Who do you think is the best starter from the three?

Me myself likes Cyndaquil but I chose to like Chikorita more cause
of the least popularity and its final evolution, Meganium, is not all mean
looking and vicious. Also Chikorita is reliable on the game although weak against most things.

well Thyplosion and Feraligatr are certainly equally powerful... Meganium would be too if grass types aren't so weak (and if we're looking at this RS wise then it's even weaker).

Actually, I fought an annoying one with Light Screen and Reflect that kept me in that battle for like an hour...ugh.

I have a question - Does REFLECT mirror physical moves like Tackle and Thrash?

It halves damage from physical moves. Light Screen does the same for special ones.

Cyndaquil I would pick

why?

1.Kenta/Gold has one(in anime and manga)
2.It can beat the other 2 Starters in this group
Feraligator: by Thunderpunch
Meganium: by Flamethrower

Plus it can beat its own kind(Fire) and it's weakness(Rock) with Earthquake :D

not to mention that Feraligatr can screw Thyplosion faster by using Earthquake... and Meganium can put up a great fight with light screen, synthesis and the deadly body slam (if you're paralyzed, then Meganium's staying power would definitely rise)

if it can survive

Speed is the key

224-254 is the Max Speed Feraligator can get
268-298 is the Max Speed Typhlosion can get

Meganium is slower than Typhlosion, but can get faster than Feraligator 228-258
Flamethrower+STAB would fry Meganium

i think it can... Thyplosion's stats maybe good, but Meganium's stats aren't bad either...

most likely this will happen (excluding criticals)
-Thyplosion uses Flamethrower
-Meganium's hp is a bit close to 1/2
-Meganium uses Light Screen
-(leftovers heal Meganium just back to 1/2)
-Thyplosion uses Flamethrower
-Meganium's hp is at 1/4
-Meganium uses Synthesis...

well that's my guess. But then maybe Thyplosion can get enough power to knock Meganium pass the vital 1/2 total hp point. If it can then it's either switch out or faint.

Also, Sunny Day gives another 1.5 to to the Fire Power

Flamethrower(95)X2Super Effective=190+STAB(50)+Sunny Day(50)=290

You use Light Screen and its at 145 damage(which still knocks Meganium out since its almost out of HP by then)

Err... sunny day Thyplosion is rather a rare sight... sunny day is just rare in all ways you look at it unless at least 3 members from your team benefits from a weather effect...

most definitely cyndiquil
cause nobody can beat my lv100 typhlosion's line up

Flamethrower (grass, bug, ice, type advantage)
Thunder punch (water, flying)
Earthquake (electric, poison)
Dynamic Punch (i just chose it to get rid of red's snorlax-normal, dark)

trust me, i duplicated it and keep a team, that's how i won my celebi, through an epic battle that had to do with typhlosions, the setting was the nyc pkmn center (no im not kidding, my aunt lives 5 blocks from there).

Fav...

Well, for the cutest, I have to pick Chikorita! ^_^

But, overall I'd have to choose Cyndaquil if I was being more strategic. It learns some great attacks for fighting against both water and grass.

the old site of PC shows standard movesets

Typhlosion:
Fire Blast
Sunny Day
Thunderpunch
Earthquake

I put Flamethrower cause its more accurate. Fire Blast would overdo it a bit

... huh? i thought most people make a moveset from this following movepool...

-earthquake
-roar
-rest
-thunderpunch
-flamethrower

sunny day is thrown on it if other members on the lineup benefits from it as well (like if your other pokemon is Rhydon for example)

I love fire types, although their weakness against water gets discouraging. I like Cyndaquil better, though Totodile can put up a great fight if you teach it dig.

Feraligatr will die twice the speed against Thyplosion if you use dig... (earthquake do double damage then which is not cool)

Stick with Earthquake against Thyplosion if you're using Feraligatr. It's the most efficient way possible.
