Is anyone else a fan of idol-type anime or media (like I know some have mobile games I've seen a few people enjoy)?

I'm a huge fan of Idolmaster! I know there's a lot of Love Live fans out there but I was also wondering what sort of songs are your favorite from the series?

I have an idol group or two I like. Both from the same franchise, mind.

I just really had fun with the anime and I like a lot of the memes and the merch.

Some of the songs are ones I like, too, but I haven't ever done a deep dive into just the music to explore every single song.

Too soon for me to make a proper post, I'm only halfway through the first season of LL.

All I will say right now is that Kotori is the best, Umi is the worst, and if you ship them I hope you burn in hell for your crimes against humanity.

I've previously made a thread about Idol anime and how it's being treated as cancer to modern anime by western anime fans (a.k.a. the Toonami crowd) because it's not like JoJo, OPM, AoT, KlK, or any masculine anime involving manly men and sexy tomboys doing manly things and accuse idols for being "waifu bait" as their only purpose to attract lonely otakus. I've seen this hatred to the genre first-hand when Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, a JRPG idol game developed by Atlus, was first announced at the April 2015 Nintendo Direct.

I would love that first one in particular...it's also a lot cheaper, so I can actually dream. It's a shame there isn't a Ranko nendo; I would be all over that if there was, and damn the cost. xD

Actually, I think you'll find the hatred surrounding that game was mostly just because of the censorship controversy surrounding it, it had nothing to do with idols.

On the subject of idol games, I actually own two! Hyperdimension Neptunia PP, which has shockingly good writing and is also surprisingly fun - Neptune's in-depth explanation about the game pandering to people and actually deducting trust points from you for demanding it was hilarious - and Omega Quintet, an RPG with idols in it...which is not great. xD

The censorship controversy came after the hatred surrounding the game for being an idol game and not a serious SMT crossover game with Fire Emblem.

everyone knows by now im into love live school idol project though i need to look into love live sunshine and idolm@ster but im not surprised the toonami crowd hates idol animes because its not centered around men as most typical animes are and conisider these idols waifu bait but you can learn alot from a idol anime like lovelive i really never learned anything from pokemon that much hell before i ran into Love Live! i never had the courage to actually go out to a anime/game convention but watching love Live got me to actually go out and do it first thing called called japanfest which to me was kinda lame (october 2016) then i went to a con called Naka-Kon as Tracer and it was actually fun i managed to pull off Tracer though i was scared at first though next year i might go part of a day or a whole day as Maki but not sure yet........

I love idols, I'm what you call a person in idol hell. I'm heavily into Love Live, Idolish7, Enstars, Dream Festival & Band Yarouze (that's bands but yolo). I will literally watch any idol anime you throw at me. Also, BanG Dream is p cool, too.

Marginal#4 is my favorite ever. Kirihara Atom is my bf.

I am also deep in idol hell, and likely always will be. Love Live! is very important to me and is my favorite thing, even above Pokémon. I love all the girls but am especially partial towards Aqours, namely Riko, Dia, and Ruby. Also been loving Chika lately.

Not as into ships or anything though, but I do love watching the girls' friendships grow and evolve. I got into LL super late and didn't watch the original muse anime until around 2015-2016ish, so being able to follow Aqours from start to finish makes me feel more connected to them.

But! Also love other idols. Phone apps I have installed are Idolmaster Cinderella Girls and Aikatsu. Also have band apps installed that are idols but not quite, like Band Yarouze, Show By Rock, and BanG Dream. Also had Aichuu installed but it kept glitching with a white screen so I uninstalled and will reinstall when back home. A3 and Enstars are also nice. <3

gotta finish the Idolmaster animes asdfg

Alters tend to be limited in release, unfortunately. Nendos are way more reasonable for those on a budget, however.

Until I saw you mention it, I completely forgot I also own Hyperdimension Neptunia PP. I got a fair ways in but then I just stopped playing and I can't remember why.

They ARE very reasonably priced! Well, they range from around £30 to £150, depending on what they are. Suigintou nendos are outrageously pricey. But there are actually a lot of nendos in my price range...Kotori is only £31.98 on Amazon, in fact.

They ARE very reasonably priced! Well, they range from around £30 to £150, depending on what they are. Suigintou nendos are outrageously pricey. But there are actually a lot of nendos in my price range...Kotori is only £31.98 on Amazon, in fact.

I'm pretty sure there's more than one Kotori nendo. Two full size ones and 7 petits, one of those Petits being an exclusive with the Printemps version of the Vita game School Idol Paradise. also it turns out I own 5 of them and didn't even realize it, whoops.

Maybe it just wasn't your thing? It's very much a management-style game. I'm not sure if that's typical of idol games - although from what I understand LL on mobile is a rhythm game? - but it IS pretty unusual, and there aren't a huge number of songs or costumes etc. in it. The OP is great, though.

I think I actually might have beaten a route and was lazy about progressing from there? IDK.

Oh, also, relating to the topic, I've got a decent amount of Love Live merch. Like keychain straps, entire Petit nendo sets, buttons, Nendos, and other figures. Like this Hanayo Alter I just got in:

So hard to find unaltered songs on Youtube... Haven't dug deeper into the discography. Just stuff I like from playing the mobile game or watching the anime.

PLEASE watch Idolmaster omfg. I really like both series (original Idolmaster and Cinderella Girls) and they both are unrelated with different characters but I think Cinderella Girls is my favorite. Uzuki Shimamura is my favorite character 'cause I really felt like I could relate to her! Guys please watch it.

Seen Idolmaster already. Cinderella Girls was okay, but I liked the original. I tried playing the Cinderella Girls game but it wasn't my thing.
