A slice of life/adventure M rated RP! things tend to die

The continent of Adonea, a continent lying in a fantasy world sharing many cultures and races but also a continent that has experienced quite a few wars in the past. It's a continent where magic/runes and monsters play a big roll in normal everyday life.

Your story takes place in the year 1616 in a small town called Ariadna in the kingdom of Norad. A kingdom lying in the center of the continent and ruled peacefully by king Gilbert with prince Ivan as next in line. Ariadna is situated near the border of the Sech's Empire. A brave move by the first settler that moved there to start the town nearly 30 years ago. Nowadays it doesn't matter anymore but in the past both Ariadna and neighboring towns Kardia and Selphia experienced many attempts of infiltration by the Sech's empire, an Empire said to have gained most of it's land by conquering. This endless war finally came to an end when Emperor Ethelberd was defeated in 1612 and the empire was inherited by his nephew Elias. The Sech's empire is now a peaceful empire that seeks to right their past wrong doings by helping the nearby kingdoms.

The kingdom of Norad entered a medieval era while technology like refrigerators and mixers were made available by the Sech's Empire who are in a machinery era. Unlike the Sech's machine civilization, the kingdom of Norad has a magic civilization meaning that smaller towns usually don't have a lot of machinery available like the bigger cities do. The magic civilization of kingdom of Norad depend on something calles Runes which is the life source of everything. On the north side of Norad lies the kingdom of Roland, a friendly kingdom that has established a peace treaty with the kingdom of Norad since ages. The same can be said of Repulic of Eucraft situated on the East of Norad. Unlike the kingdom of Norad and the kingdom of Roland, the republic of Eucraft entered a mixture of Sengoku Period and Edo Period. It's people are samurai, ninja, merchants and miko (Shrine priestess and maidens).

Lastly there is the Land of the Elves. It's islands are covered in forests and used to have an Elven Queen until they went into a diplomatic state in recent years. Elves venture into the continent more and more and are starting to become more common. The family of De-Sainte Coquille are the cause of this as they have a long lasting friendship with the elves and helped them become independent from a royal family.

XMGJHrk.png

  • Judeo-Christian: A religion with a huge following in both in the Kingdom of Roland and Norad. It's similar to the christian religion in the real world where there's only one god. It has churches and a hierarchical structure of priests and nuns.
  • Dragon Worship: a lesser common religion where it's following believes in the protection of native dragons Terrable, Fiersome, Aquaticus and Ventuswill and/or the Arch dragons of which only one name is known, Fenith. Ventuswill is said to rule over the town of Selphia while Fenith is mostly worshipped around the Fenith Islands in the Fenith Sea. The dragons are respected in this religion because the amount of runes their bodies recycle/reproduce and they have no churches.
  • Shinto: The Shinto religion is the main religion of the Republic of Eucraft. They have several shrines and several gods like the Shinto religion in the real words. Shrine priestesses watched over those shrines while shrine maidens are apprentices. Believers of the Shinto religion have started making small shrines in villages they live in to represent their religion.
  • Runes: Although runes are no religion, every inhabitant on the continent of Adonea know they exist. Runes are the life force of everything. When vegetables are raised with care, they emit crystalized Runes. Runeys are something very close to the spirits, capable of gathering the runes and influencing them. When runeys create a great effect on the environment such as affecting crop growth or rainfall, whether postively or negatively, it's called a "rune wonder". Ordinary people can see Runeys although they do not appear frequently.

IB9DAAA.png

  • Humans: Humanity is the dominant race in the continent of Adonea with the Land of the Elves as only exception where Elves are dominant. Humans live in villages. Humans originating from the Republic of Eucraft tend to look more asian and almost all of them have black hair.
  • Elves: Elves are the dominant race in the Land of the Elves but in recent years they have started to settle down in Norad as well. They have pointy ears and look humans for the most part. Elves are always women
    Example:
    Spoiler:
  • Dwarves: Dwarves are a race that live in tribes/clans throughout the kingdom of Norad and the kingdom of Roland. Some clans have specific traits like for example silver eyes. It's said that a dwarves natural talent is forging. Some traits dwarves all have in common are: their ears are pointed (though smaller than elves' ears) and they have a special intonation in their speech. Dwarves are human sized and are always men.
    example:
    Spoiler:
  • Earthmates: Earthmates are humans with a special connection to the earth. In ancient times the term "Earthmate" used to refer to people with a wide range of abilities that allowed them, to some extent, to control the powers of runes, the earth and spirits at will. In modern times the powers of Earthmates have greatly diminished, and since then the term acquired a broader use to refer to people who inherited some Earthmate abilities. Earthmates aren't very common nowadays. This RP will not accept Earthmates due to various reasons.
  • Half-monsters: Those who are Half-Monster are able to change into that monster at will. However, they will also change when under a great deal of stress, or if the runes inside their bodies are somehow imbalanced. It is unknown if it is possible to change into any type of monster, as the only types known are Woolies and a Phoenix-like birds.
  • Univir: Univers are humanlike beings with one horn on the center of their foreheads. Their source of magical abilities comes from the horn, though it is unknown how the two are connected. Capes are the formal attire of univir and they have ears similar to elves. They live in Sahara like deserts in the Kingdom of Norad and are not often seen in human towns.
    Example:
    Spoiler:
  • Mermaids: Mermaids transform into their more fishy form when they touch water, including when it is raining or snowing. Even when in mermaid-form due to rain, they are still able to move around the land as if they were normally walking, except their feet change to a tail. However, in their human forms, they can be identified by the fins on their wrists and the sides of their heads. Their residence is in the kingdom in the sea, although no one knows where.

The town of Ariadna is a town that was settled only 30 years ago in 1586, meaning that it's not very old. Some of the residents are born in this town while others moved to this town while it was being settled. Ariadna is similar to Sharance, a neighbouring town, in layout due to that the first villager moved from that town to an open area beneath it. Surrounding this town are many dungeons and pathways made for travellers to easily cross Ariadna or visit the small town for supplies. Ariadna has a town center with a tree in the middle that is believed to be the residence of a guardian spirit. Although many adults believe this to be a children story. A little down the road lies a lake with a beach.

Ariadna has four seasons in which it always snows and freezes in the winter season while summers are always hot but not humid due to not being a coast town. It's a small town where all locals know each other and every house/building has a small garden in which villagers can tend to crops. Ariadna has several festivals occurring throughout the months. This fantasy world has only 4 months a year. Month 1 is Spring, Month 2 is Summer, Months 3 is Fall and Month 4 is Winter and also the end of the year. Each month has 30 days. Those 4 months feel like a regular year with 12 months for all characters.

Building/shops that have opened in Ariadna:
  • Inn/Bathhouse
  • Tailor
  • Blacksmith
  • Clinic
  • Library
  • Flower shop
  • Carpentry
  • Laboratory
  • Felix's Farm
  • Jessica's monster Farm

Important traditions:
  • When you want to propose to someone, it's tradition to craft the engagement ring yourself.
  • In Ariadna, it's tradition to hold your wedding in the church even when you're not a follower. This differs per town in the kingdom of Norad.
  • There is a market board in front of the guardian tree on which citizens can post requests for certain items or request help for anything else.
  • It's normal for citizens to also be adventurers or at least travel to certain places with certain monsters for certain items. They can also choose to request the item that is needed on the market board. Old people are not very likely to travel to dungeons.
  • There's a harvest festival every month in which citizens compare their self grown crops and can possibly win a prize for best crop.

(This list will be filled as players join. Players are allowed to own shops as a source of income and foundation for interaction with other players as they need to possibly buy something from you. Please check this list before you decide on a shop as I will only allow one of each shop.)

Ideas for shops:
  • General store (This shop sells vegetable seeds, vegetables and ingredients for cooking. You can also buy other small stuff there like farming equipment.)
  • Church
  • Please discuss anything else you may come up with

Monsters all come from a dimension known as "The Forest of Beginnings" and return there if defeated. Monsters come out of this dimension through glowing spheres known as "Gates". Monsters can be tamed but only if the character owns a monster barn. Monsters that are commonly tamed are ones that represent farm animals. Woolies represent sheeps, Buffamoo respresent cows (look at the monster list in Privera forest where they are found)

All weapons in the kingdom of Norad are equipped with Tamitaya. Tamitaya is a magic that returns the souls of monsters where they belong instead of completely killing them. Bodies are left behind and can be looted for monster drops, although the body disappears after a short while.

Who are you? You are either a local that moved to this town a while ago, someone who was born into this town or an outsider who recently came to this town and is not yet acquainted with the locals as much as everyone else. You can also be an outsider that has to yet come to this town. It depends on the story you want to follow with your character and the goals you set for them. Either way, you are or are going to be part of Ariadna's community in which you participate in certain festivals or storywise events that will happen along the way and maybe make friends with other townsfolk as well. You can adventure through dungeons, work at your store or bum around lazying all day but keep in mind that lazying around will not generate income for you to live on!

You can be literally anything character wise and any of the races except earthmates and mermaids. You can be a married man/woman with a family, you can be a child, you can be an old person, you can be a teenager or a regular adult. It depends on what you goal you are setting for your characters and what story you want to follow. Keep limitations in mind as even though this is a sandbox RP, there will be a storyline characters can choose to follow and children are probably not allowed to do any dangerous stuff and old people aren't able to do very much. When choosing your character race, please keep in mind that some races are less frequent or might not appear at all. The dominant race is humans, I will allow different races but keep other players in mind.

You can discuss your characters and maybe their bonds in the discord server. This is greatly recommended in case of childhood friends, regular friends, business partners etc. especially for locals.
https://discord.gg/ZSCdbAz

Your characters may fight in battles with monsters or other people. Your character can use any weapon they prefer from the below list:
  • Short Sword
  • Long Sword
  • Spear
  • Battle Axe
  • Battle Hammer
  • Dual Blades (two short swords)
  • Gloves (Fists)
  • Staff (for mainly magic users)

(You can find the available equipment here: https://therunefactory.fandom.com/wiki/Equipment_(RF4) )

Magic can be used by characters but need to be learned from books. Not every person in the kingdom of Norad is great with magic but the more someone uses it, the better they get at it. Books can be bought from merchant and/or library's. More magic can be learned than what's on this list.

Magic that can be learned:
  • Cure - Cures wounds but is not very effective for near-dead wounds. It definitely can keep someone alive a bit longer.
  • Master Cure - Strong cure magic that is able to heal deeper wounds and can possibly save someone from a near-dead experience. Once the victim is too far gone, it's not effective anymore.
  • Fireball: Hurls small fireballs. Can hurl up to 3 at a time. Not very strong but still able to do plenty of damage.
  • Big Fire: Hurls large fireballs. Can hurl up to 2 at a time. Stronger than Fireball.
  • Explosion: Hurls giant fireballs that cause explosions on impact, damaging their surroundings. Strongest Fire Magic.
  • Water Laser: Emits a water beam that can penetrate stone. The longer you maintain it, the bigger the impact.
  • Parallel Laser: Emits 2 water beams that can penetrate stone. The longer you maintain them, the bigger the impact.
  • Delta Laser: Emits 3 water beams that can penetrate stone. Particularly effective when surrounded by foes. Strongest Water magic.
  • Screw Rock: Summons sharp rocks that substitute for your fists. Designed for fighter mages.
  • Earth Spike: Summons stone pillars that track enemies and strike them from below.
  • Avenger Rock: Stab its target with a large rock. Also known as the "drill punch."
  • Sonic Wind: Emits spinning wind blades that automatically track and shred their foes to pieces.
  • Double Sonic: Emits 2 spinning wind blades. Their arched trajectory makes it hard to attack enemies in front.
  • Penetrate Sonic: Emits 3 spinning wind blades that move freely in multiple directions, shredding to bits all who get in their way.
  • Light Barrier: Emits 2 light balls in front of you, protecting from enemies.
  • Shine: Emits 4 light balls that spin around you, protecting you from enemies.
  • Prism: Emits spinning light balls. Provides complete protection from all enemies for a short while.
  • Dark ball: Emits a dark light ball that travels slowly and destroys everything in its way. Requires a strong mage to be able to cast it.
  • Dark Snake: Emits a dark light ball that snakes forward slowly and destroys everything in its path. Requires a strong mage to be able to cast it.
  • Darkness: Forbidden spell that summons an entrance to the depths of darkness. Requires a strong mage to be able to cast it.

  • This is a sandbox RP, however, storyline events will happen and there is a storyline. The frequenty of changing to new days will be discussed with the group. This is a chill/relaxing RP though.
  • No godmodding or bunnying
  • Boss fights will happen in Dungeons&Dragons style. You will throw with a D20 during the fight. GM will be the boss monster. If the GM discovers this method is not working, we will switch to the old method.
  • Communication will mostly happen in the discord
  • There's currently no character limit, however, if there are too many interested RPers the GM may decide to close this RP for new characters.
  • New characters will automatically become outsiders, meaning that they still have to arrive in the village.
  • This RP is rated M for Mature, however, do not abuse it. Discuss things with the GM if you're not sure what is and what isn't allowed.

(Woo, base SU is up!)

Name: Dirk Kellen

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Occupation: Blacksmith

Race: Human

Family: Garrow Kellen - Father

Appearance:
f7L3pOX

Dirk cuts a powerful figure with his strong musculature cultivated from spending so much time at the forge and exercising to even out so he didn't get the muclehunch so common among smiths. His face is fairly plain aside from his strong jaw and stern-but-kind blue eyes, though his beard does frame his face nicely.

Dirk rarely puts much effort into how he dresses, often just wearing his work pants and a tank top, maybe changing into a pair of loose jeans and short-sleeved button-down if some consideration is called for.

Personality: Diligent devotion to his craft and a frequent inability to say no or resist the flow of groups have led to Dirk being relied upon a lot around town. He gets dragged around by other people a lot in his free time, usually grumbling about it despite still going along. Relentless when there's work to be done and easygoing to the extreme when there isn't, Dirk isn't one to question his circumstances, doubt himself or wrinkle his brow unless he's leaning a little too close to his forge… except when it comes to one particular topic…

Nothing for it but to be blunt. Dirk is head over heels for Alannah, the Innkeeper's daughter. Feelings born from nothing in particular have only grown stronger over the years and now he's totally hopeless. He hasn't once been able to make a real push towards telling her how he feels or learning how she might feel. Everyone in Ariadna with any awareness at all has noticed his doting by now, the way he hangs on her every word, his awkward denials of any passes women have made at him. His crush is the most open 'secret' in town.

A strong sense of loyalty, community and family leave Dirk very invested in Ariadna's prosperity. This concern for his hometown contrasts with a growing sense of adventure he may have inherited from the mother he never got to know, leaving him restless in recent months.

History: 26 years ago a woman who claimed to be a great adventurer blew into town like a refreshing breeze and began regaling anybody who'd listen with tales of her journeys, quickly making a few admirers out of her audience, especially the town's sole blacksmith. The woman wasn't in town long before she left but she was back five months later…weighed down by a memento of her first visit. Just a few more months and Dirk was born to a pair of parents who had no business being so lovey dovey after such a short time.

Unfortunately an adventurer's curiosity and wanderlust were not to be tamed. Dirk's mother stayed in Ariadna only three years before she left and she hasn't been seen in the little town since. Otherwise, Dirk's life has been uneventful up until last month when he suddenly started taking on more and more of his father's work, to the point where he's unofficially considered the town's blacksmith by most now, no longer an apprentice.

Other: Although he's never had any trouble dealing with monsters between being well-equipped or his own prodigious strength, Dirk has recently shown a keen interest in improving his combat skills, going out to fight monsters some evenings just for practice. Dirk is at least moderately skilled in each type of weapon, enough so to test the quality of his own creations and insure they're successful. His real weapons, however, are hammers and his own two hands. Dirk's been seen to punch charging buffamoos into submission and literally send monsters twice his size back to the forest of beginnings with wrestling moves.

AymwHGe.png
Name: Alannah Solano
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Occupation: Inn "poster girl"
Race: Human
Family: Damien (Father), Jiao Mei (Mother † )

Appearance:
A young Eastern beauty. Those are the words that are usually used by customers to describe the young woman working at her family's inn. Alannah's long black hair and fair pale skin are her trademarks since childhood showing her eastern descent quite well. Her eyes are light blue colored and she usually is found wearing hear accessories that go along with them. Another part of her appearance she takes care of for her own enjoyment is her garments, which she makes herself in her own room. Her body is slim and although she still looks young, she's a woman through and through on uhh... other places. The first thing people tend to notice about her other than her eyes are her hands that tend to be covered in bruises, burn marks and bandages. How she receives those...? That's a story for another time.

Alannah's favorite dress is purple colored with a white under dress with white poofy sleeves attached. She made a bronze belt with a bag to wear around her waist with a different tone of purple cape that she wears against the cold. She keeps her shoes rather simple but they're usually kitten heels in different kinds of colors to match her attire.

Alannah made an adventurer outfit she never got to wear, due to her very frail body, which contain of the same purple cape and bronze belt that she usually wears but with a white blouse and a blue waist skirt for easier traveling. Her blue waist skirt is rather short but since Alannah never did some real fighting, she hasn't really thought about how inconvenient that can be.

Personality:
It's said that Alannah received character traits from both her parents as she's kind and delicate like her mother but headstrong and stubborn like her father. She's hardworking and tries her very best at everything she does even when it sometimes brings her already frail body in danger of getting hurt or bruised, making her a quite reckless woman and often causes her to get scolded for those reasons.
9SWw7EK.png

She loves tailory more than anything else and dreams of owning her own tailor show someday, though she wishes that she wouldn't mess up her hands as much as she did in the process of making new garments. She has a habit of stabbing herself with needles or burning her hands when trying to close the fibers of her fabric. For now she takes commissions from villagers to earn a penny, only to spend that on new materials that she requests on the bulletin board in town as her body won't allow her to travel too far. Alannah has never learned how to fight. She was sickly since she was young and learning her how to use a sword would cause too much strain on her tiny body. Her health has improved a lot since the clinic in town opened.

Despite being kind, delicate, headstrong and incredibly stubborn, the raven haired girl also appears to be very dense as she has missed the many hints dropped at her that a certain young man may be fancying her.

History
The story starts with a woman from the Republic of Eucraft and a merchant who just so happened to be in the area. The woman was an exceptional eastern beauty. Her skin fresh and and her every step springily like a newborn deer. Falling deeply in love, the merchant asked the woman's father for her hand in marriage. The family head of a long line of extraordinary good samurai wasn't about to let his daughter go marry a commoner with no heirloom to inherit or royal blood, especially since his daughter was already promised to the emperor as his concubine. The merchant was shunned away, of course, because how dare he even look at a woman that was promised to the emperor?!

That merchant was Alannah's father, Damien. What happened to the woman you might ask? That's Alannah's mother. How did Alannah come into this world if Alannah's parents weren't allowed to be together? Well, that's simple, ain't it? Damien sneaked into the mansion of the woman named Jiao Mei and stole her in the middle of the night of a full moon. They knew Jiao Mei's father wouldn't let this humiliation slide, so they ran. They ran, left the Republic of Eucraft and came to the Kingdom of Norad to start their new life. This happened about 24 years ago, Ariadna only had a few citizens back then but it was perfect for this young runaway couple that were searching for a safe haven. They started a bathhouse inn called the "The Moon Inn" and while Damien's cooking quickly got famous, they married. Jiao Mei was never found by her father again, which is kind of hard anyway since she passed away but only a little moment before we get to that.

Alannah was born about 2 years later from the two lovebirds. The heir of The Moon Inn and the missing piece of the family life both Damien and Jiao Mei were desperate to start. Unfortunately... Jiao Mei only got to experience that dream for another 5 years until death stood at her door. While Jiao Mei was gathering fire wood in the forest, a huge tree crushed her as it fell down. Damien was devastated when he found her, and so was the tiny Alannah when she realised her dear mother was never coming home again. It was at that moment that Alannah started to become very frail, or maybe she always was and the increased weight she had to bear of no longer having a mother had gotten too much for the small girl. Alannah spend her days bedridden more often than not. Thankfully she had a good friend that helped her father with some chores in the Inn and Bathhouse now and then. This friend was Dirk, the town's blacksmith's son. Alannah was thankful to him and up to this day she still sometimes visits Dirk and his father to help them in the Blacksmith shop, completely unaware of Dirk's feelings for her and sharing a friendship with the apprentice Soria.

As Alannah got older, her health started increasing again. The determined teenager learned that she really likes to make clothing. Watching the fancy clothes going around on the markets being sold by the merchants inspired her to someday open a Tailor shop in town. Although she never told her father about her much anticipated dream even now that she's an adult...

Vx0qfIz.png
Name: Damien Solano
Age: 44
Gender: Male
Occupation: Owner of the towns Inn and Bathhouse "The Moon Inn."
Race: Human
Family: Alannah (Daughter), Jiao Mei (Wife † )

Appearance:
Damien is as rough as they come. A single dad in his fourties with only a little bit of facial hair and his hair brushed backwards where it's long at the top and shorter at the bottom. He has a zigzag design in his hair made with a knife and a feather attached to a hair tie on the back of his head. He's usually found wearing a white blouse and black sleeveless leather jacket matching his black leather trousers. He wears a bracelet around his biceps and more colorfull bracelets around his wrists with black leather, fingerless gloves to finish his outfit. Although Damien is not originally from the Republic of Eucraft, his ancestors were. Because of that he has a few traits that would indicate that he has some eastern blood running in his veins, although not thick.

Damien is still muscular from his Merchant days and kept this up by doing the chores requiring man power around the Inn and bathhouse, leaving his daughter to do the smaller chores and cleaning.

Personality:
Damien is a doting father and a terrific Inn owner. He learned a lot from his merchant days and because of that knows exactly at what price he can get his supplies and what he needs to do to keep his customers happy and satisfied. His cooking is simply amazing but he wouldn't dare trying to steal the customers of the tavern owner in town, so his cooking is only for the customers staying the night and Alannah. He isn't very strict but prefers his daughter to not go outside of town alone, this due to his wife that he lost when a falling tree crushed her in the woods during a storm. He's very protective and careful for his daughter and regular customers of the Inn know better than to flirt with his daughter in his presence or even talk about marriage. He doesn't mind them complimenting her though so most of the regulars have resorted to that to keep their tiny men hearts satisfied. There is only one man that Damien would MAYBE accept as Alannah's husband but seeing as his precious daughter is unaware herself, he feels like he doesn't need to worry about that yet.

Damien is headstrong and stubborn, qualities that he unfortunately relayed to his daughter as he sometimes clashes with her about certain tasks that they both want done differently. Besides their small arguments, they're a happy little family.

Name: Lazaro Ilighiari

Gender: ♂

Age: 42

Occupation: Scientist/Researcher of Magic

Race: Univir

Family: None.

Appearance: Lazaro stands at a height of 6'2", with a slightly slender build. His skin is pale, and his facial features clearly display signs of insomnia. His eyes are always baggy, but they are soft, and gentle. His pupils are light blue, but are always hidden behind a pair of glasses with darkened lenses. His hair is a dark purple, long but with refined style.

His outfit consists of a white labcoat, with silver buttons and black trim. The collar is frayed out, looking like his coat was almost torn apart. He wears a long, black cape behind his lab coat with a dark purple trim, the cape lower half in tatters. His slacks are purplish black, and his shoes are purely black, but always seem to be in perfect condition. He also wears a silver pocket watch he keeps in the breast pocket of his lab coat. And lastly, Lazaro is always seen with a staff. Currently, his staff is a gnarled, darkened branch fashioned into a magic weapon.

Personality: Lazaro is a quiet man, mostly spending time in his laboratory(?), in which he also calls home. In Ariadna, he had a laboratory built just along the outskirts, to be alone with his research and his studies. He is calm, collected and wise. However, he spends most of his time at the library if he decides to leave his lab.

History: This section left blank.

Writer's Note: Not my best writing, but I decided to give this a shot.

Jessica McAbee V 20 y/o Dwarf ♂

Occupation: Owner of The Wildlands (Monster Ranch/Farm)

Family:
  • Father - Jessica McAbee IV (Deceased)
  • Mother - Melody the Wooly Witch
  • Stepfather - Orion Yves
  • Half Sister - Peanut
  • Half Sister - Pina
  • Half Sister - Penelope
  • Half Sister - Papaya
  • Half Sister - Poppy
  • Half Sister - Jessi (JJ)

His name might seem rather odd for a guy, but the name "Jessica McAbee" is one that's held with pride...at least among his late father and forebears. It wasn't something he was ashamed of either. Jessica grew up in the home of a very proud father, one that was proud to the point of ignorance and density. Being from a long line of monster ranchers and the current proprietor of The Wildlands, a sizeable ranch in Ariadna, he's been around monsters for literally all his life, due in part to the fact that his mother was Half-Wooly. In fact, most of the reason Jess hadn't been vindictive of his father is because his mother was very keen on making sure that he had some sort of life outside of the ranch. This would lead to fights between his mother and father at times and at times it seemed as if they would split, but it was never in the cards. While Jess's father might've seemed like the type of man to be too proud to admit he was wrong (and he was), there wasn't a day that went by where he wouldn't make a joke about his wife being one hell of a catch.

Because he caught her.

No one ever laughed.

But it was clear enough that the way he felt about his family did outweigh how he felt about his profession. Despite owning a wyvern, several buffamoo, and other dangerous creatures, there wasn't a single day where Melody feared for the safety of herself, her husband, or their young son who worked alongside him. He was a very conscientious worker for the sole purpose of protecting his family, and that wasn't a personality trait, that was just the McAbee way. Monsters were kept happy to prevent them from acting up and he was particularly strict about teaching his son how to handle each and every particular beast so that he wouldn't mishandle them or, as a result, get mishandled. In fact, the only danger that anyone on the ranch ever really faced only ever involved venturing out into the wilderness, something that Jessica's father let his son do only once. Nothing eventful happened that day and Jess never knew why his father took him out there.

That was, at least, until one day when the town suddenly went into an uproar after some adventurers had dragged in a man who had been bloodied and seemingly impaled at his neck, gasping hard as he could to breathe. Out of concern, Jessica and his mother rushed over and their worst fears were realized, and as he sauntered closer and closer to the his predecessor his mind twisted and contorted. It didn't make any sense, all his father'd gone to do was scout out Privera Forest. He'd been there so many times and the one time he took Jessica there it was almost no different than a walk in the park. It couldn't have been an accident, it had to be murder. Murder with a...buffamoo horn? His droning increased to a sprint and he dropped to his knees when he reached his father's side, he quickly realized that he couldn't speak even if he wanted to. He didn't try to, either. He simply pulled Jessica and Melody close, embraced them with all the strength he could muster, and that was that.

It wasn't long before Jessica would find the will that his father left for him and his mother, something that, at least to Melody, wasn't particularly surprising. For Jessica, though, it immediately washed over him a wave of relief and regret. In his will is a letter to the new head of the family, Jessica McAbee V. "Out there the buffamoo's horns aren't sanded, the wolves' fangs aren't clipped, and the dragons are no one's friends. Knowing what we do for a living, I imagine that's why you're reading this. Had to happen sooner or later, though personally for y'all's sake I hope to god it's the latter."

"You're the man of the ranch, now. Take care of your mother for me. And Jojo, Carly, Bessa, Jim, Thatch, Tony, shit are any of them even still alive? With what I taught you, damn right they are. I love ya, kid. Always have."

---

Years later, the young Jessica had become a slightly less young Jessica (now fifteen years of age) and was fitting into his role quite nicely. It made sense, he'd been ranching all his life, and he'd grown into quite the responsible young man, even if he was a bit reserved. Too reserved, even. He was rarely seen outside of the ranch other than to go monster hunting, something that earned him the skills of a fighter (his father'd taught him self-defense techniques so he wasn't too shabby where finesse was concerned). On his way to adulthood Jessica spent a lot of time taking care of his mother along with the ranch, which was clearly exhausting and she recognized this. At first she tried to assist him on the farm, changing out the feed, grooming the monsters, watering the crops- all in secret, mind. While he didn't have the pride that his father had, he felt responsible for her safety and comfort, so to see her doing fieldwork of all things and putting herself in danger as well, he'd never let her hear the end of it.

As a result, it didn't feel particularly right to step in when someone else had started talking to his mother. A man named Orion (Ori, for short. He insists on it. Call him Ori. Please. Sometimes you don't choose your name, sometimes it's hard to get your name changed it's but it's okay because everyone calls him Ori anyway so he's basically Ori now which still sounds weird but that's the thing about compromises). It took some time for her to warm up to him and, honestly she wouldn't have at all if it wasn't for Jessica telling her that she should go for it. The two were equally broken up about their father and husband's passing, but the way he saw it, it kept her out of trouble and made her happy. "Dad won't just stop existing," he told her, even if it was something it felt more and more like he was telling himself, and he went on to find excuses for the two to hang out and let her know that she wasn't hurting him by doing this. And so it was that months had passed and Jessica found himself a new father-in-law.

And sextuplets. 5 of them Woolies. One of them, JJ, probably a normal human kid.

Probably.

---

Today, Jessica still manages the farm, only this time he tends to have a bunch of extra fluff balls rolling around and a flesh weight hanging onto his brown hakama. His strong facial features contrast heavily with both his long red ponytail (reminiscent of his father's), and his name, which he is constantly met with jokes and unironic questions about from his many new family members. He wears a short sleeved brown cloth shirt with a deep V running down the neckline, held together with some loose string, attire that makes farming and challenging the hot midday heat something of a breeze. His eyes are also dyed a scarlet red and are sometimes batted by the tuft of hair that casts over his face from the center of his forehead.

Dai Einion || Dwarf Carpenter || 28 || ♂️

Family: Distant. His family is very large, with a multitude of uncles, aunts, and cousins back home. He doesn't speak about family much.

Appearance: Dai is a solid dwarf the size of an average man, he spends a lot of time chopping trees after all. His skin is a medium olive tone with a broad and flat nose, rather squat, slightly pointed ears, and stone-gray eyes. His hair is a dark brown, nearly black, and is typically cropped short. He has a medium-length beard that's normally neatly combed, but tends to become frazzled by the end of the day. During events or out on trips he will braid his beard for respectability. His hands are rough, like any other craftsman, and his body has quite a few scars, mostly from accidents in the shop.

He usually wears his stained workshop apron (outside of house building), and simple earth toned pants and button down shirts. He wears a silver ring on his right hand.

Personality: Dai is a quiet man. It's not that he dislikes people, he just has nothing to say and prefers to listen. He's more than happy to speak about what interests him, however, often at length enough that he gets embarrassed for speaking so long without waiting for a response. Just don't ask too many questions about himself. He's a private person whom doesn't like to speak of his life before the village much.

Like many other dwarves, Dai has a keen eye for details and a perfectionist attitude towards his work. He will easily spend a full day in his workshop before staggering half-starved to the tavern after remembering he needs to eat. Unlike many other dwarves, Dai's passion lies in woodwork and carpentry rather than metalworking. He takes his work seriously, making frequent trips to the forest to scout good trees for lumber and raising his own small nursery to make sure the forest never runs out of trees. Questions on the sourcing of wood for specific piece of furniture is liable to send him into a long speech about the history of that specific tree.

He values patience and self-reliance. He doesn't wish to be a burden on anyone, and finds it difficult to ask for help. His penchant for quietness and privacy sometimes makes him a hard person to track down, especially when he makes an impromptu trip into the woods or dungeon.

History: Dai wandered into the village about a decade ago and set up shop there, apparently pleased with the quality of the local forest. He lives near the edge of town (for access to the forest, he says). He says he previously lived with his family among other dwarves before differences lead to him leaving. He has said he has wandered around various villages in Norad, but none of them fit him.

Name: Felix Reinmann
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Occupation: Farmer/Hunter
Race: Human

Appearance: Felix is approximately 5'10" in height. His years of doing consistent manual labour on his farm has resulted in him becoming quite muscular and strong. Furthermore, hunting wild animals has made him incredibly agile and stealthy as well. His skin is the colour of sand although his complexion tends to darken considerably in the warmer seasons. One of Felix's most prominent features is his eyes, which are an alluring shade of emerald. Felix has a jawline sharp as a blade which is dotted with scruff, fairly broad shoulders, and a button nose. In the summer the bridge of his nose becomes speckled with faint auburn freckles that match his messy auburn hair. Felix is handsome and overall has a rather rugged appearance, as his hair often grows long and shaggy and his body is riddled with cuts, scrapes, and bruises from working in the fields day in and day out. His hands are heavily calloused and he has a gargantuan scar on his chest from an injury he received as a child. Felix also has an armband tattoo on his upper bicep.

In terms of clothing, Felix isn't picky. He alternates through a variety of loose cotton shirts and wears lightweight pants that aren't overly restraining. On the hottest of days Felix will remove his shirt when doing farm work. When hunting he opts for clothing that blends into the surrounding forests, and therefore decorates himself with earth tones, everything from warm terracottas to lush shades of verdant. On his trips to town, he often wears a fur-lined tan cloak with a hood over his usual attire. For footwear, he wears fur-lined leather boots equipped for hiking, and when doing farmwork he opts for more breathable sandals, which are noticeably worn. He does clean up quite nicely when necessary.

Personality: Felix is driven and is very hard-working. He is one to work continuously until he is on the brink of collapse before resting, he loves both hunting and farming and prioritizes them above all else. His hardiness and work-ethic is admirable. Conversely, Felix is a very sociable individual. He loves making trips to town and catching up with friends and other townsfolk that he comes across. He's one to initiate a conversation on the spot and certainly isn't a shy one. He especially loves to venture to the local pub for a couple glasses of beer and good conversation. Felix is naturally somewhat of a flirt and has had romantic relations with plenty of women in the nearby towns, all of which have ended as a result of his fixation on farmwork, or due to miscommunication. Although, since meeting his wife, he makes it known of his relationship status and has no interest in other women

Felix is also very headstrong and isn't easily persuaded. He is normally careful and calculated, especially when hunting, although at times he is reckless and thus can injure himself. Regardless, he is known for his sheer willpower and his unrelenting spirit. Felix is normally a very easy going individual, although when he is vexed he can be quite aggressive and becomes a loose cannon, a weapon of destruction. Especially when he was younger he would get into scraps fairly often, although most of which were good-natured. Since then, Felix has found ways to cope with his anger and has become quite patient, although he still has his moments. Felix will always defend his friends and is protective over those that he loves. Moreover, he is big on integrity and never aims to disappoint another individual. He will do whatever necessary to right any wrongs he's made and has a firm moral compass. Becoming both a father and a husband has matured him significantly and he makes sure to spend time with both his wife, Elisia and his son, Levi.

History: Felix was born in the northernwestern region of Norad, in a small village situated along the border of Roland. His father was a hunter who taught Felix all that he knows about ensnaring, trapping, and killing animals with brute force and taught him survival skills as well. Felix grew up reasonably poor and had 3 sisters and 5 brothers, with Felix being the second-youngest. When he was around the age of ten, his father was killed in a hunting accident. Two years later, his mother unexpectedly died of natural causes and Felix was left with the company of his younger brother, Bruno, as his elder siblings had since departed from their de-populated village in search of better opportunities. Felix, grieving the loss of both parents in such a short time span, took his younger sibling and the two of them left their hometown, knowing that they couldn't stay there any longer. The village was on the verge of economic collapse and Felix had no interest in remaining in such a place where he would be continually reminded of the deaths of his parents. The two of them traveled across Norad, squatting in various towns along the way. If they thought they'd find a permanent place to live, Felix would get caught stealing or would start a brawl and the two of them would get chased away.

One fateful night, Felix and Bruno reached the outskirts of Ariadna. Fatigued, they stumbled upon a lowly barn, broke in and slept in hay. When they awoke, a burly older man stood over them. A farmer, no doubt. Felix and Bruno were alarmed, but the man offered them to come inside and gave them a meal. The man's name was Nicholas Bachmeier and he took Felix and Bruno in as sons. When not in school, the boys would spend their days in the field and at night, Nicholas's wife, Dorothea, would make them supper. Dorothea died a few years after their arrival, when Felix was sixteen and Bruno was thirteen. This took a toll on Nicholas and slowed him down considerably with his farm work. As a result of this, Felix especially began to take on more work to lighten the load on Nicholas as the man was not only deteriorating emotionally, but physically as well as he was pushing seventy.

Four years ago, Nicholas passed away at the age of seventy-two. He left the farm and his inheritance to Felix and Bruno, as he had no biological children of his own. Felix mans the farm and Bruno works as his farm-hand, and takes over for Felix when he hunts. Bruno tends to slack off at times, though he's usually hard working. Nicholas is the reason why Felix is so dedicated to his farm-work, as he feels it's his way of repaying Nicholas for essentially saving his life. Moreover, Felix wants to honour Nicholas's legacy.

Felix met his wife Elisia shortly after the death of Nicholas. Elisia was a newcomer to Ariadna and the two bumped into each other in the town square and hit it off instantly. They married a not long after and Elisia gave birth to their first son, Levi Nicholas Reinmann, 11 months ago.

Family:
Jack Reinmann (Father) - Deceased
Lorelei Reinmann (Mother) - Deceased
Unnamed elder brothers and sisters - All alive
Bruno Reinmann (Younger brother, 21 years-old) - Alive
Elisia Reinmann (Wife, 22 years-old) - Alive
Levi Nicholas Reinmann (Son, aged 11 months) - Alive

Other: Felix always carries several weapons with him, usually just a few daggers but he obtained a long sword as well a few years back that he sometimes brings when hunting. His primary weapon that he utilizes when hunting is a bow and he is known for being an immaculate archer. Felix is a regular attendee at the Judeo-Christian church.

"I swear upon my blade, I will not falter on this mission."

Vera Maxwell / Female / 24 Years Old

LuyuYlQ.png

Appearance

Vera stands at a height of 5'4" with a toned, lean body build. She as long, flowing black hair that she keeps pulled into a tightly woven braid. All the while, Vera's bangs frame the sides of her face. Vera's eyes are probably her most standout feature, with one of them being a violet-blue in hue while the other eye is a jarring, bright pink. Vera's sports a very light skin complexion.

In terms of clothing, Vera dresses in form-fitting clothing so as not to hinder her movement. She usually wears short dresses, often with a pair of shorts underneath the skirt. A pair of gray tights are worn over her legs, reaching up to her thighs. A pair of comfortable, yet durable black boots often adorn her feet, with a matching jacket and gloves on her hands at almost all times. Vera often carries her long sword in a sheath by her side, choosing to discard the sheath should be forced into combat as opposed to wearing it on her person. The braid of her hair is tied off by a decorative, blue, silk ribbon.

Personality

Vera is a woman of strong will and sharp tongue. She prefers to keep to herself for the most part, rarely engaging in activites such as gossiping with the other townsfolk and never speaking of herself. She is easily viewed as somewhat of a lone wolf, often only being spotted at the local tavern during most of her time in the city, with many who visit the town thinking she is a cold and somewhat heartless woman. Vera very rarely goes out her way to correct this line of thought either. When speaking, Vera is very blunt. She tends to not mince words, never afraid to outright state what's on her mind even should that upset or offend someone close by.

Vera carries with her a sense of duty and purpose. She enjoys physical activity, often spending her time when not on a job or waiting to receive one at the local tavern by training in the outskirts of the city. The swordswoman can be viewed as a bit hardheaded, often refusing to surrender or give in until her body can no longer manage to keep itself up on her two feet. Vera puts strength and pride above all else. She is always aiming to reach new heights in her skills with a sword and her own strength, which leads to her being resentful or even downright angry towards herself should she find herself in a situation where she requires assistance and points where she literally pushes her body to the point of exhaustion. Because of this line of thought, as well as a bit from her line of work, Vera is known to be a local frequent at the town clinic as well.

Of course, Vera has a personal side that she attempts to keep hidden from all those around her. She is an avid lover of poetry and has a fondness of cute things... in particular, the fluffy and white Wooly.

History

Vera has lived in the town of Ariadna for only about six years of her life. The woman is rather silent and dismissive about where she came from or lived before that point, often only stating that she came from a few towns over. When asked about her family life, Vera only mention that she was orphaned at a young age before dismissing the rest of the conversation entirely. An odd contrast to what one might expect from the tale of an orphan, Vera is skilled with a sword to the degree that it's clear that she has had some form of training at some point during her life. As a result (and as a way to make some money for herself to live on), Vera serves Ariadna as a sword for hire, often completing tasks or assisting with hunts for those who are unable or not willing to venture out into the wilds on their own.
