[Gen 4] Platinuzlocke Sinnoh Stories

Welcome to a daily journal entry of Yollaxi's trek across Sinnoh. Standard nuzlocke rules but no healing items during battle and Set style. I'm expecting a lot of deaths and a lot of sacrifices.

The Red Gyarados has just appeared in Johto and I am about to leave home.

Sinnoh Story Day 1: Twinleaf to Roark

Heading out of Town I got my first Pokemon. Chimchar named Survivor in hope for the future. Defeated Barry and picked up my pokedex. Caught "Airated" the Starly and "X-Ray" Shinx early. Bit of grinding, Starly Lv6 and a Lv4 Bidoof crits.... We've already lost 1.... Into Jubilife with Survivor and X-Ray and went and picked up the Old Rod and a Magikarp named Trout West of Jubilife. His life was short lived. Battling with Barry took down X-Ray and Trout. Survivor lived on 2 HP and we move on. A quick detour North to get Terrance the Bidoof and Zizu the Zubat. A random trainer battle and Survivior evolved. Quark the Psyduck joined the team just in time for the Gym. She sweeped. Gym 1 done. Bruce the Machop, Rolley the Geodude joined us in the celebrations.

We ended our first chapter in good spirits.

Sinnoh Story Day 2: Oreburgh to Gardenia

In high spirits the team heads back to Jubilife. Quark was waddling her way up to the team Galactic grunts. They clearly didn't like her jovial nature. Double teamed it and Quark, the hero of Gym one was gone. Zizu finished the battle but with heavy hearts we moved on. Now with massive hatred of Team Galactic. A honey tree north of Floraroma brought Honeysucker the Burmy into the mix. Dreaming of revenge, we headed into Valley Windworks. Crit a Buizel outside so our first failed catch. But, we moved on, rage burning and Purugly will get destroyed. No. It wasn't. Bruce got a hit in but fell, Rolley was the next to fall. Survivor again tidied up the Mach Punch. The team was decimated. On we went up to Eturna forest. Gary the Shellos took place in our diminished team. Honeysucker died in the forest and Chansey killed our potential catch. We left the forest downbeat. Crit on a Meditite meant another failed catch. The 2nd Gym was going to be a challenge. Only 4 team members. I shouldn't have worried. Survivor and Zizu aced it. Wait.... Zizu.... yo've evolved!!

A lot of members joined and departed on this day many to Team Galactic....

Sinnoh Story Day 3: Eturna to Fantina

All started promisingly, Survivor and Zizu cruising to victory over Jupiter and her Skuntank. Down the cycle road we went after getting Cynthia's egg. We narrowly avoided a loss to a Double Teaming Staravia. Gary fell and Terrance's last moment of its journey ended with a Rollout leaving Staravia in the red. Zizu missed everything and had to switch riskily into Survivor. I could never doubt Survivor's endeavour. A wayward Mach Punch hit its mark to save the day, but now down to 3. Heading towards Gible cave and picking up Toothey the Gligar on the way, however no Gible in sight and a mistimed critical hit and Onix fell.... "shake" What?! Yes! Togepi was born. Christened her Scrambled and that was a very apt name. Switch training against a murkrow was a terrible error. Pursuit was the end of Togepi after just 5 levels.... we headed into Mt Coronet with heavy hearts and caught Mirror Mirror the Bronzor, swiftly followed by Sunshine the Budew on Route 208. Grinding with Sunshine helped it to level 27 but alas she won't evolve. The new star in the making was Toothey and his Faint Attack. It ripped through the Hearthome gym, but Mirror Mirror sacrificed itself to protect Toothey from Mismagius' Shadow Ball and so ended his short time with the team. Toothey continued to avenge Mirror Mirror's tragically cut short future. Barry's Staravia almost took out Zizu after he came in to rescue Sunshine.

The team soldiered on despite the constantly falling comrades. The quartet left now with greater resolve and with greater attachments...

Sinnoh Story Day 4: Hearthome to Maylene

After defeating Barry, we made our way to Solaceon Town, obtaining the Good Rod and adding Nemo the Goldeen to the team as well as Lord Lucan the Duskull. Our teamed was glistening with talent so LordLucan took up a spot on the bench. Problems unexpectedly arose with the Ranch Duo of Ponyta and Rapidash. Sunshine somehow escaped with its life before Survivor came to the rescue yet again. However with that close call behind us, Zizu had put in a lot of hardwork to protect Sunshine. He started to glow and we know had Zizu the Crobat. Nemo quickly joined the Evolutionary party, emerging as a Seaking. Redrum the Ponyta and Titch the Marill kept Lord Lucan company in the wings. Parallel the Porygon was picked up once we'd arrived in Veilstone. The gym would be Zizu's first action as a Crobat. He had the upper hand and powered through only to be stopped in its tracks by Lucario. A metal claw meant Zizu clumg on with just 5HP. A risky switch to Sunshine was rewarded with a stun spore. The genius Sunshine allowed a safe switch the Toothey, and he finished the job... just. Defeating Lucario with red health. With the new badge securely in its case, a quick check of the town map shows the road leads south to Pastoria.

The team, no longer survivors, but standing strong, looking invulnerable.

Today there is nothing to mourn. We therefore leave this moment to remember all the past fallen. Rest in Peace.

Sinnoh Story Day 5: Veilstone to Crusher Wake

The team was at its height. Teamed up with Lucas to beat the despicable Galactic grunts, remaining unscathed. Then taking the South trail towards Lake Valor. Hippopotas was killed before capture, Houndour caught but Girafarig also fell to a Toothey Faint Attack. Sunshine still growing but still remaining as a Budew. We passed Lake Valor and continued strong all the way to Pastoria. We were able to catch a Buizel at the second attempt after the resolute failure at the Valley Windworks. His name become TryAgain. Venom the Skorupi joined at the Great Marsh and SeaPanzer the Remoraid in Pastoria City itself. The group was forming into a seemingly invincible team. Barry was a challenge that the team again passed with flying colours.... WAIT! Sunshine? What's happening?... No... YES!! We have a Roselia! Pumped up and confidence sky high with no death's since Hearthome. Sunshine sailed through the gym like a tornado. Then, the leader. Stun Spore Magical leaf combo got passed Gyarados, on to Floatzel..... its over.... ice fang.... sunshine.... you were a Budew that punched well above your weight.... time to say goodbye... NEMO! Avenge her!! Yes. Horn Attack and you can take the crunch. Another horn attack, so close now... crunch.... critical hit... Nemo... no... from the hubristic heights to the deathly lows in no time at all... a glance at the team with a fire-type Survivor, a low levelled Parralel and two weak to Floatzel's ice fang. I turn to Zizu. Wake heals him. Confuse Ray. Hurt Itself. Bite. Flinch. Bite. Hurt itself. Wing Attack. HE'S DONE IT. Quagsire to go. Parralel switch, survives two rock tombs, Switch back to Survivor and a Grass Knot to win it. We have the badge but the team is in tatters. The two highest levels gave their lives.

A period of mourning for the tragic life of Sunshine the Roselia and the seemingly unstoppable Nemo the Seaking.... A new two selected from the the box... They'll have huge boots to fill to beat Byron.

Sinnoh Story Day 6: Pastoria to Byron

The team was still in mourning. The loss of the two highest levelled friends had hit us hard. Changes and TryAgain held the baton now. Heading west back to Hearthome, TryAgain swiftly evolved into Floatzel and Survivor became an Infernape. However there was a false dawn. TryAgain was taken down by an ironic Roselia. Bandie the Houndour took his place and just as quickly evolved into a Houndoom. A quick detour to Eturna forest to evolve changes into Leafeon. A new grass-type to fill the whole in the team and their hearts that Sunshine had left. With the Psyducks headache's gone, we headed onwards with Celestic Town beyond the fog. A double battle with a Raichu and Gyarados saw the end of Toothey. He'd come so far but an Aqua Tail through the mist meant he joined the growing list of fallen comrades. As we retreated back towards Solaceon Town's pokemon centre, a Scyther appeared. It was destiny. Sectivore replaced Toothey instantly. We arrived in Celestic Town with no further losses, but once we'd defeated the Galactic grunt it was Parallel's turn to fall. This time it was Cyrus's Golbat. Titch the Marill the Azumarill came to the forth now. Travelling around western sinnoh, a Meditite, Sudowoodo, Quagsire and Magmar, named Curls, Pine, Featureless and Overcooked, were sent to the box. Finally arriving in Canalave City, the fight with Barry proved to be Titch's end. A galant sacrifice for Survivor after its failure to beat Staraptor. Zizu and Changes took Barry down with only the gym standing in the way. A brief stop for fishing added Thon the Finneon to the team to replace Titch. Survivor then single-handedly swept the gym. Even Byron couldn't stop the constant flamethrowing. Proving to hot enough to melt every steel-type put in his way. Badge number 6, complete.

There were only 2 survivors from the team that beat Wake, but we were still full of hope. TO SNOWPOINT!

Sinnoh Story Day 7: Canalave to Candice

A trip to Lake Valor and then Verity were unwelcome distractions for a team on a roll. Galactic were dealt with at the lakes and then on Iron Island, where Earthadder the Onix joined us. Unfortunatly a Self-Destructing Graveler saw the end of Thon during its training. After that, we flew back to Celestic Town on Zizu's back, so we could go check on Barry up in Snowpoint. Featureless the Quagsire was a sacrifice en route without even gaining a level, taken out by a Woodhammer Sudowoodo. He was replaced by our own Sudowoodo, Pine. He took his place with the advantage over the upcoming ice types. Unfortunately Golduck's aren't ice type so he fell to the same fate as Featureless. Pan the Snover and Martha the Swinub joined the gang as we made it to Snowpoint City. A brief detour to Pastoria with my heart scales to get Martha Ancientpower. She evolved rapidly to Piloswine then Mamoswine. The burning streak Survivor was on couldn't be stopped, defeating Candice and her gym as easily as Byron had fallen. Ice was as easy as Steel to melt in Survivor's eyes. The only slight worry of a Froslass Psychic after Survivor was out-sped, but it was no problem and Candice's 4 pokemon were down in 4 hits. Survivor was now toying with the gym leaders.

We head west to save Barry, very aware the last time we were feeling this high, we were crushed by Wake and a huge team turnover. We'll tread a cautious path onto Mt Coronet...

Sinnoh Stories Day 8: Snowpoint to Volkner

The penultimate day of our journey. With team Galactic kicking around, it was a dangerous path ahead. Freed the Lake trio without hassle from Veilstone, it was Mt Coronet that proved a different story... rock climbing around the outskirts pitted the new Martha against a hiker's graveler. Little did I know a critical hit explosion was on the cards. A huge spanner thrown in the works, but a quick strategy change meant that Earthadder the Onix stepped up. Training at lv42 and fell to an unexpected Giga Draining Galactic Golbat... with Cyrus and Giratina waiting in the distortion world, a new plan was formulated. The second time on the mountain. The future of Sinnoh was put on hold. An idea... in the back annuals of our travels so far, I remembered that the old chateau had not been explored properly. Eterna forest held a secret weapon, needing training but would be ready for action. After remaining unscathed on the rest of Mt Coronet we jumped headfirst into the Distorted unknown, hand in hand with Cynthia. Cyrus was waiting. Survivor took down the Houndoom, but out came Gyarados. Panzer the Remoraid took the sacrificial role so that our secret weapon could be unleashed. Sony the Rotom. Thunderbolt! One hit. That wasn't the end though. Last out was Honchkrow. Bandie had been an under appreciated member of the team since a Houndour. I had to make a very tough decision. Switch out and something else dies or try for a sludge bomb poison. With a heavy heart the second plan succeeded but at a cost of Bandies life. Zizu finished things off. Cyrus was down and Giratina left to its own devices. We left the distortion world and headed to Sunnyshore. A detour to Lake Valor allowed Pixie the Azelf to replace our fallen Bandie. Once at the 8th Gym Volkner was a breeze. Changes survived and Sony did the rest.

Victory Road beckoned. Cynthia better watch out. Our team is ready.

Sinnoh Stories Day 9: Sunnyshore to the League

This is it. We have every badge. Survivor is looking great and the team is almost ready. Heading north towards the dreary cave and defeating all swimmers on the way. Bringing a Tentacruel named Stinger in for our troubles. Big trouble lay ahead.... first battle of Victory Road. A Gengar, no problem for a Zen Headbutting Zizu... or so we thought... the darkness of the cave caused a miss. Then a critical hit Shadow Ball and the longest serving member of the team outside of Survivor lay motionless in front of us... trained from Level 6... all the times she got us through with her speed... now a new Pokemon was needed to step up and fill the void. Stinger was called in. He failed. He had to sacrifice himself for Survivor against a Torterra. Earthquake was its demise. The Great Marsh's Venom the Skorupi was next on call. We battled our way throughtherest of Victory Road unscathed and it was time for Venom to grind. Once ready and with a powerful Drapion on side we faced Barry for the last time. Sony took out Staraptor, survivor the Rapidash and Roserade, Sectivore defeated the Snorlax alongside Heracross before Changes won us the battle by taking out Empoleon. Straightforward win in the end. We entered the League in Good spirits.

Sinnoh Stories Day 10: Aaron

Survivor lead against a Bug Type trainer seemed a good match. Yanmega felled in a single shot. His ace Drapion was next. This was the first tricky decision. Survivor has Earthquake but so did his Drapion. I predicted and Sectivore wasn't effected. Critical hit and a lucky Toxic Spikes meant I was in. I didn't need to switch. Sectivore swept.

1 down, 3 to go.

MVP - Sectivore. No damage and swept.

Sinnoh Stories Day: 10: Bertha

This is why Changes was so vital for the team. 1 hit destroyed whiscash. A strong Hippowdon Stone Edge made me worry but Changes's PP Maxed Synthesis meant we could stall enough to bring Sectivore in to finish the job. Pixie's Ice Punch took out Gliscor and a well predicted switch into a Fire Punching Golem allowed Survivor to defeat it with a single Grass Knot and it took down Rhyperior one shot too.

2 down.

MVP - Changes. Good switchability and a Synthesis stall on Hippowdon reduced its capabilities.

Sinnoh Stories Day 10: Flint

This is no fake Fire Type Flint from Diamond and Pearl Sinnoh. He was real fire. Survivor led us into battle again. Close Combat took out Houndoom in 1 and out came his Infernape. The battle of the Infernapes didn't last as I predicted its had Earthquake too. Pixie came in and a victory. Flareon followed Inferape's fate but as Pixie wouldn't survive a Rapidash Flare Blitz, Survivor could. Earthquake Critical hit and it fell. Just Magmortar to go. Sony came in to defend from a Thunderbolt. Confure Ray. It hit itself! Discharge. Paralysis. It Can't Move! WE were riding our luck. It didn't survive another Discharge and we remained untouched.

MVP - Survivor. Fire resistance and Earthquake. Flint will have nightmares about how my Infernape was better than his.

Sinnoh Stories Day 10: Lucian

Venom's true meaning on the team came to the fore. He well and truly will earn his place. Mr Mime put up screens but Drapion Crunched through. Gallade came out and a quick swap and into a double resisted Drain Punch on Sectivore. Then another stroke of luck with a missed Stone Edge after Sectivore Brick Broke the Screens. We would take the chance. Aerial Ace was just enough to dig Gallade's grave. Venom then came in to take out the Espeon and Alakazam. Sony took the Bronzong bullet. Taking huge damage down to red health before getting Bronzong out of the way and into another Victory.

MVP - Venom. He is doing his best to replace Zizu. He will go on in Zizu's memory...

Sinnoh Stories Day 10:

Champion Cynthia

We were nervous. We are in touching distance. A full team with only minor damage across the board. Can we do it? Will we be Champions?

Survivor has lived up to its name. Changes filled the void in our hearts left by Sunshine the Roselia. Venom was vital against Lucian. A role Zizu could never have filled. Pixie loving life away from Team Galactic. Sectivore from the fog has been superb. Last but certainly not least, Sony the Rotom who became our secret weapon in the Distortion World. I love them all in their own ways and we are one step away. Venom. You will lead us...

Venom did continue her good form. Badly poisoning Spiritomb twice, either side of a Full Restore. That usage might be vital with Garchomp at the back. Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball not Silver Wind could dent Venom's momentum. Then. Garchomp. Out second. Cynthia obviously feared Venom. A dragon Rush miss and Venom released her secret weapon... Ice Fang. Nooo! It wasn't enough!! Garchomp revenge earthquaked... Venom was its first victim. Pixie was next up. Filled with anger, she survived a Dragon Rush and an Ice Punch scared Cynthia into a switch. That was Pixie's end though.... Lucario resisted the Ice Punch, survived a Psychic and Shadow Ball turned Pixie into a Ghost. Sectivore fared no better. Taken out by a single Stone Edge. We'd lost three members and Cynthia just one. Changes scrapped past Lucario only to instantly fall to Togekiss. Changes had to sacrifice herself for the good of the team. Sony came out to destroy Togekiss and we had reduced the deficit to 4 losses to 3. Milotic was easy meat for Sony too and it was all square. Decpite being on red health at the start of the battle, Sony had taken out two. Milotic stupidly using Aqua ~Ring rather than taking Sony out. Garchomp returned and despite getting a Confuse Ray off, Sony fell. 5:4. Survivor.... you have been with me since the start. WE've loved, laughed and mourned together. The first and now the last. I believe in you. Garchomp Dragon Rush.... MISS! Now Survivor took full advantage. Goodbye Garchomp. Close Combat to end him. Cynthia had 1 left. Roserade. A fitting end to go up against Sunshine's ghost. FLAMETHROWER!!! Roserdae survived...... Shadow Ball...... through the Green Hp..... through the orange...... no. way. Survivor. Living up to his name for the thousandth time. 4HP remained. Sunshine was looking down on us. Burn Roserade up!!! Flamethrower!!!.



I can't believe it. Survivor was out on his feet. We've won. Start to Finish. Survivor has been by my side... Lv58 into the Hall of Fame. I'm no Champion. That title belongs to you Survivor. I bow to you.

We could never have done it without the sacrifices along the way.
