Can someone explain to me how to successfully implement a life orb held item based on this post here?

I am particularly confused by this line in the second YYYYYYYYY code: "/*YY+1 YY YY 08 must replaces the "end" command pointer */"
I just have absolutely no idea what this means. I have a basic idea of how to compile and insert thumb scripts as I have inserted custom abilities but I cannot seem to get the Life Orb held item working at all. Has anyone been able to figure this out?
