Ultimate Monotype Challenge Thread

Hey everyone, I already started a Normal monotype run in Black, so I'll just post my updates here.

It's been a while since I gave an update on here for the ultimate mono fighting type run so:

- beat Mt. Moon
- Beat Gary 3rd Battle
- Made it to Bill freed him and got the S.S Ticket
- Evolved DonkeyKong (Mankey)
- beat Misty
- Made it to Vermilion
- Beat S.S Aqua (I Think that's the boat's name lol)
- Beat Lt. Surge
- Made it to Rock Tunnel

Kanto Challenge Complete

Finished my Kanto FIRE challenge, moving on to Johto now.

I only started 2 days ago, hehe. Played pretty much all throughout last night to complete it.

-I pretty much solo'd the League with Charizard. Slash is just great. :)
-Lorelei was the bane of my existance. Her and her Cloyster's Clamp destroyed my Pokemon.
-Once I managed to 2HKO it with my Charizard, the rest of the Elite Four were pretty easy. Except Lance and his Aerodactyl.

Wow. Red was FAR more tedious than he is in G/S/C. It took me many tries to beat him, but it's done. Water Monotype on SoulSilver is complete. Now, I'm going to do a Bug Monotype on White to see how I fare. Hopefully, I can beat Tate and Liza on my Normal UMC for Emerald soon. Although, final results time.

I'm also jumping on the Fire type run bandwagon. I'm playing through Leaf Green and so far have just Charmander.

Hi everyone,I an new to this forum and I want to start my single mono-type challenge.I will do fighting type.I started Fire Red with Charmander and I'm curently looking for a Mankey.

UPDATE:I catched a wild Mankey,trained it until level 10,defeated Rival second time(Mankey vs Pidgey and Squirtle) and progressed to Viridian Woods.

Johto Update 1

Since I started my Johto part of my FIRE challenge yesterday, I've made quite a bit of progress.

-Obtained all 8 badges. All gym leaders except Claire were extremely easy. Attract helped me SO much during the battle.
-I don't remember Victory Road being so easy. Oh well, better for me.

Currently training on the Elite Four.
-I figured out that I can solo the entire Elite Four with just Typhlosion. It's just Lance I have trouble with now.

Haha, I seriously solo'd the League with Typhlosion. Rollout was the MVP move definitely.

Ok, i'm new to this challenge, and i'm about to do a monotype psychic in pearl :) will update later.

In my single type fighting challenge I just defeated Brock with my lv13 Mankey(karate chop is awesome) and reached Mt Moon,where I leveled up to lv 20.
Curent team:Mankey lv 20(scratch,fury swiped,low kick,karate chop)

UPDATE: Defeated Team Rocket in Mt Moon,Defeated Gary 3rd time,defeated mysty and visited bill to get the ss ticket.
Also I evolved Mankey into a Primeape

-Watched the same old boring intro from HGSS (I'm standing right in front of you Oak how can you not tell if I'm a boy or a girl?! OBVIOUSLY I'M A BOY! (pulls down pants to prove point)
-Obtained the usual things from Mom
-Obtained Running Shoes, Bicycle and GB Sounds (ironically enough these are three of my favourite items) from Mom
-Chose Cyndaquil (F) as my starter (I'm doing a Fire Mono-Type challenge of course I'm going to pick the Fire-Type starter)
-Gave Cyndaquil the nickname Agunimon (its a name from Digimon. Get used to this sort of name from me)
-Obtained the PokeGear (NB: I will be abbreviating PokeGear to just PG so its easier for me)
-Registered Prof. Elm in the PG
-Trained up Agunimon in Route 29
-Agunimon learned Smokescreen (Woo! I'm going to KO every Pokemon with just Smokescreen! NOT!)
-Agunimon learned Ember
-Arrived in Cherrygrove City
-Watched the same old boring "tour" from the "Guide Gent"
-Received the Old Rod from the "Guide Gent" (ok that's got to be some kind of innuendo there) which I'm obviously never going to use unless you can somehow find Fire-Type Pokemon in the water
-Obtained the Map Card (what's wrong with just the regular old Town Map)
-Obtained the Apricorn Box
-Saw a familiar Mystery Trainer from Sinnoh - one that is very powerful - standing in front of Mr Pokemon's house (no prizes for guessing who it is)
-Mystery Trainer (yes that is what I'm calling this person until someone figures out who the Trainer is) gave me an Eevee (F, Lv. 5, nickname is GeoGreymon)
NB: I will be evolving Eevee into Flareon A.S.A.P. which if I remember correctly for Storm Silver is Violet City
-Obtained the Mystery Egg from Mr Pokemon
-Received the Pokedex (both Johto and National Dex) from Prof. Oak and registered him in the PG (yeah I'm really, as Prof. Oak puts it, going to treat my Pokemon with love and care.I mean come on, who treats their Pokemon with love and care anymore. If I was going to do that, I would have named my character Ash or Brock, not Tai. NB: Sorry about these rants by the way, its just my way of dealing with my frustrations)
-Received an urgent phone call from Prof. Elm saying to get back to the lab NOW (oh come on how the hell do you expect me to do that huh!? I don't have any Pokemon that know Teleport or Fly so yeah)
-Passerby Boy (yes that's his name for now) had a hissy fit over me getting a Pokemon at the lab

-Was challenged by Passerby Boy
-Agunimon defeated Totodile using Ember
-Passerby Boy was defeated

-Saw Passerby Boy's real name
-Was falsely accused of stealing a Pokemon by the stupid cop in Prof. Elm's lab until Lyra came and cleared things up (wait what? why couldn't Prof. Elm have told the cop that he himself gave me the Pokemon I had)
-Told cop that the thief's name was Duskmon (Sorry but it was the only nickname I could think of)
-Gave Prof. Elm the Mystery Egg and showed him the Pokedex that Prof. Oak gave me
-Told Mom that I was going on a journey but decided not to let her save my money (I don't want her calling to tell me she bought some random item that I'm never going to use with my money)
-Obtained 15 Pokeballs from Lyra
-Somehow received a phone call from the Bike Shop saying to keep the Bike
-Defeated every Trainer between Cherrygrove City and Violet City (yes that includes Youngster Joey and his supposedly "top-percentage" Rattata

Yup, so I completed my Johto challenge by defeating Red last night. Beat him on my third try, too. :)

-Breezed through Kanto.
-Used my Master Ball on a Houndour named Doom.
-Couldn't get a Fire Stone for Growlithe, so he stayed as a Growlithe.
-Defeated Red on my 3rd try.
