► I continued my journey through Unova, without anything major happening. I battled Gym Leaders, rivals, the Elite Four, N and Ghetsis. Flamare evolved along the way.
► I started the postgame by catching my final team member, Seviper. I named it Veenak.
► After that, I tried battling the postgame trainers, but they were too tough for me since my Pokémon only were around Lv 53. So I trained my team up to Lv 60, and then 65 because I still had a bit of trouble.
► When the postgame was over, my Pokémon were Lv 70. Then I used my Rare Candies to get them up a few extra levels before challenging the Pokémon League again.
► After selling and buying stuff, it was time to face the Elite Four and Champion. The Elite Four wasn't really hard, but Alder did give me some trouble, mainly with Volcarona. It required a team effort to pull it all the way through to the end.
-Named myself Brown, started off right away with Umber the Chimchar (I’m reminded of how clever I am every time I see “Umber used Ember!”)
-Did all the starting stuff and then proceeded to catch the second member of the team, Wallace the Bidoof, on Route 204. Also caught another Bidoof named Edgar and a Starly named Airbus for later HM slave duty (do I get extra points if my HM slaves are brown as well?)
-Beat Barry on Route 203, Got to Oreburgh, Went north to route 207 and caught myself a Machop. Traded her in town for my third team member, Kazza the Abra. Taught it Return so it had something other than just Teleport.
-Went to Oreburgh Mine and after some dumb complications (burn hax, unwanted crits, accidentally running away) I finally caught the fourth member of the team (did I make this too easy?), Jordan the female Geodude. I gave her a gender neutral name because I feel like a female GeoDUDE would be a bit confused.
-Umber evolved into Monferno at Lv.14! Learned Mach Punch.
-Was Mach Punching Roark to death until a Headbutt from Cranidos I was not prepared for took out Umber, so Jordan had to come in to take it out at a snail’s pace. Got the badge, taught Stealth Rock to Jordan as a reward for saving the day.
-Beat up Team Galactic in Jubilife and then at the Valley Windworks.
-Grinded Wallace to Lv. 15 so he’d evolve into Bibarel and maybe start sucking less.
-Everybody got a bunch of levels in Eterna Forest, including Kazza who, despite ignoring me half the time, got to Lv. 16 and evolved into a Kadabra, learning Confusion (yay). (Forgot to take a screen right away : S)
-Umber single-handedly destroyed the Eternia Gym. Taught Grass Knot to Kazza, who will start listening now
-Struggled a bit with Jupiter at Team Galactic HG, but got the job done (why can Zubat learn Giga Drain anyway?)
-Jordan threw a bunch of rocks at birds on Cycling Road
-Went back to Oreburgh Gate, went over some bike ramps and got the TM for Brick Break. Taught it to Umber. Also caught Herman the Psyduck for Flashing purposes (let’s hope he doesn’t get arrested for sexual harassment)
-Everybody got a bunch of levels exploring Wayward Cave, including Jordan who evolved into a Graveler at Lv. 25!
-Explored the secret part of Waward Cave, went over more bike ramps, and got the TM for Earthquake to make my life easier down the road
► I picked Charmander for HM purposes. I soloed with him until I reached Mt. Moon, where
I caught a Clefairy that I named Lollipop.
► Lollipop got through most of Kanto, but I caught GummyBear the Slowpoke to help her out.
► Lollipop and GummyBear were a great combination, and totally dominated Kanto. I did
add something to my team very late though, a Porygon, since I've never
used one before, and don't think I will (in first gen at least). Named it JellyBean.
► JellyBean didn't really come in handy that much, since I decided that I
wanted to use it when I was at Cinnabar. It was OK, but I couldn't get the
best out of it since all the good TMs it could learn had already been used on Lollipop or GummyBear.
► Nontheless, I beat the rest of Kanto, and became the Champion!
Lollipop the Clefable, Lv 62
Body Slam, Thunderbolt, Bubblebeam, Minimize
I was too lazy to train like I usually do, and as a result I only got 4 of the Rare Candies and my Pokemon were around 50 instead of the usual 60. Also I was lazy in the video, so you get to hear the same song twice.
Thank you! Also, I'm wondering if I can change from HeartGold to Gold?
I'm having some ROM problems, and I don't want to restart my actual game...which means I'm pretty much stuck with G/S/C when it comes to the Johto sections.
Well, no one answered my question, but I'm just going to assume it's OK, since they're both Johto games anyway.
► I caught a Mareep (named Popcorn) to do the early game until I could get a Jigglypuff. I thought Jigglypuff was first accessible below
Goldenrod, but that's only in Crystal. So I backtracked to Route 46 to catch one, since that's where they're first accessible in G/S. When I
got one, I named it BubbleGum.
► BubbleGum and Popcorn got joined by Milkshake the Miltank and Cake the Corsola later on. At this point, I stopped using Popcorn, since
Ampharos isn't pink and Flaaffy wouldn't be that useful in the game anymore. It did serve well as an HM Slave, though.
With Cake and Milkshake, my team was complete, and I got through both Johto and Kanto quite easily. I did have to use a lot of potions
and revives for the Pokémon League and Red though.
Maybe a bit lacking in details, but oh well...
BubbleGum the Wigglytuff, Lv 62 (♀)
Body Slam, ThunderPunch, Sing, Fire Punch
Milkshake the Miltank, Lv 62 (♀)
Item: Pink Bow
Body Slam, Milk Drink, Earthquake, Shadow Ball
Update #3 and #4 (sorry for the lull in updates, moved into a new place and was getting settled in. Then again, I seem to update more than other people, so I don't know :/)
Notes on Update #3
-Fantina was a stressful ordeal involving a poopton of revives, super potions, and an X Special Defense. Mismagius pretty much walled my entire team with type advantages.
-Beat up Barry with no issue
- Started feeling like I was getting a bit overleveled, started avoiding trainer battles and grass as much as I could
-Evolved Kazza into Alakazam once I got to Veilstone to help with the upcoming gym.
-The Maylene fight was made slightly more difficult by the fact that Kazza had stopped listening as he was Lv. 32 at this point, but Umber stepped in to help save the day. (We shouldn’t have a similar problem for a while, with Kazza listening up to Lv. 50 now
Notes on Update #4
-Searched for what seemed like forever in the Ruin Maniac’s Cave for the fifth and final member of our team, Brienne the Hippopotas! Taught her Earthquake because Jordan learns it naturally the earliest (in a few levels in fact)
-Brienne was pretty much caught up with the rest of the team once we got to Pastoria, where we proceeded to beat up Barry again
-Looked at the levels of Crasher Wake’s pokemon, started regretting thinking I was overleveled, proceeded west to train more on routes and in the Mansion thingy
-Taught Wallace Shock Wave for the sole purpose of beating up the Pastoria Gym (we’ll be replacing the move relatively soon). Beat up Crasher Wake with Wallace and Kazza (w/ a Grass Knot for Quagsire)(Forgot to take a screen for this )
-Chased and beat the bloody snot out of the British knob from Team Galactic
-Sprayed some ducks
-The Ace Trainers on route 210 are jerks.
-Found the TM for Shadow Ball, taught it to Kazza. Jordan learned Eartquake naturally (told you).
-Beat up Cyrus, got Surf, taught it to Wallace. Surfed behind Valley Windworks, got the TM for Thunderbolt, taught it to Wallace as well, replacing Shock Wave (told you that as well).
-Surfed over to Fuego Ironworks and got the TM for Flamethrower. Taught it to Umber. Also got the last couple shards I needed to be able to teach Jordan Sucker Punch at the move tutor on route 212
-Evolved Jordan into Golem to help with the upcoming Gym.
The team so far (everyone actually looks brown now!):
Okay, so I started Purple/Silver a while ago, and just made it to Mahogany. My Golbat hates me apparently, because he just won't evolve. He hasn't fainted and I've been training him and loving him but HE WON'T EVOLVE. And I need Crobat for Fly. *sigh*
My team is something like:
Starscream the Lv. 31 Golbat
Darkstream the Lv. 28 Gengar
Drillhorn the Lv. 28 Nidoking
And yes, all my names are Decepticons. Deal with it.
-Kazza learned Psychic at Lv.40 (like it wasn’t already obliterating things with just Psybeam)
-Oh hey, look at that, we beat up Barry again
-Went to the Iron Islands to train, where Brienne evolved into a Hippowdon at lv. 34 and Umber evolved into a Infernape at Lv.36!
-Found two Heart Scales (in Oreburgh City and Route 213 respectively) and taught Brienne Ice Fang and Fire Fang at the move relearner in Pastoria
-Brienne and Wallace tag-teamed Byron, utterly demolishing him
-Beat up Jupiter at Lake Valor, beat up Mars at Lake Verity
-Slapped the EXP share on Edgar for a couple battles in some tall grass so he evolved into a Bibarel so I could teach him Strength to get through Mt. Coronet
-Trudged through some super annoying snow
-Umber burnt down most of the Snowpoint Gym (punching some faces along the way for good measure), but Candice herself was a group effort
- Choose Swampy the Mudkip.
- Traveled to the outskirts of Petalburg and caught Ace, the Taillow
- Got to Rustboro and swept with Swampy
- Swampy evolves into Marshtomp
- Easily beat May
- Caught a Whismur (Later to be named Bopper)
- Beat Brawly with a combined effort of Ace and Swampy
- Traveled to Mauville and swept Watson with Swampy
- Caught an HM Slave (zig)
- Ace evolved into Swellow
Swampy The Bold Marshtomp
Ace The Serious Swellow
-Got the TM for Rock Slide from Mt. Coronet, Taught it to Jordan.
-Beat up Team Galactic at the place, released the legendaries.
-I. Hate. Going. Through. Caves.
-Beat up the same old bad guys, then went through the Tedious Multi-Dimensional Maze Puzzle Thing of Doom
-Killed Girantina because why not.
-Brienne single-handedly diestroyed Volkner (I know it’s a typo but it works haha)
-Got through Victory Road with little to no issue. Found the TM for Stone Edge somewhere along the road (/rimshot), taught it to Umber.
-Decided it would be more beneficial for me to have Light Screen on Kazza rather than Reflect. Flew to Veilstone to buy the TM and teach it to him.
-Spent as much of my money as I could, because everyone’s probably a bit underleveled, and I don’t feel like grinding, so the league might take a few tries
-Oh right, Barry. He was actually tough this time around. That Staraptor is ridiculously annoying
-After 4 “warm-up” runs we finally did it! It wasn’t the most graceful of victories, as in a lot of items were used on Cynthia, but as much fun as this whole run was I wanted to get it done with.
- I didn’t pay attention to who won each battle for me, but Kazza was definitely the MVP (as you can probably see from his level compared to everyone else). Brienne was a close second, taking physical hits for days, and an honorable mention goes out to Jordan for being the designated revenge killer with Sucker Punch.
