Fire Type Emblem
"Hail, traveller! I hear you are looking a legendary artifact, stowed away in mysterious lands. Dangers lurk on the road ahead, but luckily you will not be on your own. With valuable teamwork and my guidance I am sure you will all find the treasure you are all looking for. Yes, my friend, we will be looking for nothing less than the famed..."

Fire Type Emblem!

In Fire Type Emblem you battle together as a team in order to defeat the enemies in a turn-based combat. Your team is victorious when all enemies are defeated. A wipeout of your entire party however, will result in a loss.

How do things work?
The game alternates between the "Player Phase" and the "Enemy Phase". During the Player Phase you have time to discuss play strategy and take your turn to do stuff (see below). Once all players have acted, it's time for the enemy team members (played by the glorious game master Lycanthropy) to strike. And when they are done, the next Player Phase initiates and so on.

On your turn you can take the following two steps (neither of which is obligatory):
Step 1. Move: Move a number of squares up to your Movement. Keep the following rules in mind:
- Moving can be done horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally.
- Some squares (such as those occupied by trees) cannot be accessed. Others require a special kind of movement to enter (a square in a lake can only be accessed by flying or swimming Pokemon for example).
- You cannot move through spaces occupied by an enemy.
- You may move through an ally's space. However you cannot end your turn there.
Step 2. Use an Action: An Action can be one of the following things:
> 2a. Attack: Use one of your attacks against a target within range. Take note that some attacks have a limited amount of PP.
> 2b. Use an item: Use an item from your inventory. This usually consumes it.
> 2c. Interact: Interact with the environment, such as picking up an item or talking to a friendly NPC.
> 2d. Sprint: Take a second Move action, as described under Step 1.

Join the adventure!
What's that? You wish to join our adventuring party? Jolly good! Just fill in this small form here and we'd gladly welcome you aboard!

Nickname (optional):
Species: any unevolved Pokémon (no legendary or mythical Pokémon)*
Gender: any of the available options
Ability: either non-hidden ability

*: Your base stats will be scaled, so you won't get an unfair disadvantage for picking a Pokémon with a poor base-stat total. I still can't recommend playing as a Magikarp though.

The story so far...
A small exploration force led by Lucario sets out on adventure to find the Fire Type Emblem, an ancient artifact hidden away in the Cave of Blazes. Very soon they find out the journey is not an easy one.
A gang of bandits, taking orders from their captain Lombre, ambushes the innocent explorers on the forest path and forces the travelers to hand over their wealth. With no valuables to give and no will to surrender, a battle breaks out in an instant. During the battle, Nuzleaf, the captain's right hand, snuck up from behind and tried to corner Lucario's team. Little did they realize at the time, they were fighting a stronger force than they accounted for and the group's popularity made more Pokémon join them in the midst of the battle. In the end, it was the bandits who were robbed of their valuable pearl.

Until the exploration party got to a swamp the travel was quiet, almost boring. A cry for help from nearby stirred up some excitement. A damsel in distress (and her brother), had wandered off in the swamps on their own and were captured by the locals. The adventurers had to take heavy losses in order to save the Espeon and Umbreon, partially because of the meddling of a small, but strong third force who were hired by someone known as Garchomp for only one mission: the elimination of Dawn and Dusk.
Eventually, the party managed to blow a good chunk out of Sliggoo's - the self-proclaimed Lord of the swamp - health. "Suspicious" ice cream appeared quite helpful in for these kinds of situations. The Swamp Lord surrenders and offers his lucky charm and a safe passage out of the marsh as a thanks for having an exciting battle with him.

We now find our heroes taking a rest on the swampy soil to heal up, before they continue their journey straight towards their goal... the Fire Type Emblem.

Spoiler: Details
Good old Shuckle has been a long-time friend of mine and an amazing juice mixer. With only the best home-made juices, I must add! The old man won’t tell me what exactly goes on in that thick shell of his, but you don’t hear me complaining when I’m served an ice-cold refreshing glass of juice right on the battlefield.
Disclaimer: he is one hell of a coward, so don’t expect any help actually bringing down the enemies from this guy.

Evolution Siblings
"Me and my sister must humbly thank you for your brave rescue mission. I don't want to think what would happen if it wasn't for your sudden appearance."

"Hey, let's not dwell on that any longer. We're saved, that's what counts. Thank you lots!"

Replace Payback with Feint Attack. Basically replacing one Dark move with another and although I'm losing out on double power Payback, I pretty much get guaranteed to hit Feint Attack in return. If its possible, I'd buy a Fire Stone for later use as I'm not ready to evolve just yet. I still have moves to learn and seeing as Ninetales doesn't learn anything, it'd be foolish to evolve right now. Felix, Nah, Coral, Krakonos, and Rinnia I'd evolve right now unless there is a reason not to(say learning a move earlier). As for Alex, here's your chance to become Umbreon(although Sylveon and its OP nature looks swell this time of year(and the fact I want to make Fairy jealous). Glaceon is another possibility seeing as we don't have any Ice Types). Meta can evolve but would have an impact on the moves he'd be learning this intermission(Wing Attack would lose STAB). Linus can evolve if he wants but I'm not sure if he'd maintain his Floating movement. As for Lily, if you evolve now you learn Quiver Dance at 28 with Petal Dance(Special) and Petal Blizzard(Physical) at 46 and 50 respectively. Yet if you hold off Evolution, you learn Giga Drain at 26, Aromatherapy at 28, Helping Hand at 31, Energy Ball at 35, Entrainment at 37, Sunny Day at 40(synergy with ability), After You at 44 and Leaf Storm at 46. I'd wait for Energy Ball and Sunny Day before evolving.

*Thoughts on everyone's new moves*

Spoiler:
Priscilla: Definitely would learn Electroball seeing as it allows you to attack diagonally. Maybe consider swapping Nuzzle? I know the guaranteed paralysis is nice but as Lutin and Lickitung demonstrated last battle, it doesn't always work lol. Swift is also a nice move to consider since it gives you a long range move. Remove Growl for it?

Rinnia: Both Calm Mind and Draining Kiss are awesome.... Hard part is I have no freaking idea what I'd suggest to remove. I suppose Draining Kiss would replace Disarming Voice being that its one Fairy move for another. As for Calm Mind, the utility of Teleport has come in handy when bypassing obstacles but boosting your Special stats outweighs that I think.

Elwind: Swords Dance is a glorified given, although I'm not sure what I'd remove. Pursuit seems to be the odd move out given the circumstances. As for Slash, Feint would be the odd move out, although came in extremely handy this past battle due to its Rn 1-2.

Nah: Slash replacing Take Down is a given no?

Alex: Ignore Take Down. Recoil moves just don't work unless you have Rock Head ability.

WooWoo: Will-O-Wisp goes hand in hand with Hex but I think that's one move I'd pass on. Ominous Wind however is one I'd definitely consider but for which move to replace.... Suppose Haze is out?

Lily: Up to you if you want Stun Spore. I think Sleep Powder did much better don't you think?

Susato: Secret Power is a must as I see it if you want to fight. Growl would be the move to replace. Not so sure on Attract though. Typically we don't want you on the front lines, much less flirting with the enemy.

Meta: Eh if your back, then these moves are godly good as both gain STAB!!! Quick Attack and Pursuit would be the moves I'd replace. However, if you evolve, then you lose STAB on Wing Attack so keep that in mind.

Krakonos: I like Chip Away but Cut is permanent and your other moves help you recover life and boost defenses. Feint Attack is also one of your strongest attacks that also counters Ghost Pokemon(which you couldn't attack with Normal moves). Your call here on what you want.

Cuddles: Mist basically prevents anyone affected from having their stats lowered. Its happened a few times but its up to you if you want it. I don't think you need another Water move though unless you want to replace Whirlpool or Astonish with Brine.

Felix: I'd pass on Roar and Swagger.

Hit: Agility would basically double your speed while its active, allowing you to traverse the battlefield and hit foes that may seem out of reach while Quick Attack is a non-stab Rn 1-2 move that has infinite uses. Your call on either of them but I'd lean towards replacing Pluck with one of those moves(Agility would be my pick).

Mercy: Its a non-stab move but has the benefit of ignoring Accuracy/Evasion. Hence its a guaranteed hit move for the most part. Seeing as you have Mimic, replace Copycat?

Mags: Mirror Shot, despite its horrible accuracy, is a Steel move and we need Steel moves lol. Thinking Thunder Wave or Light Screen. As for Metal Sound, I'd pass but if you want it, go ahead and take it.

Coral: YAY a Fairy move. I take it Rollout gets the yank seeing as Defense Curl has a Defensive purpose?

Linus: The only reason you'd add Trick or Treat is to make a target more vulnerable to being hit by Ghost and Dark Type moves. If you do choose to have it, I'd replace Worry Seed.

Robin: Psyshock is a given and I'd replace Rollout for it. You shouldn't be on the front lines to need Recover but if you want it, I'd replace Reflect.

Lutin: Feint Attack is a can't miss Dark move(hence I'd replace Bite unless you love the chance to Flinch) while Baton Pass adds a bit of strategic flare that we haven't had until now. It basically allows you to swap places with anyone on the map, thereby allowing someone who couldn't do anything to affect the course of battle on this round to do so while also acting as an Emergency Evacuation move. In other words a great move to have but what to replace.... Taunt I suppose would be the odd move out.

As for items to purchase:

Definitely will want Rock Smash. Freesia(DBZ reference Revise??), Waterproof, Coral, Krakonos(what are you an HM slave?), Lutin, Meta, Nah, Hit, and Linus can learn it. Alex too if he evolves into one of the Kanto Eevolutions(but not Johto surprisingly). I have no idea who should learn it either. No one gets STAB from it since no one is a Fighting Type but we don't have that many Fighting Type moves so... if someone wants to be valuable against Normal, Dark, Steel and/or Ice, now is your chance.

Also forgot to mention my thoughts on Mystic Water. It boosts Water moves 15% so if Cuddles goes with Brine, then I think he'd be a good pick for it due to his wide array of Water moves.

Mozilla interacts with NPC's: "Why were you in the Swamp in the first place?"

PS: Didn't Cuddles give his Oran Berry to Dawn when she was in a real pinch?

Certainly. Mercy will replace Copycat with Feint Attack ~

Also, I think the Move Relearner could prove helpful in the future.

I have a couple of questions, especially before I commit to one possible idea:

1. If we purchase something, will we continue to have access to it after future battles? I guess as an example, do we still have access to the Cut HM? If that's the case, it might not be a bad idea to purchase some of the services. I'm not sure about the Juice Bar, and I probably won't need the Move Relearner myself, but it would be handy if we kept that service for as long as this RPG keeps going.
2. If we decide to purchase the Rock Smash HM, is the cost per use or just one time only and we can use it however many times we wish? I'm interested, but if it's the former, I want to prioritize other players getting their moves before money is spent so Coral can learn Rock Smash.

As for Coral right now, I'd like to replace Helping Hand with Play Rough, and Coral will approach Dusk and Dawn to begin evolving.

: "Hey, thanks for the service, you two! I do not need any items to evolve, so I am ready to begin when you are!"

1. Oh yes, certainly! Krakonos currently holds on to the HM: Cut. (An exception would be Berries obviously, they are gone after you eat them.) Once purchased, the services simply follow you along because they have nothing better to do and can be accessed any time between battles.

2. Both HMs and TMs are usable infinitely without breaking. That means for only 1500 Poké, you can have anybody who's interested (and compatible) learn Rock Smash!

PS: Didn't Cuddles give his Oran Berry to Dawn when she was in a real pinch?

I believe we'd have access to Rock Smash for as long as we have it. Krakonos still has the Cut HM and could give it to someone to learn the move if necessary. So if Freesia wanted to learn Cut instead of Leech Seed(which he shouldn't need with Black Sludge), then that'd allow him to attack Annoying Trees despite being a Grass Type. As for Rock Smash, we can buy the HM but we won't have to learn the move just yet until we determine who learns the move. However, someone would have to hold it in their inventory until we do. I believe Rock Smash would be used against Rock obstacles, hence would deal triple damage and therefore would be invaluable if a Fighting Type were to learn it since we'd gain STAB from it too. Problem is we lack a Fighting Type(although it doesn't hurt to try and recruit one hah!!). Right now, our best option is ironically Krakonos since he has this uncanny ability to learn HM moves.

As for the Move Relearner service, its just for this intermission if we were to use it. <- Sniped by Lycan so ignore me...

A really nice selection of choices here! Those berry packs look good. Are each of you guys planning to go ahead with evolution?

Also, welcome Waterproof and Freesia!! :)

But... evolve my little Shinx? You know, I never could do that in PMD haha, but it might be worth a try. :') Let me think about it!

Well if you want Thunder Fang, holding off on Evolving wouldn’t hurt since odds are we will gain five levels after Battle#3 wherein you’d learn the move. Yet if you choose to evolve now, you won’t get Thunder Fang until level 33 as Luxio.

Yeah, I'm indeed back! I didn't really post in the old thread though because reasons, but I'm here!

only problem with the old thread being locked is that I'm going to have to redo Meta's post CSS before the new thread because I never saved it I think. >_>

: I apologize for deserting everyone last battle, as I had a few... more pressing matters to attend to. It seems everyone was able to hold it together, though. I have picked up a few techniques, too, so I assure you what I was doing was not a waste of time.

...What? E-Evolution? I will, er, pass on that.

So any thoughts on items or what to buy? I think we may need Rock Smash but I have no idea who should learn it. Buying the HM would mean we have $7k Poke left. Might also explore a Berry Expert Pack for $2100 Poke. If we get the Berry Expert Pack, that would drop us to $4900 and we would have to decide who gets the berries. Sitrus would go to people who don't have the means to heal themselves while Leppa will go to people like WooWoo and Nah to replenish PP. Alex evolving into Umbreon is 150, more if Lily and/or Linus opt to evolve as well. If we all get above, we're at 4750 just with Alex evolving.

Having claimed and put a "Keep Out!" signboard nearby the lake he's staying idly at, Cuddles felt uncomfortably uneasy for a while now.
Not because being felled by a stray fire had done him any bad, but what just came out to be a letter delivered from his hometown, is quite outrageous to comprehend for him.

"...I can't just say I got invited to a tea party out of nowhere, do I?" Cuddles pondered a moment to consider. Part of him don't want to leave the exploration team just yet, nor drag them into the whole mess his country is having, but on the other hand, he must answer the urgency from Marina as well as reuniting with his twin brothers, who are forcibly drafted into a dispute against--once powerful friends, now formidable enemies--Oceania. The decision lies in him, though his answer is clear, he has to speak of it firsthand to Lycario.

--

Meanwhile...
Cuddles forgot how to use Astonish and Whirlpool.
And... Cuddles learned Mist! ...and Brine! Respectively. Perhaps this can be very helpful for the next predicament.

Sitrus Berries sure look pretty tempting for Cuddles with his high HP, though the other berries have their own niche, they may not get used up at all, I think. But surely, we can find a way around to that anyway.
Instead, I'm interested with the juice stand thing which is literally cutting our current funds into half. Who knows, maybe we legit can craft things like poisonous juice with it.

With the unusually absolute lack of any notable civilizations in FTE universe, and how the upper paragraph being 99% flavor text, I guess I can say: why not? Since Lycan did say there's a chance he'll dry out of inspirations, it does look appropriate to give out input in many forms possible. (Though, fighting an entire city would mean warring against an army. That might be too much for everyone at their current level.)
