Another Galaxy

In this place, space and people don't quite work the same way as they do in our world. The Galaxy is a spiral, but it contains many phenomena we have yet to see in our own. Firstly, there are plenty of inhabited planets. Many were once the evolutionary ground for specific space-traveling races, others have been colonized through the millions of years, some several times.

Secondly, there is air in space. Not everywhere, and sometimes not very oxygenated or healthy, but close to inhabited planets you can usually take a stroll outside your spaceship with only a warm jacket to shield you from the cold openness of the Galaxy. How even is that possible, you ask? Don't ask yet. Maybe you will get answers in time, or maybe you will simply have to accept it.

Thirdly, while there has yet to be any well documented proof, there are many signs that point towards the existence of a greater being. A God, or several. Although, some choose to call the strange signs magic, and research how to reproduce them at will rather than spend their time praying to deities. The paths are many, as are the people.
