I suppose those don't sound terribly Japanese when you first hear them.

Though Gurren Lagann doesn't exactly sound like a Japanese name to me. Well, unless you call it by its Japanese name, that is. It's that Tengen Toppa portion that kinda makes it sound a bit more Japanese to me.
