I really like this idea you are throwing into the room. I love games where decisions really matter and actually influence the way the game progresses and maybe even lead to different endings. NPC's could comment on your achievements and losses, thank you for getting rid of the evil organisation, be sad or even angry for living in a world of chaos or anarchy after you failed...
Combining this general gaming idea with pokemon would make for a great game, an awesome story with depth, twists and plot turns...the possibilities would be endless.

If I'm honest though, as much as i love this idea, i really don't think it's ever going to be real. As you mentioned, GF and Pokemon go by the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality, and implementing this idea would call for a complete game overhaul and starting from scratch. Also, i guess it would be too much of a risk for them to completely change around the Pokemon Games as we know them...

But hey, dream's shouldn't die, right?

I love that idea! And in a sense, Zorogami has hit the nail on the head too~! I feel that Pokemon is just...kind of way too flat, personalty-wise. I mean, it feels like, after you beat the Pokemon league, you really get nothing more than just a congratulations, a pat on the back and access to some area that you've never seen before. I mean, that's all fine and dandy, but get rid of the bland personalities, yeah? I'd like to see what would happen if the main character failed, how would the NPCs react? And would they forgive him in the end if he did end up taking them down?

I mean I hope all of this doesn't seem too much to ask for, but still...

I think in the end you wouldn't be able to lose, but along the way the perception of the NPCs on you would be an interesting concept. Of course you'd redeem yourself and become the hero of the region, so that part won't change, but a more, I guess, REAL world would be much more interesting than sitting there with NPCs you recite the same two lines over and over.

Sadly, more than likely won't ever happen, but we can hope!

Well, here's a thought: do you guys think that the story line for these games will be just a continuation of another plot, of from say, from the other generation of pokemon games, or maybe from a spin off? A lot of people (even myself at one time) think that this plot can be based off of Gen 4's plot, because of the speculated references of dimensions and DNA. Granted, DNA was only hinted at Gen 4, I was wondering that can be a continuation of that.

I think this Generation will have a whole new story line, since it all takes places in a new region. I guess the DNA theme could be brought back and be a main part of the actual story, but i kinda doubt they will mention anything from past games, to stress the feeling of Pokemon X/Y being a complete new game and the beginning of a new Generation in Pokemon

Thus far the only storyline between generations to link with a previous one has been Generation 2 which had Rocket and mentioned what happened in the first games, however that was all. They may do that with this generation, or maybe they will reference the plot of another game like Generation 4's DP beginning with the Red Gyarados, perhaps they could mention the Submarine from generation 3 which was televised, or maybe somethings from Sinnoh which were also televised.

I really doubt that'd we would get a continuation of the story from a previous game, unless we were going to be able to travel back to the previous region again. As much as I'd love that, I doubt that is going to happen again, unless the new region has some area where it could connect to a previous one like Kanto and Johto did through Tohjo Falls.

I agree about no real continuation. If it were in the same generation it might be possible but the fact that these are new Pokemon means that it's a new generation and the story should start all over again, in a sense.

I just hope we get Xerneas/Yveltal BEFORE we face the Elite Four. I understand in B2W2 that it would have been extremely easy to beat the Champion if you had Kyurem so that's why they didn't have you catch it beforehand, but still.

Seeing as its another distant region from the previous five, I don't see there being any story continuation from any of the other games. Possibly a few nods here and there to acknowledge past events from another region, but no real plot tie-ins from other games. It's a new region with new people and new villains. It should have its own story.

The only real way a continuation of plot can work is if it's a sequel or a la RBY > GSC.

No matter how the storyline proceeds, I prefer they leave it up to the player's discretion of whether to catch the Yveltal or Xerneas either before or after the Elite 4, giving us more freewill on the matter.
