Machoke the Brave
Level 59
Ability: Guts
Earthquake, Cross Chop, Strength, Karate Chop
Thoughts: Him with Earthquake was DEVASTATING, especially to the teammate that it hit >.>, but either way, he was still solid. Cross Chop definitely felt like it missed more than 20% of the time, but when he hit, it hurt.
Would I use him again? Probably wouldn't be my first choice end game, but I'd definitely pick up a Machop early game in the future.
Dragonite the Impish
Level 56
Ability: Inner Focus
Dragon Claw, Shock Wave, Flash, Fly
Thoughts: I gave him shock wave as a Dratini because his only move was wrap. Seeing Dratinis special attack later quickly made me regret that decision, but it came in useful later after he was a Dragonite. It was a long climb to get him to Dragonite, and he didn't evolve until after the first round of the Elite 4, but he was a quality pokemon for elite 4 round 2.
Would I use him again? I would not pick Dratini as a low level unless I had a way to level him quickly because no. He had a long rev up time. But he was worth it in the end. If I could find a wild Dragonair at like level 30-something, sure :P
Slowbro the Quirky
Level 52
Ability: Oblivious
Psychic, Yawn, Toxic, Surf
Thoughts: Slowbro was another pokemon that took a little to rev up for me. I'm glad I never got rid of Yawn, because that ended up being invaluable to his success, Yawning to sleep many pokemon that were major threats to my team, (including my Champion's Starmie with Thunderbolt, Surf, and Psychic >.>). The toxic helped take down wall-y pokemon, so at the end of the day he served his purpose.
Would I use again? Maybe? I have a few water pokemon I would use before him like Vaporeon and Starmie (my top two favorite pokemon), but he wasn't terrible.
Clefable the Calm
Level 54
Ability: Cute Charm
Ice Beam, Shadow Ball, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt
Thoughts: I got the Amulet Coin early having 40 pokemon caught by the time I left the Safari Zone, and boy did it pay dividends with Clefable. That move set, along with her decent Special Attack score was a huge reason I was able to clear through the first group of the Elite 4. Once Machamp and Dragonite came into their own, she took more a backseat for Round 2, but she could hit so many weaknesses. The problem was, if she couldnt hit a weakness, her power was meh. Also, the ability was life saving a couple of times. Have Misty's Starmie fall in love with her, and then Mega Kick it in the face because Clefable don't need that kind of relationship.
Would I use again? I definitely won't just go, ugh, Clefairy whenever I see one in Mount Moon, that's for sure. Again, wouldn't be my first choice, but definitely won't throw it away.
Raticate the Relaxed
Level 49
Ability: Run Away
Super Fang, Cut, Dig, Hyper Fang
Thoughts: Raticate was good mid-game and then around the time of the Giovanni gym fight, fell off the face of the Earth. He did have a few shining moments in the Elite 4, softening up other 'mons with Super Fang for Clefable to tag team and finish them off, but he wasn't the attacker I was hoping he would be. Maybe I used him wrong, I will openly admit that, but I wasn't overly impressed.
Would I use him again? Probably not. He wasn't the worst pokemon I've ever used (I'm looking at you, Onix I couldn't evolve, and Farfetch'd.) But he certainly wasn't the best. Run Away was invaluable though.
Butterfree the Hasty
Level 49
Ability: Compoundeyes
Aerial Ace, Psychic, Silver Wind, Psybeam
Thoughts?: I didn't really like his moveset, I mean, if I didn't throw him the TM for Psychic, his moveset would be absolutely terrible. His special attack of 101, wasn't bad per say, but it could be because I'm used to higher Sp. Ark'ers like Starmie, who can ruin worlds between Surf and Psychic, but I wasn't overtly impressed.
Would I use him again?: Early game? Yes. Late game? Probably not. Just seemed to fall out probably around the time of Sabrina's gym.
