All of them look really adorable, even Yungoos, despite the intimidating teeth. ♥
I've now seen people on Tumblr making Donald Trump jokes out of Yungoos, but you have to admit that teeth aside it's still a typical furry early Normal-type with some quite strong abilities.

I love all 3 of these new mons! I feel like they fit into the region really well, especially the bird. I'm super excited to see how their evolutions turn out because after reading the description of Yungoos, it has a really useful ability!

Yungoos

Normal type with Stakeout/Strong Jaw as abilities.
Has a very interesting description:
"Yungoos is a big eater that is never satisfied. The majority of its long body is given over to its stomach, and its digestion is swift, so it’s always hungry. It has strong fangs, so it can crush and consume the hardest of objects.

Each Yungoos chooses its own particular route for searching out prey. It stalks along this route searching for food until it’s exhausted, at which point it drops and sleeps wherever it may be. It’s thought that these Pokémon decide their routes based on safety, so that there’s no risk in falling asleep at any time.

Yungoos is not a Pokémon that is native to the Alola region. It was brought to the region to help deal with the explosive population of a certain other Pokémon, and now Yungoos are commonly seen around the Alola region.

Some Yungoos have an Ability that no other Pokémon discovered has previously had. This Ability is known as Stakeout. With the Stakeout Ability, this Pokémon’s moves can deal twice the normal damage to any Pokémon that switch in or enter the field mid-battle.

Since this Pokémon is so common in the Alola region, it’s easy to catch one. But this Pokémon has a terrible temper when it’s hungry—and it demands a whopping amount of food."

Pikipek:

Normal/Flying type with Keen Eye/Skill Link
"Pikipek can strike 16 times a second with its beak. These strikes are powerful enough to not only drill through hard wood but even shatter stone. The noises made by their blows can signal others. Some of these signals have been identified as warning signals and greetings among allies. Pikipek Trainers have grown to recognize them as well.

These Pokémon drill holes in trees and store food in the holes. They also like small, glittering objects and will tuck them away in their food stores, too. It’s often said, "Something lost, something missed, check inside the Pikipek nest."

Pikipek will attack distant opponents by zipping seeds at them. These shots have enough strength to embed the seeds in tree trunks."

Grubbin

Bug type with Swarm
"Grubbin relies on its sturdy jaw as a weapon in battle and as a tool for burrowing through the earth. Grubbin loves electricity, which is why it can be found near power plants and substations. By wrapping tree branches in the sticky threads that it spews from its mouth, Grubbin can swing around like an actor on suspension wires"

I also noticed that Popplio learns Disarming Voice at level 7 or 8, which imo confirms his secondary type upon evolution to be Fairy.
Just because something gets a move of a different type than its own doesn't mean it will be that different type when it's fully evolved.

Anyway, I like all three of them, and I just may use Yungoos after skipping out on Bunnelby and Patrat in the past, because of its good abilities. I just may be stuck in the early route for quite some time looking for a Skill Link Pikipek with good stats/IVs. And if Pikipek gets Skill Link, they better buff Fury Attack and/or give it Bullet Seed.

Yungoose thus far is my least favorite designed new Pokémon. However, it is quite different from our other Mongoose Pokémon at least.
I'm currently working on some novels. If you're interested you can read them here:

Like the research into the animal inspirations once again, with Yungoos and Pikipek seeming to fit into the endangered animals connection again, with Yungoos apparently being based on a Giant Striped Mongoose (which is one of the few endangered mongoose species) and Pikipek based on the critically endangered Ivory-Billed Woodpecker.

Grubbin seems to be an Oriental Hornet like the article mentions, and while it isn't known much in terms of its numbers in the wild but the fact Grubbin seems has a love for electricity like its real-world counterpart might connect to solar energy and Alola is a region that probably harnesses nature a lot. It could suggest a Bug/Electric evo which would be a nice change of pace for the early Bug-type, and it's a type that only has one family so I wouldn't mind another one.

Anyone got any ideas on why they didn't show the two CoroCoro Pokémon?
Maybe they didn't have time or they are likely being saved for another trailer. Not showing up until later in the game could also be a plausible reason.

Because they are CoroCoro exclusives, and CoroCoro isn't actually out yet?

Actually, we've seen plenty of info released before CoroCoro has come out, that's been the new trend.
That doesn't invalidate my possible hypothesis.

These are kind of disappointing for me. Hopefully they have good evolutions.
Well, it's the early route bird, bug and small mammal which is a tradition. I'm sure we'll get more new Pokemon in future reveals that will be more unique.

but I can't see it staying that way at the very least.
I didn't say it would stay that way. CoroCoro gets the exclusive reveal. Once CoroCoro is released, then the official websites will post information.

This is likely what I see happening, since Wednesday will be the 15th and CoroCoro tends to officially get released on that date so I'll expect the official English site to update shortly afterwards.

Perhaps they wanted their E3 segment dedicated to the first few minutes of the games that would coincidentally include the early Rodent and Bird Pokemon. So many people have already witnessed Nekkoala and Iwanko and so it wouldn't really go down too well for them to just reconfirm what has already been shown. My guess is that in a couple of days or sometime this month they will release a video including these two with English names.

The new Pokemon we saw today though are great! All three of them are nicely designed and it's seriously making it harder for me to make up a team of just six Pokemon. I know we haven't seen many, but already I'm loving the majority of Pokemon we've been shown.

One thing that stuck out on the official site was this

"Yungoos is not a Pokémon that is native to the Alola region. It was brought to the region to help deal with the explosive population of a certain other Pokémon"

Mongoose have a natural enemy to snakes.. I wonder if we will get a new snake-mon this time..

Also woodpeckers and grubs/ termites are natural enemies, too. Interesting idea about Grubbin getting an Electric typing in evolution..hmm

Pikipek has is one of the more interesting starting bird types. I see it either having fantastic evolutions or disappointing like gen5's .

I also think that they will show Nyakkoala and Iwanko tomorrow after corocoro is already out. I wonder if they'll show more info tomorrow early on at their Treehouse live @ E3.

@ Esper Yeah, I thought of that too. That fur looks like his hair, and then there's the growling teeth...

So we finally see the bird from the teaser trailer in full animation, and what do you know, it really is a woodpecker.

Looks we were wrong about Kekoala, because Yungoos is the real early route Pokémon we'll be encountering. Grubbin came out of nowhere, as it wasn't part of the CoroCoro leak nor did we encounter it from the demo unlike the previous two.
