    Kouki

Kouki wasn't sure what he expected when he started working here, but it seemed like music shops didn't do a lot of business. He doubted many people even knew what they sold here. His only "customer" was a girl who just wanted to try out the instruments, but she left after an hour without actually buying anything. He was staring off into space, dozing off behind his shades when his phone chirped at him. Mildly surprised, but grateful for the reprieve, he glanced around the store. Not seeing his boss anywhere, he whipped out his phone to check the message.

"I'm kinda hungry, you up for sushi?"

It was from Toshio. As far as friends go, Kouki didn't have very many, but Toshio was probably his best friend. Mostly because he was one of the only guys Kouki's age that really understood him. The two could spend an hour together in companionable silence, hardly saying a word, yet they could have an entire conversation in that time. Feeling a slight smile tug at his mouth, Kouki glanced at the clock before he replied.

"My lunch is in 5. I'll be at Endo's in 10."

He busied himself around the store for a minute or so before poking his head into his boss's office. The old man looked up from his paperwork, quirking an eyebrow at Kouki. Kouki tilted his head toward the clock, which made his boss grunt dismissively and shoo him away. Kouki bowed his head in acknowledgement, heading out the door. The music store was in a plaza across the street from Oshijiwa's, so it wasn't a long walk to the sushi restaurant. Kouki moved his headphones from his neck to his ears, plugging in his Zune and letting the music, an upbeat classical song, play. He appreciated the change in musical tone, a bounce in his step in time with the music as he crossed the street.

He arrived earlier than he said he would, leaning against the wall by the door. It was kind of a tradition they had, going back to their first meeting. Oh, sure, they'd seen each other in school before, being the same age, but Toshio had always had a lot of charisma, while Kouki tended to blend in with the crowd. The first time they'd really met had been during exams their first year. Between tests, Kouki had gone outside to relax, watching the clouds in peaceful silence. Toshio came out for apparently the same reason, leaning against a nearby railing and letting out a sigh. Kouki had agreed with a simple "Mm-hmm.", and they soon became chill bros.

So Kouki waited outside the restaurant for his friend to show up, bobbing his head to a club remix as he watched the world through his tinted lenses. He couldn't help but smile, feeling very relaxed at that moment.

Walking down the street her apartment was on somehow filled Eri with unease. More than usual, she felt like she was being watched, and judged by every passerby she awkwardly greeted. Thankfully the store was only a few blocks away, and she calmed herself by thinking she could always take a different way home if there was anyone she really couldn't stand to see again. A gentle sigh escaped her lips. She felt pathetic just thinking these things, but was it really that bad if it made her life just that little bit easier? It's not like she was inconveniencing anyone, right?

When she finally reached the convenience store, she took a deep breath before stepping inside. She was immediately greeted with a feigned-cheerful "Irasshaimase!", to which she customarily didn't respond. On the small speakers, the classic high-pitched, upbeat store jingle was playing on repeat. Most people might think it annoying, but Eri actually sort of liked it for the sense of familiarity... and she'd caught herself humming it when she left more than once before. ''Every day's great...''

Despite the small size of the store, they managed to pack it chock-full of appealing-looking items. Browsing through, Eri first found what she came for; a half loaf of bread that was supposedly 'long lasting'. Walking through the aisles though, she managed to pick up a fresh, large bottle of green tea, and a prepared meal of katsu curry. They were surprisingly cheap, obviously low effort, and for microwaved foods Eri certainly didn't think it tasted bad. Finally, she grabbed a rice ball for the road before heading to the counter.

Escaping from the cool airconditioned interior, Eri had convinced herself it'd be better to take the long way home. After all, it was such nice weather, and otherwise she'd just keep herself cooped up inside all day anyway... So she walked down the road closest to the river. The sound of her plastic bag was louder than that of the rushing water, but making an effort she could still hear it distinctly. Looking around, she made sure to keep a steady pace as she came by the most dangerous area; the riverside plaza was a place for people to gather, but as she anticipated it was quiet this time on a monday. Still she walked fast as she crossed, determined to not give anyone the time to call out to her. Relieved when she reached the street corner on the other end, she quickly turned, and almost bumped into a young man leaning against the wall next to the entrance of a sushi restaurant.

''Ah! I-I'm sorry, please excuse me...'' Eri nearly stumbled over her words as she made a small bow and hastily moved past him. She felt her cheeks go red with embarrassment, but a few steps further she realised something was off. An uneasy feeling of recognition grew inside her chest. Despite only catching such a short glimpse of his face, she had seen this person before. Her pace slowed until she stopped altogether... and briefly looked over her shoulder to make sure. Her heart nearly stopped when she noticed his eyes were still on her too however, and she took off on a light jog to reach the next corner.

      Uehara Naoki | Emperor

      Post 3: Sushi, Again???

His phone rang. Naoki checked it and, as expected, he saw that it was Toshio who texted.

"I'm heading over to sushi restaurant. Come there. And yeah! sushi again." Naoki read the text out loud and groaned. He just had sushi for lunch. Why couldn’t Toshio choose something else, like noodles? Naoki thought of not showing up for Toshio but he decided that his hunger was bigger than his annoyance for his friend. “All right then, I’ll be at Endo’s in a few.”

The sushi restaurant was just near Oshijiwa’s so Naoki decided to just leisurely walk towards his destination. Knowing Toshio, he could be a little late than usual. He got his headphones from his pocket and listened to some of novelty music. The wind was still blowing quite serenely and Naoki was enjoying every step towards Endo’s.

Images, however, started popping up in his mind. A windowless room. A woman. Several of his schoolmates. Then they were gone. Naoki stopped in mid-step, spooked at what he has seen in his mind. A vague scene started forming in his mind, as if his brain was trying to dig up some very deeply-buried memory. A dream. Naoki shook his head, trying to clear his mind and continued to go his way to Endo’s.

When he arrived there, he saw a black-haired guy he recognized from school. He forgot what his name was though. He also has his headphones up, with his head bobbing to the beat only he can hear. Naoki opened the door to the restaurant, took a quick look, trying to find Toshio. As expected, his friend was nowhere near the area. Naoki took up his phone and typed one word.

      Here.

      Katashi Kudo

The short angry man had just demanded to know who Katashi was and also asked about the cafe. Usually Katashi would be fine with introducing himself but he couldn’t quite get over the boy’s tone. He was quite agitated at the boy’s lack of manners and scrunched up his face in disgust.

“I’m Katashi Kudo, first year at Rakkoken.” he said, offering the boy a hand. “The food’s really good, although I only had dessert.” he smiled, thinking of the food. “If you don’t mind me asking, are you going just because you're hungry or are you going here specifically because of the butlers?” he asked bluntly. After a short time away from school his conversational skills had been starting to get a bit rusty. He had spent almost all his time practicing for the soccer tryouts and hadn’t talked to a single person his age until this morning. He tugged at his shirt collar as he felt his neck growing warm. He wasn’t sure why he was so curious. Perhaps he thought he could try to find out if the older grades were more accepting of this kind of thing than the other boys on his old soccer team. Either way, he had already asked. There was no point in freaking out before the boy answered him.

"Here for the food, I mean why were you?" He asked confused. But taking his attention away, his stomach growled a bit loudly. Shaking his head, he was just done with this conversation and didn't think twice about dragging it out further.

"Whatever. I'm going in." He said, finishing whatever brief interaction. Not rally caring what the taller blond thought about him in the moment, he walked around heading right into the building.

Pleasant... and also really uh. Hmm. There was a proper word for how fancy this place wanted to be compared to what it actually was. Oh. Disappointing! That's totally the right word for what he was seeing.

"Table for one. Yeah, one!" He said, glaring at the butler before him who was spiffed up in the uniform for the cafe. Not really the most appealing look that could be on the guy. Daiki would complain that there wasn't a single speck of pride in that kid's posture but it didn't matter. Food mattered more.

"Welcome to the Butler Cafe, Master."

"An actual sakura tree inside. Huh. Not sure how you all manage to keep it alive with that AC blasting ice into the air." Daiki noticed that there were fallen leaves on the ground. Honestly it was kinda bad since that Sakura tree could have germs or whatever else spread all over. "I want that table. It's far away from the leaves."

"Certainly Master. Right this way please."

Following the boy across the room Daiki sat down on a "fancy" chair that was actually uncomfortable for how soft it was trying to be. The table was clean... seemingly so. He wasn't sure when it was replaced or washed last but there weren't any specs of food or tea on it.

"Green tea. Ya got that?" He asked rhetorically.

"Of course master, I'll fetch a fresh pot. Here's the menu-"

"I'll have the special." Daiki interrupted. He knew that getting an order in now was going to cut down the time he had to spend in this cafe.

"Right away, Master." The waiter slipped away, leaving the short blond a moment alone.

He pulled out his phone, spending the remainder of his waiting time texting.

It soon became night time in the city of Osaka, where most have already fallen asleep, except a few particular shops open for adults. Eventually your character falls into a deep sleep for the night, until they came across a strange dream...

        Spoiler:
When your character becomes awake, they find them self upon a strange, spacious room. Overhead was a glass chandelier, with a balcony that's surrounded by wooden rails. All around the walls were strange paintings of many different kinds of people, and other... strange beings like strange shaped wolves and lions. This place is almost like... a room in a mansion.

As your character comes around, they notice they're not alone. Many other characters have joined you, just as groggy and confused as you are. You might notice that these characters look familiar... in fact, its the same ones you might know of in the previous dream, or perhaps from Osaka somewhere. Maybe they all are strangers to your character. Whichever the case may be, you then notice that you're seated on a chair, that's accompanied by a large dining table. The table is so large that all of you managed to take up every seat all around it. The decoration consists of a white table cloth spread all around for the table, with candles lit throughout each third of the length.

All around the room are different doors - many, many doors. By your estimate, there is as many doors as the number of people inside this space. However, you might find out that none will open for you. Yet. Soon, one particular door almost sat in the front of the hall begins to open. It was a woman.

A woman appears to address you all. She's dressed as though she's a maid - having a blue blouse with white lining, as well as white long dress socks with blue dress shoes. Most distinguishing trait of all was her silver hair, and her golden yellow eyes. Not to mention, cat ear accessories. She looked upon the teenagers with her seemingly cold eyes. Shortly after, she gave a gentle bow of introduction.

"Welcome... to the Velvet Room. We meet again."

This is a scene where your characters enter the Velvet Room for the first time. How does your character react in the dream, seeing each other together again (or the first time)? And that woman... just who is she?

Questions are sure to have answers. Dive in to find out.

        Izumi Takino
17 Years Old | Second Year | XI. Strength

        Another Night, Another Dream

Izumi groaned as she slowly began to come to. Her head hurt a bit, but aside from that she could tell that she was mostly okay. Sitting up slowly, the girl opened her eyes to reveal that she was no longer back at home, safely tucked away in her bed for the evening. Rather, Izumi quickly noticed that she was in some place that almost resembled a mansion of sorts. That wasn't all, either. As the girl began to take in her sights, she realized that she wasn't alone in this place either. Others were gathered in this entry hall of sorts as well...

"I gotta stop drinking the protein shake before bed... Wait... Matsusheta-san... Oshijama-san... What are you..." Izumi began, her question pausing as a voice quickly caught her attention. Slowly, her eyes searched the room until they came to meet those of a particular, maid uniform-clad woman with yellow eyes. "Again...? Is this actually happening again?"

After her meeting with Yuuki and Tatsuo, Izumi knew that the first dream must have had some meaning behind it. The last thing that she expected was that she was going to find herself reliving this same sort of dream again. Sure, there were a few differences. Namely, the location that she and these other people were gathered was quite different. Something about it was off... She felt both a mixture of comfort and unease all at once, as if it was a place that she was never actually meant to go to.

Slowly climbing to her feet, Izumi's eyes narrowed at the woman before her. "Alright... Once was weird enough... And this place, I can tell it ain't exactly normal... So I'll bite. What is... a Velvet Room? And why do you keep callin' us like this? It's kinda creepy, ya know?"

          Kagawa, Daiki

          M | 18 | 3rd Year | Class A

          XV The Devil

Blue walls and dark decor, fancy like The Blossom's Rest. But instead of light and pink, the atmosphere was dominated by dark and azure colors. This would make a much better place for a cafe... that was at least the short blond's immediate thought once he gaining consciousness. He breathed in slowly, coming to understand the transition from sleep to awareness of the spacious room. It was as if he'd always been sitting there, napping in place. He wasn't uncomfortable but his seat wasn't meant for napping.

Chandeliers and candles were a simple illumination that made it harder for his eyes to scan the room. But a couple seconds was all that was needed to adjust to the lighting. He noticed the upper balcony while gazing into the fixtures hanging overhead. Then the wooden railing lead his eye down towards the walls where he saw the paintings of deformed animals, depicted based on a verbal description instead of by seeing it in real life.

Before him the table draped in a long white cloth for a long table which a lot of other people sat around. He wasn't sure why he didn't notice them when he awoke but now he couldn't look away from their faces. This dream was like one before but his brain wasn't making the connection. The former expereince was sitting in the back of his head until it was pulled forward by seeing Katashi Kudo.

"You..." He said, more like a question then statement. He was going to speak up and ask why they were there in the mansion but instead he was concerned about leaving. That's when Daiki realized the room had an enormous number of doors all around. One opened up, revealing a maid in the same blue as the room. Silver hair and golden eyes made her all the more mysterious but the short blond was sure that they were part of an outfit just as those cat ears on her head were.

"What's the Velvet room?" Daiki asked, spitting out words despite the cloud in his brain stirring panic into his veins. He wanted out more than he wanted answers. "Why are am I here?" He barked out.

            Kiro Irakuza ~ Hunger XI-2

Purple. A different purple. Darker, less saturated. Kiro came to amongst this purple. Confused that there was lighting past his eylids, he opened his eyes, rose to his feet, and looked around. A nobleman's dining room is the conclusion he came to. Large table, chandelier, many chairs, overhead balcony, even paintings to top it all off. Aside from the unusual paintings, the only thing that fought his assumption were the doors. Contrary to last night, there were many as opposed to none. Around seventeen or so. A groan brought his eyes to a familiar orange haired girl. Izumi... The memories came easy, effortless to relive. He slowly turned, seeing the others. Same people. Same setup... The creaking of an opening door followed by light footsteps sent his eyes towards the front of the room. Same woman. Having already grasped the situation, Kiro remained calm as she spoke, curious to see if this dream would turn out anything like the last.

The Velvet Room. He called the memory of his previous time here to him. A place that 'exists between dream and reality, mind and matter.' This woman, a 'resident of this place, serving her master.' "Juliette," Others began to speak, and he did as well, looking for the answers to questions left previously unanswered, "If you and your master are 'simply bored,' then why must we be the ones to relieve you of it? And under what circumstances are we 'fated to be here?'"

              Kazue Tamaka
              Female//16//The Tower

              Return to the Blues

Kazue awoke to a visual barrage of blue, and instantly regretted not dying in her sleep. Sure enough, the crowd of strange people were gathered around once more, victims of the strange maid. Surely this was a dream this time around, no other way she would be caught and dragged to this strange room twice, she hoped. Not to mention she had no idea how she got out last time if it wasn't a dream.

Hopefully someone didn't lose their minds this time.

"Okay," Kazue said, finally addressing her captor, "I don't like repeating what the others are asking, but why the psyduck are we here again? We don't want to play couple for your entertainment. Not to mention that I'd like to return to my pleasant nights of dreamless sleep."

Maybe it was time to consider religion, and this woman may literally be the devil? Either way, she could already see Morikawa's smug face if she ever managed to get details on these dreams.

              Hideki Imukani(Miyazawa)

First Night at the Velvet Manor
"Hey, I work as hard as anyone else here! But my first year at Rakkoken High is starting in a week. I know I'm gonna be cutting back on my hours here, but you can't cut my pay! I'll lost my apartment!" Hideki shouted at the short, beautiful young crimson-haired woman in Blossom's Rest's kitchen. Even as she furiously clooked the various orders still coming in, she never once considered taking off her pink kimono or her wooden sandals, and neither seemed to hamper her grace in the slighest.

"Get a smaller apartment then, you lazy bum!" She retorted gracefully.

"Psyduck off, you midget hag!" Hideki yelled back with little to no grace just before a still-sizzling frying pan was thrown - gracefully, I might add - so hard that it slammed into the wall inches from Hideki's face and actually cracked the wall tile it struck. "Tone it down a notch you crazy bi-whoah!" Hideki gasped and ducked as the very same egg the projectile pan had been frying shot onto the wall behind where his face had just been...somehow arriving after the pan. "How did you eve-"

"Get out before I boil you in a big vat of tea to make it taste richer!" More culinary munitions continued to fly at Hideki as he desperately dodged and dashed for the kitchen's back door to escape into the alley behind Blossom's Rest. Just as he was about to reach safety yet more unbearably harsh words were thrown at him - words from which he may never recover. "Make sure you stay safe and make it back here on time tomorrow or I will skin you! You're our best waiter and I need you and don't let me down because I love you like the lazy little mukbird nephew my rattata sister won't give me!"

Her words froze him in place between death and freedom, the perfect delay to allow a wooden ladle to smack him in the back of the head. Clearly, she'd been merciful if he was still conscious. "OW! Dear Kami FINE I'LL SEE YOU TOMORROW!...I love you too, Oba-chan." The resolution may have been affectionate, but that didn't mean Hideki would be stupid enough to linger, he sprinted straight out the door and didn't slow down till he got home, tossed his work bag onto his couch and dived face-first into bed.

Claustrophobia...completely immobilized, trapped, desperation but...wait, a breeze? Not Claustrophobia, but still trapped. Why? Panic growing. Light finally shining down around him. Hideki pushed one last time, harder than all the others and heard a slight scraping sound. At that moment the light grew bright enough to reveal his predicament. "A rock?!" Yes. A rock. A rock kidnapped Hideki and - no, no wait, the rock is just what he's been tied to, by chains no less. Massive chains were pinning Hideki to a large rock at the top of a peerless mountain, chains big enough to be the leash of Cerberus.

"Close, but no cigar." Hideki heard echoing around him in his own voice? "That's right, I'm you." This time the voice had a clear place of origin, in front of Hideki was his doppleganger. Or something like it. What sat on the edge of the mountain's peak was Hideki if he was draped in the darkness of a summer solstice eclipse, and with glowing amber irises. The fake Hideki held one end of the chains imprisoning the real Hideki, watching him struggle with the smuggest grin imaginable.

"Bullmuk you're me!" Hideki retorted. "I'd never chain myself down away from everything, all by myself. You can't live like that and keep your sanity."

"Oh but that's exactly what you're doing, you sweet, ignorant boy." The fake answered, a strange distortion to his voice. "You're right about the second part though! Which is exactly why we're here, somewhere in there you know how much of an idiot you're being. Think about it just a bit, I thought you were supposed to do a lot of thinking?"

Before Hideki could argue any further his eyes shot open to show him...nothing...because he was still face-down in his bed. He rolled over, groaned and closed his eyes again without any further thought.

Hideki's eyes fluttered open, vision blurry, but adjusting quickly thanks to the gentle, weak light filtering into the room from...where exactly? He continued to blink for a few more seconds as the vague shapes and silhouettes gathered around him finally manifested into...

"Oh for psyduck's sa - again?" The already annoyed young man muttered as he looked around at all the teenagers gathered in the room. All the same people from before, even that mad dog guy, as well as Katashi and Izumi. Even the miad was the same...though her clothes were new. And really cute. That outfit would look great on an idol, actually. I wonder if she can sing? Thinking about something he loved helped to him relax, though he did have to check his chair for chains first. By the time Hideki broke free from his reverie, the maid's speech was done and several other people had already responded to her. He hadn't really paid attention to what she said, but as his gaze roamed over all the perplexed faces of his repeated dream-sharers, a few questions jumped out of his mouth faster than he could process the thoughts behind them.

"Just exactly what connection do we all share? What exactly is coming our way that binds us all together and brings a bunch of teenagers to the attention of some sort of being that's capable of dragging a bunch of people to the same dream? And if you're merely a servant, what sort of being is your master?"

              Kammi Akiyama

"This is the start of something. I just have a feeling."

              March, 25th | 17 | Year Two | The Empress
              Faodail - Wren

In the early afternoon, the park at the edge of Osaka was a fairly peaceful place. Kammi Akiyama awaited her friends there, happy to take the time to enjoy the good weather and beautiful scenery. As of next week, Rakkoken High would once again open its doors to students, calling the vacation between semesters to a close. It was time for Kammi and her friends to have just a bit more fun, or at least get prepared together, before school actually started. Of course, that depended entirely on when they would actually show up.

Hisako and Mihoko were good friends, loyal and trustworthy. Punctual, on the other hand, was not something Kammi would use to describe the pair. Regardless, their absence gave Kammi the time to think about the dream she had only the previous night.

It had been odd, after all. It had been a strange, classroom type of setting with several teenagers sitting behind each of the desks. She had recognized a few of the people, like Aiko and Madison Page, as well as a few upperclassmen. The issue about the dream was that none of the people really seemed to have any major connections between them. Some of them were quieter, and some were a bit more… Outspoken. The group’s strange host had called them “Lost Children”, but hadn’t given much information to what that meant. She had seemingly woken up at the most inopportune time, but she remembered the dream so much more clearly than others she had in the past. Why were there some people she knew, and others that she didn’t? What connected them aside from their school?

“Kammi!” came a yell from towards the entrance of the park, shaking the second-year from her thoughts. She looked up to see Mihoko and Hisako there, the latter’s hand raised in a wave as if to get her attention. Kammi got up with a smile. The dream was odd, but now wasn’t the time to worry about it. She had friends to attend to.

              Later, that night...

Kammi woke up slowly, a yawn coming from her mouth as she looked around the room. She was there again. A different place, yes, but she was with the same people from the dream the night before. And this? It had to be another dream or… Something. Kammi wasn’t a stupid girl, but this dream wasn’t normal. It was weird to consider it anything but a dream, but here was something different about it. An ominous air surrounded the people sitting at the dining table, not that it seemed to come from them.

She was ready to spit out some sort of curse, but refrained when one of the many doors opened to reveal a maid… Or someone who appeared to be one. With her introduction, the group learned where they were. Well, they knew what it was called.

The others in the room immediately began to get fussy. They asked the same questions as she would, and some even asked at about the same volume had she not taken a second to think about the situation. It looked as if only one of the others had gotten out of their seat at this point, but that likely meant no one had tried any of the doors around them. For a moment, she was tempted to at least see where they lead, but if this person had brought them there for a reason, there was no guarantee that they would be allowed to leave.

“Juliette,” Kammi said aloud, calling the maid by the name she had given everyone the night before. Every situation required some sort of etiquette and the outright demands that the other teenagers had questioned the maid with likely were not ones that matched the situation. From experience, Kammi knew demands were not always met with the best of responses. Sure, they are all in this Velvet Room against their will, but not knowing who this woman was or what she wanted meant that they had no idea what could get them all killed.

Standing up from her chair, she looked the maid in her yellow eyes as if to hold her ground. Calm politeness was something she needed to show, but that didn’t mean she could put her tail between her legs either. “Can you cut to the chase, please?” She didn’t mean for the words to come out as offensively as they did, but the only other ways to put it were much wordier. “You’ve told us last night that this is a world in between, but not what that means or why being bored was enough for you to take us here. The sooner we get the chance to know these things, the more willing to work with you we will be.”

She spoke for the entire group in the last sentence, despite the unlikeliness that people wanted to be spoken for. Hopefully, this wouldn’t cause any sort of tension with the others, but she hoped that the woman would now be a bit more helpful with the words she used.

              Toshio Miyazaki

              Arcana: Fortune

Kouki....A smile lit Toshio's face.Toshio was very close to all of his friends and considered them all as his family. But Kouki was one of the top in that category...he was his best friend. He was his friend from the very start. Naoki was different of course--- Toshio wasn't sure what to call their bond but it was something stronger than Diamond. Either way, they were the closest persons he had at this school.

Buzzing sound disturbed his train of thought again. It was a message from Naoki.....Here. Naoki arrived faster than he expected.

              Almost there--he texted back.

He arrived in front of restaurant and saw Kouki leaning against wall and Naoki impatiently waiting for him. "Yo! Let's go." he greeted them cheerfully. Both of them were looking strangely toward him.

Oh! I totally forgot that Kouki and Naoki don't know each other....

"Well! This is Naoki and this is Kouki....
He introduced them to each other while walking in restaurant. "You guys eat, I need to talk to old man." After that Toshio pretty much his spent time dealing with old man.

              xxXxx

A soft groan escaped Toshio's lips as he slowly opened his eyes. He raised his head off of the table and winced, placing his hand to support his neck as he continued to readjust himself. His other hand rubs at his sleep encrusted eyes and he slouches against the chair he was sitting in. After rubbing his eyes, he looked around and saw those familiar people again. He remembered eating at restaurant with Kouki and Naoki, running a errand for old man, returning at his apartment late night and letting his fatigue drag him into darkness of sweet sweet sleep.

But I'm here again ahh.....he sighed while spotting Kouki who was two chair away on his right side. He smiled while nodding toward him. Last time he slept through halfway so he didn't know much about what happend.

This woman....just what she is? Someone who can summon people to the place they want while they're asleep.....that's not possible for a human. Just what the hell she is? He sighed while trying to think of answer to his questions. Everyone started questioning maid. He can clearly see everyone was getting frustrated with each passing moment. It was getting a little too noisy here.

He turned around on his side and looked toward kouki catching his eyes as he motioned to one of the door. He knows that Kouki will get what he is trying to say. While he was waiting for him to answer he started searching for Noaki.

              Naoki was here last time....right?

                2. What Night Reveals
                Monday, 25/4/20XX

                -----
A slab of moonlight managed to cut the corner of the alley, but it barely reached two steps before it met a hard-lined end to the overwhelming shadows. It was the dead of night and the streets nearby were silent, save for a soft sound of shuffling somewhere in the black side alley. Gingerly stepping into the light, what appeared to be a young woman in a dark yukata held a swollen mound beneath it, cupping it to her stomach in her broad hands. Flowing blonde hair took on a silver-lined tinge in the moonlight before shining nearly golden under the streetlamps. As she walked the street alone, she glanced at the reflection of herself in a blind-drawn window of a closed corner store. Hair spilled down to her shoulders and over the nearly feminine yet twisted painted look over her face. Her makeup took on the look of a monstrous cat, yet the blush, shadow, lipstick, and contour favored a woman’s face and complimented her strong chin. As she rounded the corner in her painted geta sandals, the sound of wood against concrete followed her into the towering building before her.

                -----
During every climb of every stair past the dimly lit and vacant lobby, she thought to herself as she held her pregnant load. She did not assume this outfit when the day began. When she left the house, she was a young man, with hair bound tightly behind his head, his change of clothes and makeup underneath his cold lunch, and his dark eyes focused on the screen of his cell phone. He was in a hurry to visit a girl in his grade at the fair downtown. He liked her company as she seemed infatuated by him. She was so soft-spoken yet eager to share her time with a guy she admired. He gave her attention so that he could receive that attention back, and it felt like bonding to him as they walked around the fairgrounds, spending spare change on catching goldfish and fishing for water balloons.

                -----
There was the sound of a click as the key fob was recognized by the receiver beside room 406. The female impersonator slipped his hand into the breast of his gown, dropping the apartment key into his undershirt as he quietly and cautiously crept in. The only light was the light from the hallway that spilled into the dark. Closing the door behind him and being sure to make no sound, he slipped off his sandals, picked them up, and slinked with bare feet through the spacious apartment to his room. As he closed the sliding door behind him, he opened up the obi sash that tied around his waist, and the large lump that hung from his stomach delivered onto the tatami bed. The backpack hit the sheets, as did his key fob and a folding fan. Blinking an overwhelming sense of tiredness from his eyes now that his body relaxed in a true safe haven, he plucked his cell phone from a pocket in the backpack and dragged himself over to his private bathroom to undress.

                -----
As the water ran and the sink filled with muddled streaks of color pooling brown, he heard a vibration against the counter. It rang twice more until he was able to wipe the soaked and caking muck from his eyes and rinse his hand of his makeup, He picked up his cell. Unlocking his phone to read his messages, he saw that he had missed four texts.

                -----
The first three were the most recent, from a contact whose name only appeared as a spider emoji:
⌜Thanks for calming Jakku down. Peppo was upset but it wasn’t her fault. ⌟
⌜Hurting that piece of muk for what he did to her felt good. He deserved it.⌟
⌜Seeing you like that was really hot. ⌟
                -----
The last text was from a contact named Midori:
⌜Thanks for all the fun at the festival today. Before I messed it up. I hope my anxiety didn’t make me a burden by the end. I just wanted to leave then because all I could think about was him being there and finding me. I promise to make it up to you tomorrow. Don't text back.⌟
                -----
Setting the phone back down, he finished washing up before slipping out of his yukata. He kept on his into a form-fitting A-shirt and put on some loose monpei bottoms. Taking his phone with him and setting its alarm app for early tomorrow, he shuffled over into his bed and laid there, replaying his day in his head. As he shut his eyes and his mind drifted, time was lost.

                * * *

                -----
He jolted awake as he felt the sensation of plummeting take over his body for a split second. Sitting upright with his hands gripping armrests, his eyes had to adjust to the dim light, only to find that he was in an immaculate dining room from a place his mind couldn’t remember. He sat there frozen in astonishment for a moment, eyes widened with lips pressed thin. But just as quickly to his own reaction, he lapsed back into a deceitfully stoic look the second he saw he was not alone.

                -----
Silent, he let a familiar group of others speak. Their words went in one ear and out the other, and all he gleaned were impressions of emotions out of their exchanges as his nails began to slowly claw at the underside of the armrest. He sat there unwittingly in his tank top, his toned muscles noticeably flexed with tension as his untied hair spilled down to his shoulders. All he could think about was if he had washed his face, but his fear and growing anger kept him from touching his bare cheek.

                Uehara Naoki | Emperor

Post 4: Toshio is a Scumbag. Also, dream?

”Yo! Let’s go!” Naoki heard Toshio’s voice and looked up from his phone. He was beckoning to him and the other guy with the headphones on. “Well, this is Naoki and this is Kouki…” Toshio said as the three of them entered the sushi bar. “You guys eat, I need to talk to the old man.” Toshio said and went directly to the back of the bar.

“What the-?” Naoki uttered after Toshio. What the hell does he think in leaving me here with a stranger? He looked at Kouki who looked equally shocked by what Toshio did. “Uhm yeah hi. You know what. I’m not really a big fan of human interaction and I just had sushi for lunch, so I guess I’ll hop off now then.” Naoki smiled and went back outside. “Nice meeting you though,” he said as he ran outside the sushi restaurant. He made a mental note to confront Toshio about it.

He just decided to head back home, tired from all the sleeping he did near the river. He murmured a grunt of recognition towards his father as he arrived and headed straight to his room. He fell down on his bed, the softness enticing him to close his eyes. Yeah, I figured there wouldn’t be too much to do now. Naoki slept again. The clock read 6 PM.

He woke to the sound of tinkling glass. Naoki opened his eyes, all blurred up from his sleep. The first thing he saw was a familiar stranger sitting across him. The face looked familiar and Naoki thought that she might be from school but Naoki couldn’t be perfectly sure. He whipped his head from side to side and saw Toshio. He apparently have not seen him yet. Just then a door slams.

“Welcome… to the Velvet Room. We meet again.” Naoki saw the woman appear from one of the many doors in the room. She was wearing a maid blouse. Nothing about her screams familiar for Naoki. All the other people from the room started asking questions and it’s a good response. In a strange place, you better remove that air of strangeness.

Naoki decided to stay silent for the meantime. All relevant questions have been asked. He can’t handle new people now, more than ever. He raised his eyebrows, calling out Toshio’s attention.

                Hey scumbag, look at me.

                  < KOZUME HIROKI >
                  arcana: STAR / age: 17 / year: 2

                  > DAYTIME <

The cherry blossom trees are beautiful. His gold eyes gazed at the pink petals as they flow to the ground, flying high fleetingly before they land where the wind takes them. The next term is going to start soon, he’s an second year now. Surprisingly. Soon, high school will start again. Soon, he'd flounder in his grades, left behind by those who scored higher than C's. Then what else? Socialize; one of his only strengths. But of course, she was just as good as he is. Even better (or worse): She is always surrounded by people, her aura, her smile, they will flock to her because she's a mary-sue star.

He has to try again. (And again, and again.) Maybe this time, fate will turn around. His efforts will reward him, in the end because isn’t that what the saying goes? ‘Work hard and be rewarded’. (And again, he’ll fail. And again, she’ll succeed.)

How many times has he been telling himself it’ll be fine? [i]There’s still hope[i], a desperate part of him keeps saying. She’d support him, much like the other times. With a beautiful, warming smile, she’ll say comforting, encouraging words to him and he’d feel bolstered and pumped up until reality shattered his views.

(Vaguely, he recalls a weird dream but he can’t seem to remember everything else. A woman appeared her eyes brighter than his and more eerie. The woman asks something, he said something back. There were people too, far away and out of reach.

                  It all blurred out.

                  It was a bizarre dream.)

“Oh hey, it’s Hiroki!” A male voice exclaims, dragging him away from his cloudy thoughts. An arm slips around his shoulders as he snaps out of his spunk, blinking at the persona space invader.

                  “Eh? Shouichi!”

It’s his classmate from another class, a boy who became his friend since months ago. The guy was more insistent than him, calling him by his first name and telling to do the same.

“Hi, what’s up? You look like you’re in deep thought,” Shouichi says, eyeing him. “You alright?”

Hiroki blinked again then laughed, shaking his head. “Nah,” he denied. “The cherry blossoms hypnotized me so that’s why I was deep in thought.” Hiroki explained, he did not want to confess he’s been thinking of positive thoughts to combat the looming negativity.

Shouichi may be his friend; he is not a best friend nor is he someone he’s close to. How can he spill his worries when he can’t even do that to his family? To her?

“Thought so, you weren’t acting like yourself back then,” Shouichi says, patting the dark-haired teen’s back once he removed his arm. “I was worried for a second you were lost! You’re always so cheerful it’s hard seeing you looking like that, even with your grades it doesn’t stop you from smiling a lot.”

A part of him – a deep, deep part – wants to say he’s an idiot. Being cheerful, acting cheerful, does that mean he has no concerns, that he’s taking life so carelessly? Hiroki knows his friend doesn’t mean anything by it. It’s just a silly voice trying to push him down.

“No way!” He remarks, smiling to make a point. “I’d never stop being myself! I’ll stay happy like this forever!” Even though I want to, I want to so bad. “It’s not healthy being sad all the time.” It’s not healthy being happy all the time either.

Shouichi grinned, “Good! We need your daily dose of energy or Rakkoken High will fall into darkness!”

“Like that will happen!” Hiroki laughed.

In the short distance, someone calls for Shouichi. “Oh right, forgot I’m with my other friends,” he says, looking back to where the caller is then faced Hiroki. “I have to go, see you later!” With a jovial pat on the back, he dashes away, leaving the gold eyed male with a hasty goodbye.

“See you,” Hiroki whispers in the wind.

With a last glance at the cherry blossom trees, he walked away and left his dark thoughts behind. It’d be okay, there still hope.

                  > NIGHT TIME <

“Are you excited, Hiroki?” Hitomi questions, her lips forming her usual gentle smile. “New semester is starting today; you’ll be in second year!” she gushes as if it’s great news. “I’m sure you’ll enjoy your second year, soon you’ll be in third year. You’re growing up.” She looks sad, like she can’t bear the thought of him growing up.

“Don’t worry, big sis,” Hiroki reassured, grinning brightly at her to ease her worries. Already she’s acting like his mother. (But that’s how she’s usually is when it comes to him.) “I’m a big boy, I can take care of myself. You should go back to sleep, you’ll need to wake up early,” he says then feigns a yawn. “I’m pretty tired myself so I’ll be in my room sleeping. G’night.” With that, he escapes to prolong the conversation that will, without a doubt, turn to his grades and lack of effort.

(It’s not the lack of effort. He’s trying so hard.)

He flopped into his bed, face hitting the pillow. He stayed there until he fell asleep. Tomorrow, it’ll be like nothing happened. He’d still be the same happy kid, and he’d lie to himself and keep on saying it’ll be fine as the new term loomed closer and closer.

But then he dreams of something else. Eyelids fluttering open, he blinked and looked around. Where am I? He’s in a large room, an odd room and what’s even odder is there are people with him. He’s not alone. Some of them looks to be familiar, but where has he seen them…?

Oh. Right. At school, of course!

An woman appears, dressed in a cute maid outfit. Her eerie eyes had him remembering the dream before. The bizarre dream he faintly recalls. “Eh? Is this a play? Are we playing roles?” Hiroki asks, being half-serious, half-fooling. “It feels like we’re in a supernatural show. Cool!” The dark violate-haired teenager says cheerfully and lightly.

In all honesty, he’s nervous and unnerved at the mood swirling around the big mansion-like room. What are the doors for? Exits? Do they lead to different hallways? Is this another dream? It sure looks like it, otherwise this is real as it gets and isn’t disturbing if it’s real? How easy they took them away from their homes and dumped them here without managing to disturb them?

What’s going on? Why is he here too?

                  Male | 18 | 3rd Year | The Hierophant

Tuesday, March 26th | The Velvet Room | 1:45 AM

It was early in the AM when Tatsuo went to sleep. He had been thinking about the dream non-stop. The girls he had met, they had shared that experience, had the others done so as well? He recognized some, others were new to him, but all were present. All had met that woman Juliette, all of them surely remembered. What could he do about that, however? As he settled into bed and rested his head on his pillow, his eyes began to droop closed. What would happen in the coming days and nights? What was this destiny that the mysterious woman spoke of?

                  CRACK!

Tatsuo nearly leaped from his bed at the sudden noise resounding around him. Large cracks were drilling through his walls at an alarming rate and the room took on an unnatural sheen as if coated with glass in an instant. "W-what?!" He attempted to stand up and out of his bed, only to find himself fully dressed, shoes and all when he hadn't been previously. In his confusion he failed to notice the surface of the floor take on a sleek and slippery texture. He promptly slipped, falling hard on his back with a loud cry of pain, followed by cracks growing along the entire surface of his room, blending together, making it hard to tell the floor from the walls from the roof.

In a panic he quickly attempted to stand, not thinking of the results of his swift actions on such an unsteady surface... and before he could even fully comprehend what was going on the entire room shattered around him and he fell into a void of black. The darkness was permeated only by blue flames as he seemed to sink further and further into a never ending void. What was going on? Where was he? How was he falling? How was any of this possible? Was this another dream?

He attempted to turn mid fall, gaze back up and see if the broken room still sat in the space behind him. His gaze widened in terror as he saw something different chasing him through the dark. Reaching out to run him through, he saw a sleek and modernized, artistic design of a Roman Centurion, upon it's back was a massive lion headed shield... and in his grip was a blade that seemed to be crafted of starlight. The strange figure grew closer and closer, Tatsuo felt the sweat drip down his brow and his glasses fall off, flying into the void behind him as he continued to fall and panic gripped his heart. He reached out desperately into the shadows, praying that he might find something to help, something to protect himself.

He felt the grip of a familiar weapon.

He pulled out the small revolver from the shadows, his father's gun he had been forbidden from holding, a memento of a life Akira had left behind. How was it that this weapon held so far from his grasp appeared now in his time of need? There was no time to question it now! He took aim, gripped the trigger, the barrel fell upon the head of the falling soldier, he had no time to waste, he had to do this now! He squeezed his finger inwards and the recoil increased his velocity.

A sickening metallic shatter and the cracking sound of a bullet shattering bone rang out through the emptiness. All went suddenly quiet as the figure whom had been reaching for him desperately went limp and simply fell above Tatsuo. He stared in shock and fear as the painfully defined hole in the pursuers metal helmet emitted small cracks, the sleek surface bending and breaking under the newfound pressure.

It broke away... and Tatsuo's froze in petrified fear and terror.

Beneath the helmet was the pale, motionless head of his own body.

His scream was cut off by the sudden impact of a floor beneath him and everything went dark.

                  ---

Tatsuo awoke with a start, a cold sweat running down his back, a piercing pain perforating his forehead and beyond. What the hell was going on? The room he was sat in was lavish and laced in beautiful shades of indigo and azure. It calmed his very being to be here and the aura of the very building itself seemed to radiate a soft and relaxing radiance. As the pain in his head eased, he took the time to peer around the table to see his suspicions confirmed.

The others from the dream before were here and aware, questioning... Juliette. So tonight would it all be revealed? He heard vague whispers amidst the others, he had woken up a little late but it didn't take long to learn the name of this shared dreamscape, this place where the conscious minds of he and the others were gathered for the musings of Juliette. This was "The Velvet Room".

His eyes traced over the other "guests" present. His glasses had found their way back to his face somehow, though the gun had vanished from his grasp. Uehara-san, Imukani-san, Miyazaki-san... yes, all those from the first dream were present here as well. With a sudden realization he actively searched the room for two individuals... and sure enough there were the girls he had met in the real world the day before. "Takino-san? Matsusheta-san? Then this truly is a continuation... from before..." His voice trailed off into a mutter.

He knew that no amount of his speculation could explain this now, he was wise enough to know when his own knowledge and input were insufficient. So now, he would wait. His gaze turned expectantly to Juliette, no longer aggressively questioning or making an effort to silence the others... for now, he would wait for the woman in purple to give her answers and explanations, as she had done the night before.

Her eyes snapped open for the second time today. Oh yeah, that’s right...after she came back from the store, Yuuki just popped a piece of that gum Tatsuo gave to her and just flopped on her bed and went to sleep. That entire conversation made her feel fatigued...trying to process it all led to her brain needing a shut-down. She just slowly sighed. “Mmm….I’m hungry, now….” She did buy those chips….did she? Wait, did she left them there?! “...Oh, for the love of God…” She goes straight towards her brown table and picks up the black cell phone that was on the table. She does know the phone number to a good fried chicken restaurant…

“I hope they can just send it here….I rather not go there and pick it up….” Considering her luck, that’s probably going to be the case.

It took way too long for her to come back from that chicken place. First off, she had to deal with an unexpectedly long line before she could get her food. Secondly, she was going on the bus, due to the restaurant being in a location that would take longer to walk to. On her trip to the place, her seat was seemingly wet from a drink or something, leading to her legs getting a bit wet and sticky (remember, she’s wearing a skirt). On her trip back home, not only did the bus drive through a puddle that was near enough to splash her when she was going on it, the bus was filled up and the only seat she was able to find was just as wet and sticky like the last one. She had to take a long bath, of course.

There was a third reason, however. She decided to stop and buy a scented candle. This candle was supposed to smell like one of those rainbow-colored candies that were usually in a small bag. There were some matches inside the kitchen, so she immediately went and took one of those out. She lit it up and went to her room. There, in the middle of the small table was the ‘candy candle’, in all of its fruity red glory. She slowly walks towards it and lit it up.

After putting on her four-leaf clover patterned pajamas, she picked up the pillow on her bed and put it on the floor next to the table, and sat on it. She then closed her eyes, put her hands together, and prayed. “Oh gods, oh gods...I pray to every single one of you tonight...religion does not matter to me, so I pray to every single one of you all...I thank you all for giving me life, food, water, and anything else I can possibly think of…” Her eyes were now half-opened, as she looked at the flaming red-orange light that has illuminated her room, while the scent of a lovely strawberry filled up her nose.

“Dear gods, I believed that the events that have transpired within the time-frame of this single day are the start of something big…Something that might break your holy rules...I have met two individuals today...But I have also met them once in a dream. I believe this shall not be the end of it...I know we will meet each other again very soon…” <...Wait.> She suddenly blinks three times. She’s...not hallucinating, right? She did see that...right? <What was that? I swear, there was an animal on top of my table…>

“...I’m sorry for the sudden pause, my lords...I’ll make this quick, then...I know I have asked for this several times now, but at this point, I need you to make this wish come true...Please, give me good luck...No, give me a guardian….No, make me a guardian. I want to be someone that can protect others from the possible dangers that are about to occur...I know it, something is coming...I don’t want anyone close to me to die again...I don’t want anyone to abandon me again…” Tears started to come out of her eyes. She can see it. It’s right there, in front of her. It’s that thing she saw when she was deep in her thoughts in the dream. She still can’t see it clearly due to her tear-filled eyes, but it’s quite clear that it’s in her room. It’s not doing anything, just...staring at her. For some reason, she started to feel a bit more at ease while looking at it. She stopped crying and looked down at the floor.

“...I...I just want to help everyone, in any way I can...I don’t want to be bad luck anymore...These are the final words I direct to you all, as I bid you farewell…” She stands up, cleans her eyes with her hands and looks at the table again. The animal was not there anymore. “...What the hell is going on…?” She just shook her head and sighed. After picking up her pillow and putting it on the bed, she just throws herself onto the bed as well and went to a deep sleep.

This day has made her way too tired….She was probably hallucinating that animal, anyway.

<Oh...Oshiji-san, Taki-chan...> Well, she was expecting it, but not this soon. Here she is, in yet another connected dream, in a big room within a mansion, colored in indigo blue. Everyone from the first dream is all here in this same room again, and there seem to be a few new faces here too...But they were probably in the first dream as well. She really didn’t know the names of these people, however. There was the girl who seemed to try to be the voice of the group, although it’s quite clear that nobody didn’t seem to care to listen. There was the seemingly ditzy boy, who tried to lighten up the mood by saying that it’s possible that this is just some sort of roleplay.

And then there was everyone else, including the other student she didn’t really recognize (He was pretty short…), who were all asking the exact same questions: Where are they? What the heck is the Velvet Room? Why does it have to be them? Is this yet another way for Juliette and her master to quench their boredom? All these many questions and more. The only thing they’re waiting for now is a response. Obviously, she and many others stayed quiet throughout a majority of this. Besides, why bother asking a question when somebody else is already asking it for you?

All she wanted was her prayers to come true, not to be stuck in this mess yet again...

                      Aiko Schroeder-Inoue

                      An Ordinary Day

After leaving the butler cafe, Aiko called up her dad to pick her up in their car. She was quite content, savoring the pleasant experience with the butler cafe and her shopping trip, all easily costing 250,000 yen. After waiting for a good while while the streets clogged up with traffic, Aiko’s father pulled over to the curb, immaculately dressed in his suit, tie and shades and driving his Mercedes-Benz G class SUV. He greeted her daughter in English, opened the trunk and helped her get all of her shopping bags into the trunk. “Geez, this much stuff for a first day of school?

Aiko smirked. “[i]It’s not just for school, dad. Vacations, parties, get togethers and school.”

Her father sighed. “[i]You really didn’t need all of this. You’d have been just fine with a few new outfits and a few things here and there“

Defensive, Aiko whined, “But I had so much money anyways, and all of this stuff I really needed. Can’t you cut a girl a break?

Look, just, nevermind….” Normally, he would have argued further, but dropped it because he had a phone call to attend to.

Aiko fiddled around with her phone, surfing the web and going on Twitter. Both of them went about talking about other things, like her friends, their parents and other mundane subjects. The spent the rest of the car ride like this and finally arrived at their house, a well located but unassuming little house. Well cared for and with a few status symbols here and there, but not gaudy and flashy. The two greeted Aiko’s mother, made some small talk and had dinner. This scene would usually not be out of place in an average Joe Schmoe family, but this had been the first time in a while it’s been like this. In fact, things have been more unsettled and tense between the three of them. The tenseness wasn’t tangible per se, but it was lurking beneath the surface, bubbling up more and more. It was not something Aiko really acknowledged, making every justifiable excuse she could muster about what was surely just a little rough patch.

With a delicious dinner down the gullet, Aiko went on to read an otome manga she picked up the other day, enjoying the corny but somehow endearing plot.

It was that dream again. Strange bluish tinted room, same strange yellow eyed maid woman and even the group of students gathered around. Just what was Aiko doing here caught up in this mess again? The air around her was ominous and eerie, putting a nagging feeling on Aiko she couldn’t describe and frustratingly couldn’t shake off. Aloud, she said, "What is up with this place? It can't be coincidence that I'm in here twice..."

                      Katashi Kudo

Katashi was exhausted after the day he had. He was so tired he flopped down on his bed fully clothed, even still wearing his shoes, and fell asleep almost immediately. His mind was plagued with the thoughts he had tried to push out during the day, his father's illness, his mother overworking herself, his need to fit in and have people like him, until finally his mind began to dream about an elegant room with a glass chandelier and strange paintings.

He blinked, lifting his head and noticing that this didn't exactly feel like a dream. He saw that same mysterious lady who he could vaguely remember from a previous dream. He stared at her, intent on remembering what happened in the last dream, until suddenly he realized she had been speaking, and now people were yelling out questions. He looked around suddenly, now aware that there were other people here too. Were they there last time? That must be why that short guy looked so familiar!

Katashi yawned, realizing that this really couldn't be a dream if he was tired. What's going on? Where was he? Who were they? He had so many questions, and yet he stayed silent. He was overloaded with so much he had no idea where to start. Luckily the others had covered the basic questions, and he looked hopefully to the lady for answers.

                      Spoiler:
"It appears that you all are settled..." Juliette began, looping upon the crowd.
The candles all suddenly went to dim. Juliet slowly approached the groups' table with a firm expression. She seemed colder than how she was before, and much more formal. Was this her true personality? Or a way for her to speak to humans?

"From your tones, you must not be smitten on seeing me again, but I assure you, this is for a good reason this time. First of all, do not worry. You're all fast asleep in your world. I used my power to summon your consciousness to this pane of dreams and reality... the Velvet Room. But you all must of known that by now."

She then clasped both of her hands together. "Now, you must heed closely to what I'm about to tell you. Are you aware of the epidemic that has been going on in your world? That is the result of the departed - those who have been causalities... of the game of devils. She snapped her fingers. There came a roar, seemingly from unidentifiable beings. Are there tigers... lions... or even dragons in this place? Or something worse...? "The devil's game is a series of trials that are cast upon your world, made from the gods. Humans with extraordinary state of consciousness gather to complete the trials for fortune... and power. Those who gain power are said to be destined to rule over the masses, and to shape the world as they wish. Naturally, not everyone can inherit this extraordinary state of consciousness - only those with resolve in their heart may wield such power."

Juliette snapped her fingers again, lighting the room up once more. "You don't need to understand this all now. However, allow me to give you a simple warning: you will soon experience a trial, where your heart will be put to the test. If you have the strength and resolve to complete the trial, you will gain a new power. But if you fail..."

                      "...You will die."

She... summoned them all here? Confused, Daiki remained silent but kept a pissed expression on his face. No one was permitted to know that he was actually terrified of all this impossible bullmuk going on around him.

When she snapped her fingers, causing the room to echo with the roar of strange animals, Daiki grabbed his legs with his hands and held tight as if he were about to be thrown around. Truely... this was a nightmare.

"So what you're saying is that the Devil's Game is the cause of all those vegtable heads?" Daiki asked, almost rhetorically. He knew of people that were plagued by that illness but if supernatural bullmuk turned out to be the cause then... then... his place here in this dream.

Was he going to be next? What were those trials? Did... did this women target people to be put through this kind of muk?

"Whatever these damn Devil Games are... I won't lose." He said, breaking his mental hesitation by slamming his fist on the table. Pinching his leg with his other hand, Daiki tried to make this momement important in his brain, so that the pain would remind him later.

Post 5: This is Some Weird Dream

"You don't need to understand this all now. However, allow me to give you a simple warning: you will soon experience a trial, where your heart will be put to the test. If you have the strength and resolve to complete the trial, you will gain a new power. But if you fail,” the woman said with a pause. “You will die.”

Naoki started sweating at the thought of dying. He was slightly convinced that this was just a strange dream after all but he couldn’t remove from his mind the feeling of reality. It stayed at the back of his head like an itch that he can’t scratch, partly because he’s not comfortable in moving too much.

"Whatever these damn Devil Games are... I won't lose." A face Naoki could slightly remember said. He slammed his fist on the table and, for some reason, the tinkling from the chandelier above them echoed. The surreality of the moment took hold of Naoki’s brain and mouth. Around him were just shocked faces, similar to Naoki’s.

“Why me?” he found himself saying. “I’m still pretty sure this is a dream but why me?” Naoki asked. He felt eyes quickly switched from the woman in front of them to him. “And what’s stopping us from just ignoring whatever this dream is. I think there’s a high chance I’m just hallucinating, you get what I’m saying?

                        Call on Me - Starley

"But if you fail ... You will die." Juliette's words resonated within Kammi. Thankfully, Juliette had answered most of their questions... Not that they were the answers anybody really wanted. The entire group was made up of special people. People destined to either become great or die trying. Kammi shuddered at the thought. Of course, she didn't mind the special part. It was the dying that made her worry, as it should.

She looked at the other teenagers around her. She could only imagine the same things were going through their minds. She focused her eyes at their newsgiver. "What do you mean we're going to die?" she said, her face scrunched up in disbelief.

After hearing the spiel about devils, gods and epidemics Aiko stared in a daze. Special? Trials? Doomed to die? Aiko exclaimed, "W-what, we're gonna die? Why the hell are we in this demonic mess? I didn't sign up for this..." She was starting to lose her composure, and not getting any better as the possibilites raced in her mind, further creeped out by the demonic noises. "God, what the hell is going on here?"

Kammi looked next to her as Aiko exclaimed. Kammi was in a state of disbelief, but Aiko had seemed to move past that already. Kammi definitely understood, and even if Aiko was the first to freak out, she likely wasn't going to be the last. Kammi huffed for a moment, setting her hand on the table as she thought. They needed to figure out exactly what these trials were and how they were to survive. In a situation like this, she needed to be calm. If she was able, she needed to keep everyone else calm as well.

Kammi put a hand on Aiko's shoulder and leaned down next to her. "Hey, Aiko, right?" she asked her, realizing this was the first conversation they've had both here in this dream and the real world. "Take a moment and breathe."

Aiko took a deep breath. "S-sorry, just, the death thing and those noises..." She shivered. "Do you really think this is true? Us being dead and being some demon pawns? It could be just a dream, but now it feels too real..." Again, the undefined feeling from before arose, sending more shivers down her spine. It was definitely linked to being here and with these people, but still couldn't make heads or tails of it.

"Well..." Kammi hesitated. If she had her way, this would just be a really weird dream and nothing would ever happen because of it. That definitely wasn't the case. "We're not dead yet," she finally said, her voice reassuring. "If you watch my back, I'll watch yours. We'll figure a way to deal with this, okay?"

Kammi attempted as honest a smile as she could muster.

Aiko replied, still unsure. "Ok. I'll see what I can do, but I don't know what I can offer."

Kammi pointed at the maid. "If you're going to believe her about our possible demise, then you should believe in her thoughts of us being extraordinary people. We were apparently chosen for this." Kammi moved her hand back to Aiko's shoulder. "Something or someone believes in us to some degree, so believe in yourself as well."

The other girl said, "O-of course I believe in myself, it's just, well, I'm not sure when I'm apparently going to die. It's not exactly an easy thing to bounce back from, you know?" She laughed nervously in an attmept to make herself seem less affected than she actually was.

"She did say that we could die, not that we had to," Kammi reminded. Thankfully, Aiko made at least a slight rebound.

Just as Aiko was going to respond, she heard one boy slam his fist on the table and shout, "Whatever these damn Devil Games are...I won't lose!" Consequently, a face Aiko vaguely recognized as Naoki started flipping out, along with some others. Aiko was at least assured she wasn't the only one freaking out, and that her freakout was fairly minor. But after losing his composure, he did again bring back the possibilty that they could all ignore this dream. Would that be such a bad thing? It's not like Aiko was a super smart person or an athlete or anything like that. Maybe a fashion aficionado at best. She sighed. "Maybe he is right..."

Kammi foldeed her arms in front of her chest. "But you can tell this is different, right?" she asked Aiko, half directing her attention to Naoki as well. "If this thing is real, if we're all actually here, what makes you think we can just ignore it? Would that not be the most probable way to end up dead?" Of course, Kammi wished that this was all it was. A weird hallucination or dream that had no effect on the real world? She'd take that any day.

This lecturing is making me sound like Mom, she thought with a sigh. She loved her, but imagining them being that similar made her shudder slightly. "She mentioned the epidemic that's been going around. People don't just turn into vegetables without any warning signs beforehand. It's not natural and this 'Devil's Game' is just as good an explanation as any."

The other girl sighed again. "I guess there really is no way out of this then. But why me? My life has been fairly uneventful and good. It's not that I don't feel bad for the people going through the epidemic, but I don't get what I bring to the table to stop it."

"Do you think any of us have a clue about why we're here?" Kammi retorted. "We're all high school students. We're kids. If you take one look at all of us, do you think any of us are smart enough to find a cure or strong enough to fight some evil force? We're all in the same position."

                        "B-but-"

"But what? We're all here. If the choice is either winning this 'Devil's Game' or dying, wouldn't you rather win?"

"Yes. I don't want to die." Aiko was finally starting to grasp some of the situation before her. "That's what I want more than anything, really. I still have a whole life ahead, maybe I can finally..." Aiko realized she was trailing off into some weird tangent. "Never mind." She turned back to Kammi. "I will give it my all. My apologies for all of my scaredy-cat behavior."

Kammi simply gave the girl a smile. "Don't apologize. Trust me, I understand how you feel. I got your back, just make you have mine," she said holding out her hand, "okay?"

Aiko firmly grasped the hand and replied. "Okay."

                          A Blue-Stained Proposal

A laugh escaped Kazue's mouth at the seriousness of Juliet's request. Gods? The Devil? No... This charade has gone on for too long. She was tired of the games, which according to their host hasn't even begun.

"You aren't serious, are you?" She stood up, pushing her chair in with her foot. "How about no. I am not playing along with your so called game." There may not be an exit to the room, but hopefully the move was symbolic enough.

"I am sick and god-damn tired of this already." She continued her rant to the table, staring down Juliet in particular. "I don't know how you are doing this, and I don't want to know either. This is either some delusion of mine, or your some kind of cult messing with my head. I am not playing, I am not buying in. Leave me the psyduck alone now!"

Slamming down her fist to emphasize her point, she turned her attention to the others. She couldn't shake the vague sense of familiarity of some of them, but trying to recall them felt like trying to find a specific grain of sand on a beach. She shouldn't give a damn about them falling for this scam artist's tricks, but she wanted to give them at least one warning before writing them all off as lost causes,

" I don't know if you all are even real or not," she said, rubbing her temple to try and stave off the coming headache, "but don't buy into this muk. She's using nice words like "special" mixed with vague threats like "death" to try and make you proud and scared. There are no special powers in the world. These games are a sham to make you trust her as some authority figure. She's probably with some cult or something, and she'll sell you salvation at the cost of everything you own and then some. She only wants to rob you blind.

"I don't know any of you, but if you believe a single word out of her mouth then I will not hesitate to call you the biggest idiot I have ever had the displeasure of meeting."
