B15

I looked at all the enemy pokemon and just realized almost all of the enemy pokemon are super effective against my inflame but it matters on the move set so I'm done for if they have flying, psychic, or ground type well we will never know until chapter 4.1 starts.

This is why you think defensively if you do not think you would be able to knock out the enemies (consider each enemy's Move in mind and try not to be in range is one strategy, or to park yourself behind an ally that would knock out the enemy if they got close to you). You are not alone in this, remember that. There's going to be people in our group that will be able to knock out the enemies that will give you a lot of trouble. One of the things we do not do in this group is leave others behind to fend for themselves, so just stay safe until you find an enemy that you can safely knock out as a team attack with other members.

Also, Lycan hasn't officially announced it, but Sharps is returning. I think I'll take this chance to try to give a shout out for the group.

Go ahead and pick a spot guys, and your move if you want to go ahead with it. (Hoping this shout out worked, it didn't work for Lycan yesterday)

Lutin has Crunch, so you're good. Also, Lily has already claimed spot B13, but considering your typing, I'd probably say you could do some damage at B12 and the enemy can't do much about it.

I know I messed up someone's mention, so let's try this again...

Hopefully this works.

All right, it seems people are mostly just picking a spot, which is what is being requested before you can start...but it is Player Phase 1, so we can begin moving. I was seeing what some other players were going to do with their actions, and right now it seems not much is going on. I had thought about engaging the Chingling, but it would leave me open to the likes of Koffing. So I'll do the first attack of the battle. Coral moves to D8 and uses Rock Smash on Roggenrola. Its high Defense makes it unlikely for it to be taken out by this attack alone, but if it does have Sturdy, this will make it possible for another Pokemon to knock it out later. Just need someone to deal with the Zubat and I'll be doing very well heading into Phase 2.

D12 is already taken by a rock, I fear. :]

I will assist too Inflame will move to D7 and use double kick on the roggenrola, if its already fainted I will move to B10 and use ember on the zubat
Inflame can only move 5 squares I'm afraid (his Move stat) if you want to use an attack, so he is unable to get all the way to D7 or B10 in one turn. Also, the move Ember can only hit a Pokémon from exactly two squares away either horizontally or vertically ("Rn 2") and Double Kick can only target an adjacent Pokémon, again either horizontally or vertically ("Rn 1"). If you are unsure what squares you can target, you can click Inflame on the map and check the range in the move description. You can even hover your mouse over the underlined range and an image will show you exactly what can be hit! :)

By the way, should you wish to move more than 5 squares, you can use your Action to Sprint. You then double your movement (and can thus move up to 10 squares), but you forego attacking that turn.

(Blowing the cave up with the dynamite and grabbing the Fire Emblem sounds like a great idea.)

I notice that 10 or so enemies are weak to Water-type, but alas we've only 2PP of that. Mercy will start on B14, and prepare to follow Coral ~

I also noticed that the Unown combined make FTE
