Plot
Professor Oak smiled as he stepped off the S.S. Anne onto what appeared to be a deserted paradise island.
"This is the place. This will be where these poor, unfortunate Pokemon will have the freedom to live their lives free from all the bitterness and resentment and mockery steeped upon them by the modern world."
He took out of his bag a collection of Pokemon eggs, all different colours and sizes, and scattered them around the beach. These were eggs of 'novelty' Pokemon: those we think of as 'kooky' or 'ridiculous' or 'a crime against nature' or 'just plain weird'. Those Pokemon who receive fame only through irony, who aren't picked first for battle teams, and who are often the butt of jokes among Pokemon connoisseurs.
When he hopped back on the S.S. Anne, he truly thought these critters would have a better life here than on the mainland. Unbeknownst to Oak, however, was that he had accidentally placed a number of additional, non-novelty Pokemon eggs on the beach also. These eggs would eventually hatch into some of the most famous, arrogant and dangerous Pokemon of all: the Kanto starter Pokemon. What havoc would they unleash on the poor, sometimes defenseless, novelty Pokemon? And also a Jigglypuff egg was there, for some reason.
It would only be a few hours until nightfall, when the eggs would hatch and bring forth whimsy and novelty and, eventually, murder onto the island.

Outline and Mechanics
For those new to mafia, please read this very helpful guide by gunner/Salzorrah. All done? Good, then I'll begin.
Novelty Pokemon Mafia will be a standard game of mafia (innocents, mafia and third parties) with regular mechanics, but with a few twists, as described below:
Evolution
One of the key elements of the Pokemon franchise, be it video game, anime, card game, etc, is the concept of evolution: Pokemon changing their form into something more powerful to help them in battle. As you will see below, a number of the characters have the potential to evolve over the course of the game, in ways similar to how the Pokemon do in the franchise. Certain Pokemon will need the assistance of items that may be distributed throughout the game; other Pokemon will evolve if they are still alive at a certain point in the game (with levels being outlined below). Upon evolution, certain Pokemon will receive new abilities, or become more powerful, or sometimes nothing will happen at all!
When a Pokemon evolves, a public post will be made outlining that an evolution has ocurred, but no more information will be given publicly.
Voting
Further to the above, in addition to amending certain players' actions, evolution will also impact lynch votes. Certain Pokemon will start off the game with their votes not counting towards the final total; evolved Pokemon have the potential for their votes to count more than once. There will be other, hidden, ways of votes being manipulated also throughout the game.
As such, it is critical that you rely on your own instincts for who to vote, and not rely on bandwagoning, as that may not have the intended consequence that it does in other games. You have been warned!
Levels/Phases
At the start of the game, everyone will be at Lv0 - the equivalent to Night 0 in a standard game of mafia. The first day phase will be Lv5 and operate like a standard day phase. When the night phase rolls around, everyone will level up to Lv10, and the cycle repeats itself until the game ends.
A simple way to remember this is that levels that end with 0 are night phases, and levels that end with 5 are day phases.
At the start of the game, roles will be randomly assigned to players. In this game, detailed role descriptions will not be given in the below text. Instead, I will gave vague descriptions of the roles, and people will learn further details about their own roles and night actions (if relevant) in the PM that I share with them at the start of the game. Upon death, the full role PM of the relevant player will be revealed.

Rules and Mechanics
- Please be civil to one another. This is only a game; we're not opening the Ark of the Covenant.
- Each day phase will last approximately 48 hours, and each night phase will last approximately 24 hours.
- Unless stated, you can't target yourself with your Night Action.
- Lynch votes must be written in the format of [#LYNCH] Username. If you want to change your vote, you must use the format [#UNVOTE] Username. Not following this format will result in your vote not being counted.
- Votes for a no lynch/abstaining are NOT allowed.
- A tied lynch vote will result in a coin toss to determine who gets lynched.
- Missing two consecutive lynch votes will result in your removal from the game.
- Do not share PMs for any reason. If you do, you will be removed from the game immediately.
- All important game conversation should be kept in the game thread, or in any relevant Discord chat.
- If you are dead, please stay dead. Don't post or 'like' any new posts. You do get to post a single "death post" that may not contain any game-related information.
- Posting in the night phase is not allowed, unless stated otherwise.
