Welcome to Camelot Trigger

Timeline

In humanity's far future, a familiar tale is twisted and retold: a man named Arthur is crowned king. Brave knights rally to his standard, and in gigantic suits of armor, they clash with their great enemy in battles across the solar system. And as the epic struggle rages, the king finds his love and loyalty tested by his queen and his best knight… This is CAMELOT Trigger: the romance and intrigue of the classic Arthurian legend combined with the spectacle and scope of giant robot battles in space—one of the world's most well-known and beloved stories played out in a setting of sci-fi action and high adventure.

Camelot Trigger will be semi-sandbox. You can adventure, explore the system and fight in the multitude of small battles as well as interact with other characters at your leisure. However, in due time your king shall call upon you.

I'm totally loving this. I'm not going to reserve a spot, but I'll definitely see about joining once my finals are over.

Looks good from what I can tell. Don't be mad at me, but I had forgotten to put in the su that you should link to a previous rp or do an example of a day in the life of your character so that everyone can get an idea of how each other writes. After you get that done then you'll be accepted. As for how often you should post, once the IC thread is up then it's as often as you'd like. Though it'd be nice to see a post at least every two weeks :)

I was hesitant about putting this down, because it's just a lot more reading. But just letting you all know that these are some of the general designs for each army's armours.

No worries! As I said in my first post, this will be my first RP (far from my first work of fiction, though), so I will go ahead and write the darkest day in the life of Titus Pallen, outlining the events that brought him to the Wreck.

Spoiler: The Escort
Titus dropped his plasma torch when they told him. The safety valve broke, and ionized gases melted a hole into the floor, but he didn't notice.

The fifty-first engineering corps were being mobilized. He leaned against the mech he was repairing and tried to steady his shaking legs. He rubbed his cold and clammy hands against his nanofiber vest.

"This will be a full-scale escort mission," the soldier told him. "Every available mech and pilot shall be mobilized to retrieve the prototypes from Tethys. Enemy resistance is expected."

Titus couldn't hold himself up. He slid onto his knees and choked back his sobs.

"You'll be flying A5 Gilgamesh 24F, in warehouse six. Your designated coordinates are programmed into the Snapfire. Arrive by o-eight-hundred hours tomorrow."

The soldiers left. Titus wept as the plasma torched burned itself out.

**********

Titus' hands shook on the twin joysticks as he maneuvered his mech through the endless cubed ranks of the silver-clad army. He could see his spot, a tiny void in the geometric construct. His mech's left foot brushed against a torso as he locked the Snapfire's navigation system. The mech jerked and aligned itself with the computed flight pattern.

Your flight coordinates are now locked into the core computer system the Snapfire told him. All piloting shall be done automatically. However, it is still necessary for you to control the weapon systems. Simply push the joysticks forward and select your weapon.

Titus shoved the joysticks, and a short list popped up on the holographic display. He selected the right plasma rifle. The right leg popped open, and the mech's arms pulled the rifle out of its internal holster. Titus swiveled the holographic display and saw that everyone had done the same.

The formation shall be maintained until contact is made with the enemy, in which case the mainframe shall analyze and coordinate your movements.

He brought up every HUD he had, from coolant gauges to his ammo supply. One monitor had a small-scale map of the formation, with a space for the cargo ship at the center. He checked every gauge and monitor ten times over as they flew to Tethys. Once there, the formation opened up and swallowed the bulky cargo ship.

Sweat dripped down Titus' fingers as the formation lumbered home. The temperature in his cockpit was slowly rising, but he didn't think to vent some coolant. He swiveled his holo display, but he couldn't see anything but the endless ranks of platinum-plated mechs.

He saw it first on the minimap. Hundreds of blue dots disappeared, and a swarm of red blips flung themselves into the display. The blue dots spread themselves out, absorbing the brunt of the Emergent offensive. Titus bowed his head in relief when he saw his own ranks were far from the fighting.

A second wave hit, and the left flank dispersed. He saw ranks of blue melt away above his blip on the minimap, and he braced himself. The mech's rocket boosters fired up and he lurched forward, out of the way of a Tesla missile. The electromagnetic explosion below him stunned his electronics, but they rebooted themselves.

Engaging enemy. Fire at will.

A Basalisk darted through the ranks and latched itself on Titus' left arm. He tried moving his aim cursor over the enemy, but his arm couldn't bend far enough to hit the Emergent.

Ejecting left arm. The arm casing popped, and the arm floated in front of him. He shot the Basalisk beneath its angular head casing, spraying bits of its internal computer system into space.

Titus pressed down the trigger and fired his plasma rounds into the swarm of serpentine Basalisks. The two armies exchanged volleys of golden and gray bursts of ionized atoms. Mechs around him melted and sizzled as the platinum coating fell off in flakes.

"What the heck is happening?" he shouted at the Snapfire. "Their plasma's cutting right through the plating!"

His mech lurched aside as an enormous column of ardent energy lanced through the enemy ranks, disintegrating hundreds of Basalisks. He brought up the minimap and saw that the Yamatos were deployed, perforating the enemy with high-density photon beams. Then one of the Yamatos disappeared, along with half of the left flank defenses.

Hydra detected. Do not engage the heads, repeat, do not engage the heads. Target the main hull.

"Hydra?" Titus asked. "What the heck is a hydra?" A group of mechs in front of him exploded, and he saw his answer. Floating at the heart of the swarm was an enormous black plated sphere. Long metal cables were mounted on brackets that swiveled about the main structure. Each cable was encased in thick carbon-fiber plates. Some of the cables branched off, and all of them ended in a serpentine maw, which contained an ion cannon. As Titus watched, an ion burst slammed into a cable, breaking it into two. The carbon plating reformed itself into two smaller casings, and the head cannon broke into two pieces. The two new heads fired a simultaneous burst and fried their attacker.

Titus' Gilgamesh lurched, and he was propelled towards the mechanical monstrosity.

"No, wait!" he shouted, tugging at the joysticks. His aim cursor darted about the holo display, but the mech didn't change course.

The hydra's heads compressed themselves together, forming a massive ion cannon aimed at the heart of the escort convoy. Titus' mech flew straight into its maw.

"No, not like this! Break off! Disengage! Get out of here!"

Your sacrifice shall be remembered.

"To heck with that!" Titus shouted back. He unbuckled himself and reached down under the Snapfire console. He felt for the main power supply and disconnected it. The snapfire shut down with a static hum, and his mech lurched to a stop.

Titus put his hands back on the controls when the hydra fired. A gray column engulfed his field of vision, and he saw flakes of his platinum armor peeling off. His geiger warnings activated, telling him that beta radiation was flooding the chamber. His front armor started to incandesce from the heat. He felt his face burning, and his hair drifted off in withered brown clumps. He titled both throttles downward, and his mech fell out of the ion blast.

He felt the explosion from behind him, a powerful magnetic field that shoved his mech forward. His HUD mapped the explosion radius with the disappearance of blue and red dots. The cargo ship was the first dot to die.

The initial pulse of magnetic force was followed by a giant sphere of invisible energy that ate away metal it came in contact with. Titus watched as the Hydra above him disintegrated and drifted across space like carbon snow. Titus braced himself for death, but the magnetic shove kept him ahead of the invisible energy surge.

As he was about to pass out, a piece of metal drifted next to him. He holstered his plasma rifle and grabbed it - it was a photon blade. Its sleek, platinum coated hilt was the last thing he saw on his holo display before he passed out.

Very nice! Accepted. I look forward to RPing with you :)

I was going to make a guy with a mask, but it looks like Bard beat me to it. Covering burn scars, that was the reason I had, too. Oh well, I'm adaptable. "Adopt, adapt, improve." That's the motto of the Round Table.

Hey, if I'm from Mars, can I make a mech using bits snd pieces from other mechs? I like to mix things up.

Of course. That's like, their whole thing. Anyone can go to mars, build a mech, and get knighted with minimal research into their past. Mars is the land of opportunity.

Cool. Since I'm from the planet of factories and pit fights, I'll make a gladiator style knight. A fighter, rising up from his past as a slave, with a flair for dramatic showmanship and a cobbled together Armour built for toughness.

I just realized I might've caused people a few problems with my character's back-story. I, uh, kind of destroyed most of the Saturnite fleet. I hope people see this as an opportunity for their stories rather than a roadblock. Anyways, I also thought it'd be nice to leave a few suggestions for anyone who hasn't submitted their SU's yet.

-There's probably some cool, prototype weapons floating around in Saturnite space. Just be realistic - most of them probably don't work after that EMP and photon explosion, but I'm sure there's some Tesla rifle, or low-range teleport field hiding somewhere in the space debris. Better get to it before someone else salvages it!

-The Saturnite fleet has to recover, but there could be as many as a few hundred survivors. They'll also try to salvage their lost prototypes. And if they happen to receive a transmission from Titus' Snapfire *wink-wink* they'll be sure to send someone after him.

I look forward to working with you all on what I'm sure will be an epic RP.

I don't see the entirety of the Saturnite fleet getting wiped out so easily. I would believe however that what was dispatched was about a tenth of the total power since the Senate believes in protecting themselves first and protecting their assets second. And then Arthur does also provide the senate with some protection so that they might send a portion of their power to benefit him. So maybe about half of the Saturnite fleet is actually still on Saturn, but %75 or %80 of its full power still survives. It'd be a pretty short war if a large army could get wiped out so easily.

My character just keeps growing in my head.
Now he's a disillusioned alcoholic templar knight with a badass mecha based on fast relentless attacks and evasion but with minimum regard for defence.

Now if I could just turn him into words...

Expressing my interest all over the place here. Will likely have my character be from Jupiter, unless someone else's planning to go for that.
