Given that this region is most likely set around France, and that Paris is within France and is a well-known part of France, the thing that comes to my mind is love/romance. Or at least it's seen as the city of love. This begs the question as to whether this'll make any impact upon you in-game. What if your character went on a date with another, considering that Ferris Wheel rides in the Unova games were kind of likes dates, or every evening you could sit down with someone and discuss things and he would give you a reward at the end of you listened to him, and brought a coffee which would have some sort of effect on your Pokemon. Or maybe even one of the rivals openly having a crush on your character and trying to declare their love for your character throughout the game!

Nevertheless, would you like to see love/romance in these games on a deeper level than just shipping characters together in previous games? Do you think it would make the games more realistic, or more boring to you if romance was introduced? How else do you think love and romance could play a role in these games? Could the lovey-dovey trainer class appear a lot in the region as a result, or maybe the Champion has a wife, or a husband even, and actively gives them the spotlight or talks about them.

Souuuunds like harvest moon. Hm, could romance be why the girl is following you in this screenshot in the trainer:

Well, romance can be a nice concept; could bring out a lot of realism in the pokeworld~ Maybe like Harvest Moon you'd have Bachelors / Bachelorettes and you'd have to bring up a 'love' system up for any one you'd want? Maybe it can have some plot-ideas too, like, extra cutscenes or events depending on your relationship status~ It can be cool if you'd end up with a wife / husband with children maybe.

This is something I've actually been thinking about as well.

In addition, do you think there's a possibility the story might contain hidden themes surrounding the concept of sexuality as well?

I mean, we've had double entendre dialogue at the Ferris Wheel in the monochrome generation, so I'm curious as to how far GameFreak is willing to go.

Well they would have to think of the younger fan base...personally, I wouldn't want that, but that's cuz I'm immature, though I don't think they'll do it, keeping in mind the younger children that would be playing this game.

Well, yeah, with a rated 'E' for everyone game, they're thinking of the younger kids and the older players. Sooooo I doubt we'll get anything too suggestive! Perhaps when it comes to romance, maybe the most we'll see is a kiss on the cheek? I mean, Peach kisses Mario every time he saves her, so...

Whoa now buddy, I think we might be getting ahead of ourselves. Haha.

More than anything, I think there's a likely chance that the "lovey-dovey" trainer class will definitely be seen and quite possibly more than before. For the players themselves, I think it'd be sort of cute if we had a character crushing on us. Also not out of the realm of possibility, there might even be a town or a specific new Pokémon based off of the idea of love and romance.

It would be really nice to see some romance going on in Pokémon X and Pokémon, it surely would make the game feel more realistic and in which would lead to some special event taking place in where you'd get a special item or something, like a TM that contains Return. While if it's the opposite, the other person would end up giving you a TM containing Frustration.

I'd like to see some romance in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, there already has been some in other games outside of the Pokémon franchise, such as Zelda Skyward Sword and Zelda Spirit Tracks.

But knowing Game Freak, they'll probably go with the generic kind of things that don't involve romance.

I can see them going with the love mortif, perhaps evolutions for the heart shaped and heart nosed pokemon.

As for the player I would like it if the player we don't chose has a thing for the player like in DPPt where there was some hinted romance. Perhaps the evil team can tease us again, I loved that part with Mars seeming to ship Luke and Dawn.

The most romance they'd put in the game is someone flirting with you, or something similar to the ferris wheel thing. They kind of had a romance thing in Colosseum when people would call Wes and Rui a couple, but we're not gonna have a permanent partner in a main series game like that so that probably won't happen.

I think the marriage and children thing should stay in Harvest Moon. It doesn't fit into a main series Pokemon game. A spin off perhaps, but I can't see it being in the main games.

I think GameFreak experimented with this notion a bit by including Yancy and Curtis in the Gen V sequels. Although the most "romantic" thing you do with them is ride the Ferris Wheel.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Harvest Moon-ish romance system but like Sydian said, it doesn't really fit the main series of Pokemon games.

Yeah maybe a little crushy thingy, but not marriage and stuff. First of all, seeing as this is the pokemon universe, where mammals lay eggs, would humans also lay eggs? Second of all, that would be a game within a game, its like playing the sims on your pokemon game

While I'm both a lover of Harvest Moon and Pokemon, the idea of ending up with a spouse seems severely out of place. Think about it, time doesn't progress in Pokemon in the same fashion as Harvest Moon. People never age, regardless of whether or not you made certain decisions, unlike Harvest Moon. And, since you're suppose to be roughly 16 (Given we're sticking with the Black & White ages), the idea of marriage and having children not only seems a tad out there, but it would essentially take away from the principle of the game: To travel, collect Pokemon and battle. It seems a tad irresponsible to continue to do so when you have a spouse and a child o_O

However, I like the idea of having a girlfriend/boyfriend in the game that would essentially be your Doubles battle partner. You could take them on dates and even train against them in order to improve their Pokemon (As well as earn needed Experience). You could even trade Pokemon with them so you can obtain even more powerful Pokemon! Your girlfriend/boyfriend would probably reside in the Paris-esque city of the game and can be asked, after a certain point, to accompany you to a specific location to battle and train.

I would like to see some romance in the Pokémon game, like Lenora and her husband, but bigger. Maybe like Ruby and Sapphire from the Pokémon Adevntures Manga.

I'd like for all the previous games to be remade according to the Adventures storyline. They would be that much more awesome.

Wait, wait, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, I wasn't talking about being married when you're like 10+. @___@ Obviously that would be like, the very end of a game, sort of thing!

The idea of being married as a possible child / teen during your adventures is silly! I'm not suggesting that marriage should be implemented during game play; it can be nice at the end of the game at like, the credits or something, but, yeah.

Umm... no. Sorry. Just... no.

It's not the idea of romance in a game that concerns me - one of the other series I've played for years is Harvest Moon, so I'm fine with romance in a game. But HM stands as a good example of the problem - that's a game that's built around romance (well, and farming, of course). It's a central part of the game and many of the game mechanics exist solely to tie in with romance.

Imagine all of the development time and all of the coding and most importantly, all of the budget that went into the romance in those games.

Now, imagine GF investing all of that time and coding and budget into romance. Where's it all going to come from? They'd only have one choice - to cut something else. They already have fully developed games that don't include romance, so the only possible way they could include it would be to divert the resources from some other part of the game. And I just don't see how that could possibly be worth it.

Thinking about it though does sort of inspire me to play some Harvest Moon...

Mayyyybe I wouldn't mind if it was a date, I suppose, to make things interesting, but...eh.

A Pokemon battling date. I mean, if I'm gonna go on a date in the Pokemon world, I want something good to come out of it. That being exp points for my team. Duh.

If anything it'll be a comedic reference to love and not a real "date"... These games will never have verified love interests. I'd like to keep it that way, myself.

That doesn't mean that you have to lose stuff though, it might just be something subliminal and extra. I mean, Musicals were something Pokemon games could've gone without and they didn't, so... :x

How do you know they won't, though?
