The opposite of my other thread. Which genre of anime/manga do you think is the worst? What about it makes it so bad? What could be done with this genre to make you watch something within it? What are some examples of the worst it has to offer?

I personally cannot stand basically any sort of horror, and there is nothing that can be done to make horror appealing to me, as this basically holds across all mediums. I'm just simply not a fan of the scares and shocks that horror has to offer.

Josei for me...

A few female friends have recommended some things in that genre they like, and wow... do I end up hating them all. I can even somewhat handle Shoujo, but never Josei.

Josei just has a certain vibe to it that does not resonate with me whatsoever. The way they write men is one of them.

I probably dislike horrar/anything with truck loads of blood and dark themes most.

I still feel icky when those types of anime are popular too though not as strongly as I used to get.

Oddly enough......I did love Madoka Majika, even if its sort of that type of anime (but rebellion IS one of my least most favorite movies ever).

Also i'm pretty tollerent of death note fans too. I think what attracts a lot of people I knew to death note most was it was kinda an anime that got people thinking and wondering things, anyways. Thats sort of cool :3

Self insert anime like Anime De Training. They're fanservice shows with no substance whatsoever. Since the idea of these shows is to be the protagonist, the characters will take long pauses so the viewer can fill in the blanks. It makes each show feel like an inappropriate Dora the Explorer.

Don't really watch anime, never really have... but harem is evil. You throw a boring-as-fuck male into a room full of archetypes that either hate him or love him from the off, and there'll inevitably be an incident where he slips and touches one of their, ahem, breasts, and then they'll freak out and kick the shit out of him. Otherwise it is a dull girl surrounded by gag-worthy men who glisten a lot.

This formula makes me depressed.

Ecchi is rubbish. I don't even want to think about how horrible hentai is. But good lord! I am surprised that everyone is a despiser of mechas! Mecha shows kick arse. They give me shivers.

Romance is bad. Genuinely bad. Leave it to people with imagination, or at the very least experience!

I can't say any genre on its own is bad; even genres that don't appeal to me and usually turn in awful stories in my eyes can have a few diamonds in the rough.

But the one with the fewest diamonds has gotta be the imouto genre. Not gonna knock anyone that likes it, but holy moly, series here range from awful to creepy to extremely uncomfortable. I would rather play Sonic Riders, an awful racing game in my opinion, than watch any show in this genre. I am a firm believer that any genre can have diamonds in the rough, but this...I doubt I'll be finding many.

Hentai, Incest and Ecchi are the strangest genre out there, even why Japan is so different from the west when it comes to produce their animation targeted for certain demographics.

Hmmm, i don't like it when there are ecchi stuff in anime where it's deep with romance and action.. For example in Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo(how not to summon demon lord) i would have liked it more if there were less ecchi stuff, or in fairy tail (they remain good but less ecchi would be better )

Sports. I've always hated sports in general, so I tend to avoid watching that sort of anime.

That said, Inazuma Eleven was semi-decent.

I tend to think every genre has something to offer if you look hard enough, but I can't say the same for ecchi. Ecchi is basically just porn without plot and that doesn't interest me at all.

Im not a fan of isekai because it's super over done and they rarely do anything unique.

Horror is a decent genre generally speaking , but I don't think anime is the best genre to show it. I've seen maybe a couple of decent horror anime as opposed to many more that just do it wrong.
