Hello everyone. I'm sure you know me. In case you don't however.....my name is Liam Pomfret, though I'm far better known as Archaic, webmaster of Bulbagarden.com, and a member of the Pok?mon Online Community since 1999. Today, I'm posting to tell you all about just what we at Bulbagarden plan to do with all the surplus system resources on our server, namely, rent it out to cover operating costs, at substantially cheaper prices than you'll find elsewhere.

Bulbagarden Networks aims to provide high quality webhosting, at a fraction of the cost of other providers. Our hosting packages are designed for individuals who would like to have all technical aspects of a server handled professionally, giving you the perfect opportunity to operate a website; without risk, and without the huge outlay of capital. Relax and allow us to attend to the server, while you can focus on your real talent; running your website. All Bulbagarden Networks accounts require no setup fee, and if you pay by the year, you'll get 12 months for the cost of 10. Currently, Bulbagarden Networks offers only custom hosting plans (Both yourname.bulbagarden.com and domain name accounts), allowing you to tailor your hosting to your needs, and maybe save a bit on the hosting while you're at it, however we plan to soon offer "off the shelf" plans also that you can have set up with no fuss. For more information, visit our hosting page at http://www.bulbagarden.com/hosting.php, post in this thread, or contact myself via email or IM's.

Please note, we are looking mainly for larger hostees (As in bandwidth usage) at this point, however, if we have a lot of interest, there are already plans to accommodate you on a different server to the other accounts.

Thank you for your time everyone.

N.B. As you've probably noticed, there's currently a problem with the Bulbagarden.com domain name. You may have also noticed that all the other sites on the server are still running perfectly. Until the issues with the Bulbagarden.com domain name are resolved, you can access the hosting page via the following link. Sorry for it looking like a bit of a mess, but without the domain name, several of our scripts don't point to a readable location.kwesi wuz here..

Romhacking? You'll have to explain that a bit further. We can't host sites with ROMs or links to ROMs, but if you're just talking about a site which has info that's been hacked out of the ROM's, then that's perfectly fine. What're your requirements?

Let me quickly check our own terms of service with the company providing our server. That sounds alright.

*Checks*

Alright, the relevant part of our agreement is as follows

---------------------------------------
Content:
All services provided by BurstNET Technologies, Inc.? may be used for lawful purposes only. Transmission, storage, or presentation of any information, data or material in violation of any United States Federal, State or City law is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material, material we judge to be threatening or obscene, unlicensed software or files, or material protected by trade secret and other statue. The subscriber agrees to indemnify and hold harmless BurstNET Technologies, Inc.? from any claims resulting from the use of the service which damages the subscriber or any other party.

Note: Pornography and sex-related merchandising are prohibited on any BurstNET Technologies, Inc.? server EXCEPT those on the UnRestricted.NET Network This includes sites that may infur sexual content, or links to adult content elsewhere. This is also true for sites that promote any illegal activity or content that may be damaging to BurstNET Technologies, Inc.? servers or any other server on the internet. Links to such materials are also prohibited. Viewing/downloading of such information/data by BurstNET? Internet Access customers is not governed by BurstNET? policy, and is at your own discretion/free-will, and may be governed by your state/federal government.

Examples of non-acceptable content or links

Pirated software
"Illegal MP3's"
Hackers programs or archives
Warez Sites
Child Pornography
BurstNET Technologies, Inc.? will be the sole arbiter as to what constitutes a violation of this provision.
---------------------------------------

Personally, I don't feel that your site violates these restrictions. "Hackers programs or archives" is about the only section I could see it falling under, but I believe that refers to things intended to hack into another's computer, not to modify a ROM. If at some point however our server providers decide it does violate those rules, we'll have to take you down without warning (Though I will make a backup for you beforehand), and you'll recieve a refund. Is that acceptable?

Yup, like I said, those sort of programs should be perfectly fine. What kind of requirements re bandwidth, HDD space, etc, did you have?

Yes, you'll have SQL, and yes, you'll be allowed to have a forum if you want. Invision Power Boards come as standard setups with all domain level accounts with SQL, and they can be easily set up from within your CPanel. You don't have to use the IPB of course if you'd prefer to use some other forum.

Ermm...my progreams are romhacking...and IPS are to patrch roms... i got another host that doesnt accept yet...im nort 100% sure...

I would just like to add that I hear that NOJ doesn't take kindly to this kind of behavior. After all, you must illegally distribute a piece of the game in order to modify it.

Edit: If you read what I said about absolute links, forget it. I just noticed that BMG is in a subdirectory at the IP.

What's his MSN then?

Hmmm.....you make a good point there SA, however I don't personally think there's anything wrong with these so long as it's being done ethically (ie. Already own the game. Done for the purpose of education about the games, translations to allow people to play imports, etc). If NOJ do decide it's a no go area, then we'll cross that bridge when it happens.
