1996 Complete set - Japanese

Hi, I have an almost complete set - including variations - of the 1996 Pokemon set in Japanese. Set includes 435 cards including 92 hologram cards. All have gone from packs to a binder in 1996 and have been sitting in my closet for 22 years. All are in pristine condition - never played with. What do you think this is all worth? Please email me at [email protected] as I am not sure where to find answers here. Thanks

I was cleaning my room and found these cards. Can anyone tell me how much they are worth or what grade they are?

1. Has anyone ever seen a holographic Dark Flareon from Team Rocket set? Makes me think the card is fake but not quite sure
Your Dark Flareon is fake, though a quite convincing one. Apart from the fact that it was never officially printed as a holo, what gives it away are the incorrect fonts below the WRRC area. The Pokédex description font should match that in the info bar, but you can see that the t's, g's and 1's (to name a few) don't match. The illustrator credit is also the wrong font and too thin.

I was cleaning my room and found these cards. Can anyone tell me how much they are worth or what grade they are?
They're all fake.

Mew and Starmie are pretty convincing at a glance, but these cards were never printed with this kind of foil pattern (they were only ever printed with the iconic galaxy foil or as reverse refractor foils) and the e-Reader symbol in the corner shouldn't have the foil applied to its bevel or line protruding from it. The holo bars in the border should also match the color of the card's type, but these are yellow/gold.

As for Charizard, the fonts are terribly wrong, Pokémon is missing the accented e, the Energy icons are bloated (these come from Energy card artwork, which differ from Energy costs), there are a few instances where spaces are missing, and the "Don't apply W/R" text isn't italicized as usual. Far too many issues to pass quality check, even if it were a misprint. Also, they didn't even make an effort to remove the holo dots from the art background (which I bet don't even shine) and that type of holographic film is a dead giveaway of counterfeits.

No idea what we are doing

Hi, pretty new to Pokémon.
My 11 year old son and me have like literally thousands of cards, from the first editions to the sun&moon 2018 edition.
He's going to school, returns with cards, gives away cards.
Last week-end we started to order them by year, but we still have no idea what we are doing are what we are supposed to do.
It seems that some of the cards we have are worth a lot of money.
Therefor now we want to figure out how to proceed. Any advice is welcome....
Thx,
J.

Gonna scoot this over for the TCG mods. :)

Though, I suggest you look through the cards and perhaps post pictures or information about them here so we can help you assess their value. The name of the Pokemon, the expansion it's from, the little numbers at the bottom - stuff like that.

I know it's allot of photos but allot of cards which don't know much about did when I was younger

Redirected all of this to my favorite sticky.

Urnehe: As Fairy correctly pointed out, we need more info. Sets and numbers do if you know where to look, otherwise anything with GX or EX in its name is a decent start.

Spawnzor: A quick scan didn't return anything of value. However, there are a few more experienced price checkers if you want to let them look.

I haven't looked through all the pics but that 1st edition Fossil Raichu is really cool. Usually runs about $11, if I remember correctly.

Edit; check it out.

This would be better over in the Trading Card game section where you can get your question answered. I'll go ahead and move it there for you.

I've gone ahead and merged your thread into our main "how much is this worth?" thread.

However, what you have is a counterfeit card worth exactly $0. It's a counterfeit version of the below card, and the biggest tell is the holofoil pattern used, which was not used on the actual card as well as never having been used on any actual Pokemon cards. The fonts and energy symbols look off, too, and I'm 90% certain that they're all wrong on the counterfeit, while being 100% certain that at least some of them are absolutely wrong on the counterfeit.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

That's what I thought! My kid got it from a friend at school... we already have the good version but I was sceptical about that one... thanks a lot!

Hello,

Wondering if someone can help or give some advice, I think i may have a misprinted Lapras card from the Fossil set.

The outer border of the card is grey rather than yellow, there seems to be no fading on the main part of the card and there are no standout signs that it is fake, ie wrong font, any blurring, the back of the card is the same blue as the rest of the fossil set and there is no blurring or pixelation of the Pokemon logo.

Im not 100% sure how these were printed other than they were all on one sheet, could it have been a printing error? maybe they ran out of yellow ink during the printing process of this sheet?

I can't find anything online so was wondering if anyone else had an idea?

With the photo for the border, that looks like a washed out yellow instead of grey?

With how legitimate the rest of the card looks, it definitely could be a manufacturing defect, but with the type it is, no one would have posted anything on it, most likely.
