As the titles says, CC3 is almost out of beta. If there are no more bugs found within the next few weeks I would say this game trilogy is completed. Changes are listed below in the CC3 spoiler section. Thanks to everyone who has contributed!

A few years back I made an open world Pokemon game patch for a friend of mine. He requested a Pokemon game that was completely open world, with the Gym Leaders being the most powerful trainers around. And that is exactly what this game is.
At the time of its creation (in 2016) it was the only open world Pokemon game available. Since its release it has received two sequels, finishing off the trilogy.

Please give it a try and let me know what you think. These games can be played in any order, however the story progression is a thing. That being said, the later games are much more polished.

Clays' Calamity I
Original Game: Pokemon Fire Red
Patch Number: v10
COMPLETED

Spoiler:

Game Production/History:
This was the very first open world Pokemon game. Created in early 2016, this patch was never meant to be released to the public as it was a custom mod for a friend. However, since Clays Calamity II has been growing in popularity, many people are requested the first game be released.

-------------------------------

Game Story:
In this first ever open-world expansion of Kanto you play as Clay; an overly cocky and thorough Pokemon trainer. Clay has one mission on his mind, to contour and beat every gym leader like no one has ever beaten them before. He has a plan, and he is going to follow through. How? By being the best. Why? Because he can.
He starts his travels with a Magikarp and a Master Ball. All he needs in order to sweep every trainer, gym leader and organized crime syndicate in Kanto. He knows he is the best, and no one stands a chance.
Play Clays Calamity now and see how he does it!

-------------------------------

Game Play:
The game plays exactly as Fire Red with a couple exceptions.
1. The over world maps of ALL routes/towns have been edited for an open world, go anywhere environment.
2. Gym leaders have increased in difficulty and are meant to be battled after all trainers are defeated. If you have played Clays Calamity II don’t think this game is on the same level of difficulty. The leaders in this game are much lower leveled.
3. All rival battles have been removed.
4. Islands are skippable.
5. Pokemon have been added to routes (all starters within gen three are available within the first couple of routes).
6. No starter Pokemon from Oak. Instead you are given a Master Ball. Catch whichever Pokemon you want to start with.
Post Game:
Unlike Clays Calamity II there is no Post Game in this patch. When Mewtwo/Champion is defeated (because of it being open world, either of those could be done before/after one another) the game is over.

-------------------------------

Features:
• There is NOT a Special/Physical split
• ONLY Pokemon from Gen 1- Gen 3 are available
• Master Balls are purchasable once at the Elite Four
• Hidden passages are strung throughout Kanto (not as many as Clays Calamity II though)

Clays' Calamity II
Original Game: Pokemon Fire Red
UPDATED Patch Number: v5.1
Screen shots updated
COMPLETED

Spoiler:

-------------------------------

Game history:

This game takes place several years after Clay’s Calamity I, where the main character, Clay, embarks on a quest through the open world of Kanto to become champion. After completing the league Clay then goes into hiding and is never seen again. Clay’s tremendous concurring of every trainer and gym leader shook Kanto so much that all the gym leaders became stronger in an attempt to never let someone wreck their world has hard again.

What is your job? To find and defeat Clay!

Journey through the completely open world of Kanto with Pokemon from all three generations and experience the most difficult Pokemon game ever created. Gym leaders are the strongest enemies (second only to the Elite Four) that you can face and Pokemon are greatly versified in type and level.

Every Gym Leader you defeat will bring you one step closer to finding Clay. Solve the mystery and defeat Clay to complete this Pokemon game!

-------------------------------

Game play:

You will start the game with a Magikarp and a Master Ball. This is meant as a means to capture your very first Pokemon. You may travel anywhere you wish (because it is open world), but the Pokemon in the routes around Viridian are the best to start with (IE, the original 9 starters). After capturing your first Pokemon go to the Viridian City gym which is the starting point for this venture. From there piece together clues to find Clay, the most powerful Pokemon Master that ever rocked Kanto!

-------------------------------

Hints:

• Viridian Gym is a free-be gym. Go there to begin your journey.
• Brock and Misty are the only push over gym leaders.
• Hidden passages and secret warps are scattered throughout the Kanto region.

-------------------------------

Features/Modifications:
• Starting town is Viridian
• Warp tiles added in multiple places for fast travel: (Viridian to Pallet, Pallet to Cinnabar, ect)
• Increased wild Pokemon levels
• Increased gym difficulties
• Running shoes immediately
• Open world with all minor obstacles removed (cut-able trees, optional paths, etc)
• Secret passages to other routes
• Increased variety of Pokemon
• Moltres back in Victory Road
• Mew available in areas based on folk-lore (from the original 1998 red/blue release) and Pokemon Adventure Manga.
• Pokemon available based on level, type and surroundings (example: all Moon Stone evolutions are available around/inside Mt. Moon, top tear Pokemon surrounding MewTwo, etc).
• Islands are optional (with fast warps to end triggers if wanted)
UPDATED! New Physical/Special Split

-------------------------------

Screen Shots:

(Please see attachment for screen shot images here)

Screen Shots: CC2-ALL.png

These screen shots were taken just from starting the game. I played until my Magikarp fainted. I traveled from Viridian to Cinnabar, Fuchsia, Pewter and Mt. Moon before a Nidoqueen got me.

Clays' Calamity III
Original Game: Pokemon Fire Red
v3.9.3
Updated 7/11/18
Screen shots updated - Bugs fixed
CURRENTLY IN BETA!

Spoiler:

-------------------------------

Story:
Ten years have passed sense an unnamed hero stormed Kanto and defeated the strongest Pokemon Master in the Indigo League, Clay. The battle lasted several days, resulting in the destruction of a city and the reduction of Pokemon gym. Without the minimum requirement of eight official gyms Kanto was knocked out of the Pokemon League Verified Regions.

One decade has passed and Kanto has now been re-entered into the League. Gym Leaders have been re-evaluated and trainers have been raising their skills. Try your hand at this new take on an old generation of Pokemon; the conclusion of the open-world, Fire Red trilogy, Clay’s Calamity III.

-------------------------------

What this game offers:
This game, like the previous two, is an open world Pokemon patch of Fire Red. The available Pokemon have been greatly expanded upon and an attempt has been made to make every Pokemon (within the first three generations) available.

All blocked passages, rival battle scripts, cuttable trees, locked doors and trainer blockers have been removed, making this a completely open world experience from the opening screen. Travel from city to city on boats, by foot or by hidden warp pads.

This game, keeping with the aspect of the first two, has Pokemon locations based upon folk-lore, type regions, environmental factors (like moon stones) and level diversity.

Hidden passages litter the region and secret trainers wait to be found. Continue the journey and follow this story to the epic conclusion!

Man I love this concept! The overworld looks a bit rough round the edges, but I'm glad to see this type of game coming together, I've been waiting for an open roaming hack for a while!

Best of luck with this! With a little cleaning up I think this idea could really go places.
Play Altered Emerald here!

Thanks to DizzyEgg and the EBEU team for the battle engine, features, and dynamic expansion, lu-ho for a-map, gamer2020 for pge, Microsoft Windows for Task Manager, about 5 different hex editors, Chaos rush for sprites and an animation disable tutorial, Spherical Ice for several excellent asm routines, Neon Skylar for Pokemon data past gen 3, YAPE while it lasted, Scizz, Knizz, darthatron's numerous tools, hackmew, Chronosplit and yall for playing.

Altered Emerald is off on break for a bit now. This patch is looking really nice and polished, so it's staying up for a while.

Thank you! It was a little rushed (because I was working on it during down time) but for the most part the structure is there. I do need to tweak alot of the overworld though xD

Pretty cool! Look forward to trying it out soon.

Also, I've never heard of the first game, Clay's Calamity I.
The first game was strictly made for my friend, Clay, who promptly beat the game quite easily and hounded me for not making it more difficult. So then came round two, lol.

If you do start it please let me know what you think :)!

Loving the game so far! I was wondering if there was any way to evolve my Kadabra?
Currently you must trade the Pokemon. There are several videos on YouTube on how to do this via emulation-application, see if one of them works for you.

The other option is to capture an Alakazam. If I am not mistaken I believe I added them into the route to the left of Lavender Town.

I havent tried the game yet but does this have PSS Split, New Moves, Abilities, and etc.? I really like the concept of this game tho, Kudos to you!~
The game has the standard Gen 3 abilities, sprites, moves and items. Nothing additional was added to the original game content.

And thank you very much! I hope that if you do end up playing it you enjoy it :)!

So I am quite surprised about the publicity this patch is getting (youtube videos, cover art, etc.). I was thinking I should probably make a third one, similar to this game but more polished that continues the story to a conclusion.

Any suggestions for improvements in the next game? Ones that would still keep this game Gen 3 based?

I have already decided to make some map tweaks (bigger cities when needed) and Pokemon evolutions via level up instead of trade. Anything else needed changed?

When you say Gen 3 based, what do you mean? Would there be any way to convince you to add some of the more logical features of future generations such as PSS? Not to mention adding in the evolution lines of pokemon from generation 3 who get additional evolutions in later games?

When I say Gen 3 I mean that I do not want it to alter much from the original Fire Red game. I do agree though, the PSS would be nice to add in. The evo's I'm not took keen on, but I can defiantly look into it.

Thanks for the tips :)!

Just letting everyone know, I am currently working on Clay's Calamity III. I have updated the first post with what can be expected in the game.

Due to increased popularity and demand, I have released Clay's Calamity I in the first post as well.

I have also included a Psychical/Special split for Clay's Calamity II (updated v5.1).

Please let me know what you all think. Thanks for the support!

I just watched a complete play through of clays calamity II on youtube, and I must say, for everyone who has played it, I am sorry for all the bugs. Goodness gracious, was it freaking hilarious to watch this guy run through all the bugs, but man, I felt bad that it wasnt more polished.

Just so everyone knows...

I plan on making Clays Calamity III a polished product. I have already pumped more time into it than I did both CC1 and CC2 combined.

Work is still being done on it. I will be giving updates as they arise.

Currently all the wild pokemon have been added (including all gen1-gen3 pokemon available in kanto), evolution added and the open world completed.

I am working on the gym leaders and trainers. This time around I plan on having an actual level curve and improving trainers AI and pokemon (hopefully adding in a full party for each trainer).

If there is anything else you all would like to see please let me know and I'll try to include it.

Hey man, it was actually quite fun to play through. All the bugs made it quite the unique experience, and never was I really upset about them; they made the game more charming, since there was nothing game breaking. Then again, I enjoy games like Goat Simulator and Sonic 06, so I'm probably not one to speak, lol.

As I mentioned on YouTube, I'll definitely be giving Clay's Calamity III a try when it's out, and feel free to hit me up if you want a beta tester or some help/advice.

Thanks! I sure will. I am glad you enjoyed the second one. I am almost to the point of testing. I have a few bugs to fix that just now came up but I'll let you know as soon as its available for testing.
