Ari, The Empress.
Ari waited for Marcus to continue but it seemed like he had nothing left to say about her reputation. She grinned, most people went on and on about how she terrified them and listed off the various tales they heard. As they circled around Ari felt as if in this moment they were alone on the ballroom floor. Though, Marcus was one to never be preoccupied with one task that kept him from his duties for too long so she kept that alert at the back her mind. She wanted to enjoy the moment for what it was, a dance with a man she fancied. Another thought tugged at her mind, how the other members would react to their dance? If she was seen cozied up to Marcus the others could think she had gone soft. Yet as the dance continued she didn't mind what anyone else thought, well, beside Marcus. She especially hoped Aerous noticed them as his previous insult had been made invalid.

"It was a pleasure to dance with you." Marcus gave a bow before he they separated and he took his leave.

"I've kept you long enough," Her voice was full of sadness but she knew it wasn't a moment that meant to last forever and she also knew that they would have more interactions soon enough.

Her eyes fell upon Liberta and Felicita and it dawned upon her that there were rumors of a grand speech that would happen tonight. Felicita had yet to spoke of anything relevant to Ari yet since she must show respect she knew she had to appear attentive. Thieves were not her responsibility but the protection of La Famiglia greatly concerned her. Moreno was the main aggressor and likely the ringleader Felicita said. He was not one to respect diplomacy so there wasn't any way Ari could sweet-talk him into a peaceful agreement. She hated the fact that he disallowed her to do her primary job. Ari scoffed at the fact that they were trained killers Moreno certainly needed to do a better job when he trained them. She at least wanted a challenge when she stepped into a middle of a fight. If that was just a warning then Ari was curious to know what was to come. The need to watch her surroundings became more instinctual at the appearance of Nova. Perhaps her dance with Marcus had rubbed off on her in an unexpected way.

Nova's appearance was sicklier than she remembered from their last meeting. Why hadn't Luca cured him? Why was he left to suffer, he was clearly on death's doorsteps and one of the top Alchemist couldn't do anything? Each of her questions was answered as Nova delivered his speech. He spoke about his health, which lead to talk of a new Papa. Ari couldn't imagine any of the other Famiglia members being Papa, there was no one. The Arcano Duello sparked an interest in Ari not because of combat but because of the wish. She could easily wish for Nova to bring her father back from his comatose state. Now, her request to Marcus for combat training wasn't a feigned interest but instead she was genuinely invested in improving her physical skills. Ari almost tuned out the rest of the speech as she closely focused on her personal goals. Fortunately she reverted her attention back as she heard about how death came to whichever Arcana Card The Wheel of Fortune landed on and the winner of the Arcano Duello selected that member. She figured Nova did this so that he wouldn't have to make the decision himself, he cared too much about each of them to ever be able to make that choice. It was a lot to take in, Moreno, Nova's Health, Arcano Duello, and a death to finish. An award for being the most liked member was never to be in Ari's hands, which meant whoever won could easily choose her because of her popularity status in La Famiglia.

Ari went to excuse herself from the ballroom after Nova's speech was done when she saw her Apprentice of Intelligence cowering behind a column. He bled from one arm while the rest of his appearance wasn't much better. Alexander Grant, of The Grant family, which was almost, if not, as well known as the de Telarius's, cardholder of number four The Emperor, and had laughable control of his Arcana Power. Her fisted clenched together as the rage swelled inside her, how he dared to come to the ball looking like that was truly unacceptable.

"You have the nerve to show up here looking like that?" Ari made a motion at his appearance. "You do realize this is your first formal appearance? Unless your goal was to bring dishonor to your family name and to mine?" She cared very little to wait for his likely excuse. "Go on to the infirmary, now. If you can't beat a thief without a scratch you need to listen to my training. Don't think I don't know about your absences or that you try to do it yourself. If you ever embarrass me again," She quietly hissed so others around wouldn't be keen to eavesdrop on their conversation. There wasn't a need for her to finish her sentence despite his short time with La Famiglia Ari had made sure he knew she meant business.

She charged off and nearly ran into another Apprentice, one that only pushed to her anger toward her dangerous level, Tobi. He hadn't danced with Annabelle and he didn't do what she asked. She didn't pretend to smile this time nor laid a finger on him. "Tobi, you didn't do as I asked. I'm not one you want to anger, I'm a fair person but I don't like when people disobey my orders. Watch yourself Apprentice," Ari moved in closer to him as she spoke and as she finished she walked away dismissing any words he had to say to her.

Beck de Telarius: The Hermit

"I've wrapped your wounds now, so you'll need to wash them with antiseptic mixed with water and re-wrap them every six or so hours," Beck passed one of the guards a bottle and a roll of material. "Think of it like... when you wake up, after lunch and before dinner, alright?"

"Thank-you very much," the guard graciously took the antiseptic and material from Beck and smiled. Beck was all too happy to return the smile. As an Alchemist, it felt good to help others. Leaving the infirmary with less pain and a positive attitude was way better than a grown man wailing. With a nod, Beck showed the guard to the door and escorted him outwards. As the guard walked away, Beck turned his head to glance out a window. It was already night time and the moon was shining quite brightly on the mansion. It would be a nice scene to paint if Beck had the time or the skill.

"Beck?"

He turned his head at the mention of his name, Aislinn Brennan hurrying towards him. It was odd, why wasn't she wearing her uniform like she had been before? And why was she wearing make-up? And jewellery? And a really nice dre--

"Aw, shoot!" Beck quickly stepped inside the door, grabbed his coat from the rack, and bolted down the hallway and past Mrs. Brennan, who was wearing a disappointing look on her face. Beck wasn't worried at all what she thought, it was his brother that Beck worried about the most. Luckily though, the infirmary wasn't too far away from the La Famiglia's quarters and Beck was in his room and out of his usual clothing in record time. He very quickly bathed, shaved his face as clean as he could and made a very quick decision on what suit he would wear. He had a few, thanks to Marcus and Camellia (only because she liked clothes), but choosing which was most appropriate was hard. Indeed, it was a ball and that required formal attire, but how formal was too formal? Bow tie? Black tie? No tie at all? Argh!!

Spontaneity picked the black bow tie with a suit and so, with a quick neaten up of his hair and removal of his earrings, Beck was suited up and out the door.

Just as he reached one of the side entrances into the ball, Beck did his thing; invisibility at the moment was the best way to one, sneak into the party without attracting attention to himself and two, pretending like he had been there the entire time. The music was still playing when Beck sidled through an ajar door so it didn't seem like he missed out too much. As he made his way across the floor, trying to find a familiar face that he wanted to talk to, the entire room fell silent and the La Famiglia Papa, Nova, entered.

Beck was next to Flint at the refreshments table when he made himself visible as the speeches started and when they were finished, he had no idea what to say. For a moment, Beck stared into space, absorbing the information that had been given to him.

Someone had to... die?

And then, all at once, a thousand and one things flew into Beck's head. He knew for certain that he was not Papa material (that responsibility landed on Marcus' shoulders) and would probably be defeated in the first round. So, what if Beck was to offer his life? No... as noble as that would be, he did not deserve to die. As far as he knew, neither did anybody else. So, what if you contracted one of the remaining cards with someone who did deserve to die, like a criminal? A person with a fatal disease? An elderly person? Would their life force be enough?

Another question he asked himself was why the Wheel started spinning in the first place. Was it something that was completely random or was it triggered by an event? And if said event was somehow delayed or stopped, would the wheel stop? Or if the Papa or Felicita died? Was it a matter of the wheel stopping though, removing its pointer or keep it spinning?

The atmosphere felt much too dense to ask such serious questions right now, so Beck kept his mouth shut and his eyes glued to his shoes.

There had to be another way, right? There was always another way.

Adam Randi - Justice Arcana

Well now he just felt bad, terrible even. This wasn't so much because he lied to Sword; no, he had a deep rooted disdain for them. Rather, it was because he just lied to someone and made himself look like a stereotype...with little fanfare. Really, it was to be expected, as the officer was quite composed, and there was no way something so trivial would spark ayd noticeable anger. What's more, he talked about Oda and ways he definitely wished he hadn't. As such, Adam sighed and slid to the ground with his back to the wall.

Adam didn't see Mina watching from somewhere, and he actually anticipated her to run towards him only to charge towards someone else and leave him to his own devices, but that didn't happen this time. Adam surmised that she probably found a nice guy to dance with, and she probably found a nice guy to talk with, and she probably found a nice guy to hang out with. He depressed himself with his own thoughts, in the end the ball became a waiting game rather than an actual social event.

He looked up from the ground when he heard Liberta's irritatingly cheerful voice that tore through his mood like butter. He decided to completely disregard him as he suspected that he was only going to talk about miscellaneous crap that Adam didn't feel like hearing at the moment. He returned his sights to the ground and left himself pray to his own sadness.

Still, he noted Mama's mention of the bandits and that they were possibly just the fingers of a larger organization, but he didn't really care- or rather, he couldn't. After the series of particularly bad events that had happened that day, such as Adam falling from a roof to his straight out rejection, he was feeling pretty down. He was sure that the world was out to get him, and all he had to do was make it to the next day to change its disposition towards him. He knew that he would get orders, and as long as he followed them, he would be fine and people would praise him; there was no need for him to know the details behind their operations.

What did catch his ear, however, was the mention of the Arcana Duello. They said that it was a way to see who had the most power over their emotions. Adam found this to be hilarious, and he laughed pretty loud at it, having some of the eyes closer to Adam turned to him. He really didn't care about the glares he was getting, he found the idea of the Arcana Duello to be hilarious and fascinating, and he couldn't hold it in. He thought that one who could best control their emotions would not necessarily mean they were fit to lead. Conversely, one who had best control of their powers would definitely be the best to hold such an important position. He was starting to get excited, but he knew that he wouldn't get The World and, even if he were to win, he certainly wouldn't want the responsibility. He was considering giving up his arcana, however. He knew he could live without it, and there were surely others who needed their arcanas more than he did. He was hesitant to do so as the life he had at that point was completely built around him having his arcana, as was his promise to his father and sister. He would lose everything if he gave up his arcana, and that was a fate worse than death to him.

After all was said and done, Adam smiled, but then drowsiness hit him like a bag of bricks. Really, he was planning to leave the party, but looking back, it was somewhat late, and he didn't get too much sleep the previous night. His eyes returned to the ground. They struggled to focus on any fine details in the flooring as they constantly blurred and made erratic movements. It was no use, Adam decided to stop fighting it and accepted the sweet embrace of sleep.

As Tobi walked off, I had begun to have a rather positive day. Everything was going smoothly and I didn't even get in trouble today. I saw Ari bump into Tobi and say something, though I had no idea what it was and I really had no reason to care. I tout about talking with the other members, but my mind was elsewhere and I felt like I was day dreaming.

After a few minutes and Nova walked on with his wife and Luca. I gave my fullest attention, Nova and Luca were the only people in this house I truly held respect for, and I figured they were closest to being family to me than anyone but my master. Felicia spoke first, though her voice expressed anxiety, and she was nervous. She spoke about the bandits, but brought up one name I had really heard once before. Moreno. I could not remember where I had heard the name though, maybe a dream, or a legend, I brushed it off as swords and intelligence issues.

When Nova stepped on stage and said "Felecita has already delivered the bad news" I believed things would lighten up. Maybe that meant good news was coming, but his words made my heart drop. I knew the man was getting weaker, I just never knew he would die this soon. I couldn't even believe it when he said it, and to add on we had to compete to replace him. He continued on, calling it a cause for celebration, it was nothing of the sort for me.

The news became graver though. As angry as I was about the competition, the last topic, about the wheel, made me fearful. There was not a person in this room I wished to die, not even Ari. I couldn't take it anymore, as soon as the speech ended I stormed outside to vent. Everything had gone wrong with just a few words, and there was nothing I could do about any of it. I was just a kid after all, what could I do.

I channeled all of my energy into a force field on my fist, I think I was feeling rage then, or maybe desperation, but I punched the wall until the field broke and my hand became scraped up. After that I dropped to my knees and began crying. I was going to lose another family, the difference was that this one I knew.

Flint de Telarius- The Chariot

After Flint introduced himself and thrown a slight flirting comment, the girl began to glow with a distinctly red hue. Was she blushing that strongly? Her face became a tomato, something Flint had to keep from commenting or laughing at. It was a cute display, and it gave Flint a new hobby: seeing how red he could make her. An innocent, loving prank. The best kind.

"Uhm..." mutters the woman, her voice quiet and breaking up while her body turned away. "I-I... uhm..." she said, tripping up on her own words. How embarrassed was she? "I'm… I'm... Xo... xaa..."

"Xoxaa? What a beautiful name." Flint said with a bright smile. "A little difficult to pronounce though," Flint joked with an innocent laugh. Flint was trying to ease the tension, as Xoxaa seemed very…uncomfortable in the current situation.

Flint's attempt, however, was overwhelmed by the announcements. Felicita spoke about the events surrounding the attack on Regalo by the group of thieves, thanking everyone for their involvement in stopping the attack to their best of their abilities. Moreno was the prime suspect so far, a name that didn't much mean to Flint at the moment, largely because he didn't remember names unless he had or wanted to. If Flint needed to care, he would care then. Till then, he would prattle on doing his own thing. It is what he was most comfortable doing anyway. Felicita finished up her speech soon enough, introducing Nova. Flint could tell she was holding something back as she avoided eye contact with the crowd following her speech. Anyone could really see it, but it was a matter of who cared to notice. Flint noticed it and he didn't like it. There was more to the attack than that was begin led on. He would likely bring it up to Marcus later and let him worry about it. Flint didn't care enough to actually act on it…at least not yet.

Nova did not look well, meaning the rumors of his poor health were true. Flint wondered if he had enough life left in him to even finish a speech. After a violent cough, Nova was able to address the crowd before him: a new "Papa" for the family and a tournament was to be held to determine the new holder of the World's contract. Flint was a bit wide eyed on the announcement, being caught off guard. Flint, being a relative newcomer, did not know how the traditions of succession were handled, and it being handled in a tournament was certainly a novel way to handle it. Flint was certainly not a candidate to win the tournament, at least by his own credit. He did not see himself as a real leader. He was too irresponsible, too lazy and too reckless to lead something. But…to have a wish granted was certainly motivation enough to get him to care. And maybe…maybe he could a true calling in life in this tournament. And he could shed off his poor reputation within his own family, once and for all.

This inner realization left him blind, for a moment, to the last announcement: that someone was destined to fall. The Wheel of Fortune had begun to spin and whoever it landed on was going to die. Flint had, of course, hoped that he and his family were going to be freed from this fate. As much they bothered him, annoyed him and possibly even hated him, he cared for each member of his family more than he would care to admit. If he could somehow save them, Flint would do so. He hoped they would do the same for him.

The information was a bit overwhelming, but Flint was able to absorb everything and slowly put things into perspective. He knew what he wanted to do and the challenges he was going to face. It was just a matter of him preparing himself for it. It was going to be a test for Flint. Winning the tournament was not going to be easy.

After a brief sigh, Flint turned to his brother, Beck, who Flint barely noticed out of the corner of his eye. "Hey Beck. What took you so long? Marcus is looking for you, by the way. You may want to hide. I think he wants to scold you. You know, the usual."

Xoxaa Illiphia
The High Priestess

Xoxaa had heard what Flint told her, and while it didn't help to ease her bright red cheeks, she had good excuse to look away, instead focusing on the announcements from Felicita and Nova himself. It didn't take her much time to think over what news was revealed, herself primarily concerned over the Arcana Duello, given that she operates poorly under pressure, but still, she has no interest in ruling the Famiglia, and if she were to get far, even though she'd want to win simply due to her competitive nature, victory would hold a very negative consequence. Forfeiting, however dishonorable and unsportsmanlike it may be, would be her action, for she'd rather not choose who to die, as determining the worth of someone else is beyond her scope given the complexity of people and how biased her decision would likely be simply due to her humanity, no matter what effort she may put forth to be objective. The death of someone else, as cruel as it might be to everyone else, is a burden she knew wouldn't be an issue with her. If they didn't die now, they'll die sometime in the future, and as far as she's concerned, everyone has their time, and inevitably, it looks like someone's will be sooner than the rest, even if that might be her. While she would prefer not to be the one chosen to be sacrificed, she figured that she could live with that decision, pardoning the irony of course. Hell, it might even be for the best, as she didn't quite feel like a proper Famiglia member anyone. She doubted anyone would really miss her, or even care for that matter. It's a fate Xoxaa is ready to accept if it happens.

Flint's attention averts to a younger man that literally appears out of thin air, drawing over the attention of Xoxaa herself. "So THAT's the invisible man I heard about? I wonder if he's bothered to use those perverted powers to spy on the woman around here. Maybe he's even peeped in on me! Frankly I find it hard to believe how a boy his age WOULDN'T abuse such a power. I don't know if there's a man alive who doesn't go head over heels for decent looking women."

"Hey Beck. What took you so long? Marcus is looking for you, by the way. You may want to hide. I think he wants to scold you. You know, the usual," Flint alerts the younger man, referring to him as Beck.

"Beck? That's a funny name," she giggles to herself, looking over at the boy with a hidden smirk on her face. "Sounds like maybe he is IS a peeping tom after all! But... What's his connection to our sector leader?"

"Uhm..." she mutters, focusing again on Flint, her cheeks erupting in red once again, still suffering from the backlash resulting from Flint's flirtatious commentary on not only her appearance or her name.

"Do you know... if that boy there spies on nude girls by chance?" making her statement loud enough for both of the boys and others around them to hear her potentially embarrassing commentary on the invisible man, all while pointing directly at him to signify exactly who she's talking about. "I can only assume someone with the ability to hide themselves from sight is probably a huge pervert. I'm a little concerned for my privacy with him around..."

Naturally, her cheeks still a little rosy, but her shy smile begins to morph into a frown regarding her concern over the young man, Beck's supposedly naughty behavior.

Marcus de Telarius- #8 Strength

Marcus exhaled slowly, his hands behind his back as he walked across the uneasy ballroom, the guests still anxious over the announcements that had just occurred. And they had good reason to be. Marcus was also concerned, perhaps not as much for himself as for his family. They were about to be put into situations they would rather not be in, but they would have no choice in the matter. Marcus, despite his personal attachment to them, would have to act not as their older brother, but as their instructor and superior. They most likely would fight him, particularly Flint, but Marcus learned that if he presses hard enough, they would eventually come around. He knows they won't give much positive reaction to him. None ever do, but he hopes they would eventually understand his motives. Even if they don't, they'll do as he demands. He'll make sure of it.

From the corner of his eye, he observed Flint in the corner, talking to one of his subordinates, Xoxxa Illiphia, who had conveniently arrived late. Marcus debated whether or not to approach them. It appeared Flint was actually acting like a proper de Telarius and actually socializing, so Marcus didn't want to interrupt him. On the other hand, he had to reprimand his subordinate for arriving late, since he had asked her to arrive earlier for ballroom security duty. As Marcus debated, he saw Beck's presence, which ultimately made him decide to approach the three. He figured his siblings were probably pretty shaken by the announcements, and a good scolding by Marcus might get their minds off what had just happened, and what will happen and ease the tension. His version of caring.

As he first began his approach, he couldn't hear what was being discussed, although he thought he heard his name brought up by Flint. As he got closer, he heard what Xoxxa began saying, although it was probably easily heard by the people around.

"Do you know... if that boy there spies on nude girls by chance?" Marcus stopped walking as fast towards them and shook his head, walking a bit slower up to Xoxxa from behind. Eyes of other guests traveled from Beck and Xoxxa. "I can only assume someone with the ability to hide themselves from sight is probably a huge pervert. I'm a little concerned for my privacy with him around..."

At this moment, Marcus interjected. "I assure you, miss Illiphia, that my brother does nothing of the sort. He is an upstanding and moral citizen who always behaves appropriately and dutifully. He is intelligent, ethical, and honorable. The only thing he is not..." Marcus says, examining the clock attached to the wall above their heads, "...is on time. Like usual." Marcus says, looking at Beck disapprovingly. He then turned his judgmental eyes to Xoxxa, observing her intently, before addressing her. "Which actually makes two of you. You are aware that you were summoned for security purposes to arrive before the celebrations began? I assume you have a legitimate excuse, and if so I would love to hear it. In fact..." His eyes averted back and forth from Beck and Xoxxa, crossing his arms. "...I assume you both do. Do tell."

Aerous Oxus, The Star

The ball was continuing on its own, bustling as the balls attendants mingled and danced merrily together, minus one Aerous Oxus. Aerous had given up his dance partner, a rather beautiful one at that, to return to his post on top of the stairs, ready to greet the special guests of the night. Looking around the ballroom he took note of where the other members of the Sword were, as they were also part of security, as well as the other card holders. 5 or so minutes passed with Aerous continuing to survey the ball until his card alerted him to the soon-to-be presence of Liberta and Felitcita. He turned, moments before they came into sight, greeting them with a slight bow, to show his respect as well to keep his ability to react to any situation that could effect the well being of the two.

Liberta and Felitcita acknowledge Aerous presence as he stepped to the side and allowed them to pass, following them closely behind as their shadow, their final line of defence if the worse was to happen. Liberta was the first to address the ball, speaking of the celebration before moving to introduce Famiglia's Mama's announcement. Aerous noted that Felitcita was looking rather nervous or worried, he was unable to tell the difference, though her stammering of words lead him to believe it was just nerves. The first half of her speech informed the ball about the days events, including how it was suspected that is was Moreno who had hired the thieves, which was apparently a worrying situation, a fact that personally eluded Aerous. Moreno is the rogue card holder, I think.. he thought to himself as she continued on praising the group who stopped the thieves. As her speech was nearing its end he left their shadow and moved back to his original position, greeting Nova as he appeared, Luca is tow. Nova bowed to the crowds applause before making his way towards the podium. This time Aerous stayed much closer to Nova, due to his importance and the fact that he was looking pale and a little worse for wear.

Nova coughed violently as he took the microphone firmly in his hands, this display of ill health worried Aerous, subconsciously taking a step closer to Nova, just in case. Regaining his composure, Nova began addressing the audience. He spoke of how his health was deteriorating, and that he doubted he would be around for the next ball to celebrate the anniversary of his contracting to The World. The next part peaked Aerous interest quiet a bit. "To determine the appropriate Famiglia member to take my place as head of the family, a tournament shall be held.." Nova continued on with his speech while Aerous apparently froze in time.

Tournament, tournament.. Tournament? I GET TO PARTICIPATE IN A TOURNAMENT!? The severity and meaning behind the tournament was lost to Aerous mind as he thought of the thrill of being able to fight with the other family members and card holders. Though Nova had said it would determine the next head of the family, a fact that had quickly escaped Aerous comprehension after hearing tournament. Another fact that he apparently over-looked, which Nova had continued to explain, was that the tournament would be to see who had the greater control over their emotions, thus leading the the possibility that there wouldn't be any actual fighting between family members in the tournament. I get to fight, I get to fighttttttt. This was the only thing going through Aerous ignorantly bliss mind until he heard the last bit of Nova's speech, the words "donate life force" waking bringing him back to reality. Uh- Why is someone donating their life force..?

"..tournament's winner as to who this fate should fall upon. That is all." With that, Nova's grand speech, and probable last speech as Papa of the family at an anniversary ball was completed. Turning, Nova began walking towards the door, with Aerous taking up position next to him on the opposite side of Felicita. Nova was slowly walking to the doorway, leading Aerous to worry, pushing out his card's power to it's limit in an effort to make sure that nothing bad would happen to Nova. After helping Felicita escort Nova back, he was dismissed and made his way back to the ball, with the meaning behind the speech now starting to sink in.

So the tournament sounds like great fun, but what was that about one of the family members dying? I must ask someone for clarification! He thought confidently, unaware that he would most probably get scolded for not paying particular attention to the families Papa's speech, and made his way into the crowd to find someone whom he could trust to fill him in. Spotting his ever-viligant Sector Head Marus de Telarius, his course was set, with clarification of the situation definitely needed.

Xoxaa Illiphia
The High Priestess

The Commander of Swords knew how to make a swift and silent entry, approaching the skittish girl from behind and making his intimidating presence known, both to her and the man's younger brothers.

"I assure you, Miss Illiphia, that my brother does nothing of the sort. He is an upstanding and moral citizen who always behaves appropriately and dutifully. He is intelligent, ethical, and honorable. The only thing he is not..." the man declares proudly, before his tone alters to reflect his sudden irritation, "...is on time. Like usual. Which actually makes two of you. You are aware that you were summoned for security purposes to arrive before the celebrations began? I assume you have a legitimate excuse, and if so I would love to hear it. In fact... I assume you both do. Do tell."

Xoxaa jumps in reaction, hearing and recognizing the voice behind her, clenching her body tighter by hugging her elbows, knees, and arms, with her hands clasped together, trembling ever so slightly as they hover just below her lip. Her eyes dip downward just slightly but refrains from addressing him head on, terrified by the mere contemplation of gazing into his militant glare that's sure to be there. Instead, all the girl can do is chirp whatever intelligible sounds she can produce under a circumstance of extreme anxiety.

"I- uh... I-I-uhm..." utters the young woman, trying with all of her might to blurt out more discernible verbal content knowing that the scenario would only exacerbate itself if she allows it to linger without any sort of response. "S-S... S-Sorry..."

Giving in under the social pressure, Xoxaa's knees collapse, drawing her body onto the hard floor, landing on her legs with her dress cloaking most of them, but still too short to entirely cover up her lower body feminine frame. While her knees still remain clenched, she catches her fall with her left hand before bringing both arms to her lap, clenching hands together and keeping her head low, her trembling becoming worse with each passing second. Nearly paralyzed by the man's confrontation, it's a miracle that she manages to utter a single word more, but nonetheless, she does, hoping against all odds that her response might be deemed acceptable.

"I-I... was t-t-rying t-to... uh... stop t-the... th-th... ief... C-could... couldn't make it... b-back... in... t-time... S-so sorry!" stutters the visibly terrified girl, speaking in a soft but choked up tone, her face sweating profusely and her eyes wide but locked on to her thighs in sheer terror to the two younger men who stand in front of her.

Beck de Telarius: The Hermit

"Hey Beck," Beck turned his head at the mention of his name. "What took you so long? Marcus is looking for you, by the way. You may want to hide. I think he wants to scold you. You know, the usual." Beck made a face at the mention of his eldest brother. He hadn't spoken since he had run away from his fight. Surely he would be ripped a new one, but at least Flint cared about him.

"M-me? I was--" Beck began, before being interrupted by Xoxaa. Beck had never really spoken to Xoxaa but knew she was part of the Sword. If she had ever come to the infirmary to get wounds treated, it would not have been by Beck.

"Uhm... Do you know... if that boy there spies on nude girls by chance? I can only assume someone with the ability to hide themselves from sight is probably a huge pervert. I'm a little concerned for my privacy with him around..."

"Ex-excuse me?!" Beck's face went bright red. H-h-how could she say something like that? He was standing... right here! Right here! And she was talking right to his brother! And very loudly!! Did she have no respect? No shame?! "I n-never--"

"I assure you, miss Illiphia, that my brother does nothing of the sort," Marcus came in to save the day, his tone very brooding and serious." He is an upstanding and moral citizen who always behaves appropriately and dutifully. He is intelligent, ethical, and honorable. The only thing he is not..." Beck followed Marcus' eyes to the clock. "...is on time. Like usual."

Beck made another face, this one a little annoyed and not particularly pleasant. At least he wasn't blushing anymore. Yes, he had been late. But it had been for good reason.

"Which actually makes two of you," Beck bit his lip. At least he wasn't the only one in trouble. "You are aware that you were summoned for security purposes to arrive before the celebrations began? I assume you have a legitimate excuse, and if so I would love to hear it. In fact... I assume you both do. Do tell."

Xoxaa began to crumble under Marcus' words, stuttering and spluttering out her words. She even fell to her knees. If Beck didn't get scolded on a regular basis, he probably would have done that too. Maybe not as dramatically, because if he made a scene it would have meant more trouble later. But Beck stood firm and silently grinded his teeth.

"I was in the infirmary, brother," Beck said with a hint of hostility. Well, to Marcus, it would be more than a hint, "treating those who were affected by thieves today. Is that all right with you, brother?"

Current Mission

The ball continued on for an hour or so after Nova's speech, allowing the attendee's to discuss what had been said with each other. Liberta and Luca still occupied the area at the start of the stairs, discussing the important matters of the family and keeping an eye on how everyone was responding to the news that had been broken to them. The initial shock and surprise of Nova's news had seemed to die down a little as the attendee's mingling continued, allowing Liberta to feel a bit more at ease after worrying the entire night; about the reactions to Nova's speech and any possible threats on Nova's well being. However, a full week of constantly worrying had began to take its tool of Liberta's energy. Luca was also tired as it had been a long day making sure everything was in order for the ball and all of Lady Felicita's needs had been fulfilled or attended to.

As the night of the ball drew closer to an end, the guests began gathering at the back of the ballroom making their last goodbyes before departing for their homes. "Did they organise fireworks for this as well?" A guest asked out loud, causing the majority of the ball to look out the windows and doors to see the dark night sky light up with an ominous orange light. A dull chanting began to emerge in the distance, accompanying the increase in orange in the nights sky. Taking an interest in the developing scene Liberta and Luca made their ways towards the door, getting to the edge of the crowd as the alarms began to sound. Everyone in the town and at the ball knew what the sounds of these alarms represented; The town is under attack, evacuate. The guards began having trouble suppressing the panic and terror that had taken hold of the balls attendants, with people trying to force their way out of any exit possible, not thinking about what was truly happening. The chanting was becoming louder as it grew closer, with screams being faintly heard every now and then, spurring the balls guests panic on. Looking at Luca, whom was trying to calm down the guests, Liberta had had enough, with the nod of Luca urging him on.

"That's enough! STOP!" Liberta beckoned, his arcana mark lighting up and glowing fiercely on his forehead. The entity of the crowd stopped moving, slowly turning to see a frustrated Liberta standing there behind them. "You people need to calm down, yes we are under attack but running around won't do any good, I'd like all civilians to follow the guards to the emergency escape boats, which are located on the east shore, away from the town and hopefully free of most of the attackers. Any member of the Swords or Cardholders should either help the guards with the evacuation or help any survivors of the town make their way to the escape boats." Taking in a deep breathe while looking at the group of panicked people in front of him, he continued. "Luca and I will personally escort Nova and Felicita to safety. There is a good chance this attack is related to the announcements earlier today so we cannot risk staging our own assult against this army. Be very careful... Deadly force is permitted to ensure the safety of the civilians as well as your own well being. I wish you all the best of luck." Finishing his speech and relaying his orders, he left up the stairs quickly with Luca, the two making their way to Nova's room as the balls guests began leaving in a more ordered fashion with most people heading towards the escape boats.

In town, Moreno's soldiers were leaving their mark, killing anyone in their way as well as burning down anything that would catch fire. The fiery hell engulfed everything it came across, chasing the fleeing townspeople like a greyhound after a rabbit. The controlled soldiers of Moreno continued their monotone chant, wishing death upon the land and anyone who sided with the Arcana Familgia. The frightened townspeople mostly made their way towards the Familgia's main mansion, finding guides in way of guards and family members whom lead them towards the escape boats while protecting them from the soldiers constant attack. The unlucky ones were meeting a much graver end within the town at the hands of the soldiers and flames that followed them. Screams rang out throughout, the poor souls who had been trapped and seeking assistance added to the image of hell that was clearly taking shape in the once scenic and peaceful town.

Escorting Nova and Felicita out had so far been fairly trouble-free for Liberta and Luca, who had yet to come across any of Moreno's men, though they weren't too hopeful at this easy passage continuing. The four higher ups of the Familgia had been travelling towards a secret dock that only a few people knew of, where they awaited a boat to house them and protect them as they escaped from the island. Nearing the docking they began to hear a low murmur, the same chanting from earlier.. Moreno's soldiers. With no time to spare, Liberta and Luca tore through any who stood in the way of Nova and Felicita. More and more Soldiers continued to poor into the supposedly secret dock as they neared the boat, blocking their way. One final push was all it took for Luca and Liberta to clear a path for Nova and Felicita to hurry along. While Luca held back the unrelenting wave of soldiers, Liberta helped Felicita and Nova stumble onto the escape boat, Nova falling from exhaustion after stepping on. "Come on Luca, it's time for us to leave!" Liberta called out, kicking away a brainless soldier whom had jumped onto the boat.
"Sorry Liberta, I think this is my stop." A fairly relaxed Luca replied, smiling. "You were all great friends, I wish you luck until we meet again." He had a surprising content look on his face as he pushed the boat of the dock, cutting the ties before changing back into the fray of soldiers, not allowing any the chance to jump at the boat.
"LUCA!" A defeated Liberta called out as the boat began to drive away, Felicita at the helm.

The island was aflame as the trio floated offshore, Liberta now at the helm steering them towards their next destination, their new headquarters. Tears were rolling down Nova's face as he looked towards the island, his arcana dimming the slightest amount. "You were a great man and a great friend Luca, I'll be seeing you again soon." He said aloud, holding his composure enough to comfort Felicita as she stumbled into his arms and began crying. The tears fell down Liberta's face too as he silently bid farewell to his close friend and brother in arms.

Objectives
  1. Flee the island
  2. Regroup with the other characters
  3. Help escort out the civilians to the escape boats from the ball or from the town.
  4. Explore the surroundings to find refuge
  5. Begin planning survival and retaliation

Xoxaa Illiphia
The High Priestess

Stuttering from the invisible man catches Xoxaa's attention regarding her comments about his presumed perverted exploits utilizing his suspicious arcana powers. The young woman catches sight of his reaction and smiles impishly in his direction in an unconscious response to his cherry red cheeks. Of course, this scenario is brief, Xoxaa quickly falling under the scrutiny of her sector leader as he approaches her and the two other men present.

Minutes later, chaos erupts in a matter of moments as ball guests learn about the invasion occurring on Regalos and the ballroom quickly falls into hysteria. Broken out of her state of shock by the ensuing panic emanating throughout the ballroom. Looking around, she takes in the circumstance, her ears picking up data from various sources to the best of her ability, sorting through the clamor bouncing off the walls and ceiling of the large festive room. Pulling her bag with her right hand from her side to her lap, she plants her hands atop her bag, preparing for any scenario that might warrant action from the girl. She clutches her bag tighter, her eyes this time fixating on the crowds gathering in a corner of the room, seeking escape. Apparently, the island is under attack, and this most likely will mean that she'll be called to deal with the conflict. Although she's still worn out from her earlier scuffle with the thief she apprehended with the help of the older woman from her sector, perhaps as long as she's careful and stocks up with a ton of snacks would act as a strong enough lifeline for her exhausted physique and arcana powers.

I had tired myself out, and was resting against the wall outside. Out of breath and demoralized, I at least told myself that the day would get better. Steven walked out, making me a bit happier. "Hey, are you okay? I know the news was bad, but it could be worse."

"It could?" I said sarcastically.

"Well, maybe not. But everyone has to go eventually." On second thought, he wasn't exactly making me feel much happier.

"Stick to being a soldier, you're a terrible therapist." I said sarcastically.

He laughed, "Well that's good to know I'm in my place."

"How do you do it? Like how do you follow directions with feeling angry or shackled?" I never could relate to people who listened without question.

"Well it is just my job I guess. I mean I have no reason to be angry, and I trust the family." I nodded, I didn't think trust was reason to follow, "And I have always wanted to help people but I never knew how, so when someone tells me what to do as a soldier, I trust that it is to help." When he put it that way, maybe I'd respect them more.

We just kind of layed in silence, enjoying just the company of each other. Suddenly though our peace was destroyed. I saw the smoke of the fire before the alarm. I jumped up, ready for action. "Who is attacking us?"

"Maybe the same people as the speech talked about." He said, equally ready. We heard fearful screams from inside, and people outside fleeing towards the mansion. "This is chaos!" He said. He turned toward me, "You need to get somewhere safe."

I shook my head, "My master would still be in his home, he can barely walk. We have to go save him."

"But I have to report to..."

"I cut him off, if you report to your captain then there is a good chance both me and my master will die. I know you have a job, but right now I really need you." I said desperately, if I went alone I may not be able to carry my master and run back without getting attacked.

He paused, his mind clearly in conflict. "I-I'll go, but we need to help people on the way." He said slowly. I nodded and we ran toward my home as fast as we could, many civilians were fine at first, but as we got deeper into the city, we saw more hostile people. "This isn't a raid, this is a siege!" He said fearfully. They were killing people ruthlessly.

"What kind of monsters would just kill like this?" I cried.

"I don't think it matters, we need to evacuate for now. I don't think we can win a fight right now." I saw one of the soldiers, they had an odd thing about them, something I didn't get. "Let's hurry."

Flint, Marcus, and Beck de Telarius- #7 The Chariot, #8 Strength, #9 The Hermit

Marcus found it a bit sad to see his underling literally collapse in front of him. He wanted to tell her to pick herself up off her feet, stop acting so childish and scared and act more like a member of Swords should, but Beck began speaking before him. Beck's own response was with filled with disdain, especially whenever he said 'brother'. Marcus stared at his brother with his piercing glare, the stare of experience and sophistication. He said nothing back to him, but in his mind, he was actually a bit impressed, content that he had stood up to him this time instead of blowing him off or avoiding confrontation like before. Still, he kept picking his battles at the wrong times.

Marcus looked past Beck now, at the other party guests who began peering out of the windows for some reason. Marcus walked passed his brothers and Xoxxa on the floor and went to see what the commotion was about.

"Did they organise fireworks for this as well?" A guest asked. No, Marcus knew for a fact they haven't, which made the orange glow of light and the soft, but ever-growing louder chanting quite alarming. A few moments later, the alarms sounded, and everyone began to panic. Marcus instantly looked across the room to ensure the other Swords members were moving into position, as they would probably now be needed. Panic began to fill the ballroom, but Liberta was quick to shout it down, and then direct everyone on what must be done. Marcus looked at his brothers.

"Flint, Beck. Listen to me very carefully. I need you two to take your sister Camellia and head to the escape boats. If anyone should require assistance along the way, do whatever you can to help them. Otherwise, do not linger on the island. Do you understand?" He gave them his familiar, piercing glare, as he reached for the back of his belt, where his two golden gauntlets were attached, in case an emergency was to arise.

"And what exactly are you going to do in the meantime?" Flint asked, raising an eyebrow. He wasn't about to follow orders mindlessly, as Marcus had no real authority over him other than being the older "brother." He already basically ruined Flint's chances with Xoxxa.

Marcus adjusted his gauntlets onto his hands, pulling them tight to ensure they were on properly, then clenching his fists a few times. "My duty." He replied. "I'm Commander of Swords. I'll lead the others and assault Moreno's followers while the escape boats get away."

"Right. Well, I guess I will help you out then. Beck can handle himself."

"... I'll help the civilians," Beck said, his face still a little sour from retaliation. "Is that okay?"

"Yes, good." Marcus told Beck. "Watch yourself. And Flint, now's not the time to argue. You go with your brother to the escape boats! That's where your job is." He yelled at him. Truthfully, Marcus just wanted to make sure that all of his siblings got out in one piece. They weren't fighters by trade, even if they may have been in a few before. He didn't think they were ready. Nor did he want to risk the chance of losing them, though this he would never say out loud to them.

"Now is the perfect time to argue. What if something was to happen to you? Do you really trust me to take care of this de Telarius family bullcrap? You are better off letting me help you and making sure we both get of whatever the hell is going on out there alive," Flint yelled back at his brother getting right in his face. He knew he wasn't ready (yet) to be the family head. He was too lazy, unmotivated and selfish to be the family head. Not to mention his other hobbies. Regardless of the issue, Marcus was the better son of the two as much as Flint would argue otherwise. "I can handle myself. I might surprise you."

Marcus glared at Flint, opening his mouth to protest, but knew it would be no use. He was as stubborn as they come. But he was probably right. Marcus sighed. "Alright, Flint. You win. But stay close." He looked back at Beck. "We'll see you on the escape boats, Beck. Get moving!"

"Right," Beck didn't waste time and took off, literally disappearing into the crowd as he headed into town. Marcus meanwhile turned back into the ballroom, where the rest of Swords were. He looked at Flint for a moment, giving him a nod of approval, before shouting to them.

"Swords, on me! We're making a push at Moreno's forces to give the civilians a chance to escape!"

We came upon my home, though the sight of the building broke my spirit. I fell to my knees saddened, tears in my eyes. The building had all of the windows broken, the door was torn off, and debris was strewn about. "Why would they do this..." She had grown up here, it was her life.

"At least it isn't on fire..." Steven said quietly, "And your master may still be alive."

"Yea" I whispered, "He might be..." I wasn't very hopeful, and my mind feared the worst. I couldn't stand up.

"You stay here, out of sight. I'll bring him out for you. I promise." I looked up at him, receiving a smile in return. "We can always build you a new home anyways." I began to tear up, I felt so weak then. He whispered something that made my heart stutter, it probably meant nothing, or maybe I heard it wrong. But before I could ask him he ran inside.

Over ten minutes I worried more and more, until I gave in. Just as I was about to head inside myself I saw three figures walking out of the house. There was much more smoke now than before, but I could see their silhouettes. Two of them were standing like soldiers, and they were holding the third between them, dragging him forward with little resistance. The third looked weakened, beaten, and seemed to look in my direction. One of the standing persons struck it in the head. I was about to jump up and help but it dawned on me who that might be. They captured Steven.

I was good at math, and unless my master was already taken, then he would still be in there so I ran in and snuck in through a back window. The house had been raided, most things had been taken from it. I walked upstairs, just like this morning. Except this time it was a time for a mourning. As I walked upstairs I heard a sound, a faint, morbid sound. As I got closer it sounded more like groans and moans. "Master?" I coughed, "Master!" He layed against the ground, bruised and battered. "Are you okay?"

His eyes stared blankly at me, hopeless and painful. "Why are you here?" He said hoarsely.

"I came to get you." I said happily, he was alive.

"So was that other boy, I told him to go, but he ignored me. They captured him and beat us both. He fought back though, and they said he would be a great addition to their army." He breathed hard, "I won't live much longer and I can't be responsible for three deaths today."

"I can get you back to one of the family members, they could heal you! Or maybe an alchemist." I held his hand, my closest thing to family was being taken along with my home.

"I need you to leave without me, there are documents in my study you should take as well, hidden under the first plank after the door." He coughed, sputtering blood over my red dress. "Don't read them until you are off the island..." He had tears in his eyes, "You look so beautiful, just like your mother." He said the same thing as Steven, and he then died.

"Just like my mother?" I whispered, "You knew her?" I asked the corpse, unable to hold my shock. I would've stayed there till my death, staring at my Master, crying. But I knew I had to honor his last request, stay alive. Sorrowfully I walked to his study and punched a hole in the floor, releasing my anger on the wood that splintered into my hand. I cried out in pain, and pulled the fragments out, then I pulled the documents out with my good hand. They were not documents though, it was a letter, addressed to this house. I led it tightly, bent on not letting it go and escaped the house.

After I had walked for five minutes I turned around, the fires of the town had now spread to the house and I watched as it was ablaze. It was the exact representation of what was inside me, burning rage and destructive intent. I cried enough in that house, I no longer felt sad. I arrived at the docks, all of the survivors already escaped, I'd spent too much time on the island and had missed the exodus. Luckily there was a sailboat though, and I stole that. Inside were some cans of food and bottled water, obviously a fishing boat. I set the ship up and sailed toward the only place I knew the family could retreat to. I could see the other boats in the distance and as long as I stayed near them, I'd be fine.

I stared at the island already a good distance away and clenched her fists. "Everything taken from me, everything destroyed, everything that I loved, will be avenged." My right fist still bled from the splinters, and stung plenty, but I ignored it, suppressed it. I looked at the letter, wondered what it said, but I decided to wait until I got to the others. "I swear on my life, that even if two graves are dug, I will kill who is responsible."

Tobi Lomborte
The Sun

As alarm struck the ballroom, Tobi immediately took action in assisting the crowd to stay calm and orderly exit the mansion. Not an easy task at all, as the citizens were absolutely panic-striken. As the building became clear of people excluding the guards and remaining Family memebers, Tobi immediately blazed upstairs to his room.

"Sir, where are you going?!?" Bellowed a guard.

"To get something!", Tobi shot back, not looing back as he barged into his own room and franticly scanned the area until he found a large furball huddled into a corner. Simon, his cat was tense with all of the chaos going dowstains. Tobi then swifty scoops Simon up in a large cloth bag, slings it around his shoulder, and shoots downstairs with extreeme haste. As he was coming down he saw the de Telarius siblings dash out of the building. He reunites with the guard as the both exit the mansion only to witness a scene of total carnage. The both of them simutaniously drew their swords.

The Knight looked around to find some clarity of the raging scene around them. "We have to assist the civilians in reaching the life boats! I suggest we locate the other family memebers."

"Yes I know!..We've got to go somewhere first." Withought another word he dashed of the eastern district and the Knight had no choice but to follow. Upon reaching a certain house, Tobi's heart was sent racing. It was burnt and smashed to the ground. "Nggh.....", Tobi clenched his fist. (No!!) Then he imediately bolted to the docks and scanned the passangers already leaving to see if who he was looking for already escaped. Then Tobi's eyes locked with a boat just starting to depart from the port. His old foster parents were on that boat. Without hesitation he leaped in front of the slowly departing vessle and called out to them.

"Tobi!" They both called out as they shoved their way to the edge of the boat.

Julia(foster mother) almost in tears, opend her mout to speek, but Tobi cut her off. Tobi needed to be quick as the boat would soon drift out of reach. "Take this!" He handed her the sac containing a wide eyed Simon. "Take good care of him."

Kert(foster father) was next to spak, rather franticly. "Y-Youre coming too right?? You've got to!"

Tobi gave him a weak smile. "I need to stay and help everyone. Please keep eachother safe. I'll make it back, I promise." As the boat started to set sail for the sea at full throtle away from the port, Tobi waved then dashed back torwards the main streets, determined to help end this madness.

Oda Baldotter
~
The passage of time was nonexistant to Oda, as she weaved her way through the crowds of mansion guests and thought about the recent announcement. Though, she didn't so much think as work like clockwork. Her muscles moved without direction, following the muscle memory that they had been conditioned to work for, in those times she wandered through the town itself. She was sure her eyes were as blank as her mind, but didn't much care what any who looked on thought; the Swords were automatons to most of them anyway, for it was what they were trained to handle. Shell-shock, luckily, was a rare thing amongst their ranks; because most of them weren't true soldiers anyway. Just people wearing a badge that the people were meant to trust.

Then came the chaos, rolling across the banquet like a ninja thundercloud that nobody could have seen coming. Except for any Swords watching the ocean, which should have given them plenty of warning about an oncoming storm. Those thoughts were pushed aside, as she pondered, briefly, the consequences of these events, and just what whoever was doing it could hope to achieve. Moreno wouldn't want to kill Nova, because that would mean everyone lost their powers, and torture would nearly kill the Papa, given his already deprived state. Petty revenge was always an option, albeit an unpalatable one. So many resources to waste, and Coin mustn't have been doing their job properly. Such large investments moving around to launch an assault like this would have been noticeable to anyone good at watching world finances.

Nevertheless, the tread of troops would soon be upon the mansion and rummaging through their things, or burning the place down, with the belief that they were doing good for somebody. Unless they were mindless drones, who were clearly a far better alternative to genuine soldiers with things like morale and desperation, which were two key factors to winning any war. Any civilians that couldn't serve as soldiers would likely be killed, while the stashes of the Famiglia would be taken to pay for things such as weapons, fine wines, or whatever the attacker wanted. And the Famiglia would be forced to leave, which meant...

She wouldn't be able to play her piano. Those bastards.

Though her anger at this fact was not much more than indignation, for fury was not something befitting of any card holder, and far beneath any Sword worth the weapon they wielded, which was, curiously enough, often not a sword. A shield would have served better, if they were truly meant for protection, or some form of body armor in this day and age, but they were really there to kill the other guy before he killed them; a dubious form of protection at best. What they were losing was something precious, certainly, but they wouldn't be able to fend off this sudden army; especially not with the leaders of the Famiglia already fleeing. Her only option, at this point, was to follow Marcus' orders.

After a brief meeting, first, as she came upon the slightly panicked Gem, who looked up at the wiser woman with some combination of fear and hope at a secret passage of some sort, perhaps. No such luck, on this island, as Oda ruffled around inside her coat for a few moments and handed it over to the maid's trembling hands. "In my room, there is a sword; take it. Carry it with you to the boat and return it to me once we regroup. In that time, it will give you strength. Do you understand?" She asked, helping Gem to her feet and meeting her eyes with a firm glamor. Gem ran off to do just that.

Oda drew her sword and joined the group of swords that was gathering behind Marcus, ready to obey their supposed Commander's orders. She would have been far more effective working solo, as her title denoted, and better able to strike behind the enemy's lines, but orders were orders, and apparently obeying them rather than doing what was intelligent or cunning was the name of his game. Even having somebody hide in the mansion to await Moreno's arrival, and striking when he showed himself, would have been a good idea; Moreno had no ability to discover concealed opponents, to her knowledge, so it would be as simple a job as any other.

Ah well. Holding the line, and so on.

Xoxaa Illiphia
The High Priestess

The chaos reaches the consciousness, from what Xoxaa can tell, of all of the Famiglia members present. Including Marcus, the imperial overseer of Swords, diverting his attention to the chaos only to get caught up in a dispute with his brothers. Having taken in the surrounding feedback from distressed guards and civilians, Xoxaa quickly comes to a realization. Given the commotion, she would have to act fast, and hopefully go unnoticed until she procures what she needs. Cloaking herself in the fleeing crowds, she breaks off from the mob, and lands her body against a wall, removing her long, high heeled boots and tossing them under her right arm, taking off in a sprint unhindered by her shoes down the halls of the mansion.

"I hope I have enough time to do this..." ponders the woman, turning corners and running up stairs before finding the doorway to her room.

Breaking in to her quarters, Xoxaa drops her bag down by the door along with her heels and swiftly strips down, throwing the borrowed ball attire atop her bed. She visits her small restroom briefly, tossing water in her face briefly to remove the frivolous cosmetics and dries off the moisture before bolting out of the room to explore her drawers of clothes. Knowing what actions she might be involved with, she wastes no time dressing herself in more comfortable attire: a smaller pink skirt with a black t-shirt top with white hiking boots, dress far more fitting for handling whatever turmoil she suspects awaits everyone with the invasion occurring outside all over the island. In only a minute's time from entering her room, the young woman exchanged her attire more applicable for the perceived scenario unfolding outside and removed the unnecessary cosmetics applied to her face prior to the ball... sort of. In fact, her face is cleansed of most make-up particles, minus a few smears and smudges here and there, but Xoxaa didn't care. She can't, even though her somewhat goofy appearance afterwards is somewhat embarrassing, because whatever's happening outside is sure to be of greater importance than her looks. Besides, a shoddy make-up job hasn't ever made her look bad before, and men still hit on her no matter what she looks like at the time, granted such attention was never something Xoxaa really took pride from, but she still appreciated the fact that she's a good looking young woman.

No sooner than she entered, she leaves, scooping up her bag at the door and slinging it over her left shoulder before heading down the hallways and corridors at even greater speed now that she's wearing proper footwear. In no time, her route brings her back to where she started, only to realize, to her misfortune, that Marcus still resides in the vicinity. Not only that, but he's yelling commands to those around him, including, inconveniently, her own sector, the Swords.

"Swords, on me! We're making a push at Moreno's forces to give the civilians a chance to escape!"

"Well, maybe this situation can earn me a better impression... I hope," calculates the analytical woman, slowing her speed to stop, falling behind whatever forces Marcus manages to call forth.

Falling under social pressure before she even manages to resume interaction with her sector head, her gaze drifts once again towards the ground, hoping to remain unnoticed once more long enough so that they can fulfill their duties as defenders of the island, the only thing Xoxaa might actually be good at in a social setting. Still, the thought of Marcus addressing her only causes dread to circulate around wildly inside of her hyperactive mind. Her face follows this motion, fixated towards the ground with a slight frown on her face while the rest of her body hugged her sides tightly, expressing her tense emotions visually.

Ari Terranci
Center of Regalo/Regalo Woods
Card: #3, The Empress

After her confrontation with her subordinate Ari quietly yet hastily ducked out from the ballroom and headed towards her own room. The ball would last approximately another hour or so and since her focus had been unfortunately shifted she was in no mood to deal with the waste that cluttered the busy dance floor. A heavy sigh left Ari's mouth as she finally slipped into her room undetected she couldn't deal with people especially those that were apart of La Famiglia. Her body fell into one of her soft to the touch lavender chairs. She didn't quite remember what material it was made out of it but was by far her favorite. Mounds of papers made themselves at home on her desk with one file and all its content spread open rested on top of the others. Somehow Ari had fooled herself into the thought that her work was done but she was Head of Intelligence her work was never done. As easily as it would be to pawn it off to one of her lackeys they tended to have the loosest of lips to whoever could spot the cash. Nowadays she only trusted Camellia and herself with the privileged files although there were files even she couldn't show her right-hand.

In an effort to remove herself from her current thought provoked state she shuffled through the material on her desk. Her most tedious project was the one that involved the members of La Famiglia. Ari had committed those ones to memory with Moreno around it was much too dangerous to have those types of files around for just anyone to see. A yawned escaped Ari's mouth her eyelids felt suddenly heavy as she nestled into her chair. Before she knew it forty-three minutes had passed her by in an instant. Several drawn out blinks and eight eye-rubs later Ari senses had focused and she heard a soft murmur almost like a ritualistic chant outside her window. She quickly sprung up from her chair and threw open the curtains to reveal a sight that baffled her, the island of Regalo in flames. Every precaution and protocol about this situation whizzed through her mind faster than she could grasped. Immediately she began to undress herself, she placed each of her hands on the opposite side of her hips and forcefully removed her white dress over her head. Then with one finger flung her heels out, which both landed with a clunk on the other side of the room. In haste she made a dash to her closet and selected a black low-cut shirt, a leathery purple jacket, and skinny jeans to match. Her accessories included the black bangles she had worn to the ball and two black studs in her ear. If there were attackers out there the least she could do was let them look at something fashionable before they died. She patted her thigh that confirmed her knife was still firmly attached to her hip.

Ari stepped out into the hallway almost simultaneously her Arcana Mark came to life. If one were to peer down the hall she was in they wouldn't see the tall, deadly force that moved toward their direction. Thankfully her card power granted her the power of slight invisibility as Ari could casted an illusion on the mind of someone to make them think she wasn't even there. It was the perfect method to utilize on the battlefield and one she intended on using in the tournament if she was forced to participate. The mansion was left behind and Ari made her way into the center of Regalo where the flames burned the brightest. Trying to shield herself from the flames she kept her right arm bent just above her eyes as she searched through the smoke. Each step was took with caution to avoid the dead bodies that littered the streets. The chants still rung in her ears but from which direction she couldn't tell. Ari began to run towards Domencio's shop; she hoped that he had the intelligence to have gotten his family out alive. When she arrived on the scene a man she could barely see was butchering someone who laid defenseless on the ground with what looked like a butcher knife. As she took her next step the man immediately detected her even with all the smoke clouding the air. Ari saw the man rush toward her unlike the thieves earlier this one was meant business.

What she lacked in physical combat skills Ari regained in fast reaction time and quick thoughts. She rolled onto the blood soaked ground as the blade swung where her body had previously been. Ari stood up and swiftly kicked the guy in the gut as he turned around to face her, which had almost threatened to swallow her entire left foot. With the smoke and flames that surrounded them it was had for her to rely on her illusions because her opponent weaved in and out of it. Ari firmly grasped the hilt of her knife it felt right in her hand. Nova had a very strict policy on when they could take someone's life and surely this fitted that situation. If not, it's not like Nova was around to discipline her Ari thought. Through the smoke to her left came a hand that welded a knife and in response Ari dodged the weapon and traveled down the arm so that she ended up behind her attacker. Her knife's blade reflected the flames as well as absorbed the heat from the environment. Ari pressed her arm securely around his neck. Despite her steady hold the man seemed more like a bull, restless and had plenty of fight.

"It's time to put you down, any last words?" She liked to let them think they had last words but she would stop their existence before they had the chance to choke any words out.

"Ms… Terranci!" The man managed to choke out. Ari's arm went slack causing the man to easily rip from her grip and turn to face her. His face became recognizable to her even with all the grime and soot smeared on it, it was Domencio.

"My, my I'm glad I didn't kill you first." Ari grinned and Domencio returned it. He responded by telling her how the man who she had seen him stabbing was one of the ones that had ravaged his business. His wife and child were already on an escape boat but he foolishly turned around once he remembered he left their savings in the store then he returned and that's where he met the zombie-like foreigner.

"I saw some heading towards the deep fore-" Domencio's voice grew softer as Ari took off towards the woods where she used to call home.

Guilt settled in as she had never even considered her father as someone she needed to save. Her footsteps pounded the pavement as she dodged every dead body, burning debris, and zombie solider she could and made her way towards her house. She spotted two men carrying touches who stopped every few seconds to set another tree on fire and then continue onwards. A loud whistle drew their attention toward Ari where she motioned for them to come to her. One had a long, blond ponytail and looked quite scrawny while the other was bald and stocky. They met each other's gazes and nodded before the bald one launched himself at Ari. She responded by delivering a swift kick to his abdomen that made him cry out in pain. Her concentration switched from him to the other in hopes of finding a way to defeat both of them. Mr. Bald unsheathed his long, brass sword while he advanced forward. Ari rushed toward the man, his sword soon swiped at the air in front of her. Lucky for her he had easily fallen victim to her first illusion, she had projected an image of herself a few inches ahead of where she actually was. That allowed her to observe how he handled his sword and it was clear that he was quite new at this but his swipes were made with force.

Unknown to Ari, Ponytail had taken his partner's torch along with his own torch and created a ring of fire to trap them inside. He then waited for the signal that his partner would give once he was ready to take the poor girl down. Ari eyed her surroundings after she caught Mr. Bald grinning from ear to ear as if he had already claimed victory. In a flash he was on her, once again he swiped at her, which left Ari only able to defend herself with her knife. She was able to block his poorly aimed attacks but the sheer force of his blows pushed her backwards towards the flames. Ari gritted her teeth and dove northwest of her current location. Ponytail and Mr. Bald both lunged at her as they continued to chant the words Moreno had taught them. With her back pressed against the flames Ari decided that she'd rather take a fist than a sword. Ponytail's fist caught her on the jaw as she sidestepped the area where she thought the sword swung. A pain sharper than the one that resulted from the blow to her jaw made her realize her sword calculation had been off. The sword had sliced through her jacket and dug deeper into her flesh. Ari casted two illusions at the same time, one a giant bear that rushed through the flames to guard her and then that the circle of flames had died down.

With her left hand cupped to her damaged right shoulder Ari ran forward and slammed her head into Ponytail's stomach, which caused a stunned Ponytail to stumble and fall backwards. She seized that moment with her knife to make sure Ponytail wouldn't ever attack her again. Ari panted heavily as she wiped the blood from her knife onto her pants. Mr. Bald appeared a little move brave in face of a giant bear and charged toward it with his sword out. Ari swore under her breath as his sliced through her illusion and then without hesitation ran towards her. The sword's tip stopped inches away from her heart and then dropped to the floor along with the man that had controlled it. Ari looked from the crumpled body upwards where she met the gaze of a plump, older man who held out a boulder high in the air. He grinned before he dropped the large rock on top of the body, which caused the sound of broken bones.

"You're injured," Domencio's face dropped as he saw the open wound.

"It's nothing!" She shifted her hand back on top of her injury and began walked forward. "Why did you follow me?"

"If I hadn't…"

Without any more words spoken between them they trudged deeper and deeper into the woods. As soon as they arrived at Ari's destination she was unsure of why he had followed her around because she surely didn't want his pity. With each movement her shoulder ached but the blood had ceased so she knew she wouldn't bleed out. Domencio stepped in front of Ari to open the screen glass door but she swatted his hand away, which left blood splatter wherever she touched. Ari looked at the door as closely as she could even though it was dark she could tell the door was slightly cracked opened. Every lesson that she was taught about stealth flew out the window as Ari one handily knocked the door open and run into the house. Adrenaline coursed through her system as she threw herself at the man who hovered over her father's restrained body. Her fist pummeled into the victim's face, left, right, left, right, over and over and over again. Tears welled up in her eyes much to her disapproval but she couldn't stop them. Emotions flashed through her that she had kept bottled up, words she had never said and ones she was all too familiar with were spoken, and memories that were buried resurfaced. Her punches waned in strength but Ari continued until the mixture of pain, blurry eyesight, and tiredness got to the point where she wasn't even hitting her target.

Two rather large hands wrapped themselves around her torso then lifted her up onto her feet and gently wiped away her tears. Ari was slowly leaned back into a chair as she watched the man undo the restraints that kept her father in place. A smile appeared on Ari as she noticed for once her father actually looked at peace despite his unkempt appearance. With the ball she had completely forgotten to cut his hair and give him a quick shave. Pain filled Ari; she couldn't believe this was all her fault. A stupid ball wasn't worth more to her than her father yet she had let it come in the way of her responsibilities. He was soon cradled in Domencio's strong arms. Ari reached her hand out to stroke his hand when the sound of chanting shook her out of her mindset. In a flash Ari was at the window ever so slightly she pulled the closed curtains outward in order to peek outside. Flames were spreading, Moreno's men were somewhere out there in the darkness but everything seemed to blend. As she looked back to Domencio she noticed a sheet was placed over the man she had pummeled but its white color was dyed a deep red in some parts. Slowly, her eyes glanced at her shaky hands, which had made the same color transition as the sheets. Ari pressed a single finger to her mouth and waved Domencio to follow her as she opened a side door.

Their steps outside crunched the leaves underneath the weight of their feet. A slight breeze blew through the trees as they continued their quest back to the town part of Regalo. Inch by inch they cautiously traveled out of the woods and into the city. The flames had grown and the smoke was heavier than she remembered, which caused her to fall back closer to Domencio. A reflection caught her eye when Ari looked downward she saw herself in a blade of a sword. Blood in the shape of her hand was smudged on her face from when she had leaned into her hands. The tears had caused lines to form in blood that looked painted on. Shakily Ari snatched up the sword and placed her knife, blade up, in her back pocket and covered it up with her jacket. Their speed picked up as weaved their way through the town somehow they managed to avoid most of Moreno's men. The ones they had encountered Ari lead them away and took care of them with her new weapon. She quickly adapted to the weight and feeling of the sword. Even though most of her blows missed entirely she got the job done and returned to Domencio who hid in alleyways. One man had successfully reopened her wound with his own sword and would've down the same to her throat if she hadn't had Arcana Powers.

They arrived at the escape boats and Ari ushered them onto the nearest one, which contained Domencio's family. He wished her luck and Ari made him swear on his life that he wouldn't ever reveal the man's identity (even though he didn't really know much) and protect him with his life until she could look after him once more. After she waved them off she confidently faced the town of Regalo where the screams echoed into her ears. Her job wasn't finished until she cleared as many houses and building as she could. The pain in her shoulder throbbed as it bled almost as if it was reminding her she wasn't invincible.

Aerous Oxus, The Star.

Guests continued to slow down Aerous' approach on Marcus, his clarification on the situation still definitely needed. Only about 15 meters away he was stopped by a person he knew from his uncle, whom forced Aerous into a conversation. The conversation between the obstacle and Aerous continued for a few minutes, as the idiot couldn't think of a good way to get excuse himself without seeming extremely rude to his uncles good friend. I need to talk to Marcus.. Why won't you stop talking to me! He thought, getting slightly frustrated as he looked over to Marcus, who was now beginning to talk to his brothers. Bringing his attention back to his uncle's friend he was surprised to see that he was no longer there talking. Having a quick look around Aerous noticed the man had walked of and began talking with another guest, saving his time and allowing him to continue his quest of clarification.

Sliding between other guest he closed in on his target, only to see Xoxxa, who was another member of the Swords trembling in front of Marcus, whom was talking. Not daunted by the fact that Marcus was looking slightly annoyed Aerous continued onwards until he got into ear shot of hearing the end of Marcus' speech. Well, this doesn't feel like my questions going to go down to well. BUT I MUST FIND OUT! He thought to himself, slowly getting closer to hear a stuttering Xoxxa try to defend herself. Eh!? With shock he watched Xoxxa drop to the ground in a bundle. The sight was indeed shocking to see that a member of the Swords was sitting on the ground trembling while replying to her superior. Stopping Aerous began thinking about what he should do, should he interject and try and save her, regaining her confidence? Should he take Marcus' attention away from her with his question? Should he just stand there and watch how the situation pans out, looking for a more appropriate time to talk to Marcus? Before he realised it the entity of the ball was looking out the windows and asking what the glow outside was. Wait, theres a glow? The thundering of alarms then began to blast, alerting Aerous to the fact that there was definitely trouble outside.

The attendants had began to panic when the alarms continued to roar, making the entrance doors to the grand ballroom chaotic. Aerous had joined a few of the guards and family members whom were trying to contain and calm down the group before Liberta took control of the situation, forcing everyone to stop with his Arcana power. Liberta gave his orders to the group, with everyone having their own jobs. The guards were to escort everyone from the ball to the escape boats, the ball attendants were to follow the guards in an orderly fashion to the escape boats and the Cardholders were to either help escort the ball attendants or go into the town and try to save whomever they could. Deadly force was also permitted. NO LIMITERS! I'M OFF TO THE TOWN! Aerous thought as he rushed towards the door. "I'm off to save the townspeople!" He yelled as he ran past Marcus and Flint, disappearing out the door.

The sound of fire, screams and chanting all became much louder as Aerous got closer to the town. Lots of towns people were fleeing from the town with Aerous just pointing in the direction of of the escape boats, not paying to much more attention to them than that. Reaching the outskirts of the town there was less and less people coming, but still loud screams rang out, determining his destination. Running towards the sound he jumped onto a barrel next to a house, using it to boost him to the roof. Reaching the top of the roof Aerous could see a young women back up in a corner between a building and fence with a group of men closing in on her, bloodied weapons in hand. Arcana mark glowing, he jumped off the roof, arcing in the air grabbing one of the men's head as he went past. A crack escaped the man's neck as Aerous leg's neared the ground. He let go of the man's head as he landed, leaving the lifeless body to drop to the ground. The 4 remaining men turned and looked at Aerous with confusion on their faces, clearly wondering what had just happened. Aerous face was expressionless as the group began charging him, swinging their weapons recklessly in an attempt to cut him down. With his arcana mark glowing lightly he easily dodged everything, slowly pulling out the two guns which were strapped to his back as he continued to dodge their sloppy attacks. The fattest of the group stepped in front of the others and thrust his sword at Aerous' heart. Aerous' left hand shot out from behind his back, it's barrel sliding down the swords edge pushing it away from Aerous chest. The sword shot between his arm and torso as he under loaded his gun in the man's face, quickly moving towards the next target at the body fell to the ground. The slaughter continued in much the same fashion with Aerous using his guns to deflect the groups clubs, swords and knifes before countering with fatal shots to their bodies or heads. The woman was still trembling in the corner with her hands covering her face when he approached her. Tears were running down her face while she took in his quick explaination of what was happening and left towards the mansion as Aerous had instructed.

Going from scream to scream Aerous cleared a path for escaping townspeople, not allowing a single of Moreno's soldiers to lay a finger on anyone once he had caught sight of them. It was getting hotter and more densely packed with soldiers as he got closer to the centre of town, with less screams being heard over the fire and chanting for him to follow. The path of destruction he left was also getting more gruesome as more soldiers appeared, with him showing no mercy. Bodies, blood, and limbs strew the path that Aerous had travelled, giving off the impression that a natural disaster has gone through the town to meet the invading army. Sprinting into a group of soldiers whom were lighting more fires, his merciless onslaught continued.
