I'm trying to improve my drawing, that way I can write and make accurate depictions, but...well, I can't. Literally can't, that is. I'm terrible with symmetry, and thus my characters come out looking bad. If there were a guide to healing crappy symmetry, my life would be complete. That said, I'd still have to learn how to draw well, but symmetry's always been my biggest obstacle.
Do remember that in the natural world, though things may look symmetrical, they usually aren't. Try taking a picture of yourself and mirroring it vertically. It kinda makes sense but it does your head in. When making characters, try mixing things up left and right. Scar on right side. Mole on left. Tattoos, piercings, etc. It's okay to not make someone symmetrical.

But, it's no big deal you like your stuff to be symmetrical. It's aesthetically appealing but to an extend; you can only go so far before it looks boring.

It's not so much the symmetry of their features that I have trouble with so much as line symmetry. Simply put, one side of the face (the outline, eyes, and hair) won't look the same as the other one. I usually start with the left and then go right, and the right is generally where it looks worse. I'm thinking it may have something to do with how I hold writing utensils and how I write.

Hello everyone, this is an announcement regarding the RPOs. We have decided to extend the deadline for posts until Sunday the 25th. This gives everyone an additional two days to complete and post in all of your events. Good luck to everyone!

Yay! I was worried I wouldn't be able to get my last post in, now I have the weekend at least ^-^.

Just a suggestion but maybe next time the RPO should be spread over a longer period to give everyone more time. Events could be spread out so that each event has a week for entries, with short events like the "one line" running the whole time. This would also give people who are away, for a short time, chance to compete in an event.

I second this notion.

While we still got a lot of time for the RPOs, some people could have been away during the events and not have a chance to do all of their events. And if we have different sign up dates, it would be a little more complicated, but I think we can figure it out. And that would give people a chance to at least do one category (unless they are away for a whole month!)

Quick Question, you guys. I'm adding the ratings to the categories of roleplays on the wiki and am wondering how it should be phrased. Right now I have one that says "Rated M" as the category, but I also considered "Rated Mature", "M Rating", or "Mature Rating". Thoughts?

I've seen actual shirts where there's only one sleeve, and the other side is sleeveless.

Also, seeing as I have Heterochromia, it's a tad impossible for me to be symmetrical. I actually prefer asymmetry, I guess that's just my "weirdness" factor on the rise, as I probably would wear one-sleeve shirts if I ever found them.

Myeh.

I think "Rated M" seems like a fine format. Though it seems like most of the pages aren't being categorized.

@the warden- I agree. The RPOs were put together sort of at the last minute, but if we decide to bring them back next year, we will make the period for posting much longer.

Not sure actually, but it might be that while I love some things about the real pokémon games, I often find them boring and, uh, confined. Most journey RPs give you a lot more freedom while still being like playing a pokémon game. And I enjoy that, I guess.

I agree with that. In my case, it's been a while since I've been in love with a Pokemon game (GS, maybe Emerald), but since then I haven't had nearly as much fun with the games and usually had to make up new ways to make the game more fun. The problem, for me at least, is that the games relish too much in being an RPG, and a simple one at that, but what makes this a bad thing is that, because of this, it rakes its focus off of being a believable world where creatures much like animals exist. There's not much to do other than battle, prepare for battle, and a few minigames, and...I dunno. I guess its because of the whole "Beat gyms and thwart evil team" scenario that I'm falling out with the games, less formula would really breathe some life into the series. You'd just think that such an expansive world would be far more expansive and varied in activities than battles, a casino (maybe), and some sort of contest. This, then, spills into RPs, and thus it falls onto the GM to make the world seem more attractive, alive, and believable.

There are spots open in my new RP. Pokemon: Rise of the Titans.

This is a crossover rp between Pokemon/ Pokemon Conquest/ and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In the rp, you play as the child of one of the 14 gods/goddesses, to stop the Titans and send them back to Tartarus. So far four spots have been taken.

The Child of Poseidon, Apollo, Dionysus, and Aphrodite.

There are still ten spots open :)

Just an informative note to everyone that the RPOs are now officially over! Thank you to everyone who participated! Now, judging will commence, and when all of the categories have been judged, the winners will be announced at the end of the month.

We apologize if anything went wrong during the RPOs, or weren't to your liking. This was its first year, and therefore somewhat of a test-run, in which there are bound to be some problems and such. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed yourselves!

EDIT: Judges may now PM scores to myself. A note to them, however, that the events: Horror, Mystery/Suspense, Drama, and Comedy have been discontinued and do not need to be voted in because of lack of posts in them.

The RPO's was a bit too much for me anyway. I can get other emblems anyway. Next time, i better not start on the last minute, & get some help too.

This. I would try the RPOs again, but maybe in a much smaller dose than I attempted this time. I was not anticipating becoming as busy as I did this month, and the quality of the two things I actually posted ended up suffering for it.

I really couldn't have said it better myself :D though I'm ok with animals being non-existing, even though some things don't really add up if pokémon are the only "animals". Like the classic question of where the humans get their meat from. And if bacteria and microorganisms exist at all. But yeah. That's being picky xD

I really like journey RPs a bunch too, but usually for various reasons I can never devote myself to them so I end up never posting. It makes me feel super guilty. I really want to break this habit, and since this year my circumstances are different, I find myself able to roleplay more. For now I'm only going to stick to one because I don't want to overload myself. If I'm in too many, it feels like work and I don't want to do it.

That's unfortunately very common among RPers, especially with slow moving journey ones. If I'm only in one or two RPs, it's usually fine, but when I'm in many I tend to "forget" how to play the characters well in the slower ones :x
