Johto has a bunch of awesome looking gym leaders. Which gym leader had the coolest design/personality? :)

Jasmine - I like her hair and the dress she wears is pretty. It was so sweet of her to stay with Ampharos in the lighthouse till it got better.

Jasmine and Clair, I think their designs are elegant and complement their specialist types well. I also liked how they had subplots and interactions with the player outside of their gyms. I was surprised that Clair didn't give me the Rising Badge the first time I played.

Clair and Whitney are great, and I also think Morty looks cool. Jasmine is a pretty nice girl, I think she's my favorite.

Pryce seemed cool (no pun intended) and I would have liked to see him more outside of the gym, maybe with a role in the story similar to lance.

I always thought Morty was really cool. I like how he's deeply involved with the history of Ecruteak and he's got really cool Pokémon as well.

That's hard, they are all pretty memorable.

On the design aspect I think Falkner is underrated. I think he gets overlooked because he's the first route gym leader and not gonna be the strongest trainer, which he will be the first to tell you-- he's still got growing to do, praying for the day he can fill the shoes of the father he loves. Yet he's interesting to me nonetheless. I love the way his hair was designed, it's such a sharp cut full of sheen, it dangles over his eyes like some kind of bird feather. I've always been a sucker for characters like him, Valerie, Koga or Erika that maintain a style of dress that looks Asian. Falkner looks like he could be a swordsman's apprentice, and it makes sense. He and his Pokemon are meant to be nimble.

For personality my favorite is definitely Jasmine though Morty is a close second, love his knowing personality and magical gym layout. Jasmine I care about in that same way I do for Cynthia. Jasmine is kind and wise, yet has strength of personality like the steel element she works with. Despite how beautiful she is on the outside, that steel is there right underneath the velvet. I respect her for how she stood by Amphy, and demonstrated the larger role of the gym leader to protect the community. I think she is also the most competent opponent you face in Johto. I think she has it all.

Clair and Morty for sure. Seeing a super-cool female gym leader who trained dragons (which I was really passionate about growing up, LOL) was so important to me. Like, it was honestly and truly a gamechanger, and the fact that she was so hard for me to beat (I always picked Cyndaquil) just made it even better, because whoa, here was a super cool, usually-miffed-at-something, hardline gym leader who trained the coolest and most difficult type (to train and evolve) of all and also straight-up refused to even give you your badge. It was mindblowing for me. Pretty sure I would have counted her as my role model if anyone had asked me back then, haha.

Morty was kind of different. I was one of the legions with a crush on him, but this was also the first time the Ghost-type was a focused-on thing even though the Gastly line had existed in RGBY, too. I'm also a sucker for legends, especially in Johto, so I loved Ecruteak already, and the kinda-weird guy who's training to be able to see the legendary phoenix (which was also interesting to note, that a Ghost-type specialist wanted to be able to see a legendary that can revive the dead) was really interesting.

I would go with Jasmine. For some reason, I really like her dress in the games. She took care of her Ampharos. And I like her Pokemon Special manga counterpart, especially her battle with Brock at the start of the Gold/Silver run.

For me have Clair and Jasmine the best designs. But Jasmine is my favorite gym leader
because she is so nice and sweet because of the situation in the lighthouse!

I know lots of people have said this already, but my favorite Johto gym leader has to be Jasmine! The previous posts have pretty much covered as to why she's so amazing.

I'm really biased because I had a big fat crush on Jasmine as a kid and she's still my favorite gym leader to date. But just going on her design, I just like her simplicity. The cute white dress and the hair style (that I tried soooo hard to emulate as a kid with no success aha) off set the kind of Pokemon she uses, but reflect her personality. She's soft spoken and caring, but also firm and independent...aside from making a ten year old fetch Ampharos medicine, but you know. lol Game logic.

Jasmine is a sweetheart, but Morty and and Clair are more interesting in how deeply connected they are to their respective cities. Morty works hard to summon Ho-Oh (although he gives up on this a little easily), while Clair seems to be jealous of Lance and unable to gain her grandfather's approval, which is sad.
