My starly is perfect. It is adamant nature and has Ivs of HP28, Attack 29, Defence 20, Speed 13, Special Attack 5 and Special Defence 15. I would have liked speed to have been better but the IV of attack and HP are great for what I want. Happy my Synchroniser worked.

:D My bird's still better, muahahaha! That's still very good shiny though, good luck using it. Mine has served me well for so long, I don't like leaving home without it.

Can I join please? I have alot hacked but still a few legit!!

You just ruined your credibility there. At least you were honest I guess. WHo am I to judge?

I see that MenceMaster is gone.... again.
I wonder who framed him again?

1,010 resets for Latias. I'm gonna sort out my Pokemon cards later. Today I got a secret rare holo Charmeleon. A remake card of the original charmeleon card. :)

I also got a Raichu Lv. X card last week, that card is badass, so colorful.
If I ever got back into battling, I have so many of the new cards I'd be a threat right away. Lots of Magnet Pokemon (both set holos and a promo Magnezone), the Raichu, and I keep getting Scizor! It's a good card and I like it (one of them is even reverse holo) but jeez I have like 5 already.
And not a single Shiny Voltorb, Drifloon or Duskull card yet. :(

But most of the others make up for it.

Good luck everyone. I hope I get Latias soon. I need a tiny break from it so this evening I plan on doing the above along with training some Pokemon for a practice battle with my friend, then finishing off with some 360.

I'll SR Latias more later tonight.
Which will wrap up my day I guess. It's been a pretty good holiday season.

Me wanting a Starly came from seeing a member use it. May have been you but I can't remember. I need to get a team sorted still. I looked at my stats on Daimond and they awful. Only fought about 4,000 pokemon on it. Although I use pearl to EV train as I have Pokerus on it. Not sure on my next target. Might go for an SR shiny. I have never gotten one.

couldn't come here yesterday cause I was buying a poke emerald :D
I bought it cause a friend of mine said that there's a trick that makes shiny hunting for starters/legends much easier... something about 200 numbers that changes in 1 second and u gotta press A to make then keep the same and get a shiny like that Oo
I watched some utube videos but couldn't understand it well... can someone here explain me it? ^^"
btw mence is gone (again ¬¬)

Metal Mario did a guide about this. If you PM him I'm sure he will give you a copy.

Nothing new for me. Been doing some EV training on Starly. I have nearly finished the attack EV and will quickly do speed as that is the easiest. After that It will be speed and finally getting the moveset sorted. After all this I will move back onto shiny hunting. I may get one while I am EV training but I'm not very lucky when it comes to a shiny while EV training.

I'd like a copy of this guide to Emerald as well that way I can fully understand what I am trying to do. :P

Uh... No progress since last time I was here because I ran out of time but I did raise my Raichu.

Poor IVs but he will still pack a punch in my practice battles.
Now to finally check my shiny Caterpie and raise the best one of those.

Choice Scarf + Sleep Powder.

I'm also going to trade one of them and a Water Stone to one my friends/comrades/pupils. I was supposed to give him one a while back but never did and he noticed I had a bunch of Water Stones and he wanted one to evolve his Staryu with, so that way I can clear both at once.

I'm still considering chaining 2 Pokemon, but I also have to train 2 more after Butterfree and SR for Latias and then there's work and all that other stuff so all in due time I guess.

Good luck everyone! :)

Also, you CAN catch Pokémon while escorting somebody, just knock out the person's Pokemon, and then the non-shiny wild Pokemon.
Just like my friend Kakkadragon did.

I wish I had known that back then... That would've really helped me.

I never really made a guide on the matter of Emerald's RNG, just a long post. :P

The gist of it says that Emerald is a BAD game for SRing shinies on. Basically, it takes an inordinate amount of luck to get a "lucky ID" to begin with. If you do manage to get one, however, the payoff is extraordinary. DDD's has a lucky ID.

Also, "ID" isn't just the Trainer ID. It also includes the Hidden ID (which you usually don't know) and the trainer's name. Each of these affect the chances of finding shinies on Emerald version. So just trying to get the same Trainer ID as someone else (very hard anyway) will not do you any good.

If you want to get a lucky ID, your best option is to try to SR a starter, remembering to begin a new save file every 50 SRs or so.

On the matter of all this "200 numbers" BS: There is no magic number of 200. That is a ballpark estimate of the odds. The odds actually follow a normal distribution ("bell curve") varying based on how long it takes you to press the buttons. If you're slow and sloppy, it will be a very wide curve encompassing many values. (More IDs are lucky. The lucky odds are lower.) If you're fast and tidy, it will be a much narrower curve. (Fewer IDs are lucky, but the odds on a lucky ID are much greater.)

Today is the first day of class at Uni. :) It's going to be a long trip, since the transit strike is still in effect, but I might find some time for hunting. I'll be changing pace and going after a totally different secret Pokéradar shiny. It's a badass one I've been somewhat interested in since Gen3, but it was much too hard to hunt on R/S/E.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had hacked there game at some point as I have heard there is a hack that will give you shiny Pokemon and but they will always be identical in nature and IV. That was probably what they were doing.

Nothing new from me. Just done some more EV training and checked a few f the IVs on my other 29 shiny Geodude and some have great IVs but wrong natures.

Well I'm still SRing for Darkrai, but the darn thing won't shine. I really want Darkrai to be shiny soon, I have a few things I want to do in Platinum(the battle park for one)

I'm also hunting for shiny Spheal again. I decided to leave Regirock in Ruby and go back into Shoal cave. I've been after shiny Spheal for a while, so I hope that it won't take me a month or more to get it to shine.

Congrats to new shinies everyone. SHINE Darkrai and Spheal.

This is normal for Emerald. The whole problem with Emerald's RNG is that the numbers it makes aren't ... random enough. :P The RNG is always cycling through the same set of numbers when you turn on the game (think of it like the reel in a slot machine), so the only thing that determines which numbers you get is the time it takes you to pick up a Pokémon. Since there's only a number which gives a shiny roughly every 8192 numbers, and because it doesn't take nearly long enough per SR to cycle through that many numbers, you'd be lucky to find so much as one shiny in the first bunch of numbers. Since the very next number (well, two numbers) are used to give the Pokémon its IVs, a shiny SRed on Emerald will always (unless your luck is MAD INSANE and there are 2+ shiny values in your first bunch of numbers) have the same IVs and nature.

Remembering that this RNG repetition ("RNG clones") is usually a bad thing, let's put it into perspective. For my Chikorita breeding, I keep an SP turned on, plugged in, at the menu screen, idle, for some random number of days just to make sure I'm getting very fair random numbers. This should be more than necessary. It usually only takes the game a few minutes to draw a shiny value.

Personal progress: My chains keep breaking on perfect arrangements. The more I chain, the more I figure that there really are no rules beyond the basics, and that there truly is just a constant, 10% chance that your chain will break for no reason whatsoever.

so, is much easier or harder to get a SRed shiny in emerald than in ruby or sapphire depending on the ID number?

nothing new for now.

good luck everyone and congratulations for new shinies.

I'm still SRing for shiny Darkrai in Platinum. Going through my old posts, I started SRing for shiny Darkrai on December 19th(my birthday ^_^), so I am on Day 19 of SRing(not bothering with the SR count, as I don't remember what number I'm on, lol). I hope that it appears before the 19th of this month, as it will be a month of SRing then.

I'm also Sweet Scenting for a shiny Spheal in Ruby while I hunt Darkrai. I haven't encountered anything yet, and I'm around 3400 encounters for a shiny. I'll cross my fingers that it'll appear before the 8000 mark :P.

Congrats to new shinies everyone.

EDIT: A friend of mine recently got a shiny Darkrai in Platinum, now I'm more determined than ever to get mine. I'm still SRing for Darkrai, but I'm not having much luck in getting it to shine. I've stopped all other shiny hunts until I get my shiny Darkrai. Wish me luck! SHINE Darkrai!!

I fixed the picture, so it isn't as big
Spoiler:

Shiny Darkrai appeared in Platinum ^_^.

On the first turn I had my Smeargle use Spore to put Darkrai to sleep. While it was sleeping, I used Super Fang on it twice to lower its health down to yellow HP. It woke up on the third turn, so I got Smeargle to put it to sleep with Spore.

While it was sleeping, I used Super Fang to lower its HP down to the red range. I then started throwing Luxury Balls at it, but it shook free 4 times, and broke free from 3 shakes twice. I had to put it back to sleep again, as it woke up, so I threw another Luxury Ball.

I was preparing myself to be disappointed, as I figure it would break free. One shake, two shakes, three shakes, click. Shiny Darkrai was caught :D.

After skimming past the scene after Darkrai, I ran into the Pokemon Center and checked out my new shiny. To my surprise, my Timid synchronize actually worked :o.

I'll be checking its IV's later. I won't be able to celebrate properly, as I'm doing it out of respect for my nan, who passed away this morning. I'm dedicating this shiny to her, may she rest in peace. Congrats to new shinies everyone.

EDIT: Yesterday night, I started chaining for shiny Swinub, to get revenge on the 38 break a few weeks ago. Took several tries, but I finally got a 40 chain. It took a while, but I got a shiny patch, inside was a Hasty female shiny Swinub. I only managed to catch one, and I broke my chain at 54, beating Houndour by one :P.

I'm sorry to hear that your loved one passed away, but I'm happy that you finally got that shiny Darkrai.

I'm up to around 1,200+ resets on Latias, haven't been playing all that much. I did battle aragornbird last night, and lost by a hair. I exceeded my expectations of myself greatly, so I'm actually quite happy.

Now.... hopefully Latias will shine soon. I have some other loose targets, and 2 chain targets I haven't started on yet.... One of them's gonna be hard because it's another GBA Insertion Pokemon, and the other one can end the battle so I'll have to find a way around that.
I still have to train the Pokemon I was going to train too, I just haven't had time and it's Friday already, normally I would say it's good but this week went by too fast.

Good luck everyone!
